Very fulfilling experience.
Tips: The university here is very diverse, and there is plenty of representation on campus. Once you're settled, things move much smoothly and the bus services are free to help you get around. There is an Indian restaurant available, although not as authentic as you might like, but there are plenty of options nearby. I am quite satisfied with my experiences.

Great university for aerospace and Indian students.
Tips: Cultural shock might initially be challenging but the large Indian student population at NC State makes it easy to make friends, which can help ease homesickness. Securing Resident Assistant (RA) or Teaching Assistant (TA) positions is quite competitive so plan accordingly. Finding part-time work is relatively easy; dining jobs offer $10 per hour with a maximum of 20 hours per week, which can cover living expenses if you share a room and budget carefully. Over time you may be able to move into a higher grade or departmental position which is less demanding and offers better pay. Scholarships for Indian nationals are scarce. The university is excellent with a good faculty, well structured coursework and strong research opportunities. Be prepared to dedicate yourself to your studies. The academic approach here differs significantly from Indian universities; cramming won't suffice for good grades. Plan your studies thoroughly

Tips: Living in NCSU has been an adventure in a lot of senses. You will be expected to bring out the best of your potential in the classrooms while being an active part of the community as well so all in all, you will be pretty busy. Tips: What I have realised so far is that while the coursework here is challenging, it can also be rewarding. Tips: After spending a decent amount of time here, I can see that NCSU has made a significant amount of progress in promoting diversity and inclusion which is seen through the multicultural celebrations around campus and representation in the student body as well. Tips: Coming here has been a great decision for me personally. There is good value for money as UNC is more reasonable compared to a lot of universities and is well known for STEM fields hence, this arrangement has worked in my favour. Tips: I had given myself a certain amount of time to get used to the city and settle into my classes which helped my transition. There are good checklists available to let you know what to carry especially when it comes to essentials and documents. Chapel Hill is a very student friendly place but try to wrap up your work before it's too late in the night, as it can get a little too silent.
Likes (Safety): I've personally felt quite safe on campus both in daylight and even when it's dark. There are a lot of people at all times and lots of lighting as well. Patrols also happen regularly and people watch out for each other which feels quite reassuring.

Honest reflections and personal growth on university life abroad (UNC Charlotte).
Tips: No matter which university you go, there is always a lot of transition that's going to happen after coming here. I personally evolved as a person, learnt some good manners and became more independent. This university doesn't offer any scholarships. None of the international students I know received a scholarship. Some universities waive the tuition if you secure a research/teaching assistant position. But here, there is no such scholarship. The university is good, very big and is a nice place. I'm really satisfied with the university except for the value for money. The course curriculum could have been better for my course (HIA). I love this country for the opportunities it gives to aspiring students and people looking to transition into a whole different world. This country makes you laugh, cry, become independent, attach more with your family back home, and gives you wings to fly to places that you never imagined.
Likes (Indian Food): With the Indian population increasing rapidly in Charlotte, there is a rise in new Indian restaurants and food trucks opening each year. I order food online a lot. Sometimes I also go to dine-in with my friends. There are Indian stores around university area which are only a few miles away near university area. I prefer cooking at home most of the time.
Dislikes (Value for money): I paid a tuition of 40 Lacs INR for 4 semesters. Schools in the United States do not offer campus placements like they do in India. Two-hour class each week for a course will not equip you with all the skills you need to secure a job. Self-learning is the key. No matter how good the faculty and the school are, if you don't study by yourself, the reputation of the school can't help. There are schools that do offer a better curriculum and a lot of ongoing research at the same fee, at least for my course. UNC Charlotte is a good option, but I don't think the tuition fee for my course MS in Health Informatics and Analytics is justified. Computer Science/IT courses have less fee than other courses.

Go Niners! A new experience.
Tips: Being more punctual, aligning my schedule properly. Nothing much of cultural shift. I did not get any scholarships. But there are few which you need to continuously monitor. I am completely satisfied with my university, course as it gives a lot of scope both academically and personally.
Likes (Indian Food): There are many Indian cuisine restaurants nearby and the pricing varies for different items and most probably each items cost could be between $1 to $20. There are other cuisines available too. I personally prefer cooking by myself, with friends and rarely at restaurants.
Dislikes (Internships): It depends on how much networking you do, and how actively you interact with people and recruiters. It is a bit difficult process but once you start into it, it's a learning, you will learn day by day. Yes, there are internships relevant to my field of study.

Even if you get any Teaching/Research Assistantships also, compared with most of the universities you will not get any fee waiver. The faculty are very helpful and you can reach out to them anytime. The seniors are really friendly and host many events for us. I am overall satisfied with the university because of its wide variety of opportunities to learn.

A cozy cultural haven with room to grow.
Tips: Learning to live independent is something that Masters teaches you. It is experienced that cultural differences may rise while relating to a new area. However, given the current trend in Indian population growth, this place is our native. Honestly, a lot of events are celebrated with the same grandeur as in India. There aren't many scholarships offered by UNCC, and I hardly ever saw anyone get one. I think UNCC is an excellent place to study and live, with a well-run curriculum and decent living expenses. When compared to other states, Charlotte's weather is actually quite pleasant.
Likes (Public transportation): There are public bus stops on campus as well as two light rail station that provide convenient access to the city. Buses are available throughout the campus for travel between locations. Additionally, all public transit, including the light rail and public buses, is free for students with a UNCC ID.
Dislikes (Internships): There are really few opportunities to get internships because of the current state of the market. Although there are a lot of companies attending the career fair, as of right now, none of them are interested in sponsoring visas. Thus, it's really hard to find an internship these days.

Diverse learning environment.
Tips: My university experience has been smooth after the first semester as by then I was more settled and comfortable. The best thing about studying here is the interdisciplinary form of education and the fact that critical thinking is normal, even encouraged. If you haven't come with a scholarship but perform well enough for a semester or two here, you can potentially still get one based on merit.

Tips: I haven't noticed a significant cultural shift, as there are many Indians here, and you'll be surrounded by them. I also wasn't satisfied with the university because I didn't have a scholarship, and they don't offer them.
Likes (Indian Food): I live in Charlotte, and there are many Indian restaurants and food trucks nearby. The prices are affordable. For example, biryani costs $12, and dosa costs 9. As a South Indian, I've tried all the South Indian restaurants, and they're good. I feel the restaurants here are more South Indian in style, but I prefer both.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Very few companies sponsor F1 visas, making it difficult to find a job. There are job opportunities across all domains, particularly in Computer Science. Big tech companies, such as Meta, Amazon, and Microsoft, often provide sponsorships.

A diverse and career focused experience at UNC Charlotte.
Tips: Before joining UNC Charlotte a student should know that it's a diverse, research oriented university with strong programming in engineering and computer science. The campus is large and active so time management and initiative are key to thriving here. Transitioning here involves adapting to a more independent learning style and a multicultural environment. Transitioning here was smooth academically but I did experience a cultural shift in terms of communication style and learning approach, which gradually helped me grow more confident and open-minded. I received a merit-based scholarship, awarded based on my academic profile and statement of purpose. The scholarship covered part of my tuition, making a big difference financially. I am extremely satisfied with my university, the course structure and the country's welcoming atmosphere.
