Best in the UK for both best education and that University Life
Tips: I love the multicultural and open-minded thoughts that the whole campus shares regarding everything, and all academics will help you in the best possible ways for your ideas. Very satisfied with the course and university and would recommend this as a path to anyone who wants to experience abroad education.
Likes (Part time work): A lot of opportunities within the university, which are posted on university's website accessible to all students, as well as numerous opportunities in the local market Unless you are interested in regular long-term hardware competitions for which you have to spend countless nights soldering and debugging code. Part-time work is manageable. The avg payout is about £10.50 per hour for both uni and local market jobs.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Not likely in the current political scenario where permanent residency is being lengthened with a 10-year baseline wait. Also, employers here now tend to hire only if you are a citizen or PR holder. Though, if successful in getting a job post-graduation, then PR is obtained in 5 years.

An experience of a lifetime if you're willing to take charge
Tips: If you don't have a scholarship, I would recommend working part-time. It's pretty doable and also a good break from studies. - London is great in terms of public transport. Try to have a basic understanding before going (Oyster card, bus, underground, train, etc.). Otherwise, it may get a bit overwhelming. I would recommend the TFL app.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Faculty gets a high rating because UCL professors are top-tier researchers who are surprisingly accessible during office hours. The level of teaching and depth you get in lectures is incredible. Just keep in mind that UCL relies heavily on self-directed study. Professors expect you to take ownership—they give you the framework and primary literature in class, but going beyond the reading list and digging deeper is entirely up to you.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Permanent immigration gets a low rating because staying in the UK long-term after UCL is a complete minefield. Sure, you get the 2-year Graduate Route visa to work post-graduation, but transitioning from that to a Skilled Worker visa is ridiculously tough. UK salary thresholds keep rising, and a lot of companies flat-out refuse to sponsor international candidates because of the administrative costs. I'd love to settle here if the right sponsored role came along, but as an international student, the immigration policy makes it a constant uphill struggle.

Navigating Academics, Funding, and Life as an International Student at UCL
Tips: Students should know more about the coursework, as well as the academic hierarchy It's explicitly written on the website; having good knowledge will actually help you in setting faster (with respect to courses and academics). Personally, there was no cultural shock, as London was pretty much different nationalities, including Indians in huge numbers. I got a departmental scholarship, which is academically promising. Other bursaries are more like financially based; your parents' financial status comes into play. I felt this was one of the best choices I have made because of its research quality, multidimensional approach, and quality.
Likes (Student Life): Student life is really good in this university, since I am on the clinical side; we are mostly within the hospital grounds, despite that, student volunteers organize variety of programmes every week, specific meetups and leisure parties A lot of events are organized throughout the academic year; that even includes taking students on field trips, and I am specifically part of the football club, Indian dance society, and reading club.
Dislikes (Part time work): Part-time jobs are quite hard to find, especially given the city situation. As it's London, there's massive crowd pull, and likewise opportunities are very competitive Ideally, part-time jobs are manageable when you have your coursework; once after your thesis it becomes little tricky The average payout here in London is 14 pounds per hour.

A great adventure to explore
Tips: The university and country are good, but they have asked for help because, unlike in India, the help is readily available. People are expected to be more independent. In the university the classes are not spoon-feeding like in India. You have to prepare for the classes in order to understand and participate in the classes.
Likes (Indian Food): I gave the local dining scene top marks because King’s Cross and Bloomsbury are stacked with options. You’re definitely not stuck with basic takeout—just a short walk from UCL, there’s Thai street food, Greek gyros, Lebanese wraps, Turkish kebabs, and proper Indian dishes everywhere.
When you need something fast between classes, Canopy Market and King’s Cross station are ideal. Pulling off a filling meal for £10 to £15 in Central London is surprisingly doable. From grab-and-go shawarmas to sit-down treats at Dishoom or a simple biryani, you'll never run out of good spots.
Dislikes (Part time work): Since I was pursuing an LL.M., there were not a lot of part-time work options available for me in the university, nor did I do any part-time jobs. So, I have no information about it. But the internship opportunities at law firms and international firms and organizations were great and always given to us.

Scholarship and career coach connections.
Tips: I am a recipient of the India Excellence Scholarship and I would highly recommend that students apply for scholarships and there are certain trips that they should know before coming here. Connection with the career coaches is very important from the start.
Likes (Indian Food): Back in my home country, I heard that there are very less options for vegetarian or vegan people, but that is not the case, even if each restaurant has just one or two vegetarian options, they are always present plus, it is in very much proximity to the campus, so in brakes, you can go and get yourself a bowl or something to eat.
Dislikes (Value for money): If you can apply for a scholarship, it would be better because even if back in India, you feel it's a small amount that you have received a scholarship, or there are different types of scholarships. Here which you can apply for. For example, the director scholarship which gives you a large amount off.

Friendly people and campus.
Tips: My transition has been similar to almost every other international student here which makes one feel more reassured. My first semester here was quite overwhelming but things fell in place soon after. There is plenty of opportunity if you put yourself out there. Sponsorship has become quite rare now so make sure that you're mentally prepared for all possibilities. I feel the tuition fee for all international students is on the higher end especially when you compare it to local students but the scholarships can make a difference. Also the quality of education has matched up and if you secure a job afterwards, it seems justified.

UCL is amazing, in terms of staff, faculty, and crowd.
Tips: Just be open to making memories, don't stress a lot about employment, and keep putting in regular efforts.
Enjoy time at UCL because usually classes are only 3-4 days a week, go out with your friends. UCL has a lot of good and student friendly bars, and a lot of food joints as well.
No cultural difference, UCL is very acceptable, and students from all over the world come to UCL.
Likes (Student Life): UCL is amazing in terms of staff faculty and crowd. It is located in the heart of London which is the main campus. They have various societies and different events happening almost every day. I was a part of the UCL pro bono project and it was really nice. I participated in 2 to 3 dance events as well and everything was beyond good. UCL is good in terms of getting the right exposure a good crowd and making memorable memories.
Dislikes (Internships): The university provides guidance and support to students however current UK market is challenging. Internships are available applications need to be submitted 5-6 months before and the process requires rigorous and continuous effort. Universities provide websites but an independent application is more important.

Tips: I have transitioned. Scholarships are less so you need to work hard. I didn't really experience a cultural shift because I was quite exposed to Western culture and countries since I was a child. I love London and my university; I graduated last month with a Merit overall and a distinction in my dissertation which is also being published, and I work in London now.
Likes (Internships): Whilst I was in college I used to visit libraries, student cafes, we were in Bloomsbury which was the heart of London, so everything was within walking distance. I was the Vice President of the International Public Affairs Society. UCL has 1000s of societies.
Dislikes (Safety): The department is very accessible and accommodating. The word I'd like to use is student friendly. UCL teaching doesn't just give you facts, it makes you learn how to think critically. The teaching faculty is very diverse. It's a global university. There are people from all nationalities.

Diverse college campus and lots of learning opportunities.
Tips: Coming to UCL has been a transformative experience both academically and personally. The transition helped me grow significantly as an individual. Being surrounded by so many bright and passionate people naturally pushes you to think more deeply about your subject and to constantly improve yourself. I didn't feel a major culture shift as everyone at UCL was incredible pathetic welcoming and respectuful which makes adapting much easier. I feel extremely satisfied with my university course and country as a whole. At UCL I had the opportunity to learn from and work with some of the best professors, all of whom were exceptionally supportive and helpful throughout my academic journey making the experience even more rewarding.
Dislikes (Part time work): Although there are good opportunities both on and off campus, balancing them with the intensity of a one-year masters course is a bit challenging. UCL provides plenty of on-campus roles, especially for Bachelor's students, such as student ambassador positions and paid roles within the UCL Students' Union. UCL's career website is also very helpful, through which students can apply for part-time jobs and paid internships. Off-campus jobs are usually in retail, hospitality, customer service, and administrative work. Part-time work becomes more manageable during vacation when there is more time to catch up on studies. The average payout for part-time work in London typically ranges from 12-15 pounds per hour, and on-campus roles often pay slightly higher, around 14-17 pounds per hour.

A supportive and career focused university experience.
Tips: The cultural shift is manageable and easy to adjust to. London is a great place with amazing culture and a lot of Indian people. I didn't avail any scholarships. I am satisfied with my university - great course structure, guest lectures, research exposure and strong career support make the experience worthwhile.
Likes (Public transportation): Public transport in the UK is highly reliable and well-connected and Citymapper is a true saviour. The campus is linked to the city via buses, tubes, and trains. Transport is convenient, frequent and more expensive than in India, but very efficient and time saving.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The UK settlement rules are strict and constantly changing. A one year Master's make it hard to study, find internships and secure a sponsored job quickly. Changes depend on finding a role within months post-study, especially as ILR now requires 10 years.

UCL pushes you to be the best version of yourself.
Tips: The transition has been challenging. The workload I have is a lot here but then it's a part of the process. It's a prestigious university and hence it's academically rigorous. The best part is that all I have to do is ask for help whenever I'm struggling and there will be people around me who can guide me and help me with anything. I'm very happy and grateful for the opportunity to be a student at UCL and live in London.
Likes (Quality of faculty): I love the campus and the facilities that are provided. There are many amount of clubs and activities being conducted although I don't get to attend them frequently as I am busy. There are clubs for dance, music, debate, educational, academic, research, cultural linguistic societies and many more. I mostly spend my day attending lectures and catching up on them by studying in the library on campus. I also get to spend time with some of my amazing friends I met here.
Dislikes (Student Life): The faculty is really approachable, especially for my field. The kind of research exposure I'm getting here is phenomenal! The lectures involve the professor talking about their lab's research and its findings. The faculty is very diverse and friendly. They're really approachable for any sort of doubts or queries.

Vibrant and diverse campus life.
Tips: It is an amazing college to do an undergraduate degree at. It is friendly and welcoming. The academics are very strong. Student life is beaming thanks to the many student societies, frequent student events and joyful environment on campus. Here, you study hard and party harder.
Likes (Indian Food): There are an innumerable number of Indian restaurants in London, and food from any part of India you want. I was very pleasantly surprised by the taste too. On average, a good meal will cost you about 15-20 pounds pp. I prefer cooking at home than going outside.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): It is a little difficult to obtain a work visa here after the visa requirements have changed. The volatile institutional environment around it discourages employers from hiring Indians, as it would require their support. There is still racism in the wider community.

There are many opportunities to engage and explore.
Tips: Students should know that transitioning into UCL especially the School of Management largely depends on their prior academic environment. For me it was a significant shift because the focus here is much more practical group work, interaction, teamwork and real-world application rather than only lectures or written assignments. From day one classes are highly engaging and you’re encouraged to participate instead of just listening passively. In terms of culture, London is a friendly yet professional place. People here balance warmth and formality very well whether it’s classmates, professors, or even the management team, communication feels open and respectful. Anyone coming from a different cultural or academic background might notice the shift, but it’s easy to adapt. Regarding scholarships, UCL offers limited options directly through the university. Once you receive your offer, they email you the scholarship details. I applied but did not receive one. Still, the process is straightforward. I’m extremely satisfied with my course and the university overall. The only minor drawback is that UCL has three campuses, and most events and societies are centered around Bloomsbury. Since SOM is in Canary Wharf, travel can feel expensive and sometimes makes us feel slightly distant from the main campus vibe. However, the SOM campus itself is stunning being on one of the top floors with panoramic views of London, sunsets, the skyline, Tower Bridge, and the London Eye is something truly special. The course content is well balanced and prepares you for the actual management world. As for the country, the UK, especially London, is welcoming, diverse, and full of opportunities. Living here genuinely feels like fulfilling a dream and gives a strong main character energy.
Likes (Student Life): Even with a busy academic schedule, there are many opportunities to engage and explore. As a management student I have compulsory 3 hour lectures every day and at least once a week I attend seminars or workshops that are optional but very enriching. UCL has three campuses- UCL School of Management where all management lectures happen, Bloomsbury and UCL East. Most social events take place at Bloomsbury. Our SOM campus mainly hosts academic sessions. Student clubs and communities aren’t campus-specific; they are open to all UCL students. There are clubs for arts, sports, music, reading, dance, hiking, cooking, cultural and religious groups, pride communities, and even niche ones like the Cat Club. The vibrancy of the UCL student community and the wide range of opportunities make student life active and enjoyable.
Dislikes (Indian Food): I prefer cooking for myself than eating out. it is affordable and allows me to choose exactly what I want. In Canary Wharf there are a few good Indian restaurants such as Dishoom Kricket IndiGo Rasoi Manjal and Mala by the riverside.

Tips: The study of my course is more practical based rather than being more theoretical. Always look for the UCL scholarship page. If you are looking forward to joining UCL for your studies, look for the scholarships, as it becomes value for money when you can get a scholarship. Nonetheless, the experience is marvellous at UCL. It carries an attack on my reputation for the money that I have put in. I'm completely satisfied with the outcome.
Likes (Student Life): The student life at UCL is fantastic. It's amazing. It's the best you can get their students from all over the world. There is a lot of cultural diversity. You get to interact with people having an experience of every sort. There are numerous clubs and societies. There is an Indian society as well for the Indian students. Frequent events are on the campus.
Dislikes (Value for money): The fee for the university is quite high. It's on the higher side with a range up to 40 lacs per year. Although I got this scholarship which covers 60% of my tuition fee, it became value for money for me, but if you do not get a scholarship, then it's not value for money.

Resilient, purposeful and introspective.
Tips: I guess I have become more responsible, capable of handling my own finances and life. It’s overwhelming in the beginning, but once you find your ground and you start to make friends, it gets easier with time. Of course, there is a cultural and a mindset shift. The UK is more liberal, you can become your own person and craft your story in your own way.
Likes (Student Life): UCL has a lot to offer if you are ready and proactive to take on the opportunities. There are pro bono projects that you can be part of, social groups and creative societies such as Fashion society, International Politics, Dance, Cycling, Tennis, and travelling. Events vary across meet and greet sessions, career fairs, CV building workshops and some fun pop cultural events as well. I tried to participate in as many extra-curricular projects as I could, whilst balancing studies for my Master's. I stayed in uni halls as they are a great place to meet international people and make friends.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): It’s competitive to get a skilled worker job but once you do get it, it gets slightly easier to eventually get a permanent status. I am not sure if I would like to stay in the UK permanently but for the next few years, I definitely do see myself working here. It's been almost 4 years and London feels home now. I like my career transition path but I might or might not eventually move back to Delhi.

Tips: Know what you want to do. Start applying early on. Get your application right. It’s not that easy to get admission here. Once you come here you’ll be overwhelmed by the sheer vastness of the city and the uni, but do not let it intimidate you. Strive to do your best and aim to work here after graduation, so that it’s all worth it.
Likes (Student Life): From classes to pubs to society activities, it’s all great. You get to explore central London, which has a rustic yet modern feel to it. The east campus is in Canary Wharf, the business district, so that you get the corporate feel. The faculty is one of the best in the world, ranking is good, academically oriented and produces future assets, i.e., the graduates.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Chances are low because of the new and stricter immigration rules. Since the new rules introduced in July 2025 made it more difficult for companies to sponsor visas for jobs, it’s gonna be very hard to secure a permanent role after graduation. But you still have to try.

An adventurous year in London and UCL.
Tips: UCL is a highly competitive university, and one has to work twice as hard to score well in comparison to an Indian university. Also, there are 3 terms in a year - this means that classes will be held in the first 2 terms, and the last term is for exams/final assessment and research essay. UCL is also strict about the usage of AI or ChatGPT for assignments.
Likes (Quality of faculty): UCL is one of the oldest institutions in the UK, so all the professors are highly educated and accomplished in their fields. In the law faculty, I have seen the Law Commission as a professor; the lawyer of the Queen is also a professor. So, you don't have to worry about the quality of education here as it will be world-class, and the employers recognise this institute and give preference to the UCL students.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): I don't know much about the permanent settlement or immigration information in the UK, as I am a current student at UCL and I don't wish to apply for the same, but I hope that whoever wishes to apply for it does not get disappointed about the same. But the facilities here are easy to use, and people are quite friendly, so you can get more information after reaching London.

My college has been a transformative experience so far, shaping both academic and career growth.
Tips: My transition was particularly from Mumbai to London, so I didn't really have problem adjusting to the fast paced life here. I did get an internal scholarship of 50 percent, your SOP is very critical for that. The university offers multiple modules to choose from. It is ranked as one of the top most universities in the world and it couldn't get better than that.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculty is way more approachable and helpful. You can always visit them during office hours or drop an email. The course is content heavy and mostly your understanding of the class depends on how well you have completed the readings that were offered to you prior. Solicitors and barristers from around the world are teaching the course and UCL has a big alumni base.
Dislikes (Safety): The campus is around Central London and not the Gate. There have been instances of theft. The campus security is top notch but they themselves can't do a lot about the outside situation. One has to be careful walking in these areas. Also, avoid travelling alone initially.

Avoid studying in high ranked universities in places like London
Tips: Avoid coming to the United Kingdom or London, there is a housing and eco-crisis going on currently, opportunities are very limited. Go to places like the Netherlands or Germany instead. There are hardly opportunities for everyone. There is no global exposure also, UK is filled with Indians.
Dislikes (Value for money): Definitely not a value for money, professors arena like the Indians ones, everything needs to be done on our own! Engagement opportunities are minimal, it's just restricted to two floors. Lack of practical exposure and you still get tested based on examinations.

Tips: They should have at least a good amount of experience related to their course so that they can fetch a job. They should know how to handle personal time, part-time time, and academic time because your days will be hectic and you will be stressed all the time if you don’t manage the time properly.
Likes (Safety): Galway is safer during nighttime. Police will help you if you face any security issues. Personally, I didn’t see any racial discrimination or any threats. Even in a pub, you won’t feel any insecurity about threats. Everything here is a process; no bribery or anything works.
Dislikes (Internships): There will be no internships provided for the master's students. You can fetch it based upon your skills from outside. College will guide you for the internship, but they won’t provide it to you. Outside also, it will be difficult to get an internship since the job market is kind of unstable.

Life as a Student in University of Galway
Tips: There's a very big Indian community on campus, which is nice. The transition period is definitely tough. The weather is very different, and it's definitely harder to get some stuff here than it is in India. Probably the biggest culture shift is the emphasis on independence and doing it yourself. There are no services like BlinkIt, no inter-city parcel service, and Uber is expensive. Students are quite reliant on public transport. If you can, definitely buy a cycle! You can get them second-hand for cheaper, quite easily. I didn't avail of any scholarships. The cost of living is high here, so make sure to keep a budget. Irish people are very friendly, so make sure to be friendly back! Making friends with locals is awesome and fun, and they can show you around and help you adjust a bit better than fellow internationals in some ways. Social etiquette is quite big here. Be mindful of not skipping in queues and not taking too many freebies when free stuff is up for grabs in college. Taking too much can be viewed poorly. There are many Asian grocers around so you can get most vegetables and a lot of dry groceries here easily. I love my university and course! It's such a wonderful city to study in. Galway is very much a student city, as a big part of the population is university students. As such, there are always a lot of fun events happening both in the city and on campus. Connections to other Irish cities are good, so you can explore the rest of Ireland with relative ease. My course is extremely busy and quite full-on, so my free time is definitely limited. This isn't the case for other courses, though. I would definitely recommend my university!
Dislikes (Part time work): I gave Part-Time Work a low rating because trying to land a flexible job around Galway is way harder than people expect. On-campus roles exist, but they are ridiculously competitive and almost always go to returning students who hear about openings before the term even starts. As a first-year or new master's student, you're pretty much locked out of those early on.
Off-campus, you’re competing with thousands of other students for basic retail or pub shifts down around Shop Street and the Latin Quarter. Even with Ireland's minimum wage sitting at €14.15 an hour now, getting enough consistent hours to cover rent is the real struggle. Plus, if your modules have heavy coursework or lab hours, juggling late weekend shifts in hospitality alongside early morning lectures on campus gets exhausting very quickly.

Tips: The biggest advice I can give anyone heading to the University of Galway is to sort your finances and accommodation as early as humanly possible. Living costs and rent in Galway have climbed fast, so you need a solid financial buffer.
While the university and the city are super welcoming to international students, the job market requires early action. Don't wait until you hand in your final dissertation to start job hunting—build your network, pick up practical certifications, and target working-student roles right from year one.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): The low rating comes down to how competitive and slow the hiring process is in Ireland. Having two years on the Stamp 1G visa is great on paper, but plenty of employers still hesitate to hire international students if it involves future visa sponsorship. Landing a solid role that actually matches your qualifications takes months of applications. Since Galway’s job market is smaller compared to Dublin, building a local network from scratch takes serious effort while you're still studying.

NUIG is a good place to start your Career journey.
Tips: Look, moving to Galway for university is great, but housing here is an absolute nightmare right now. Do not wait until you land to figure out accommodation—start hunting on Daft.ie or student Facebook groups months ahead, and broaden your search to places like Terryland, Newcastle, or even commuting in from Oranmore or Athenry, unless you want to spend your first month burning cash in overpriced hostels.
On the job side, if you're on a Stamp 2 visa, keep in mind you're capped at 20 hours a week during term time and 40 during holidays, and you'll need to sort out a PPSN with Social Protection pretty quickly so you don't get hit with emergency tax. The best way to land a part-time job is still handing CVs directly into shops and pubs around Eyre Square.
Also, learn to cook a few cheap meals before coming over, because eating out around Shop Street eats through a budget ridiculously fast. And finally, show up to lectures, but definitely drop by society events at Áras na Mac Léinn or grab a coffee at the Bialann early on—joining clubs is hands down the easiest way to make actual friends here.

Bittersweet Experiences in Ireland
Tips: For me, my experience has been bittersweet. There are things that make your life hard; loneliness gets you because of the gloomy weather. However, majorly, the people are sweet here. You get rewarded for your intelligence—scholarships are there. I do love this country, but I won't settle down here.
Likes (Value for money): I have heard from my seniors here; they have increased and will keep on gradually increasing tuition fees every year. I do feel it is worth it, but I have seen similar course design at other universities abroad with fewer resources. There are similar courses in Germany and Canada with less tuition fees.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): College has an absolutely vital department called the "Career Development Centre," which posts and helps students with internships and full-time job roles. They help you polish your CV and the skills you need to exhibit while giving an interview. For a fresh graduate role, the package is generally €24,000-30,000. However, obviously, no role is guaranteed.

A Rewarding Academic Journey At University Of Galway
Tips: Moving out here was honestly a pretty smooth transition for me, but you definitely need to prepare yourself for a few things. The biggest adjustments are getting used to how independent the learning style is, bracing yourself for the crazy Irish weather, and tuning your ears to the local accents—though the friendly vibe around campus makes settling in a lot easier. I didn't land any scholarships myself, so I ended up funding everything independently. Because of that, I highly recommend digging through the university website early to see what funding options might be open to you. Overall, I’m really happy with my time at Galway. The courses are super industry-focused, the university actually supports its students, and Ireland is just a really welcoming place to live with solid career options after you finish.
Likes (Public transportation): I gave public transport a top rating because getting around Galway from the university is honestly a breeze. The bus network links the campus, the city center, and all the main student residential areas incredibly well, so you never feel stranded. For the most part, the buses run regularly enough and the student fares won't break the bank, which is a massive plus when you're trying to avoid walking home in the constant Galway rain. The only real downside is that the schedule definitely thins out late at night, so if you're out past a certain hour, you’ll either be walking or splitting a taxi with friends. But for everyday commuting, it’s completely solid.
Dislikes (Part time work): Jobs are honestly pretty scarce compared to the sheer number of students looking, so you can't afford to sit around—get your CVs out early and constantly badger employers for updates. Once exams roll around, you literally just have to put everything else on the back burner, buckle down, and map out your days properly. If you do land something, the silver lining is that part-time pay averages about 14.15 euros an hour which goes a long way when you're trying to cover your expenses.

A great learning experience
Tips: Honestly, just showing up to your lectures at Galway is only going to get you so far. Getting ahead here really comes down to throwing yourself into things outside of class—like joining the campus societies, hunting down internships, and showing up to networking events. It completely changes the game for your career and honestly helps you grow a lot as a person.
The big challenge is that you have to learn how to manage your time fast. Between the heavy coursework, society events, and just enjoying life in Galway, it’s super easy to get overwhelmed. You really have to find a solid balance between hitting the books at the library and actually having a social life, otherwise you'll burn out pretty quickly.
Likes (Student Life): I rated students' lives as a 5 because as a student you get a lot of opportunities to participate in events, clubs, or any extracurricular activities. It made it super easy to balance classes with hanging out, so you could actually make real friends, pick up some useful skills, and just genuinely enjoy your time at uni without burning out.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): I have rated it 3 because there are permanent settlement options available, but there is still a chance of improvement, and as nowadays most people are moving abroad, the government has initiated making the rules strict for all immigrants by applying certain conditions to their salary threshold and certain jobs that they are working. People with high-skilled jobs and salary will be able to get permanent settlement.

Cheers to a new beginning
Tips: Before coming out here, just realize studying abroad is a massive lifestyle overhaul. You’ve got to handle everything yourself—cooking, strict budgeting, and balancing part-time work with classes.
The academic system is a huge shift from India, too. It’s all about practical learning, endless assignments and independent research rather than just cramming for one final exam. Honestly, the culture shock and getting used to different accents in class was a steep learning curve at first. But forcing myself to hang out with people from all over the world completely boosted my confidence. At the end of the day, you realize it’s way less about the actual degree and more about just learning how to survive on your own.
Likes (Safety): I gave safety a 4-star rating mostly because the country and the city feel genuinely safe for students compared to a lot of other places. Public transport runs reliably, emergency services are easy to reach, and people generally follow the rules. On campus, there's decent security, student support, and clear guidelines that make you feel secure.
Plus, student housing usually has secure entry systems and CCTV, and public spots are well-monitored. The uni also sets up international student orientations to cover local laws and emergency numbers, and they offer mental health counseling if you're struggling. My own experience here has been super positive. People are respectful and helpful especially with international students and I've always felt perfectly fine using public transport or walking around during normal hours. The multicultural vibe definitely makes you feel welcome. That said, it’s still a city, so you have to keep your wits about you. You’ll occasionally run into anti-social behavior, petty theft or rowdy drunk people at night especially on weekends. It's just smart to avoid isolated spots late at night and stay aware of your surroundings. Honestly, as long as you use basic common sense, it’s a really safe and comfortable place to live and study.
Dislikes (Value for money): I gave value for money a 1-star rating because the overall return on investment just doesn't justify the massive tuition fee. The course is basically only 9 months long—and that's including a month-long break—which feels way too short for the amount of cash you're dropping. For international students, once you add up tuition, rent, living costs, and everything else, you're easily looking at 30 lakhs INR or more.
The uni is fine academically, but I honestly expected way better industry exposure, hands-on projects, networking, and actual company collaborations to help get a job. Most classes were just way too theoretical, and some modules felt pretty average instead of anything special. Most of us move abroad specifically for international career opportunities, so this is a massive factor. Sure, studying abroad is great for personal growth and learning to live independently, but looking at it strictly as a financial and academic investment, you really need to do your homework on the course length and placement records before risking this much money. Spending nearly 30 lakhs is a massive decision, so you have to make sure the course actually delivers on what you need for your career.

It’s good! I learned how to live a life.
Tips: All I can say is to take your time. Decide on your own. No cousin brother or friend will come to help you. It's you and your career. Take decisions wisely and be prepared for the worse. I have seen people not doing anything get jobs in the first place without having prior experience, whereas the ones who can actually make a difference. Have big numbers of years of experience sitting without a job. It's all about time and patience.
Likes (Quality of faculty): They are good. Plus, you do not expect much from the master's professionals, as they all are here for the research/Ph.D. Teaching is one of the parts. They are mostly blunt, and if you are someone who can learn things in a practical way, then it might be a bit difficult, as they will provide you everything you need, but you have to be the one taking steps, as it's level 9 education. They will provide every source to you, but you have to do it on your own.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): It is seriously impossible to land a job here right now—the market is just completely choked. I’ve been grinding away, sending out applications since October 2025, and haven't gotten a single bite. What sucks the most is I actually locked down an offer with a huge MNC right out of the gate. Then a total visa mess ruined everything. My paperwork got delayed in transit, they absolutely demanded the physical stamp that very day, and just like that, I had to pass on it.

It was a student hub and good for international access.
Tips: The atmosphere was pleasant, and the university's exception of students was good. The university's response was also good, and overall, the course was decent. The college was good, and the course structure was easy to understand. We need to do a lot of self-learning.
Likes (Safety): There is good safety, and no racism. You can find many Indians. There are many indian societies. There was no racism inside the college. But when we go outside the college, there are some teenagers that might attack, like 5% of chance to be attacked. Rather than going single in such areas, it's better to go in groups.
Dislikes (Public transportation): Public transportation is the worst here. It is very difficult to find transport in Galway and very tough to find frequent buses. It is only available in the capital cities of Dublin and Cork. Other than that, there isn't much public transport available here.

It is not very easy to land a paid internship during the course of your studies.
Tips: People need to research more on the pros and cons of studying abroad before they jump to conclusions. You need to research the weather if the conditions would suit you, the job market, part-time opportunities, the rating of the course, and suggestions from alumni or your alma mater. A basic knowledge about all these would make you take an informed decision led by facts and data, which would make you take a better decision and ease the progression into your university and jobs later on. Please take time and get to know where, why and what you're doing in the future. Do not assume things and jump to conclusions.
Likes (Indian Food): Food is not a problem at all, you have all the Indian stores and restaurants which have similar food compared to India. Eating out may be expensive. So either get your masalas and basics from India and cook at home or get them here. So there are a lot of local options aswell. So, I think it is very easy to make your own food here.
Dislikes (Internships): It is not very easy to land a paid internship during the course of your studies. You need prior experience to land a job here. Any student must consider having 2 to 3 years of experience before planning to study here. Relevant internships are even harder to find as there is a lack of opportunities for freshers and not many companies offer them.

A fun and academic university.
Tips: Honestly, you’ve really got to look at the market first and just pick a course that’s actually in demand right now. I’d also say definitely get stuck into the college clubs and all that—it’s actually worth the effort and you end up learning way more than you’d think. If you ever feel stuck or anything, just give the international office a shout. They’re honestly great and happy to help with literally whatever you need. I’m really glad I made the move, the course and the whole vibe here have been solid.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): Ireland is a peaceful country and it's safe. I have never heard of a case in Galway where discrimination has come or someone has faced that. Even house owners are cooperative and take people from different races for accommodation. And in case someone faces that, the university has a special board that looks into the matter. So I would love to settle here.
Dislikes (Internships): Internships are hard to get and you have to manually search for them. Even for the graduate programme try to get after January as working timings are not flexible and it is hard to maintain both at the same time. Students generally end up with part-time as internships are hard to get, as companies are seeking candidates who have a stamp 1G or can do full time or have flexible working time.

Definitely worth joining this college.
Tips: Be ready to miss your family and friends. However you can transform your life, meet new friends, habituate to a new culture and weather. I loved my university life and course. I didn't get any scholarship but people in other courses got scholarships. Course duration should be more than 12 months to get a scholarship.
Likes (Safety): I've never faced any issues to date in Ireland. Apart from campus security, the University of Galway provides emergency call points, good lighting, ID card access to buildings, and wellbeing support services. Galway is a friendly city and I mostly felt safe, though busy areas at night can sometimes feel uncomfortable because of a few junkies.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Limited Indian restaurants and can't expect taste like India. You can feel expensive if you are a student. But once or twice a month you can go. We can also find Indian grocery stores but a bit expensive. We can get all types of vegetables. Students can try part time jobs in these restaurants.

Tips: There was a culture shift. The way of teaching is very different from India here. It is more of practical oriented here. Though I didn’t avail the scholarship, I did the teaching assistantship at university which was a very good learning experience.
Dislikes (Internships): There is not much support from the career center for internships as that of full time job. Availability of the role and market at that time. For students I would suggest coming here with some amount of work experience. Career Cell should conduct more guidance events.

Likes (Public transportation): The campus is very well connected, in fact it is in the middle of the city. All modes of transport are available like buses and trains and their frequency is also good. Students can avail all the public transport options at half the rate that local has to pay.
Dislikes (Internships): My course didn't have an internship option while other finance courses have it. Guidance is available for those who have the option as part of their course. The students who got the internship have indeed got them in their field of study and later some of them converted them into full time opportunities.

Tips: The curricula of some courses are hectic, as most of them are 1 year programs.
I didn't get any scholarship.
My course was for 8 months since I got an exemption for 1 semester, but I felt the fee I paid for that period was a little bit on the higher side. The country has both pros and cons, the pros being that most people are welcoming and friendly, the con being cost of living is too high.
Likes (Public transportation): The city has all modes of transport like buses and trains and the frequency of them is also good. Almost every bus in the city is connected to the university.
Students can avail the benefit of Student Leap cards which would provide them the transport at half the rate that local people pay.
Dislikes (Internships): My course does not have any internship option but some other courses such as finance, have that option and the university has the internship support and a few of the students got their internship through that support and a few of those internships also turned into permanent employment.

Ireland is good now but wouldn’t be in the future. It’s a country smaller than Madhya Pradesh.
Tips: It’s not Dublin, so better to go to Dublin universities if coming to Ireland and also try going to the USA or other countries, as Ireland will be crowded soon. There was a cultural shift and many people hate the climate and transport. People are extremely nice and friendly. I missed out on scholarships but people usually get them when they apply in advance. I am somewhat satisfied but my goal has not been achieved yet.
Likes (Safety): It’s pretty safe but some people have had some bad incidents, depending on the place and area you live in. I think campus safety is the only security provided to the students and the local police are good but they don’t have all the resources to protect the students outside the campus premises. I had mostly good experiences but there were some threats given to me during my stay in Ireland so far.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Ireland is a small country and it’s being flooded, counsellors and agents are promoting Ireland like an alternative to the USA but it isn’t and it isn’t a Schengen country as well. I’ll suggest going to the Netherlands for a safer alternative or Germany. I’d love to permanently immigrate to this country but it’s looking hard to do so at this point.

Tips: The personal growth that the students would experience after joining the college is huge. Learning to do things on your own and handling your own finance and everything basically makes you grow a lot. This is more personal than academic. Academically as well, it is more of a self-learning than the teachers teaching you. There is a lot to learn by ourselves, do personal projects which are all going to determined whether you're going to find a job or not. I would advice that every student do thorough research before joining any university. Go through the syllabus and make sure that the contents are what you can learn with some effort. Also prepare in advance and learn the basics of what you are going to be learning at the university. Connect with your alumni and ask them for advice on how to navigate the course how to do projects and what they have done to achieve success.
Likes (Public transportation): There is free transportation within the campus for students. Other than that, there is bus service almost everywhere within the city and students have a special concession for their transport. There is a NFT card that you can top-up and tap in the bus which allows you to travel.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): There is currently a huge competition, especially in the field of IT. If a student has prior experience, it would be easier to find a job that offers a visa. For graduates, the expected average salary would be around 35k EUR annually and it goes higher depending on the experience.

Likes (Post study jobs): I landed a research Data Scientist role after my Masters and many friends did well too, so its very possible to bag a nice paying job with Visa sponsorship. The number of companies sponsor visas changes, but there are plenty, especially among those with solid graduate intake. Typical roles range from graduate programs to mid and senior positions, and salaries are competitive and grow with the strength of your portfolio, communication and technical depth. If you put in consistent, focused effort, you can absolutely grab a great opportunity. Jobs in different sectors have different pay scales, but graduate roles usually play around 40k per annum, mid level play around 50-70k depending on the sector and experience, and senior level can go above 70k on average.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Adjusting to food anywhere else is always a challenge, and Galway has relatively less choices for authentic North Indian cuisine. Restaurants like Kumar's, Kashmir and Eastern Tandoori provide some variety, but they can't match the flavour like that of home. I usually prefer cooking at home, buying groceries and masalas from asian stores, though they are quite expensive.
