Peaceful campus and friendly people.
Tips: The campus is quite vast and teaching style is good as well with a blend of theoretical work and a decent amount of practical application. The weather is pretty much the same all year with hot summers so hydrate throughout. Texas can come off as a bit intimidating but it has a positive friendly vibe especially for students. San Marcos is quite affordable as well when it comes to the cost of living.

Eye opening experience here.
Tips: I would say I have transitioned in a positive manner after coming here as the campus has been friendly, accommodating and helpful especially towards international students. I have seen that administrative work can take longer than anticipated and course registration is an absolute pain. Career fairs are a good way to network but realistically, as an undergrad international student, my job prospects in this country are close to None.

Tips: There was a slight culture shift when I got here but there are plenty of people and international students to find support and companionship from. Build a rapport with your professors and RA once you move in and start classes. The classes are not extremely over competitive and people but you are expected to be proactive and take advantage of the career services in place. Also, don't skip on extra credit.

Tips: My experience here has been quite decent and promising I would say although the process has not been easy. Administration here trends to take a very long time even for the simplest of tasks which can become frustrating especially if you're expecting timely update on internships and other such programs. Tips: Lots of diversity and a very social campus as well which means you'll be exposed to a lot of people and communities. Campus often has a lot going on and in terms of part time jobs, there is limited scope and availability although I did I get a research position through a professor. Tips: My transition was gradual, and all my inhibitions and worries disappeared quite quickly after being on campus for at least two to three weeks. The campus is full of life and quite outdoorsy as well, so if you have wished to pick up a sport, you have the perfect opportunity to do so here. Rent is more reasonable here compared to a lot of other cities, and in class grading is subject to various parameters, not simply your performance on exams. This also depends on your classes and professors and what their basis of grading is.

Tips: Culture shifts are there, but Texas has a lot of Indian representation, so at least your culture is somewhat reserved, and there are food options and Indian restaurants around. Part-time jobs are not for international students so you'll have to rely on saving and budgeting instead. I received a merit based scholarship which ease out the cost of tuition a bit although the cost of living isn't covered. Lots of parties and events are constant here throughout the year so you can expect a breather when classes get too hectic.

The economic crisis and policy changes concerning immigration have made living more challenging.
Tips: The culture here is both inclusive and accepting. You will be a part of some of the most culturally rich environments, with clubs and societies ranging from dramatics to artificial intelligence to sports and so much more. I was given a merit-based scholarship that reduced my tuition by 8,500, which has been helpful. Since this is a big campus, getting a bike would really save time.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Living in the United States these days has become a very far-fetched idea. The economic crisis and policy changes concerning immigration have made living here more challenging. It is even more difficult because student visas have been revoked in some cases.

Likes (Indian Food): I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of Indian restaurants within the vicinity and how popular the cuisine is here. You will never feel out of place and there are specific restaurants for different states such as South Indian, Gujarat, etc. Most of them are pretty reasonable and the Indian grocery stores are quite popular as well.

Tips: I initially found it tricky to settle into the college mainly because I did not have a bank account or a credit card which could be used here since most of the transactions that take place are cashless. Hence, when you get time to settled on campus, make sure you book an appointment with a local bank and the student services who will be very helpful at this time. Side from this, the students are very supportive and the campus hosts a number of sporting events which are very popular here. Tips: The food habits and managing finance are two things I notice that are very different from my home country. Having said that once you get habituated, it is not a big deal to survive. UC Davis has very good TA opportunities and other scholarships that can be utilised for paying the bills and fees. I am very satisfied with my university and the course I am taking. The research opportunities are good. UC Davis has a great bicycle culture. So you will not see much vehicle pollution in Davis. It is a calm and serene college town.

Tips: The engineering and economics programs are renowned here and my program in particular, is quite challenging but also equally rewarding. My class is competitive, so relative grading is a bit of a disadvantage here and there are scholarships which one can secure if they have gotten at least 92% in 12th along with some extra-curriculars to show. All in all, it is a good place to learn and I would recommend it to others.
