In a tragic development of events, this year a total of 11 Indian students have died in the US in unexplainable circumstances. While the investigations are going on in these cases, let's take a look at the multiple deaths that happened within a short span of days.

Indian students' deaths in US: A glance at timeline of events

This year, till now been extremely unfortunate for the Indian American community which lost 11 young students recently. All these students died of unnatural deaths which is not properly understood. While the Consulate General of India, New York has kept an eye on the investigations and development, let's discuss the list of deceased students' names released so far.

Indian students' deaths in US in Jan 2024

Two Indian students, one from Wanaparthy in Telangana and another from Srikakulam in Andhra Pradesh died under 'suspicious circumstances' in Connecticut on January 15. They were identified as identified as G Dinesh and Nikesh. On the next day, Vivek Saini who just earned his MBA degree, was struck with a hammer 50 times by a homeless drug addict.

Sameer Kamath dies in Feb 5, 2024

Sameer Kamath, a 23-year-old Indian-American student at Purdue University, was discovered deceased in a nature preserve in Indiana. He was a US citizen, was found dead in the woods on February 5 at approximately 5pm in NICHES Land Trust - Crow's Grove in Williamsport, Indiana.

Classical dancer died in March 2024

Amarnath Ghosh, a 34-year-old trained classical dancer from India, was fatally shot in St. Louis, Missouri.  Ghosh was a Kuchipudi and Bharatnatyam dance exponent from Suri in Bengal's Birbhum district. His death was also highlighted on social media by his friends and associates in India. They appealed to PMO, MEA and US Embassy to intervene. Also, Vivek Taneja, a 41-year-old Indian-origin IT executive, sustained life-threatening injuries during an assault outside a restaurant in Washington.

Student found dead in Boston Campus

Paruchuri Abhijit was found dead on the Boston University campus in March 2024. He hailed from Burripalem of district Guntur in Andhra Pradesh. He was the only son of his parents and was good in academics.

Uma Satya Sai Gadde was found dead a few days ago

Mr Uma Satya Sai Gadde, an Indian student in Cleveland, Ohio died in mysterious circumstances. The student's life was lost in a tragic accident. The investigation is going on in this case.

Mohammed Abdul Arfath found dead in Ohio

He was from Hyderabad and was missing since March 7, 2024. Mohammed Abdul Arfath was studying at Cleveland University, Ohio. He went to study in US last May to pursue a master's degree in Information Technology at the University of Ohio. He is the latest victim in the series. The death has been confirmed by the Consulate General of India, New York.







"Anguished to learn that Mr. Mohammed Abdul Arfath, for whom search operation was underway, was found dead in Cleveland, Ohio," said the Consulate General of India, New York.
