Applicants should fill out the I-20 Form for the school that you are going to attend. The form I-20 issued to international students is officially titled the 'Certificate of Eligibility' as it allows the candidate to apply for an F-1 student visa at a US embassy or consulate in his home country.

What is an I-20 form?

The I-20 form is a certificate of eligibility for nonimmigrant student status, issued by a Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP)-certified school stating that a student has been admitted to a full-time study program and has also demonstrated sufficient financial means to stay in the United States. Students receive a Form I-20 from their Designated School Official (DSO). The appropriate I-20 Form is issued based on whether the school you are going to attend is in F-1 or M-1 status. Every school that accepts you will send an I-20 form once you pay the fee.
