Humber College History
On Sep 11 1967, the first new section of Humber College opened at James S. Bell Elementary School, a public school on Lake Shore Boulevard West. Later, the North Campus was officially established in November 1968 by Mayor Edward A. Horton of Etobicoke and Mayor Jack Moulton of York. During the 1970s, Humber College developed into a comprehensive post-secondary university that provides education through the School of Applied Arts, Business, Creative Arts, Health Sciences, Human Studies, and Technology.
Humber College was developing new courses to meet business and industry demands during the 1980s. During the 1990s, Humber was the first college that offered graduate certificates for university graduates who had completed their degree in general arts or sciences, and job-related training.
