German knowledge is a must.
Tips: The subjects are very flexible and we have the opportunity to tailor make our own curriculum including choosing which subjects and how many subjects we can pick in each semester. Labs, internships and seminar sessions can also be chosen in different schools based on interest
Likes (Public transportation): There are student discounts for all of the tickets we buy for travel. I needed around 200-300 euros per 6 months for buying the ticket for travel in Munich. There is also a day trip ticket, a weekly ticket and hour based tickets, Bayern ticket etc for facilitating travel.
Dislikes (Part time work): German knowledge is a must. It becomes difficult to secure a spot in most part time jobs without that. The part time position can be done up to 20 hours per week and the pay depends on whether it is technical or non technical. Takes a few months to secure a job.

Tips: I would recommend coming here for those looking for quality education abroad. Academics are taken very seriously and professors are well known as well. TUM is academically highly demanding.
Tips: TUM is a highly demanding academically and the students who want to join needs to keep that in mind. With the new fees it is also competitive and expects students to be proactive. There are many research projects, collaborations, job fairs and events but you must actively seek them out. You also need to improve your networking as you will surely meet international students and they will be your support systems until your collage life. The TUM degree will surely offer excellent resources and career prospects but depends largely your initiative and willingness to learn the language as well as stepping outside your comfort zone
Likes (Public transportation): Public transport is one of the best way to travel to and from the university. As the university is in the middle of the city, there are lot of option for travelling. It is also inexpensive as there is a Germany wide ticket that can be brought at student prices.
Dislikes (Internships): In Germany, universities generally do not provide structured guidance or support for internships, as there are not a mandatory requirement. However, students who are interested in pursuing one must find opportunities independently. For these positions, there are numerous job fairs and similar events that help students connect with potential employers.

Hardships for a better future.
Tips: Cultural shift will be there for food and lifestyle but it's not difficult to get used to that. I did not avail any scholarship but people can apply for that and can get up to 300 euros/month. I'm very satisfied with my university, course and the country definitely.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): For the current regulations of the German government its easier to get permanent immigration because now you have to stay at least 5 years for that including your Master's degree so you can work after your degree for 2 years or 3, then you can apply for citizenship here.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Not all companies will do that, also German language is compulsory for that but you can also learn it within 8 months at least up to B2 levels, Analyst or Research Assistant posts are offered with 2000/ month for my course in Biology but if you go into technical lies that's also possible.

Studying at the best German university.
Tips: There is a great scope of learning not just in education but also in other areas of life. One learn to live independently and that I believe is the most important characteristic one needs to develop. Moreover it will give you a complete experience of living abroad.
Likes (Student Life): A student can get the maximum exposure to what it means to live alone and as an independent individual. Students will have the best opportunity to explore themselves. There are my things cheaper for students specifically in here too. Thus to gain a great adult life experience, it's the right place.
Dislikes (Safety): The city is very safe for any individual living here. A person can walk the whole night outside and still won't face any problems like theft or any criminal issues. The city is also very safe for women. Since many female students from India also come here and they are able to enjoy their life completely. Good and friendly city.

An amazing learning experience.
Tips: There are no on-campus placement opportunities. There are student fairs where various companies come and advertise their job openings, but the onus of securing a job lies solely on the student. Knowing German can definitely help you gain some advantage over non German speaking applicants. The program is rigorous, and you will need to study on your own and not expect to be spoon-fed by teachers. The quality of education is great, one of the best you can get. There were no tuition fees for my course. Knowing the German language wasn't required for my course but it definitely helps in the social atmosphere. Munich is slightly more expensive compared to the rest of Germany when it comes to rent and accommodation but the cost of living here is still reasonable.
Likes (Public transportation): Public transportation is very well managed in Europe. The monthly student pass at 40 euros gives access to public transit throughout germany and so it is very helpful. I did not feel the need for owning a car at any point during my stay; the city is very bike friendly too.

Student life is fun yet stressful.
Tips: There were a lot of shifts in terms of how the classes are organised for example there were no mandatory classes to attend. I had the DAAD scholarship which was paid as a stipend every month of 500 euros for 9 months. Although some of the student life were stressful, I was completely prepared for what was to come next in terms of professional life.
Likes (Public transportation): The city is very well connected with the underground metro and fast suburban trains. Trams and buses are also very easily accessible. With a student pass, you can travel on all of them for free of any additional charges. The student pass was around 1.50 euros per semester which was very affordable too.
Dislikes (Student Life): Student life in Germany could be stressful with high deadline pressure and a difficult jump to academics from Indian standards. Events on campus would range from a career fair to social events. I had joined various social events as both participants as well as organize. Clubs range from entrepreneur clubs to photography clubs. The biggest stress of student life was the cost of living crisis in Munich as a city.

A strong foundation in sustainability at TUM.
Tips: Before joining the Technical University of Munich (M.S. in Sustainable Resource Management), Students should be prepared for rigorous, research-oriented program with a strong interdisciplinary focus and high academic independence. Transitioning to TUM involved adapting to a structured German academic culture and a more self-driven learning approach, which was a noticeable but enriching culture shift. I was able to avail a merit-based scholarship (Deutschland Stipendium) during my studies that provided partial financial support toward living expenses. I am very satisfied with the quality of education, the sustainability-focused curriculam, and the academic environement in Germany, despite the relatively high cost of living.
Likes (Public transportation): I rated 5 for Student Life because my experience at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) in the M.S. Sustainable Resource Management program is both academically enriching and socially vibrant. A typical day involves lectures on sustainability, environmental economics and resource policy, group projects, and independent research, often combined with study sessions in the library or collaboration spaces. What I enjoy most is the strong balance between theory and real-world application, along with TUM's international and interdisciplinary environment. The campus regularly hosts sustainability workshops, industry talks, hackathons, cultural festivals, and networking events, and I participate quite often, especially in academic and sustainability focused events. There are active student clubs and communities related to sustainability, environmental initiatives, entrepreneurship, sports, and international students, which makes campus life engaging and inclusive.
Dislikes (Part time work): The professors in the Sustainable Resource Management M.S. Program at TUM are highly knowledgeable, research driven and deeply involved in real world sustainability challenges. The faculty is very accessible and approachable; they encourage questions, are responsive during office hours, and actively support students in research and career guidance. The Teaching methodology is unique due to its strong interdisciplinary approach, combining environmental science, economics, policy and practical case studies, often linked to ongoing research projects. The faculty is also highly diverse, with professors and lecturers from various nationalities and academic backgrounds, which brings global perspectives to sustainability and resource management topics.

Good quality education with lot of job opportunities.
Tips: Indian and German cultures are quite different. But if you are open to meeting new people and learn about different cultures, it becomes easy. Learning German beforehand would also be helpful. I didn't avail any scholarships. Very satisfied in terms of education and living experience. And Germany offers a lot of opportunities for jobs as well which helps students find working student jobs or internships.
Likes (Safety): The city is international and very safe. The people are welcoming as well. Almost everyone speaks English. Very rare cases of racism. The campus is also very safe and in case something happens, the police are also very active or you can reach out to the student committee.
Dislikes (Indian Food): It is difficult to find Indian food options in day to day life in general. There are a lot of Indian restaurants in Munich but they are expensive. It can cost 20-30 for a single person meal. I preferred cooking myself as it is cheap and affordable.

Career oriented program.
Tips: TUM made me smart and humble at the same time. If you really introspect, very few things you come across in life are capable of doing this. If you are able to get into TUM then by all probabilities you are one of the smartest guys in your previous university. So you might have a bag of ego with you. As soon as you get into TUM you will realize that most people around you are way smarter than you. This makes you humble. Nevertheless you still have to survive the daunting coursework at TUM and this makes you step out of your comfort zone and push your limits. You will realize that your real limits and your perceived limits are actually not the same. As you can imagine, going through this is a priceless experience.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Professors are insanely busy. But still, they did a great job in preparing and delivering quality lectures. But approaching professors after the lectures is not easy unless it has something to do with our dissertation or some potential industrial collaboration. Some units of the departments of professors function like a consultancy where they provide solutions to industries. They do a good job in applying outcomes of academic research to industries.

Best university in a safe town.
Tips: Strong academics in a very safe, quiet town. Students should be ready for a calm lifestyle and be proactive about internships and learning basic German. The transition is smooth with a cultural shift toward punctuality, rules and independence. Scholarships like Deutschlandstipendium (€300/month), merit based scholarships and also need based depending on the semester are available.
Likes (Safety): Well lit streets, reliable public transport, emergency numbers with quick response, student support services, and strict laws ensure safety. TUM also offers student counselling, emergency contacts and accommodation support !! Straubing is a small, quiet Bavarian town with very low crime rates and a strong sense of community. Germany is considered one of the safest countries for students, including international students. The city feels calm, walkable, and safe even late in the night, especially compared to big cities. Wouldn't say bad but an awkward experience is that occasional staring while walking on the road or in a supermarket, but no serious safety concerns or hostile incidents have happened till now.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): The program has strong academic and research value, but Straubing has a limited local biotech industry. Graduates usually need to relocate to major hubs (Munich, Berlin, Heidelberg) and competition is high, especially without German language proficiency. Also, Germany has hundreds of biotech & pharma companies that can sponsor visas via the EU Blue Card. Typical roles include Research Associate, Bioprocess Engineer, and QC or Regulatory roles with salaries around €20,000–€50,000/year for MSc graduates.

Academically oriented, no sports only research.
Tips: From 2024, tuition was introduce which doesn't attract many international students, since other universities still doesn't take tuition fee. The campus for life sciences is located 30 km away from munich, but has easy access via trains. Peaceful .
Likes (Value for money): There is minimum tuition fee of 85 euros. Hence you get to study, and join internships and do research without spending much. And also there is no stress over lectures and academics, so easy to do part time and studies together. The restaurants and cafe serve within average prices .
Dislikes (Part time work): Freising is a small town, it is difficult to get part time jobs without proper German proficiency. On campus jobs are very rare for Science students. Mostly mini jobs, but not part time. The teach students might sometimes get on campus jobs, but most others need good German language speaking skills. There is a bakery and canteen in the campus which serves pretty nice food.

I gained a lot of knowledge during my education.
Tips: They need to research properly about the course properly. In my opinion, don't select a university based on its ranking in Germany. Select the course that is more interesting to you and learn. Before selecting a course search for career opportunities in the field.
Likes (Public transportation): Due to the Deutschland ticket, it's affordable and people can use any time of public transportation. With this ticket, I have travelled all around Germany at free of cost. Also public transportation is really good and it's almost on time. So especially students can travel all around Germany for free of cost.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Due to the economic crisis and language barriers, companies are not hiring people. Student who have passed need to go back after their job seeking visas. Also, due to a lack of integration with the German culture, which is a major problem. Normally, after education, they are offered a research assistant position in universities and a research institute after Master's degree.

Good opportunities and friendly campus.
Tips: Be ready to invest in learning beyond the syllabus. Required knowledge for an exam or presentation is not limited to the lecture presentations, but self study as well. Look for scholarships in advance to avail them. Finding the right balance between academics, job and social life could be a bit confusing in the beginning but prioritising is the key. Mental health care is a must. Having a good group of friends and classmates would play a way important role in shaping you're life abroad away from home.
Likes (Safety): Having been on that campus, there has never been a moment of unsafe feeling. There are quick helplines in case of any kind of emergency. There was a case where I forgot my mobile phone on the train, but thankfully, the person who found the phone informed us and arranged for a place to collect it from.
Dislikes (Part time work): Part time jobs on campus would depend on your profile from previous degrees and experiences and language flexibility. There are boards for 'Job postings' in the canteen, which would have part time, internship and even PhD postings. There are also databases for internships guiding us through the departments, universities and institutes that we could explore, not only nationally but also internationally. To have a good balance between academics and part -time jobs/internships, on campus opportunities are definitely easier, especially for the initial 1 or 2 semesters, where academics could be a bit intense. Average pay for these jobs would vary, from 13.5 to 15 euros or more depending on the type of job, whether in-campus or outside. For off-campus part time jobs are available and making use of all resources as possible, online sites, job fairs, or even posters in stores that would need a part-time employee.

I did not pay any tuition fees except the student union fees, which were around 75 euros.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculty are very accessible and friendly. We are encouraged to share our inputs freely. Regarding the teaching methodology that I find the most unique is the way the faculty involves everyone in the discussion. In terms of nationality, it is very diverse.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Being a vegetarian I was a little sceptical but there are lots of restaurants, cafes and bakeries around the university. I prefer cooking myself. It’s one of the best university to study in Germany. Also it’s Industry and research oriented.
Tips: Students should first have clarity about choosing their field of study and register for required courses at the earliest so as to get a fixed place, and one of the major things they should do is look for accommodation well in advance. Better to learn a basic level of German or to register for a language course very well in advance, as it's very competitive to get a fixed place.
Likes (Student Life): Student life is on point, we can concentrate on academics and we have a student union which facilitates us to participate in extra-curricular activities as well. So you can enjoy your student life completely and have some opportunity to be part of student perks as tickets for movies, travel everything will be on concession.
Dislikes (Safety): Professors come down themselves to take the classes which is super beneficial as some of them are like veterans in their field of study and one best thing is we have a platform called Moodle where lecturer uploads everything before the class. Some of the courses also have practical experience, so it's one of the good things.

Build connections, set boundaries, and maintain a balance in your work.
Tips: Be friendly and communicate well. Build connections, set boundaries and maintain a balance in your work. Recognise your accomplishments and work honestly, without trying to please everyone.
Likes (Public transportation): Public transportation is well connected from student dorms and the university on weekdays from 7 am to 10 pm in Freising. The Munich campus has better connectivity. In Freising the main modes of transport are buses while in Munich it's Regional trains or S Bahn. Munich also has good U Bahn and tram connectivity. Public transport is affordable, but it often experiences delays.
Dislikes (Part time work): The number of campus jobs is limited, making it somewhat challenging, especially initially. However, it improves over time as you learn the best approach. Besides off campus jobs, such as odd jobs, most require German language skills; if you have an A2 level, many opportunities exist. The average pay for part time work is around 15 to 16 euros/hour for on campus positions and 12.50 to 15 euros/hour for odd jobs.

AUT gave me the best experience to grow professionally.
Tips: All incoming AUT students need to be aware that the workload for the courses there is substantial. It's not going to be a cakewalk, so to speak. There will be a lot of pressure to perform. That's not to say that there will be no time for fun, but it is definitely going to be necessary to plan. There's also the problem of keeping both studies and any part-time work they might be doing in order. I think it's possible to handle both. I was pretty glad I picked AUT.

Diverse university with great learning opportunities and growth.
Tips: We should know fluent English in the aspect of speaking, and also when and where to answer. There will also be a major impact on our lifestyles. I have received an accommodation scholarship for the student accommodation, which I applied for through the university website. New Zealand allows students to settle here after they have completed their course. They allow students to stay there for post-study visas up to three years after completing the course. If you can find a job in your field of study, that is also on the greenlist, then you are eligible for permanent residency. Overall, I am very satisfied with the university and with everything I have chosen so far, although it will also depend on the individual and on their chosen course of study.
Dislikes (Part time work): On-campus part-time jobs are a bit hard to get into, as there will be heaps of applications, however, off-campus jobs are comparatively easy depending on experience and connection. Most of the part-time jobs can be easily manageable with the academics, as the shift will be with our preference.

A transformative educational experience.
Tips: The transition was smooth since New Zealand is an English-speaking country. The people here are friendly and diverse, which made setting in easier. Unfortunately, I could not avail any scholarships as I was unaware of the opportunities available. To students seeking scholarships, I highly recommend checking the university website regularly and there is a deadline. You can also directly contact the scholarship office via email for guidance. Throughout my journey, I have taken on multiple roles, including Student Ambassador, RUOK Advisory as a part-time job, Student Editor, Peer-Reviewer, Volunteer and Entrepreneur. The university is highly supportive of student's needs, and I encourage future students to explore and utilize all available support systems to enhance their experience. Also, before choosing a country to study in, make sure to research the job market. Opportunities can fluctuate, and being informed about employment trends will help make a more strategic decision about the future. Overall, I am very satisfied with my university, course, and life in New Zealand, as I have gained valuable skills and grown both personally and professionally.
Likes (Value for money): The tuition fees are high but the facilities provided are really good. The classrooms, access to libraries, the latest study materials, practical approach to learning, some papers have exams though, and the student services and support system available make the expenditure worth it.
Dislikes (Internships): While there's a lot of guidance available for finding or applying to internships, getting one has been increasingly difficult due to rising competition. Platforms like Summer of Teach provide a great opportunity for paid internships in New Zealand. Internships are available in the related fields of study. Sometimes students must move to a different city within New Zealand to complete the internship.

The faculty are highly knowledgeable and experts in their field.
Tips: There are scholarships that you can avail of at any point of time during your course. There is a considerable number of Indian and Indian food available, so not much of a cultural shift. There is a large number of international students including Chinese and Indians. You have to study yourself and lecturers will only teach assuming you have prior knowledge of the subject. You have to do your homework really well. Overall, I am quite satisfied with my course, university and the country.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): The chances of permanent settlement are really easy. You just have to follow the general immigration path. Given a chance, I might like to permanently immigrate for its peaceful environment and natural beauty. You need to have good references and a network here to land a job as the job market is tight but once you land the first job things get easier.
Dislikes (Public transportation): Transportation is well connected with regular buses at small intervals but the cost of transportation is too high even with student discounts. However, you get a travel pass limit of 50 dollars per week. As an international student that cost seems too high.

Excellent faculty and an amazing university experience.
Tips: The university experience is a lot different from what I had in India. The assignments are very practical, and there is help whenever you ask for it. I availed a scholarship from the Faculty of Arts and Culture which added NZD 5000 towards my fees. I'm very satisfied with the experience.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculty is excellent and extremely approachable. All the professors are very kind and helpful. The entire course is taught in a very practical manner which is helpful to get a job in the future. The faculty is very diverse in terms of nationality.
Dislikes (Public transportation): The campus is well connected with the rest of the city via trains and buses. However, public transport is quite expensive, and trains and buses are either often late or get cancelled at the last moment. While students do receive a discount, the expenses are still not very affordable.

My transformative experience at AUT.
Tips: Coming from a Cambridge board and A Level background I was somewhat familiar with the Western education system. However, adapting to university life in a new country had its challenges. Since I arrived in NZ I have been pursuing my Master's in Engineering while maintaining a full-time job. One of the most notable cultural shifts was the difference in communication style. I found that people here tended to be more direct and informal, which was quite different from the more reserved and formal interactions I was accustomed to. Additionally, social norms around collaboration and group work were different. Teamwork was emphasized and I had to adapt to expressing my ideas more openly in discussions. There were challenges the transition has been enriching and I am fully satisfied with the experiences.

The university is great with friendly people.
Tips: The cultural shift was huge to me, but people were very friendly everywhere I went. I never applied for any kind of scholarship, but I'm sure there is a scholarship opportunity for 1st years. I'm immensely satisfied with my course, university, and the country. I made so many friends, the teaching team is really great, and the country is beautiful and the people are too.
Likes (Student Life): I get to pick my class timings, and all my classes are flexible, so that's the best thing about university life for me. I usually go to university when I have classes, which are usually around 16 hours every week. There are various clubs all around campus, and you can join them whenever you'd like. There are RUOK advisors who check up on students around campus and support them. There are ECMS, sports, math, Compsci, and quite a lot of other clubs. These clubs and events around campus gave me an opportunity to connect with people and make new friends at every event.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There are different kinds of restaurants around, and most of the places serve various cuisines, so there are heaps of options. Also, some places offer student discounts or have special combos for students. It's usually about 15 - 25 Dollars for a person. I prefer cooking meals at home, but there are some really good options if I want to eat out.

It was a diverse, fun, friendly, and helpful environment.
Tips: I didn't feel a bit different from back home, it was the same but 5 times more fun. Students should have to know about the scholarship programme if you are lucky it would be a great help. Very satisfied with the outcome which makes us be engaged in many active programs and has the best speakers and exposure to the companies.

A modern university with diversity, scholarship and post-graduation opportunities.
Tips: The University provides with good exposure and opportunities to mingle with students from different places. I had applied for a scholarship before my arrival unfortunately, I couldn't get it. Many of the recent batch (February intake) students received scholarships for accommodation close to the campus. The University, course and country are good. The 3 year stay back option is really helpful for the students.
Likes (Safety): There are access cars for students to access the university facilities during weekends. There are study rooms that are pre-booked and are accessible during weekends too. People here are generally friendly however, there are reports of increasing crime activities from different parts of the city.
Dislikes (Student Life): Students pursuing PG courses do not spend much time at the University apart from attending lectures or preparing assignments. I had lectures for 2 hours every weekday in the first semester. The final semester comprises just a project with only once a week appointments with the project supervisors. A lot of events are organised by different clubs such as Students Associations, Employability Clubs etc. There are also events related to festivals such as Diwali, Onam etc.

Overall it's a really good and friendly university. I'd recommend it.
Tips: It's all good and nothing to stress about. The faculty is well knowledgeable and helpful. The student hub helps you with any queries you have including the visa and everything later on. There are various events as well as student unions. It is a good university in NZ. The transition some might find it a bit hard but it's all for the better and the climate here compared to other countries it's very peaceful.

Good college with multi cultural diversity and part time opportunities.
Tips: Students should know that adjusting to the time zone can be difficult for a week. I availed 2 scholarships one academic and one for accommodation. I am fully satisfied with the University course and the beauty of NZ. However, the rent is expensive in the city but cheaper on the outskirts and have a good variety of cuisines and a good climate throughout the year.
Likes (Post study jobs): AUT has good networking and connections to the industry, no idea about Sponsor Visas for work but what I have seen is most of the companies require a permanent visa or at least citizenship to be considered to work there, there are multiple roles offered and good salary packages at least for the technology domain.
Dislikes (Part time work): Getting part time work is difficult compared to getting actual work. Managing part time with studies is easy since we are only allowed to work 20 hours max in a week unless it's a semester break where you can work 40, and the average payout is anywhere from 23-30 dollars per hour.

A good place to kick start your international education.
Tips: NZ is a wonderful place in general. So adjusting was not a problem. Finding accommodation is tedious so I suggest international students to opt for university accommodation for the first semester. There are good scholarships on the AUT website. It keeps getting updated regularly.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): For Masters the post study work visa options are attractive. Post that getting residence is also simpler compared to countries like US or UK. They also offer good visitor visa options for dependents. The student's spouse also gets a work visa till the time the student is studying.
Dislikes (Value for money): ROI is comparatively less for the course. The salary for jobs after the course is in the average range, especially for international students. It is however good if anyone plans to take up a Ph.D. after Master since AUT has good research programmes. A few courses are interesting as well.

Try to socialize and build connections.
Tips: There are scholarships available for AUT students. When you apply to the University shortly, they will send you a scholarship link in a few days. You can apply for it. Also you can get a scholarship for student accommodation, i.e Uni lodge. This country and the University are very nice. New country will initially make you homesick, but you will get used to it and in the end start loving it. Quiet and beautiful place to live in. I am 100 % satisfied with uni, course and country. Finding a part time job here is hard and you'll have a long struggle to get the main job after your studies as well. But you will get it done. There is a struggle, but the reward is very fruitful.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculty is top class. Very knowledgeable and will help you a lot in your studies. Most of them will solve your doubt. Many Indian, Kiwi, British and African origin faculties, very diverse. You can email them your doubts and freely ask them. Only one faculty member is not very approachable as he's strict and doesn't welcome your point of view. Will chose debate rather than making you understand. His teaching is good but he's not open to feedback. The rest of the faculty are really good. There are both online classes and offline classes held at the university. Slides are provided on your Canvas app. Assignments are easy and a few subjects will actually help you learn some software.
Dislikes (Internships): From my point of view, I think you will only grab an internship if you have a proper connection with the people in the industry. Through reference and through hard work. Uni doesn't actually help you get one, your hard work does. You have to visit meetups and meet people who are already working in the industry and put yourself in front of them as a professional and communicate with them. You will surely crack an internship.

A fruitless expensive adventure.
Tips: Given the current conditions the move isn't worth it. Better to invest the money elsewhere. Part time job hunting isn't supported and neither is full time job hunting after the course. I would have much rather preferred to have invested the money in the market or opened up a business with it which would've yielded better results.
Dislikes (Student Life): Covid hit as soon as my student life began. Although the university held online classes, there weren't many opportunities to interact with and build relationships with our professors. No activities or guidance were provided to students during this crisis.
