Adapting abroad has been a rewarding journey academically and culturally.
Tips: Students should be prepared for an academic environment that promotes independence critical thinking and research based learning. The transition was challenging at first because of differences in communication and lifestyle but with the support of both my peers and faculty, I adapted quickly.
Likes (Part time work): On campus jobs are available but competitive opportunities include working in the library dining services or as a teaching assistant. Off campus work is limited due to visa restrictions but my roles may be available under CAT.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There are some Indian restaurants nearb, the authenticity and variety of dishes are limited. Most places offer North Indian cuisine but South Indian or regional dishes are rare. There are also Chinese Italian and American restaurants in the area. The price range for these meals is 10-20.

Incredible experience of DePaul University.
Tips: This college is an amazing place. If you come regularly, you'll feel at home here. There are always events going on related to study and fun. There are so many courses to choose from, and you can apply for scholarships. But the best thing about this college is the people. There are so many people who are always ready to help every person who needs it.
Likes (Post study jobs): The college organises a career fair twice a quarter to help every student. They also help us to build resumes. I do not know much about companies but DePaul makes sure that DePaul students will get a higher level of post after study and get paid well.
Dislikes (Part time work): There are very few jobs available to international students, and they are highly competitive. There are only about 200 jobs available on campus, and there are about 3,000 applications for those jobs. International students are not allowed to work off campus, so it is imperative that they find a job on campus if they want to stay in the country.

Select the course wisely.
Tips: Before joining this college students should be aware of the course which they are choosing and how the location of the college is going benefit their course. The university is better than the other in this location and they provide various resources for the students so the student has to utilize these resources. The university keeps many events for networking so we have to put ourselves out there in order to grab the opportunity.

DePaul university has good visa acceptance rate
Tips: If you want to study in an urban setup then it's good. Other than that ROI is not that great. Public transportation of the city is brilliant and economical for students. However, the tuition cost is a bit higher than usual.
Likes (Public transportation): The CTA has done a great job of transportation CTA spells as Chicago public transport. 8 metro lines are there, and nearly 150 different routes of bus transportation. And we need to pay 105 to the university and they will give us a U pass which we can use in public transport.
Dislikes (Value for money): The tuition fees are high because we are studying in an urban setup and obviously we need to pay more to study here. Based on my experience I thought that studying in an urban setup would give more opportunities but it is not always the case. Lastly, your skills only matter.

Bittersweet experience, needs more industry exposure
Tips: There was a huge cultural shift but it was easy to blend in. I did get a scholarship when I got admitted to the university based on my profile as an undergrad. I'm quite satisfied with the quality of my education and the guidance from my advisors.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculty members that teach are industry working professionals and they give the students exposure to real-world problems. They are quite helpful as well in terms of doubt-solving and even take one-on-one sessions when discussing assignments. Highly appreciate it.
Dislikes (Part time work): It's very difficult to acquire one. As the application process is quite time-consuming and most of the jobs don't even inform you about the status of the application. It was a good experience overall. I am happy to attend and recommend it as a good option.

Good reputation in the city. Not sure if it applies the same outside the city.
Tips: This college is same as any other college. Before coming here make sure you have some work experience. Your life will change after moving here so be ready for that. Something particularly for Chicago, be very careful as the security threats are higher. Last but not least, learn cooking.

Overall- Best University in Illinois
Tips: The courses at De Paul are considered among one of the best in Illinois and are at great ranks among all the universities in the US. The graduates from here are sought by most of the top recruiters. The fee structure is a little on the expensive side but the quality of the education they provide makes it all worth it. Professors are extremely cooperative and helpful, not just in academics but also in guiding job placements and internships. There are two campuses of Depaul University: Lincoln Park and Loop Neighbourhoods of Chicago. Lincoln Park campus is away from all the chaos of the city with a serene environment. The choice of campus depends on the choice of the course one chooses to pursue.
Likes (Internships): In my final year (2022), I got an opportunity for internships at not one or two but three prestigious American firms offering learning in the field of Business Management. The stipend offered by these recruiters was way above my expectations and was as high as $5,000 a month.
Dislikes (Value for money): The fee structure is a little on the expensive side, but the quality of education they provide makes it worth it. The program I am pursuing is one of the most expensive programs and is not affordable without a loan, by most of us. Yet, the experience is amazing.

Costly, tough and worthy. Lincoln campus is at different location and it is for bachelors.
Tips: DePaul University is an expensive school with good course options, but no part-time jobs. The coursework is very tough and challenging. Overall, I am satisfied with the school, but in the present economic situation, it is better to think twice before paying so much for college.
Likes (Indian Food): The city is big and offers many options for dining. There is a place called Devon where you can find everything from Indian food to groceries. Patel Brothers offers a wide variety of food items. You will love the city, but be prepared for high expenses.
Dislikes (Part time work): There are a lot of part-time jobs available on the Lincoln campus, but the competition is fierce. If you live close to the Lincoln campus, you'll have a better chance of finding a job. However, you'll have to commute to the Loop campus for classes.

Surprising yet worthwhile.
Tips: Before joining, just try to know your professors and which subjects they teach as it really helps if you connect with them early. Check the coursework once, learn about the scholarships and assistantships. Join clubs too, because that's where you meet seniors and your first seniors. For coursework, I'd give a 3.7/5 because data science doesn't have its own department yet and I expected slightly more. But for the university and country, 5/5.

Opportunities here are very rare we got to grab them with both hands.
Tips: Cultural shift depends on what kind of person you are; some start adapting to this culture, and a few might need time. I have been offered the Bauer Excellence Scholarship from UH Bauer. It is around $5000, and it makes you eligible for in-state tuition fees, which is 50% of your actual fee.
Likes (Student Life): Student life is too good; you'll explore a lot. The university itself is a great place to hang out. They do have a lot of student clubs, but you'll barely find time to be in them as you will end up spending most of your student life in part-time jobs. But you can explore a lot.
Dislikes (Internships): Internships in the US are highly competitive and significantly tougher to secure compared to those in India. With thousands of qualified candidates around the world applying for a limited number of positions, the selection process is often rigorous.

It’s a good university. Professors are really nice and helpful.
Tips: If you’re a student attending the University of Houston, I highly recommend that you attend the next career fair. The University of Houston is a good university for graduate students. It hosts many events on its campus, and you can make a lot of connections and network with the right people. The professors I’ve had are reliable and easy to talk to. They understand your concerns and help you get through it. They’re friendly and knowledgeable. Love the resources and help I can find at the university. Surely, make connections and network as much as possible. It's a good experience as a graduate student at the University of Houston. There are multiple events that take place, and the campus is a great place, too. There are multiple clubs to join and be a part of. There's so much one can learn and grow. Be a part of the team and network as much as you can.

Go for UoH main campus for quality education and college life.
Tips: Students should educate themselves on the various courses and the part-time positions available. I personally did not avail any scholarships, but there are numerous scholarships to qualify for. The coursework is highly satisfactory, and there is qualified faculty. The quality of education and facilities meets the requirements. The faculty come from varied backgrounds, ranging from Energy, IT, to Food, Service Industries. The experience is worth the fee as it allows individuals to explore personal and professional experiences from a new perspective.
Dislikes (Internships): If you can attend the mixers, internship chances are very high. Though nothing is guaranteed, the chances increase with your participation. The internships will be relevant to your field of study if you target the specific batch of organisations that are of interest to you.

Tips: It took time for me to adjust because it has been a huge transition for me, but I was helped out by the various events organised by my college for international students. Well facilitated college.
Tips: Coming to the US to pursue studies is a dream come true moment for most people. The college system in the US is slightly different than in India. You can get international student scholarships as well as assistantships if you look into the college job and scholarship portals. For some universities, you can also be eligible for an in-state tuition waiver which reduces your tuition fee to half.

Good college if your budget is low and want to settle in Houston. Many Indian people live here.
Tips: The university is in Houston, Texas. So you can easily find Indian food options and grocery shopping in certain areas. Rent is cheaper compared to big cities if you are living together with roommates. The climate is very hot like India with winters being average could but it doesn't snow there. I found people to be very friendly and helpful there, but I went during times of covering from COVID, so I didn't see many people on the street. They gave me a full scholarship for a semester because of my good academic profile. I had a 4 GPA at the end. You'll get emails about these scholarships before the start of the semester also. Professors are also very knowledgeable and good to connect with. Good university if you want to do Master's on a low budget and less crowded city. To find a job, it's best to do networking with professors and the American people there to boost your chances.
Likes (Part time work): Part-time work as a research assistant and a teaching assistant is available for around 12-20 per hour. Off-campus, I also know people who have worked, but they found the job because of their network. At Master's level, it's easily manageable to work and study if you already have studied similar subjects in your Bachelor's. You just have to revise well and pay attention in classes. Stick to the notes and materials the professor gives.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Kind of difficult to find jobs right now. They do help with resume services and job portals; but it's your responsibility also to keep networking with the right people. I think for a beginner you should easily get 60,000 -70,000, also if you have prior internships and certification.
