some tips about coming to uni
Tips: Look, you can’t judge the whole university by a few people, because every single batch that rolls into BITS Dubai has a completely different dynamic. It’s a massive mix—you’ll find absolute geniuses who lock themselves in the library, and you’ll find people who just want to goof off or end up misbehaving and causing drama. You just have to find your own crowd and not judge the entire student body based on a few bad apples. Outside the university gates, Dubai is literally insanely safe. You never have to worry about looking over your shoulder, which means you can just channel all your energy into not drowning in the BITS engineering workload.
Likes (Safety): I gave safety a top rating because Dubai is easily one of the safest places in the world. You can literally walk around the city or the DIAC campus area at 3 AM without a single worry, and you can leave your laptop or phone on a food court table without anyone touching it. The peace of mind here is completely unmatched.
However, you need to know the reality of the job scene before coming to BITS Dubai. The placement department isn't going to hand you a corporate role on a silver platter. A lot of the companies coming for campus drives are just early-stage startups offering pretty mediocre, low-paying roles. On top of that, UAE visa laws are incredibly strict—your student visa does not give you the right to just go out and grab a normal part-time job. To work legally, you have to jump through major hoops with MOHRE permits and get an official university NOC. Do not expect to fund your daily life with casual side gigs here; make sure you sort out your finances beforehand.
Dislikes (Part time work): No internships with actual value are offered; most of them are just startups by college universities. The jobs are mediocre, and the college dept. doesn't actually help to land a job. Before joining, please confirm your terms first; you are not allowed to have a part-time job as per your visa.

Tips: Honestly, there isn’t a massive checklist of things you need to do before showing up—just keep an open mind and prepare yourself for the fact that college life is a completely different ball game compared to school. Academically, it’s a big step up. I managed to score a 94.2% on my CBSE 12th boards, which actually bagged me a 20% merit scholarship for my very first semester, and that took a decent bite out of the initial tuition fees. Overall, I’m seriously happy with the engineering course, the whole Dubai vibe, and how the university operates. Moving countries was a big jump, but it’s been completely worth it.
Likes (Safety): I can see how they take initiatives to maintain our safety. Recently, unfortunately, our bus had an accident, but the driver took care of us really, really well. He made sure to get us to a safe location, and my friends and I were then picked up by my dad, and until then the driver was there to make sure we were safe even though he himself was injured and we weren't.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): I just finished second year, so I'm not sure about it. Maybe once I reach the 3rd or 4th year, I'll have a better idea of this, but I had a bad experience with college placement recently, so I don't think their post-study jobs are necessarily that great. But again, this is my opinion from my limited experience.

Genuinely enjoy the experience of a college life balancing, grades and fun.
Tips: See, be prepared for it to definitely be more expensive than the raw figures call for. Secondly, it's a great exposure and a great environment to explore and find things you love to do so be proactive in it. Also, the campus and everything are much cleaner and better than Indian college campuses and all.
Likes (Safety): Dubai is a super safe place to be; you don't need to worry at all about leaving college or forgetting things anywhere at all, as they won't be stolen. Also, you can be roaming alone on the road at 4 am, completely knowing that nothing is going to happen to you and that you'd be safe.
Dislikes (Value for money): Because Dubai is an expensive place to be, and like we all can agree, we're still in an Indian college here, again, it depends on what you gain from it and what placement you get later, but you would definitely be needing a good amount of income to be paying and living here.

Excellent Academic Experience with Room for Better Post-Study Career Opportunities
Tips: The main thing to know about BITS Dubai is that the academic setup is solid, the professors genuinely know their stuff, and the campus facilities are fully up to date. There are always clubs, tech competitions, and random events happening to get involved in. Moving here was an incredibly smooth transition for me because Dubai is a massive melting pot anyway, so you never really feel like an outsider and adapting is a breeze.
On the money side, I didn't get a scholarship myself, but the uni does hand out merit-based fee waivers if your grades are top-tier, so definitely aim for those. Overall, I’ve had a really great experience with the course and living out here. But if I can give you one blunt warning: do not expect a post-study job to just fall into your lap. The UAE market is tough, so you need to look into employment realities early on and spend your entire degree aggressively networking, building up your skills, and locking down internships if you want a real shot at staying after graduation.
Likes (Safety): I gave safety a 5 because honestly, Dubai is easily one of the safest places you could ever live. Whether you're hanging around the BITS campus or out exploring the city, you just never feel like you're in any kind of danger. Campus security is always around, but the whole city itself is just incredibly secure with great lighting, cameras everywhere, and a culture where people actually respect the law. I’ve personally never run into a single sketchy situation here. I have zero issues taking a cab or walking around late at night by myself because you always feel totally comfortable. It’s just a massively welcoming and safe environment for international students.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): I gave post-study jobs a 3 because honestly, trying to figure out what happens after you graduate from the Dubai campus feels like a total guessing game. The uni is pretty vague about where international students actually end up landing roles. It would save everyone a massive headache if the career services team just laid out the cold hard facts—like showing us an actual list of UAE companies that are actively willing to sponsor work visas, what the real starting salaries look like out here, and how many graduates actually get hired full-time each year. Right now, it feels like you're completely left in the dark. We desperately need more career fairs featuring employers who can actually provide visa sponsorship, and a much heavier push on placement support so we aren't just blindly sending out resumes on LinkedIn hoping for a break.

Tips: I'm quite satisfied with my academic progress, and college generally seems to position students well. I got 20% as a basis that my Bachelors academic scores are above 8 CGPA. Based on the courses I'm learning, it is really helpful for my career and job life.
Likes (Post study jobs): Because, as if you still don't have any experience, college always shows you how to get a placement. I go to my internship in the morning, which is paid, and college is in the evening so that I can manage my time accordingly. You have none of the clubs here to join.
Dislikes (Quality of faculty): The faculty is always available to provide guidance. The teaching is very interactive, and you will get a lot of practical experience. I can say the faculty here are from different countries and are very friendly and interactive. It is fun to study here.

My thoughts on bits pilani dubai
Tips: Bits Dubai is a fun place to be. The people are nice to interact with; there is zero discrimination. The academics are challenging, but not so challenging that they take away from the important things about college. If you come here, you will learn about yourself as a person. It's a transformative experience.
Likes (Public transportation): Dubai RTA buses are very accessible for short- to medium-distance travel. Services like buses on demand make it very convenient for students to travel to most day-to-day important parts of the city whenever required. A bus stop right outside the campus makes everything very seamless.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Food options outside the campus are plentiful but often require a trip into more residential parts of Dubai. Ordering food is the most convenient option that people usually go for. Mess options (while decent) are limited. I prefer ordering in most of the time.

Tips: Students coming from India have to respect the culture here and not act like whatever back home because for the people living here all their lives, we call it home and truly respect and are grateful to call this home. The scholarships are great; you get flexible scholarships. But they are a bit stingy with fee dues. Like if u don't pay on time they close registration, etc.
Likes (Safety): Love the country and the safety it provides, and the university itself has good security. The hostels are great but the food not so much. Could work on their menu and make the food a little more edible. And the mess staff are very stingy and don't have enough quantities of food sometimes.
Dislikes (Part time work): It's very hard to find part-time work on campus due to availability and criteria. I feel it would be manageable, but it's just that I haven't gotten an opportunity to do so. But I've heard from my seniors that it could be fun, and you actually learn a lot in the role, be it marketing or scholarship or even teachers' assistant in labs.

INDIAN COLLEGE WITH A FOREIGN CULTURE
Tips: The biggest thing to realize before coming here is that the student crowd is overwhelmingly Indian, but it's a crazy mix because people are flying in from literally all over the world—you've got NRIs from the Gulf, kids straight from India, and expats from everywhere else. You really have to put yourself out there and be open to just talking to anyone to build a solid friend circle. Financially, they actually have a ton of different scholarship tracks you can look into, whether you're a sports person, an academic topper, or whatever else. Tips: Look, if you’re heading to the Dubai campus, the biggest reality check is that the BITS brand name opens doors, but nobody is going to hand you success on a silver platter. The student body is incredibly diverse and you're surrounded by people from all over, but you absolutely have to be a hustler from day one. You need to actively hunt for internships in the local UAE market, network with companies at the campus fests, and jump into the student clubs immediately. The academic grind here is no joke—the grading can be brutal—so if you don't learn how to manage your time between heavy lab assignments and campus life, you'll burn out fast. The resources and the corporate connections are right there, but you have to be the one to grab them if you actually want a rewarding career out of this place.
Likes (Safety): I gave safety a high rating because, let’s be real, Dubai is probably one of the safest places you could ever live as a student. The BITS campus is located inside Academic City, and the security setup here is completely airtight. You honestly don't have to deal with the kind of street crime or sketchy situations you might worry about in other major student hubs around the world. It’s the kind of place where you can comfortably walk back to the hostels or catch a cab at 2:00 AM without feeling on edge at all. The only reason I didn't give it a perfect 5/5 is just standard common sense—you still want to look after your own wallet or phone when you're out in crowded areas in the main city, but on and around campus, the environment is incredibly secure and stress-free
Dislikes (Student Life): Look, I gave student life a 4 out of 5—which honestly feels a bit low compared to the main BITS campuses back in India—mostly because of the unique vibe out here in Dubai. Don't get me wrong, the campus itself is super friendly and the cultural diversity is wild, so you meet people from literally everywhere. There's always some club meeting or a fest happening, but it definitely feels like there's a cap on how crazy student engagement gets. A huge chunk of the crowd here are day scholars who just commute in for classes and head straight back home to Dubai or Sharjah right after. Because of that, the campus can empty out pretty fast in the evenings, which leaves the recreational facilities and weekend events feeling a little quiet. I am satisfied by the university as I learned so many things cross cultural and clubs
Tips: Look, you should only really consider this place if your family has the financial backing and you’re specifically hunting for a prestigious degree while wanting to experience that whole international, global culture vibe in the UAE. Let's be real—it is incredibly expensive. I was lucky enough to snag an institutional scholarship provided by BITS itself, which is a massive help, but the way they do it is they directly deduct that amount from your tuition starting from the second semester onwards. Even with that discount locked in, the whole thing still ended up costing me around 18 lakhs. If you don't manage to qualify for one of their scholarships, you are going to have to pay a seriously heavy price for your education out here, so you definitely need to crunch the numbers before signing up.
Likes (Safety): Dubai is the safest city I have seen; you roam around 3 In the morning to have a McDonald's or Starbucks, no one will bother you or give you security, and the nightlife in Dubai is crazy. The most favorite part of safety is that every college has a lost and found section where you can literally find your lost belongings on campus.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The UAE doesn't offer a permanent offer, and it only gives 1 month of time post-study for job searching, so you have to come to the UAE with the exception of only earning a lifestyle and money. If the UAE gives a chance for permanent residence, I am 200 percent gone and will take it; it literally has a completely different lifestyle and people interaction than India does. The people there are so friendly; this is mainly possible due to rules, safety, and finesse by the country.

Pretty decent, all teachers have phds. So they know what they're doing.
Tips: International college, Indian experience. So don't expect a foreign crowd; just don't get your hopes up regarding that. Except for that, everything is fine. Just maintain your attendance and grades. Rest; you'll figure everything out. Crowds from all over India come here.
Likes (Indian Food): Dubai has immigrants from all around the world, so there's every cuisine at every price range here. We get everything here. However cheap to however fancy, everything, man, everything. And it's better than India because here hygiene is followed; the rules regarding that are very strict.
Dislikes (Part time work): So the reason why I gave it a 2 out of 5 is because the campus has very few on-campus jobs. If we compare this with American and European countries' universities,. We will SEE that they have plenty of on-campus jobs that you can work on part time. But not here; the only jobs are lab assistant, of which only 5-6 are selected.

Tips: It is a nice place with inspiring people and supportive staff and peers. Along with really good faculty members who are willing to help and support students with everything they can provide. The curriculum is very well structured with proper staff members and good leaders.
Likes (Safety): I gave safety a top rating because, honestly, living in Dubai is just a completely different world. The police force here is famously tight and the laws are incredibly strict, but what that actually means for us on a daily basis is that you can wander around campus or head out into the city at three in the morning without a single worry. There's just zero fear of anything shady happening to you. The authorities really don't mess around when it comes to security, so you always feel totally looked after. Honestly, being able to just focus on your degree and have a life without constantly looking over your shoulder is a massive relief.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Well, this is Dubai, and they have their laws, which welcome other countries' citizens, but they prioritize themselves in terms of permanent residence and citizenship and great settlement rights along with not doing anything bad for the other country's citizens' options.

It’s not just about adapting to a new country; the homesickness hits differently when you realize you can’t just hop on a bus or train to see your parents over a normal weekend or a short public holiday. You have to arrive here mentally prepared for that distance. Cultivating that independent mindset early on makes a world of difference when you're learning to manage your own life in a completely new environment, so definitely give yourself some time to mentally prep for the shift before you pack your bags.

Overall good college. Best part is it's in Dubai so the city is the main exposure and advantage.
Tips: There's up to a 50% off scholarship for the first year available by giving an exam and also by board exam results. There are a lot of rich kids here. Academics is relatively easy if you just go to classes and make notes. Clubs are kind of useless and not as international or connected as you'd hope, and there's no honors society or anything like that.
Likes (Public transportation): It's very affordable and convenient; the bus stop is right outside campus. The metro station is a bit far but reachable, and taxi and bus on demand are available conveniently. If you get a studentbole card, then it's very cheap and affordable. And Silicon City and Dragon smart and cheap options are nearby.
Dislikes (Part time work): Students are not allowed to work on student visas. You need to get special permission on your visa if you have to work part-time. There's no part-time work on campus except being a teaching assistant in labs. That also depends on your grades and schedule.

My experience doing CS in Dubai
Tips: Transitioning to Dubai was reasonably easy because of the Indian population in the city. Everyone in the college is friendly enough to have good conversations with. My course curriculum follows the BITS Pilani framework, so that is a big benefit to my studies.
Likes (Value for money): BPDC is an amazing place for building connections and a good, refined network. Lots of opportunities to explore the industry and interact with extremely successful people. The value for money is not just in the placements but also in the environment that is being provided.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Restaurants near campus are amazing. I prefer eating outside when possible, at least 2-3 times per week. I don't cook myself often because the mess serves decent enough food to have it there when I am not able to eat out. Restaurants near the campus are reasonably priced.

Tips: Do the PBIS exam; it's a great scholarship, and overall the university is good, but there are better options in the country, like Birmingham and Amity, which give a better campus, and there is practically no foreign exposure. Only Indians study in bits; no one else in other colleges has other nationalities.
Likes (Post study jobs): Because they got the highest placement rate in the region, about 80 percent, since Bits has been in this region for about 25 years, they have a very good network, so anyone who wants to continue living in Dubai always has a job they can rely on after graduation. In those terms, it's good.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Look, the reason my rating for Indian food is so low is down to the campus mess. On paper, they serve actual Indian dishes and the taste itself is decent enough to get by, but the actual quality control is honestly a massive gamble. We’ve had some pretty grim situations down there—I'm talking multiple students complaining about food poisoning, and people literally spotting cockroaches inside the water filters and around the dining hall. It gets pretty nasty. To give credit where it's due, the management does scramble to fix things and clean up the mess the second a complaint goes viral, but the fact that these hygiene scares keep happening in the first place is why the rating stays low.

Tips: Be prepared to learn how to cook; the veggie meals aren't the best. Punctuality is important Your room will be cold all the time The maximum scholarship is 25% on tuition fees. There is not much international exposure in the college; you will have to step out and travel in groups to save time and money.
Likes (Public transportation): Good buses and metro system A minimum of 3 DHS in bus There is a NOL card that needs a minimum balance of 7.5 dirhams There is an app, Bus on Demand, by the RTA. It takes less time than a bus and is cheaper than a taxi; it can be booked on the spot, so there is no need for an app all the time.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Dubai isn't hiring. The job market is saturated. Marketing and finance are booming, not computers. Tips: Merit scholarships are available, based on your 12th result and continuing with semester-wise results. I learned to be more independent, my personality sharpened, and you'll get a lot of exposure. Do not forget your roots and why you're here, as distractions are easy in Dubai. The rest is all very good. And it is up to you to channel the university potential; they won't spoon-feed you.
Likes (Indian Food): All kinds of Indian cuisines are highly available in all types of pricing ranges. The college is located in Academic City; nearby restaurants are in Silicon Oasis. A 30 min bus ride from college. All varieties of options. National and multinational cuisine. The hostel also offers a mess with decent food.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): The market is not suitable for deep teaching. There are opportunities, but fewer for fresh graduates and more roles in data science, finance, and sales. Off-campus opportunities are more and greater and offer greater pay. But they need you to explore them yourself. Some companies offer 20k-25k to freshers (G42 Group of companies), though it is difficult.

Tips: It was a smooth transition, yes. I did avail myself of a scholarship on my board results for the first semester; it was for 15%. Pretty much satisfied Although being from North India, the college environment was pretty much based around South Indians, as the majority of the students belonged to South India.
Likes (Safety): Even in the recent situation in the UAE, they took care that the safety of students was ensured. For the current situation, they didn’t force anyone to come to college; they allowed a system called CLR, where one is not being forced to give an exam if he/she feels that his/her safety is hindered.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): My chances of permanently settling in this country are one hundred percent. This country is amazing with what it provides to someone who isn’t even a local member of their country; the leaders are amazing. Facility-wise, it is top-notch. I mean, without a doubt, I will permanently immigrate.

TU Munich and Life in Germany
Tips: A lot of things change after you step out of your comfort zone, your home. There is definitely a huge cultural shift, unlike India. The food, the weather, the people you meet, the place you live and share and most importantly, the language. Everything here is in German: road signs, grocery, announcements, etc. Knowing a little bit of knowledge in advance helps a lot and makes things easier! I didn't avail myself of any scholarships, as my university didn't charge any fee for the degree; however, DAAD offers information about all the courses, their admission requirements, all universities, as well as the scholarships available and their deadlines. Germany in general loves paperwork, so if you are interested, brace yourself, as you'll need a lot of documentation to apply. I am personally grateful that I chose this university, as it gave a lot of opportunities to work in different settings, from academic labs to company internships to hospital experience. I worked everywhere and also had the freedom to choose what I wanted to study which subjects to take and what to major in for my degree! It was a wholesome experience! I would definitely recommend it!
Likes (Quality of faculty): You can always approach the faculty during the lecture period and also afterwards regarding internship opportunities; however, you have to be aware, as there is a lot of competition. The teaching method that I personally admire is them giving real-time information on the recent research and the work done, rather than a typical syllabus method where interactive learning happens because of the curiosity! They offer some diversity with mostly German teachers along with guest speakers and lecturers from all over the world.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): I gave post-study jobs a low rating because even though Germany is supposed to have great career prospects, actually landing a job after graduating is a massive uphill battle. People think having TUM on their resume means companies will just fight over them because of the uni's huge reputation and industry ties, but that’s not how it works at all—you still have to grind incredibly hard. Everything boils down to your German fluency, how much past experience you have, and honestly, how bad the market is at the moment. Most of the roles you end up seeing are things like research assistants, lab scientists, tech assistants, or maybe project coordination if you get lucky. Plus, the starting pay usually hovers around €43k to €55k depending on where you land, which isn't mind-blowing considering how insanely expensive it is to live in Munich while you're hunting for work.

Its a Great University and a great course.
Tips: Must learn German at least B1/2 before coming to Germany in general. Cities are much cleaner and more organized. Prices might look way higher on groceries. Satisfied with everything, but the job market is too bad, and getting a job is extremely hard, so be prepared for this.
Likes (Public transportation): It's great! A 49 euro ticket is enough to travel anywhere inside the state. For students it's a really good travel option. Trains, trams, buses, U-bahns, and S-bahns are available options, and all important places are very well connected with great frequencies of transport.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Food is just a variety of breads here. You really miss Indian food, sweets, and snacks here. I generally cook for myself, as it's way cheaper and tastier. Most of the groceries are available in local markets, but if you need Indian dal and spices, you need to get them from Indian markets, which are a bit farther.

TUM -Every student's dream university
Tips: Honestly, making the move out here was pretty smooth overall, but you definitely need a minute to adjust to the local way of doing things. Getting used to that legendary German punctuality and the incredibly blunt, direct communication style is a real trip at first and takes some serious getting used to. On the financial side, I was lucky enough to snag a merit-based scholarship through my home institution back home, which takes a massive weight off your shoulders. Looking back, I’m seriously happy with choosing the Biology Master's program at the TUM Freising campus. The research opportunities out here are absolutely top-tier, and the whole student environment is incredibly international, so you never feel like the odd one out while you're grinding through your lab work.

Tips: When you first arrive at TUM, you're going to get hit with a ton of things that feel incredibly overwhelming and downright impossible to grasp right away, so you really have to give yourself some grace and keep an open mind. The academic setup here is an entirely different beast compared to what we're used to in the Indian education system—there’s zero rote learning or spoon-feeding. Because this is a top-tier technical university, the entire focus is stripped back to pure research and hardcore technical applications. You’ve got to be prepared to shift your whole mindset from just passing exams to actually understanding how to apply the theory in a lab or a project, otherwise, the fast pace will leave you behind.

Tips: I was awarded the Deutschlandstipendium scholarship and got the information via the internet. I am very much satisfied with the university, but the course could be more in-depth. I have transitioned a lot with the system, day-to-day life, by observing the people and learning from them.
Likes (Student Life): In the morning we would attend the lectures and then mostly chill out or catch up with friends, doing project work or part-time job depending on the schedule. There are a lot of student clubs and communities where people can participate. The course also has a WhatsApp group that organizes a few events.
Dislikes (Internships): You need to find your own internship via applying directly on the company portal. There are a few positions also posted on the university page or via email. Yes, you can get the internship in the field of study. Sometimes it's easy to get the internship if you know German.

Fulfilling University Experience with Personal Growth
Tips: I have transitioned a lot. I have experienced a huge cultural shift. I have become more disciplined and independent. No, I had no scholarships. I applied on my own through the portals (no agent involved). I am fully satisfied with the educational prospect of my university. It provided me with a lot of internships and practical courses. Germany can make you feel lonely, but then you learn a lot about yourself. Overall, I am happy with whatever this country has offered.
Likes (Indian Food): Now we have 100s of options for Indian food! There is no scarcity of Indian restaurants or Indian grocery stores. In the locality, the food prices range from 15 to 20 euro/meal for one person. Depending on your location you can find all different cuisines but Asian and Turkish are the prominent ones. I prefer eating inside and I like to cook my own food.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Since the job market is currently going through a rough phase (due to the geopolitical situation), securing a full-time job is not an easy task. We do have more than 500 companies offering sponsor visas for work. Research associate—45000-50k/year (gross); technician/lab assistant—38k-42k (gross) per year.

Part-time jobs at TUM/Munich are available but very competitive.
Tips: Students should know TUM is academically demanding and Munich is one of the most expensive cities to live in, so plan their studies and finance well. Transition is quite smooth as German culture is more independent and punctual. I was admitted in the W-2023 intake which led to tuition feels being < 100/semester. Overall, I'm more than satisfied with TUM, my course and Germany.
Likes (Public transportation): TUM is well connected by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, Tram and Bus. Travel is convenient across Munich and Germany. Students get a discounted Deutschlandticket, around 43/month in 2026, making transport affordable. Kudos to Deutsche Bahn or rather Delay Bahn.
Dislikes (Part time work): Part-time jobs at TUM/Munich are available but very competitive. On-campus HiWi roles are limited, require German and off-campus roles are cumbersome. TUM academics are heavily demanding, so work is hard to manage. The average pay is 15/hr.

Likes (Public transportation): There are student discounts for all of the tickets we buy for travel. I needed around 200-300 euros per 6 months for buying the ticket for travel in Munich. There is also a day trip ticket, a weekly ticket and hour based tickets, Bayern ticket etc for facilitating travel.
Dislikes (Part time work): German knowledge is a must. It becomes difficult to secure a spot in most part time jobs without that. The part time position can be done up to 20 hours per week and the pay depends on whether it is technical or non technical. Takes a few months to secure a job.

Tips: TUM is a highly demanding academically and the students who want to join needs to keep that in mind. With the new fees it is also competitive and expects students to be proactive. There are many research projects, collaborations, job fairs and events but you must actively seek them out. You also need to improve your networking as you will surely meet international students and they will be your support systems until your collage life. The TUM degree will surely offer excellent resources and career prospects but depends largely your initiative and willingness to learn the language as well as stepping outside your comfort zone
Likes (Public transportation): Public transport is one of the best way to travel to and from the university. As the university is in the middle of the city, there are lot of option for travelling. It is also inexpensive as there is a Germany wide ticket that can be brought at student prices.
Dislikes (Internships): In Germany, universities generally do not provide structured guidance or support for internships, as there are not a mandatory requirement. However, students who are interested in pursuing one must find opportunities independently. For these positions, there are numerous job fairs and similar events that help students connect with potential employers.

Hardships for a better future.
Tips: Cultural shift will be there for food and lifestyle but it's not difficult to get used to that. I did not avail any scholarship but people can apply for that and can get up to 300 euros/month. I'm very satisfied with my university, course and the country definitely.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): For the current regulations of the German government its easier to get permanent immigration because now you have to stay at least 5 years for that including your Master's degree so you can work after your degree for 2 years or 3, then you can apply for citizenship here.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Not all companies will do that, also German language is compulsory for that but you can also learn it within 8 months at least up to B2 levels, Analyst or Research Assistant posts are offered with 2000/ month for my course in Biology but if you go into technical lies that's also possible.

An amazing learning experience.
Tips: There are no on-campus placement opportunities. There are student fairs where various companies come and advertise their job openings, but the onus of securing a job lies solely on the student. Knowing German can definitely help you gain some advantage over non German speaking applicants. The program is rigorous, and you will need to study on your own and not expect to be spoon-fed by teachers. The quality of education is great, one of the best you can get. There were no tuition fees for my course. Knowing the German language wasn't required for my course but it definitely helps in the social atmosphere. Munich is slightly more expensive compared to the rest of Germany when it comes to rent and accommodation but the cost of living here is still reasonable.
Likes (Public transportation): Public transportation is very well managed in Europe. The monthly student pass at 40 euros gives access to public transit throughout germany and so it is very helpful. I did not feel the need for owning a car at any point during my stay; the city is very bike friendly too.

Student life is fun yet stressful.
Tips: There were a lot of shifts in terms of how the classes are organised for example there were no mandatory classes to attend.
I had the DAAD scholarship which was paid as a stipend every month of 500 euros for 9 months.
Although some of the student life were stressful, I was completely prepared for what was to come next in terms of professional life.
Likes (Public transportation): The city is very well connected with the underground metro and fast suburban trains. Trams and buses are also very easily accessible. With a student pass, you can travel on all of them for free of any additional charges. The student pass was around 1.50 euros per semester which was very affordable too.
Dislikes (Student Life): Student life in Germany could be stressful with high deadline pressure and a difficult jump to academics from Indian standards. Events on campus would range from a career fair to social events. I had joined various social events as both participants as well as organize. Clubs range from entrepreneur clubs to photography clubs. The biggest stress of student life was the cost of living crisis in Munich as a city.

Likes (Public transportation): I rated 5 for Student Life because my experience at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) in the M.S. Sustainable Resource Management program is both academically enriching and socially vibrant. A typical day involves lectures on sustainability, environmental economics and resource policy, group projects, and independent research, often combined with study sessions in the library or collaboration spaces. What I enjoy most is the strong balance between theory and real-world application, along with TUM's international and interdisciplinary environment. The campus regularly hosts sustainability workshops, industry talks, hackathons, cultural festivals, and networking events, and I participate quite often, especially in academic and sustainability focused events. Program at TUM are highly knowledgeable, research driven and deeply involved in real world sustainability challenges. The faculty is very accessible and approachable; they encourage questions, are responsive during office hours, and actively support students in research and career guidance. The Teaching methodology is unique due to its strong interdisciplinary approach, combining environmental science, economics, policy and practical case studies, often linked to ongoing research projects. The faculty is also highly diverse, with professors and lecturers from various nationalities and academic backgrounds, which brings global perspectives to sustainability and resource management topics.

Good quality education with lot of job opportunities.
Tips: Indian and German cultures are quite different. But if you are open to meeting new people and learn about different cultures, it becomes easy. Learning German beforehand would also be helpful. I didn't avail any scholarships. Very satisfied in terms of education and living experience. And Germany offers a lot of opportunities for jobs as well which helps students find working student jobs or internships.
Likes (Safety): The city is international and very safe. The people are welcoming as well. Almost everyone speaks English. Very rare cases of racism. The campus is also very safe and in case something happens, the police are also very active or you can reach out to the student committee.
Dislikes (Indian Food): It is difficult to find Indian food options in day to day life in general. There are a lot of Indian restaurants in Munich but they are expensive. It can cost 20-30 for a single person meal. I preferred cooking myself as it is cheap and affordable.

Career oriented program.
Tips: TUM made me smart and humble at the same time. If you really introspect, very few things you come across in life are capable of doing this. If you are able to get into TUM then by all probabilities you are one of the smartest guys in your previous university. So you might have a bag of ego with you. As soon as you get into TUM you will realize that most people around you are way smarter than you. This makes you humble. Nevertheless you still have to survive the daunting coursework at TUM and this makes you step out of your comfort zone and push your limits. You will realize that your real limits and your perceived limits are actually not the same. As you can imagine, going through this is a priceless experience.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Professors are insanely busy. But still, they did a great job in preparing and delivering quality lectures. But approaching professors after the lectures is not easy unless it has something to do with our dissertation or some potential industrial collaboration. Some units of the departments of professors function like a consultancy where they provide solutions to industries. They do a good job in applying outcomes of academic research to industries.

Best university in a safe town.
Tips: Strong academics in a very safe, quiet town. Students should be ready for a calm lifestyle and be proactive about internships and learning basic German. The transition is smooth with a cultural shift toward punctuality, rules and independence. Scholarships like Deutschlandstipendium (€300/month), merit based scholarships and also need based depending on the semester are available.
Likes (Safety): Well lit streets, reliable public transport, emergency numbers with quick response, student support services, and strict laws ensure safety. TUM also offers student counselling, emergency contacts and accommodation support !! Straubing is a small, quiet Bavarian town with very low crime rates and a strong sense of community. Germany is considered one of the safest countries for students, including international students. The city feels calm, walkable, and safe even late in the night, especially compared to big cities. Wouldn't say bad but an awkward experience is that occasional staring while walking on the road or in a supermarket, but no serious safety concerns or hostile incidents have happened till now.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): The program has strong academic and research value, but Straubing has a limited local biotech industry. Graduates usually need to relocate to major hubs (Munich, Berlin, Heidelberg) and competition is high, especially without German language proficiency. Also, Germany has hundreds of biotech & pharma companies that can sponsor visas via the EU Blue Card. Typical roles include Research Associate, Bioprocess Engineer, and QC or Regulatory roles with salaries around €20,000–€50,000/year for MSc graduates.
