A great place for flexible and independent learning
Tips: Students should know that the university requires self-study, good time management, and self-discipline. The transition was smooth. No, I didn't avail myself of any scholarships. Overall, I'm somehow satisfied with university, the course, and Germany as a study destination.
Likes (Indian Food): Giving Indian food options a 5/5 was a no-brainer because finding familiar ingredients around campus and the city is surprisingly easy. There’s a great mix of local spots—not just Indian, but also Turkish, Asian, and Italian places if you want a change—with eating out usually running between €7 and €14 per meal.
That said, as an Indian student at IU, I end up cooking at home most days to keep things affordable and healthy. Getting authentic spices, lentils, and basmati rice is super easy thanks to local Indian and Asian supermarkets nearby, so you can easily recreate home-cooked food whenever you get homesick.
Dislikes (Internships): No good internship opportunities from university. Should work very hard to find internships. Limited guidance and support available. Students mostly need to search and apply independently. The available internships are sometimes relevant to the field of study, but more industry connections and career support would be helpful.

It was ok until they switched the campus
Tips: Be flexible because the university recently had a lot of decisions that affected our study, but other than that, it's good to have a side job next to studying. There was a lot of transition that happened, like changing houses multiple times to figure out the best suitable affordable place for studying and work.
Likes (Part time work): Because I don't have to attend classes, I can work 20 hours a week. Apart from studying, working on campus is an option if you have a good German level, but there are more opportunities off campus. There will still be some time to study; the average payout depends on the job, but it goes from 13 to 15 as a minimum wage.
Dislikes (Student Life): Because there are no student activities like parties or student gatherings like there are supposed to be in other universities, most of my day is spent on self-study and work. Sometimes I don't go to classes, but when I go, I attend the class and then go back to study in the library or at home.

Title would be All rounder- I would rate my Uni 8/10.
Tips: It was actually easy for me; my brother also lives here. And of course, there is a lot of culture shock in literally everything, but nothing that a person cannot adjust to. I did not have any scholarship; I work a part-time job and pay for my tuition fee. Overall, I would choose Germany and this course every time; maybe I would go to a different university only because it's a private university and it's expensive.
Likes (Public transportation): Well, the university is in a great location. The bus connection is right outside; supermarkets are a 5-10 minute walk away for middle-class snacks. And transportation is, of course, free; you can travel anywhere with your DB ticket, which the university gives you. You have to pay for it, of course, but it's cheaper for students.
Dislikes (Student Life): Honestly, I don't go to classes as much as I should, but when I do go, it's normal. I go to classes. We have a university canteen for lunch; we hang out in the university cafe in between classes. Our university has its own bar and cafe, we have student event team so they organize all the fun events like Desi night, Indonesian night, jazz night, etc.

My positive journey in Germany
Tips: If you're planning to join IU in Berlin, you should know that the city itself makes the transition incredibly easy. Moving here as a self-funded student was a big financial step for me, but Berlin is so multicultural and international that I didn't experience any real culture shock at all. Apart from getting over the initial hurdle of the German language in day-to-day life—like dealing with local paperwork—you can easily get by with English since the student community and the city are so diverse. The practical, applied sciences setup at IU is quite solid, but the biggest win of studying here is just how well the city works around you. The public transit system is unreal—between the U-Bahn, S-Bahn, and buses, you can get absolutely anywhere in the city at any hour without needing a car. For a self-funded student, having that kind of reliable, integrated transport alongside a welcoming, global atmosphere takes a massive load off your shoulders and makes the whole university experience thoroughly positive.

Very good university for an MBA.
Tips: Students should understand that they are going for a higher studies abroad, meaning they are gonna move, stay, study and probably work part-time as well. So the transition is not gonna be easy. Also, it isn't tough given the seriousness of the student to take up the opportunity for moving to pursue higher education. There is learning in every phase of an international student. There are scholarships available but since it's Germany, there will be a lot of paperwork (bureaucracy). I am very satisfied with my university, course and Germany. Also, I received a dual degree from London South Bank University. I am very glad about it.
Likes (Public transportation): Berlin is the capital of Germany. Therefore, you won't find any trouble travelling within the city. The public transportation offers various modes of transport at an affordable rate but students can travel free of cost as their travel is already included in the Semester ticket which is to be paid to the university semi-annually.
Dislikes (Internships): You have limited guidance on finding or applying for internships. Of course, you can go through mentoring and/or using the power of the internet to find and apply relevant internship opportunities in Germany. Yes, there are enough internship opportunities available but I would say that most of them would be in the German language and/or the organisation or nature of the position will demand fluent German language skills to undertake the role.

Tips: About the reputation of the university, its course curriculum and how much faculty support students to find jobs. They offer scholarships at the start if you are taking admission directly without any third parties. I would prefer to go to a public university instead of a private one.
Likes (Public transportation): My university offers a student ticket on which I can use all public transportation for free. There are U-bahn S-bahn and trams in the whole Berlin. You can use anything with a student ticket that which university provides you at cheap prices. Sometimes in winter you will face some issues but not for a long time.
Dislikes (Value for money): As part of a private university, the tuition I am paying isn't worth. All private universities only care about money but after that, you have to face many issues like support from faculty regarding your course problems or anything. The university has one major issue is every process is online. You have to mail just to get in touch with the faculty.

Adapting to Germany’s punctual and disciplined culture was enriching. I didn’t get a scholarship. I’m very satisfied with the course, university, and life in Germany.
Likes (Safety): Berlin feels very safe and well-organized. Apart from campus security, public transport is well-lit and monitored, emergency services respond quickly, and the city has a strong sense of community.

Job market is tough currently.
Tips: Research is the biggest key to know about anything abroad. Just research well on how to deal with everything when you are abroad, as it might get tough at one point.
It would be brand new for an individual to adjust here with the cultural shifts.
About internships, work experience works here if you have one, you might land somewhere. Tough for a fresher like me to survive.
The university is not really up to the mark regarding everything, as it is facing an issue.
Likes (Safety): Berlin is safe, every city has its own downfalls in a few places, but at the end, it is safe to travel here regardless of any gender, boy or a girl, to travel during the day or at night.
It’s fine to travel at night if you're thinking, some places are unsafe in Berlin, but you could always move to a new place, so not to worry.
Dislikes (Internships): The situation currently in Germany is quite tough for the job market, as students and working professionals as well are finding it hard to land any internships or jobs, as most of the universities won’t spoon feed you on the internships or work to find out.

There are several public universities, try to get admission there.
Tips: Currently, my university student is facing lots of issues related to Visa immigration. And, I saw many students who got reactions from the visa extension. And after all this happened University couldn't help much. Students who paniced face trouble finding jobs. It was so stressful for the students. Berlin is a good place with well structured city as well as cheap transportation.
Dislikes (Value for money): Because I faced lots of issues related to university. The university is not very helpful. Without my concern, they deferred my admission. I tried my best to communicate with them, and I landed in Berlin. After that, they didn't even help me, even though I spent 3 months without papers and documents in Berlin.

Stressful, poor academics.
Tips: This is the worst possible university in Berlin. A lot of discrimination takes place here. Professors are not interested in teaching. You will learn nothing here. The acceptance rate is high as they are going bankrupt.
Likes (Public transportation): My student life was non existent as teachers were never ready to teach. The campus has 0 events. It is a host town. If you want an actual college experience, go somewhere else; you have been warned. IU is poor in every standard and does not even have a real campus.
Dislikes (Value for money): Faculty is the worst, unresponsive, no support. Teaching is monotonous and boring, and lecturers are often underqualified. The only diversity in students is Indians and Pakistanis, same goes for the faculty. Professors are often racist towards students.

Inexpensive university with public university benefits.
Tips: There is an early bird discount, not sure whether it's still available or not. Cultural shift was of course there but with STW and other student organisation, it gets easier to settle down. For scholarships, one can apply to DAAD, which provides a lot of scholarships, even Erasmus.
Likes (Public transportation): Even though trains are cancelled or delayed most of the times, but it is very convenient to travel across Berlin, especially as a student, you get discounted tickets with which you can travel all over Germany. Discounted tickets are 29 euros but students will get them only if they belong to a public university, and the university itself provides the ticket.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Currently in Germany, it is very difficult to find a job. There are openings but there is a big mismatch between supply and demand. It's mostly because of the language barrier. They expect immigrants to speak native level German even for jobs where English can work perfectly. Universities abroad don't provide placements like in India, there are job fairs where you can connect with companies and people. To find a job, it's all about networking.

Tips: I strongly advise students to have a solid financial base as there are significant costs involved including semester tickets, tuition fees and health insurance. I recommend exploring education loan options to cover these expenses everything else is manageable.
Likes (Student Life): The university is located in a very good location with excellent transportation and comfortable accommodations. The spacious, well lit campus, coupled with friendly staff is a major plus. Living in Berlin itself is also a significant advantage as locals are very friendly and respectful.
Dislikes (Indian Food): It's quite difficult to find authentic Indian restaurants in Berlin. Some are overpriced, while others aren't even Indian. There are also very few vegetarian options. I recommend that people cook their own meals most of the time and eat out only 1 to 2 times a week.

It is a good option for entry to Germany.
Tips: Before coming to Germany, make sure you have good language skills and financial backup. If you don't get a job, you'll need to survive after your blocked funds are used up. Due to the economic crisis, newly arrived students are experiencing cost-cutting measures that make survival difficult.
Likes (Safety): It's been 6 months in Berlin, and I've travelled here every hour, even at midnight, and there's nothing to worry about. On weekends, Berlin is more lively and vibrant, so no need to worry about safety. Here, on the street, you can find many beggars, but they won't harm you, and there's police available within a minute.
Dislikes (Part time work): The university campus has a high volume of English speaking students making it difficult for me to find a part time job on campus. I was already finding it hard to find work anywhere in Berlin before coming here. I have to learn some skills in the job market of my field before I can come here. If I learn some German I might have better luck.

Tips: Before joining this university, I would recommend checking online reviews and the alumni of the university on LinkedIn. It’s also important to talk to someone who is currently studying there to find out how they’re managing their studies and what problems they might be facing in their career path and at the university.
Likes (Public transportation): There is a U-Bahn underground train station close to the university and bus stops nearby, making it convenient to access the central train station. The campus is also walkable and accessible by bicycle.
Dislikes (Internships): The college is not helping its students find internships. If they were, then it would be easier for students to get jobs, and easier to advance on their career paths. They should form a network of alumni who have found jobs and can guide current students in the process.

There aren't many internship opportunities available on campus.
Tips: There hasn't been much of a cultural shift since I moved from India, mainly because IU is about 90% Indian students. That gives us a strong sense of being at home here. I didn't receive any scholarship, as None were available at the time. I'm very satisfied with the country—Germany—and the city, Berlin. As for IU, I'm somewhat satisfied, not completely, because in most public universities, you can get admission for free.
Likes (Post study jobs): In Germany, there is no concept of on-campus jobs, so everyone has to find jobs on their own, whether you are from the Technical University of Munich, BSBI, or IU. There are countless opportunities available, but the job roles you are eligible for and the salary packages generally depend on your qualifications, experience, and GPA. Plus, once you start working, you will be provided with a work visa. After five years or three, in the past, you could apply for permanent residence. The only condition is that you must be proficient in German at the C1 level or higher, which could be either C1 or C2.
Dislikes (Internships): At IU, there aren't many internship opportunities available on campus because the teachers aren't permanent and often change. As a result, there isn't a consistent teaching assistant or support staff in place. That's why most students look for work opportunities outside the university. If you're studying Computer Science, you'd search for internships related to your field, and the same goes for BBA and other programs. As I mentioned earlier, the internships can be relevant to your field, as long as you choose the right one.

IUBH with an Indian mindset.
Tips: Most of the students at IU are Indian, so for me, there was not much of a transition. Because of the high Indian students, there are a lot of good Indian restaurants in the area. I did not avail any scholarship. I love it here, except for the harsh language, which I am not used to, but I believe I'll be fine. As the university is for three days a week, it is quite manageable to study and work. There are lots of cafes, restaurants, and places where you can work part-time to earn a living, with potential for 12-30 euros per hour. Overall, I am quite satisfied with my experiences.
Dislikes (Internships): Not a lot of on-campus internships available, but there is a placement cell in the university for jobs and internships. However, the placement cell's prime focus is on jobs rather than internships. Various off-campus internships align with your field of study. I recommend doing your research to find them.

Tips: I would definitely go for permanent residence if I get the chance. Learning German is crucial, C1 level to be exact. The majority of the students are Indian at IU, so I did not face a lot of cultural shift. I also didn't get any scholarships. But I am very satisfied with Berlin and Germany on the whole, and IU offers exactly what they promote on their social media pages and website.
Dislikes (Part time work): There are not a lot of on-campus opportunities, such as teaching assistants and other internships, but on the bright side, the university is located in the prime area of Berlin, so there are a lot of off-campus part-time jobs. The part-time jobs are quite manageable, as you're allowed to work 20 hours a week.

Diverse culture and academics at IU.
Tips: Obviously, there is a cultural shift for you. You are moving here for two years, and you will definitely miss your home culture. But here in Germany, there are many Indians here which will fill that gap.
Likes (Public transportation): The transport system in Germany is easy to navigate and affordable. The metro system is very well connected, and as a student, you'll get many discounts on travel. If you have your own bicycle, you can easily manage the cost of transportation.
Dislikes (Part time work): There are very few on-campus job opportunities, such as student advisory or student representatives. This means there are very few chances to get one of these jobs. As for off-campus jobs, there are internships and jobs at Amazon warehouses. They are pretty manageable, and the average pay is about 12 to 15 euros per hour. I don't have any scholarships, but I'm very satisfied right now.

A place to explore culture and education simultaneously.
Tips: Students should have a good plan for how they will manage their expenses and because the university provides so many facilities students should know how to use them and take advantage of them efficiently. Also the university provides the opportunity to socialise and meet new people, so students should try to take advantage of that as well. Every place is well connected and since I have my student ID, I can travel freely to some extent and visit different places, all at affordable prices. I don’t mind paying a set fare if it means that I can travel to different places safely. Also, the travel from my room to university takes a minimum amount of time and the trains are available at every moment.

University was Satisfactory
Tips: It's a good university with a lot of courses. There are options for scholarships, but I did not know how to avail myself of them. I am 80 percent satisfied because the course was pretty old and needed some changes because of changing technology, but I am not sure about this year; it is always better to check the university website.
Likes (Value for money): Tuition feels is very less compared to other West region Universities. It was around 380 euros, which is very little compared to a few other universities. Also, there are some universities with fewer fests per semester as well. Also, Chemnitz is very cheap comparatively, having less rent.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): This region in East Germany requires good German skills compared to other regions, and typically it is harder for English speakers to land a job. That's a different story if you receive a job that's the work-from-home type. That's why 3, because it is not impossible.

Tips: Plan your finances. Get in international groups. Schedule and register for classes in advance. Learn German every day. There are many scholarship options, but you need to apply early with really good achievements. Try to communicate with others and learn many things.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): If you are a Blue Card holder and have worked 21 months in Germany with a B1 level of German, then you can be a permanent residency holder. Ways of living, health care, public transport, and work-life balance are good. I would not shift permanently due to high taxation and difficult bureaucracy. It is difficult with German bureaucracy. They do not support you if you cannot speak good German.

Tips: As for the city itself, I barely felt any culture shock coming to Chemnitz. Because the international crowd on campus is so big, you end up hanging out mostly with other foreign students rather than really integrating into local German life. Everything feels pretty globalized anyway, so it wasn't the huge, transformative experience I pictured. Also, there are basically zero university scholarships—you're paying for everything yourself or working part-time. If you want an exotic study-abroad adventure, this isn't it; it's just a quiet, regular routine.
Likes (Public transportation): I gave public transport a high rating because getting around Chemnitz—and even traveling around Saxony—is effortless as a student. Your student ID includes the Semesterticket, which gives you unlimited rides on all the CVAG buses and trams in the city, plus regional trains across the whole state without paying anything extra.
The Reichenhainer Straße campus is connected directly by the tram lines, so getting to the city center, the main train station (Hbf), or local shopping spots takes no time at all. Buses and trams run around the clock, so getting around is dead cheap whether you're right next to campus or living further out.
Dislikes (Part time work): Low-economy region. Not many technical as well as odd jobs in this city and nearby area. Part-time work can be managed except the exam period depending on type of work and boss The average payout depends on time, location and type of work, but minimum wage start from 14 euro per hour.

My Experience at TU Chemnitz
Tips: Moving to Chemnitz was surprisingly smooth, mostly because the cost of living here is way cheaper than in major German cities. That said, getting used to the structured German lifestyle and picking up enough German to survive definitely took some time and effort. I didn't get any scholarships, so I had to self-fund everything by working part-time while studying.
At the end of the day, I'm glad I chose TU Chemnitz. The education quality is solid, the degree gives you practical technical skills that employers actually respect, and if you're willing to put in the work to learn the language and manage your time, the long-term career prospects in Germany make the effort totally worth it.
Dislikes (Internships): Getting an internship at TU Chemnitz is definitely a mixed bag, which is why I gave it a 3/5. On paper, there are plenty of solid automotive and engineering roles around, but actually landing one is a massive headache. Most firms want prior experience and fluent German—especially if you're working directly with local engineering teams or clients where English just won't cut it.
You basically have to send out dozens of applications and be open to moving or commuting to places like Dresden, Leipzig, or Zwickau where the bigger industrial opportunities are. The university’s job portal, career fairs, and resume workshops are fine for basic guidance, but don't expect them to place you anywhere—you have to do all the heavy lifting yourself.

It’s really good and easy to start international life being more Indian students
Tips: I am satisfied, and students should be hardworking and focused. No, I didn’t get scholarships because it is free already, Umm, except for food and climate; not much cultural shift, I would say. It’s just 300€ per sem, and transportation is free of cost here, so no more expenses.
Likes (Internships): It’s easy to get internships and part-time tech jobs. I work at Bosch, and it was not tough at all to get in. Focus on Bosch and its tasks and try to complete as soon as possible You need to apply to at least 10 jobs every day for 2-3 months to get it and prepare well.
Dislikes (Indian Food): I prefer cooking at home because German food is bland for Indians, and Indian restaurants are way too expensive. Indian groceries are not tough to find and cheap as well But make sure you get all the spices from India, as they are very much expensive.

Tips: Start learning German immediately—don't wait until you actually land in Chemnitz. Trying to get by on English alone makes life way harder than it needs to be. Even for basic part-time jobs, student worker positions (Werkstudent), or internships around Saxony, speaking German is pretty much essential—you will struggle to find anything if you only rely on English.
As for the academics, be prepared for a very traditional, theory-heavy curriculum. The coursework at TUDC/TU Chemnitz focuses heavily on fundamental theory and written exams rather than modern hands-on projects, so you'll need to do a lot of self-study to keep up. While the university facilities themselves are decent and the cost of living in Chemnitz is super cheap, the city itself can feel quiet and isolated compared to places like Leipzig, Dresden, or Munich. If you have offers from universities in bigger or more dynamic student cities, I’d honestly recommend considering those first.

Tips: Moving out to Germany means getting hit with a massive culture shock right out of the gate, especially when you're trying to navigate the language barrier, the completely different food and how locals interact. But honestly, once you're inside the TU Chemnitz campus, it gets way easier because there’s a huge, incredibly active community of Indian students who genuinely look out for the newbies and help you settle in. There’s always stuff happening with different student clubs and cultural fests where you can volunteer, get involved, and meet people from all over the place. On the money side, if you knuckle down and keep your grades sharp—we’re talking landing a solid 1.3 to 1.6 in the German system—you can actually grab some decent scholarships. The university itself hands out funding that’s worth around 600 euros a month for a full year, plus you can always look into extra grants through DAAD to help cover your living costs.
Likes (Internships): The master's program is designed in a way with a mandatory internship. So it's very easy to apply for an internship all around Germany without any hurdles. Also, your German-speaking skills and previous work experience play a major role, along with your network. Also, you will be well paid during the internship and end up securing a full-time job in the same company where you do the internship and thesis.
Dislikes (Part time work): Chemnitz is a small town in the state of Saxony, and part-time job opportunities are very limited on campus. You can find off-campus jobs quite easily in Dresden and Leipzig, but you have to travel at least 1 hour. If you can speak German up to the B1 level, you can easily find part-time jobs in Chemnitz with good pay.

You don't need to stress about hunting it down blindly either; the university will directly shoot you an email with instructions on how to apply. It works out to about 300 euros, which gives you a really nice, much-needed financial cushion for daily student life.
As for the academics, the course structure here is solid. One of the best parts about studying at TU Chemnitz is that they bake a mandatory internship right into the curriculum. A Great Learning Experience in Germany
Tips: If you're planning on heading to TU Chemnitz, your absolute number one priority should be picking up at least some basic German before you arrive. While you can get through your actual classes just fine using English, the reality check hits when you start looking for internships or full-time jobs after graduation—that's when German becomes a massive deal. Personally, my transition moving over to Germany went really smoothly. While I was studying, I actually managed to land the DAAD STIBET I scholarship, which was a huge help. You should definitely make it a habit to constantly check the student portal for funding options, especially things like the Deutschlandstepindeium and the Georgius Agricola scholarship. At the end of the day, I’ve been really happy with the university and my specific course. Germany has turned out to be an amazing spot, not just for the high-quality research and education, but also just for growing as a person.

Likes (Value for money): Hardly, I am spending 500 euro per month in Chemnitz, Germany all things included as compared to other cities. It's the cheapest and best city for students. The traveling is free and some great cities like Dresden, liepzig are near to Chemnitz and it's easy to find job there.
Dislikes (Indian Food): For vegetarians, there are very limited options for food. All things like pizza have two or three options for vegetarians. McDonald's only serves non veg burger, etc. For spices also it is very expensive and everytime you have to search for Indian stores to buy some things which are usually expensive.
