MBA - Batch of 2026
3.9
Expensive tuition but friendly people.
Tips: I realised the importance of networking and ups killing myself as much as I possibly can and that has helped me see results which is what I would suggest to anyone planning on coming to HEC as if you want to be noticed here, you will have to stand out in a very competitive and academic environment. Professors here are well known and the learning is very industry centric as well. Tuition can be expensive.

Very valuable experience.
Tips: The best part of studying here is the network and exposure. Almost everyone here has come with a goal in mind and group projects are when you. Can truly unleash your creativity. Administration work can sometimes take longer than in other countries and speaking basic French is a must to get around. Satisfied with the quality of education.

Challenging but helpful.
Tips: I have become more self assured and disciplined after coming here as the pace of work university can be quite intense. The university is very global so there are a lot of different cultures and ethnicities including Indians. Getting admitted here was one part of the challenge as the real work starts once you come here but the lessons you learn and experience you will gain will be helpful.
Dislikes (Part time work): I rated 2 on part time jobs as spots on campus are limited and get filled quite fast as those are the most sought after and convenient ones and everyone wants one. For part time work outside of campus, you'll have to be absolutely fluent in French which poses a hindrance.

Less work life balance.
Tips: I did experience some culture shock as there were linguistic barriers but this is mostly outside of campus as within the university, it feels like a typical college experience but with a lot more diversity and expectations. Make sure your foundations are sorted as the classes tend to move along fast and grading is kind of strict for some programs.

Good academics, poor career service, disappointing ROI - My HEC experience,
Tips: Have a clear idea about the role, industry, and location where you want to work. There are not many English-speaking job opportunities in Paris, and the same is true for many other European countries. The college has been increasing its enrollment consistently every year. It's a lot of investment, and apart from studies to an extent, college life, sports, etc., there's no other major value added or ROI. The most significant paint point is that the HEC Talent team, responsible for grooming you and helping you get jobs, is not very helpful. The quality of support, guidance, and talent events is below par. You have to do everything on your own. At the end of the day, all that matters is a job, and having such a bad talent team is just the same. They don't have enough corporate tie-ups. For a top college, they can have more connections in the corporate world. The job market and salaries in Europe are, anyway, depressed. The other most significant paint points are the French administration and language. They are slow, and the overall procedure of getting anything done is complex. Most professors are knowledgeable and highly qualified. There are nice things like Station F, CDL, etc., that help you explore beyond academics. The college campus is simply beautiful. The rooms are small, but that's okay. No restaurant on campus. No dinner is served in the cafeteria, only lunch. The sports facilities are nice. The MBAT tournament is fun. I would not recommend the college to anyone, simply because they don't groom you or provide enough support to get a job.
Likes (Safety): I've always felt safe on and around the HEC Paris campus. There are cameras at most entry points, with the exception, the hostel, the buildings, etc. There's campus security, which I think are 2-3 guards for a huge campus. The students are generally well-behaved, so there's no threat to security. I wouldn't say the college does anything exceptional or extra from a security standpoint. It's just safe in general.
Dislikes (Part time work): The HEC college is in a village 30 minutes from Paris. I found there are no part-time job options nearby. I don't know anyone MBAs or Master's students who work part-time. Some students do online work, but I found nothing physical in the area. I don't think it's possible to do any part-time work while in the MBA program. You just won't get the time.

There are no part-time opportunities available on campus.
Tips: I am who I am personally and professionally because of the things I've learned at college. From living by myself, putting myself out of my comfort zone, and managing my finances. You get shortlisted for scholarships once you've been admitted into the college, is there is no separate application as such. I got the women's high-potential scholarship upon admission, without even applying. However, for Indians, you can apply for the Eiffel scholarship, which is via the government, but I'm not too sure. Overall, I am 100/100 satisfied with the overall experience at the college.
Likes (Safety): There is enough security on campus, and more than that, you're always surrounded by your friends, living in the same/building across you. The campus is 35 km away from the city of Paris, so it is like a little bubble you're living in, with everyone studying at HEC Paris.
Dislikes (Part time work): There are no part-time opportunities available on campus. Additionally, the college does not permit part-time job opportunities because of the hectic academic schedule. Off-campus opportunities are also not feasible as public transport to and fro the campus takes an hour plus.

Masters in International Finance - Batch of 2026

The university is good with great faculty and warm and friendly environment.
Tips: Before you join, you should know that the courses are very hectic, and you should always be more prepared than under-prepared. Also, there are various scholarships offered, and I got the Excellence scholarship worth 10000 Euros. Overall, I am satisfied with the course and the college.
Likes (Post study jobs): After graduating from HEC Paris, I was able to secure a work visa in France. I was also able to get a visa to work in the UK. Most UK companies sponsor visas for work. However, getting a work visa in any European country is not a hurdle. Jobs like Investment Banking, Equity Research, Sales, and Trading are common in my course.
Dislikes (Part time work): We can't do part-time work because the course is very hectic. Academics demand a lot of time; the rest goes into applying for summer internships. So it's advised to plan the budget accordingly and not rely on the income from the part-time. Part-time may be possible for other less hectic courses.

Don't waste your time, money and energy in European colleges.
Tips: Before coming here students should know that it is hard to get post-study job opportunities for Indians unless they speak French. I even noticed an Indian French teacher who could not secure a job after his MBA from HEC. So learn French before coming here and choose wisely whether this is what you want to do. Besides, the city is very safe and secure. The college is located on the outskirts of Paris in a village called Jouy en Josas which is a great city so you can enjoy your time here.

It was an amazing and eye openning experience that changed my future.
Tips: Students should know HEC is not in Paris. Take advantage of the courses by actually taking the programme. Start applying to internships very early. Transition was fine, and no major cultural shock. Prepare yourself to meet people from all around the world who think differently from you. The university was very good, I enjoyed a lot the courses and the country as well.
Likes (Student Life): There are all kinds of clubs, and you can be as active as you want; it's a great way to meet people. The variety includes cultural, parties, sports, academic, and more. I enjoyed meeting people all the time. French courses are also important, as they are the best way to fully integrate.
Dislikes (Indian Food): I prefer eating out as there are no kitchens in each room. Also, time is a constraint, as there are a lot of things going on all the time, and you want to go for the easiest option. Each building has its own kitchen. Cafeteria costs 6 euros per meal, and Gustav costs 12 euros per meal.

SMU: A city-campus with goal oriented, but friendly people
Tips: Quite satisfied with the university. I was able to go outside my comfort zone as school honors participation. I made a lot of friends of different ethnic backgrounds. The professors are extremely helpful too. One thing to note is, you may want to learn how to cook, as eating out can get expensive, especially for vegetarians. :) You'll miss Indian food if you're from the northern states, as SG's local Indian food is mainly southern. Don't forget to use a GOOD deo/antiperspirant because it gets very hot in Singapore and most SMU classes are small in size. Additionally, as Indians, we tend to gravitate more towards other Indians, so try to socialize more with everyone and put up a friendly smile.
Likes (Student Life): It is a city campus with many student-led events. SMU often gives students many opportunities to connect with other students through workshops, also provides free snacks and hosts fun and interesting events involving talents. Moreover, they have many opportunities for students to actually get out of school and go overseas too.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Singapore has strict PR/citizenship policies; most students hoping to even find a job would require companies to sponsor a visa, which many are not willing to do due to additional costs and legal requirements to hire additional locals to compensate for hiring foreigners. Therefore, regardless of hope of PR, finding a job itself is close to impossible. Many of my friends from India came to SG hoping to settle down through a job; however, ones with a 4.0/4 CGPA faced a reality check after 6+ months and 300+ job applications to many companies before finally giving up and applying in India.

Insights to SMU Singapore
Tips: Job hunting is quite difficult in Singapore as a non-local, and SMU generally is not of much help—faculty is great for SOSS and law. Other schools are not that great. - Singapore is an extremely safe country. General discrimination in terms of preferential treatment to locals is there, but no blatant discrimination against anyone.
Likes (Public transportation): Almost every part of the city is connected through buses or trains, and their cost is not much. The campus has two MRT lines as well as a lot of bus stops nearby (and one on campus). It's a city campus, so most schools are near bus stops and MRT stations.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Not many companies are open to hiring non Singaporean local for internships or full time jobs. Very difficult to find jobs. Networking can also net get you too far. Work sponsorship is something most companies are unwilling to pay, and even through great references there is not much scope.

A lot of events and fun work study balance.
Tips: Students should attend the orientation before the classes start. Get a feel of the campus, go around as the different schools are a bit of a walk. But there are public buses that go around as well. Meet the new students during the orientation.
The university facilities are amazing and is located in the heart of the city.
