Practical pharma degree with London exposure
Tips: Before joining the University of Greenwich for an M.Sc. in Pharmaceutical Science, know that London is expensive. Tuition is around 18,700 pounds, and living costs add up fast. Also, long-term visa sponsorship is competitive, so use the 2-year Graduate Route wisely. The transition was culturally smooth because London is so diverse. The biggest shift was independent learning and budgeting on my own. I availed myself of the International Scholarship Award. It gave a up to 3,000-pound tuition discount after I accepted my offer, with no monthly allowance. Overall I'm satisfied. University and course: 4/5 for labs and industry link. Country: 4/5 for opportunities, but high cost and visa rules are the main challenges.
Likes (Indian Food): I rated food options from my country of origin a 5 because London makes it really easy to find familiar food. Around Greenwich and nearby areas you get lots of Indian, Bangladeshi, Pakistani, Turkish, African, and Caribbean restaurants. A curry or biryani is about 12 to 18 pounds, shawarma and kebabs are 8 to 12 pounds, and African/Caribbean plates are 10 to 16 pounds. There are also Asian grocery stores for spices and basics. I prefer cooking at home most days because it's cheaper and tastes like home but I do eat out 2 to 3 times a week when I'm busy. Eating out is convenient; cooking saves money.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): I gave it a 1 because the job situation after graduation is much tougher than expected, especially for international students. The positive side is that you get the UK Graduate Route visa for 2 years after your M.Sc. That means you don't need a sponsor right away. You can work in labs, QA, research assistant roles, or even outside pharma just to build experience and income. The challenge comes after those 2 years. To stay longer, you need a skilled worker visa, and that requires a job offer of at least 38,700 pounds per year from a licensed sponsor. Most entry-level pharmaceutical roles in the UK start between 28,000 and 33,000 pounds, so they don't qualify. Also, many companies simply list no visa sponsorship. Companies that do sponsor are mostly the big ones: GSK, AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Sanofi, NHS, IQVIA, and Labcorp. Beyond that, sponsorship is mostly for shortage roles or experienced hires. Typical roles for M.Sc. grades are quality assurance, analytical scientist, regulatory affairs, R&D, formulation, and clinical trials support. Salaries usually start around 28k-33k in London, then rise to 35k-45k with 2-3 years of experience. Greenwich data shows graduates earn about 27k after 15 months and 29k after 3 years. So the course and London location are great, but if your goal is long-term sponsored work, start targeting shortage-list pharma roles early.

A great learning experience at the university of Greenwich
Tips: The University of Greenwich is very diverse, and you all will meet students from all over the world. The transition was smooth overall; at first I had to adjust to the teaching style, but since London is very multicultural, I felt welcome and adapted quickly. I did receive a scholarship of 3000 pounds, and I am very satisfied with my experience. Living in the UK, especially in London, gave me international exposure, helped me grow personally and professionally, and allowed me to meet people from different cultures.
Likes (Internships): I gave internships a top score because studying at Greenwich puts you at a huge advantage when it comes to landing industry experience. My placements were directly tied to my course material, so instead of just doing busywork, I was actually applying what we learned in lectures to real projects alongside working professionals. The university’s Employability Hub was a massive help with polishing CVs and setting up interviews, but the real benefit is simply the location—being right next to Canary Wharf and central London opens up endless placement and internship opportunities across tech, finance, and creative industries. The connections I built during my internship didn't just boost my practical skills; they gave me a solid professional network in London before I even graduated.
Dislikes (Safety): I gave safety a lower rating not because Greenwich feels constantly dangerous, but because phone snatching and opportunistic theft around here are genuinely out of hand. Right outside campus around Cutty Sark, the DLR station, and Greenwich Market, phone snatchers on e-bikes and mopeds are constantly looking for students texting while walking. It’s super common to see someone get their phone ripped right out of their hand in broad daylight if they're not paying attention.
While the campus grounds themselves feel reasonably secure with campus security around, walking back to student accommodation or taking the bus late at night means you have to keep your head on a swivel. Greenwich is a great area overall, but between phone thieves, pickpockets in crowded tourist spots, and the general roughness of certain spots in South East London after dark, you really can't let your guard down.

University of Greenwich- ideal place to have fun while studying only if you’ll do your research
Tips: The rank of the uni according to the course that you’ve applied for. And you can do research by connecting with alumni’s on LinkedIn. There was no cultural shift, as in London as well. I used to experience Indian culture. No scholarship for me. The course was pretty good; I don’t know how it is now considering the whole world relies upon ai, so if the course has some subjects related to ai, then the uni is definitely recommended
Likes (Public transportation): Public transportation was very good; buses and trains were easily available across the city. Buses, as well as trains, were well connected with the campus. Everything is affordable over there if you’re earning in pounds (GBP). If you’re not, then it won’t look affordable to you.
Dislikes (Internships): The internships that were being offered by the university in job fairs were from companies in the hospitality industry. For example, if there were 10 companies in the job fair, out of those 10, 8 were of hospitality. Which completely makes no sense. Since you are doing an MBA or MA, you should be offered a job or internship in an office job, like a non-hospitality company. But the uni itself were offering us to work with hospitality companies

Great university, rooted to its heritage and values.
Tips: They should be aware of the course they are selecting, because they have two campuses, one in Greenwich, London, and the other in Maritime Kent. And most probably science-based courses are in Kent, also they have a campus in Avery Hill. Nevertheless, they have a good facility of an inter-campus bus where you just need to book tickets online from their portal and you are good to go.
Likes (Public transportation): Generally good public transport, but hard to reach in the sticks, which can last for days. It can be hard to travel, but there's an alternative option of bus, but generally it takes much more time to reach the university, depending on where you stay. If you stay near the University, you can just walk there.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Hard to settle and get a job after studies and the visa process is hard compared to other countries but friendly people. I never faced any racism. Moreover if students come with a mindset to just settle, it's a good place. London, being one of the major cities in the world is obviously a fast-moving city but they'll learn plenty of things.

Tips: Gradually, there was a transition from cultural to academic. In the beginning, it might challenge you, but taking it positively and not personally made me stronger and helped me understand the foreign culture. It also helped me to make some good friends and colleagues.

Likes (Student Life): I used to spend time attending lectures, seminars and workshops in my college days. What I liked most was following my hobby along with this. A lot of events are organised throughout the academic year, such as cultural festivals, parties, meetups, and more. Mainly, I used to indulge in sports activities, such as football.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Considering the strict UK Immigration policies for graduating students, in my opinion, I found it to be challenging for students. The supply and demand of graduates has been inflating the job market after COVID-19, which makes it less ideal for settling in the UK as a student.

The career support team is helpful.
Tips: You have to find your own placement. The career support team will be a good guide in the journey, but the responsibility is upon you to find a part-time job or a full-time job. For my course there was no scholarship, and overall my experience with the university was satisfactory.
Likes (Student Life): The student life is amazing and full of activivites wheather it is about your course needs or afteruniversity activvities at the university. The uni has a inhouse pub, best for hangout. There are also a lot of clubs to choose from, also youcan cretae your own club and participate in various events happening all year round at RivFitz.
Dislikes (Safety): A lot of burglaries are reported in the area where I live. Petty crimes like burglaries of phones and wallets are very common, and being an international student, it becomes very difficult if your phone or wallet gets stolen. Another reason is that drugs like weed are very easily available, which makes the international students a bit more exposed to drug abuse for some.

Liberal, peaceful and average university.
Tips: I think I have not transitioned in any way after coming to the UK, nor is there any cultural shift. I've lived with Indians all the time, and in all aspects, I didn't feel any change from living in India. At the university, there's no drastic cultural difference because there are more international students, and everyone is coexisting. I didn't get any scholarships for my studies. I spent my days in college either in labs or libraries. I enjoyed the stress-free and peaceful campus the most. The student centre is very active and always helpful. There were many seminars, job orientation, and personal development classes arranged by the university, and we were able to register and participate online. I joined both the online and offline classes.
Dislikes (Value for money): Tuition for my program at the University of Greenwich was worth it compared to tuition at other schools with a similar ranking. I think the Greenwich course had better value, yet the cost was nearly the same. Plus, the course is in demand right now, so it was worth every penny.

Tips: Do not take your studies casually. You do not have to study everyday, pay attention two or three days. Understand everything that has been taught in class. Prepare well for exams again do not waste time be active all the time.
Likes (Part time work): It is all up to you how hard you try to get a part-time job, though it is not easy but if you really give your best you can get one within a month. Go directly to the shops and print your resume. Keep yourself active all the time do not waste your time.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): As everyone wants to do full-time job here it is not as easy as it seems. Nowadays it is quite a difficult task to establish yourself here. Think twice before coming here, do not take things casually, stay updated all the time. Tips: They should be very serious about time, they should not waste any time before getting into it. Attend every class, it is worth it for your future endeavour. University also has a gym on campus with very reasonable fees for students. You need to register for groups you need to join.
Likes (Value for money): Teaching and support is worth the fees. Lots of support groups for studies and co-curriculum activities. If you have any interest like dancing, interest in sports like football, cricket, badminton, table tennis and tennis then it is worth being here. They also have an arts group.
Dislikes (Indian Food): It's rare to get Indian food near Greenwich campus. We have to get used to British food or Turkish food. You should learn to cook to save money by eating food from outside. Greenwich is one of the very expensive areas in London and it's hard to get settled financially here.

Likes (Indian Food): The best part of studying in London is its rich diversity of food options, from Indian to continental and other food options. Most of the Indian dishes and food items are available in every second store. So, that was definitely one of the reasons to choose London as a place to study.
Dislikes (Internships): The University of Greenwich is located in the heart of London and it prepares its students for the outside world via its extremely well-put curriculum and academia. There are plenty of internship opportunities in the city of London for which a student can apply while studying a programme.

The University is excellent and studies is far better as compared to other Universities
Tips: If you stay near the campus then it is very good because then you can make friends, you can easily access the library (the library of Greenwich is excellent) and the area is also good. If you are enrolling into this course, then please focus on studies and come with basic IT knowledge because this is a Masters course, and professors do not teach basics. Professors are very friendly. If you have any doubt then they will surely help you to sort them out. London city is also very good. Come prepared with expenses. Here, everything is expensive. In London, you can get students' discount almost everywhere. Just search before you go and then purchase. For travelling, you can get Oyster card on discount. You can get discounts on electronics, clothing, footwear, etc.
Likes (Public transportation): Public transport is very dependable here in London. Lots of people use public transport because it has quick service and options. Here, lots of underground lines and bus services are available from morning 5 a.m. to 1 a.m. In my opinion, public transport services are very good.
Dislikes (Value for money): I have rated this low because if you do other courses that offer guaranteed jobs then I think those courses are better as compared to this course. At least you will know that your job is secured. Also, once you enter in the Cyber Security industry, you can change the job after some experience and you can also get some professional experience.

Tips: It is a great college. Apart from academic activities, do take part in all the extracurricular activities. They are quite great and will give a lot of exposure and further opportunities. Especially, do take interest in the university's enterprise bootcamp and hackathons.
Likes (Value for money): Since I am staying at my relatives' house, the value for money is high for me. The overall cost is considerably cheaper for me.

Tips: Honestly, just don't be afraid to throw yourself into stuff that feels a bit random or totally outside your usual bubble. Like, for me, the team projects were actually the biggest deal—not even for the grades, but just to find your own crowd and actually feel like you belong. Definitely try and get into those competitions too, mostly just to see where you’re at and get some real, blunt feedback from people who actually know what they’re talking about. And seriously, don’t ignore the networking side of things. Just chat with people whenever you can, because honestly, so many jobs or cool opportunities just pop up from some random conversation you weren't even expecting to have.
Likes (Indian Food): I went with a 4 because honestly, London is just stacked with Indian food, whether you’re looking for a cheap canteen vibe or something a lot fancier. It’s actually pretty easy to find a spot that hits the right taste without breaking the bank. You’ve got these canteen-style places where you can grab a solid meal for like £8 or £12, but then you also have nicer casual spots where mains are usually closer to £15 or £20. If you really want to go all out, the fine-dining places can easily set you back £50 or more. To be honest, I usually just stick to cooking at home during the week to save some cash, but I live for the weekends when I can finally get out and hunt for some random regional dish or a new style of Indian cooking I haven't tried yet.
Dislikes (Value for money): I only gave it a 2 for value for money because the fees are honestly way too high for what you actually get. You aren't getting nearly enough time with the teachers or enough hands-on experience to make that price tag feel worth it. While the degree itself is fine, the whole learning side of things and the lack of resources just don't add up for the amount we're paying. To actually make it worth the money, they really need to give us a busier schedule, way better career help, and just better facilities overall.

“Strong Digital Marketing Course with Great Career Exposure in London”
Tips: If you're looking at Greenwich, just a heads up that you really have to get used to doing your own thing—the UK system is big on independent study, so you’ve got to be on it with your time management. Coming from abroad, it’s definitely a bit of a shift, but the vibe here is super welcoming and inclusive, so it’s actually not that hard to find your feet. I didn't actually get a scholarship myself, but they do point you toward a few merit-based or international ones when you're applying. Honestly, I’m really happy with the uni and my Digital Marketing course. Being in the UK has given me a massive confidence boost and the career side of things looks pretty solid. It’s definitely worth it for the exposure you get.
Likes (Internships): I gave internships a 5 because the uni really goes all out with their resources. The careers team is constantly sharing new openings and they run workshops for your CV and LinkedIn, which were a huge help. They even do mock interviews to get you ready. Most of the roles you see are in digital marketing—everything from social media and SEO to content and data analytics. Since the campus is right in London, you’re basically in the middle of all these big companies and startups. It makes it so much easier to find an internship that actually gives you real-world experience in your field.
Dislikes (Student Life): I went with a 4 for student life because it’s honestly been a great experience, but you definitely get out what you put in. My typical day is a bit of a juggle—usually bouncing between lectures, the library to grind through assignments, and then catching up with friends on campus. My favorite part is easily the campus itself; the historic buildings and all that open space make it a really nice spot to just de-stress.
There’s always something happening, like cultural festivals or career workshops. I try to hit the networking and employability events whenever I can, though I’ll be real—the workload sometimes makes it hard to show up to everything. There are also a ton of clubs, from business societies to international groups, which are great for meeting people who are actually into the same stuff as you. It’s a very inclusive vibe, and if you take the initiative to get involved, you’ll have a solid time here.

Tips: It has been a great experience. The university offers a scholarship of 3,500 to all international students. I am 100% satisfied with the university and the course I have selected; it has a great course structure.
Likes (Value for money): The tuition fees are very low, and this university is affordable compared to others. It is also well-reputed. The tuition fee is justified for my course due to the quality of education and the maximum support they provide.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): They have made the process much more difficult now, making permanent relocation or immigration very challenging. The chances of permanent settlement are around 40%, which makes me consider staying here for longer than a year. I would love to live here permanently.

Great university, friendly faculty but it can depend on your course.
Tips: The University of Greenwich is good for management courses. The environment is good, and you might be able to get a scholarship. However, you need to be regular in attendance and stay connected to the university. It can be a bit stressful, and if you have the opportunity to study elsewhere, you might want to take it, as life in the UK can be stressful.
Likes (Safety): The university provides additional safety services, such as campus escorts during late hours and 24/7 emergency assistance. Security cameras are all across the campus, making students living and studying there feel safe and comfortable.
Dislikes (Quality of faculty): The faculty is cooperative, which is good. However, as a science student, I needed practical experience rather than just reading the slides. You have to be very active, as that is how you can pass. Give your assignments on time. Be confident in your presentation. Be prepared for your written exams and dissertation.

Tips: Huge cultural shift. Students/ professors/ staff are very professional, and the same is expected of you. The way of teaching is very different, one must study and be prepared for the lecture, as they are interactive. I did receive a scholarship based on merit. Very happy with my experience, will recommend 10/10.
Likes (Internships): There is a wide variety of opportunities available when it comes to internships and good mentors, depending on how much work we put into them. There are a lot of organizations that offer internships in different sectors, but getting one may involve a lot of networking and hard work. We will give you an edge by using your career advisor.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): There are however, various means by which one may go about becoming a permanent resident in the UK. It is a very hard thing to be sponsored by an employer and stay permanently in the UK. Most employers do not have any problems at all employing graduates using the PSW visa method, and thus this is a good opportunity for you to demonstrate your skills and experience.

One of the biggest positives is how international and diverse the university is, so you meet people from a huge number of backgrounds. Overall, I am very satisfied. The workload of my course is very intense, but it provides a very strong technical foundation for your career.
Likes (Student Life): Student life at UCL is one of the best parts of studying here because there is always something happening alongside academics. My normal day involves lectures, studying around campus, and spending time with friends, as well as getting involved in societies and other activities, with regular social events. As Punjab Society president, I will say this was definitely very enjoyable for anyone coming from India.
Dislikes (Part time work): There are part-time job opportunities on and off campus, but those on campus can be highly competitive. At UCL, students can have part-time opportunities as ambassadors, administration, and events staff. In addition to that, as the university is located in Central London, there can be part-time job opportunities in the retail and hospitality industry. The secret is to keep the hours down.

UCL East review - what nobody tells you
Tips: The Indian community is not that good. There are a lot of British Indians in all these communities, they do not like traditional Indians that much. There is friction and a whole lot of bias in these societies.
Apart from that scholarships are really hard to get, exams are really chill, friendships depend on your courses and campuses.
I would say, if you can then please apply for the Bloomsbury campus as that would really provide you with the campus experience and a fun college life. Any other campus not so much.
Likes (Public transportation): All 3 UCL campuses have insane tube connectivity. I would say London in general is very safe on the tubes, budget friendly and time efficient. All campuses are only away by max 40 mins and it is a comfortable journey. The tube will be your best friend so get an oyster card to get more discounts on your travel.
Dislikes (Value for money): I feel the tuition fee is over priced for the resources that I am getting, especially for an art course. The thinking is amazing, the faculty is great, the course is brilliant! But not anything I couldn’t learn from YouTube. Not worth paying 44,000 pounds a year on only tuition fee. Also the course is at the east campus and not Bloomsbury, so it feels a bit secluded.

Tips: I love the multicultural and open-minded thoughts that the whole campus shares regarding everything, and all academics will help you in the best possible ways for your ideas. Very satisfied with the course and university and would recommend this as a path to anyone who wants to experience abroad education.
Likes (Part time work): A lot of opportunities within the university, which are posted on university's website accessible to all students, as well as numerous opportunities in the local market Unless you are interested in regular long-term hardware competitions for which you have to spend countless nights soldering and debugging code. Part-time work is manageable. The avg payout is about £10.50 per hour for both uni and local market jobs.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Not likely in the current political scenario where permanent residency is being lengthened with a 10-year baseline wait. Also, employers here now tend to hire only if you are a citizen or PR holder. Though, if successful in getting a job post-graduation, then PR is obtained in 5 years.

An experience of a lifetime if you're willing to take charge
Tips: If you don't have a scholarship, I would recommend working part-time. It's pretty doable and also a good break from studies. - London is great in terms of public transport. Try to have a basic understanding before going (Oyster card, bus, underground, train, etc.). Otherwise, it may get a bit overwhelming. I would recommend the TFL app.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Faculty gets a high rating because UCL professors are top-tier researchers who are surprisingly accessible during office hours. The level of teaching and depth you get in lectures is incredible. Just keep in mind that UCL relies heavily on self-directed study. Professors expect you to take ownership—they give you the framework and primary literature in class, but going beyond the reading list and digging deeper is entirely up to you.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Permanent immigration gets a low rating because staying in the UK long-term after UCL is a complete minefield. Sure, you get the 2-year Graduate Route visa to work post-graduation, but transitioning from that to a Skilled Worker visa is ridiculously tough. UK salary thresholds keep rising, and a lot of companies flat-out refuse to sponsor international candidates because of the administrative costs. I'd love to settle here if the right sponsored role came along, but as an international student, the immigration policy makes it a constant uphill struggle.

Navigating Academics, Funding, and Life as an International Student at UCL
Tips: Students should know more about the coursework, as well as the academic hierarchy It's explicitly written on the website; having good knowledge will actually help you in setting faster (with respect to courses and academics). Personally, there was no cultural shock, as London was pretty much different nationalities, including Indians in huge numbers. I got a departmental scholarship, which is academically promising. Likes (Student Life): Student life is really good in this university, since I am on the clinical side; we are mostly within the hospital grounds, despite that, student volunteers organize variety of programmes every week, specific meetups and leisure parties A lot of events are organized throughout the academic year; that even includes taking students on field trips, and I am specifically part of the football club, Indian dance society, and reading club.
Dislikes (Part time work): Part-time jobs are quite hard to find, especially given the city situation. As it's London, there's massive crowd pull, and likewise opportunities are very competitive Ideally, part-time jobs are manageable when you have your coursework; once after your thesis it becomes little tricky The average payout here in London is 14 pounds per hour.

A great adventure to explore
Tips: The university and country are good, but they have asked for help because, unlike in India, the help is readily available. People are expected to be more independent. In the university the classes are not spoon-feeding like in India. You have to prepare for the classes in order to understand and participate in the classes.
Likes (Indian Food): I gave the local dining scene top marks because King’s Cross and Bloomsbury are stacked with options. You’re definitely not stuck with basic takeout—just a short walk from UCL, there’s Thai street food, Greek gyros, Lebanese wraps, Turkish kebabs, and proper Indian dishes everywhere.
When you need something fast between classes, Canopy Market and King’s Cross station are ideal. Pulling off a filling meal for £10 to £15 in Central London is surprisingly doable. From grab-and-go shawarmas to sit-down treats at Dishoom or a simple biryani, you'll never run out of good spots.
Dislikes (Part time work): Since I was pursuing an LL.M., there were not a lot of part-time work options available for me in the university, nor did I do any part-time jobs. So, I have no information about it. But the internship opportunities at law firms and international firms and organizations were great and always given to us.

Tips: I am a recipient of the India Excellence Scholarship and I would highly recommend that students apply for scholarships and there are certain trips that they should know before coming here. Connection with the career coaches is very important from the start.
Likes (Indian Food): Back in my home country, I heard that there are very less options for vegetarian or vegan people, but that is not the case, even if each restaurant has just one or two vegetarian options, they are always present plus, it is in very much proximity to the campus, so in brakes, you can go and get yourself a bowl or something to eat.
Dislikes (Value for money): If you can apply for a scholarship, it would be better because even if back in India, you feel it's a small amount that you have received a scholarship, or there are different types of scholarships. Here which you can apply for. For example, the director scholarship which gives you a large amount off.

Tips: My transition has been similar to almost every other international student here which makes one feel more reassured. My first semester here was quite overwhelming but things fell in place soon after. There is plenty of opportunity if you put yourself out there. Tips: Just be open to making memories, don't stress a lot about employment, and keep putting in regular efforts.
Enjoy time at UCL because usually classes are only 3-4 days a week, go out with your friends. UCL has a lot of good and student friendly bars, and a lot of food joints as well.
No cultural difference, UCL is very acceptable, and students from all over the world come to UCL.
Likes (Student Life): UCL is amazing in terms of staff faculty and crowd. It is located in the heart of London which is the main campus. They have various societies and different events happening almost every day. I was a part of the UCL pro bono project and it was really nice. I participated in 2 to 3 dance events as well and everything was beyond good. UCL is good in terms of getting the right exposure a good crowd and making memorable memories.
Dislikes (Internships): The university provides guidance and support to students however current UK market is challenging. Internships are available applications need to be submitted 5-6 months before and the process requires rigorous and continuous effort. Universities provide websites but an independent application is more important.

Tips: I have transitioned. Scholarships are less so you need to work hard. Likes (Internships): Whilst I was in college I used to visit libraries, student cafes, we were in Bloomsbury which was the heart of London, so everything was within walking distance. I was the Vice President of the International Public Affairs Society. UCL has 1000s of societies.
Dislikes (Safety): The department is very accessible and accommodating. The word I'd like to use is student friendly. UCL teaching doesn't just give you facts, it makes you learn how to think critically. The teaching faculty is very diverse. It's a global university. There are people from all nationalities.

Tips: Coming to UCL has been a transformative experience both academically and personally. The transition helped me grow significantly as an individual. Dislikes (Part time work): Although there are good opportunities both on and off campus, balancing them with the intensity of a one-year masters course is a bit challenging. UCL provides plenty of on-campus roles, especially for Bachelor's students, such as student ambassador positions and paid roles within the UCL Students' Union. UCL's career website is also very helpful, through which students can apply for part-time jobs and paid internships. Off-campus jobs are usually in retail, hospitality, customer service, and administrative work. Part-time work becomes more manageable during vacation when there is more time to catch up on studies. The average payout for part-time work in London typically ranges from 12-15 pounds per hour, and on-campus roles often pay slightly higher, around 14-17 pounds per hour.

Tips: The transition has been challenging. The workload I have is a lot here but then it's a part of the process. It's a prestigious university and hence it's academically rigorous. The best part is that all I have to do is ask for help whenever I'm struggling and there will be people around me who can guide me and help me with anything. Likes (Quality of faculty): I love the campus and the facilities that are provided. There are many amount of clubs and activities being conducted although I don't get to attend them frequently as I am busy. There are clubs for dance, music, debate, educational, academic, research, cultural linguistic societies and many more. I mostly spend my day attending lectures and catching up on them by studying in the library on campus. I also get to spend time with some of my amazing friends I met here.
Dislikes (Student Life): The faculty is really approachable, especially for my field. The kind of research exposure I'm getting here is phenomenal! The lectures involve the professor talking about their lab's research and its findings. The faculty is very diverse and friendly. They're really approachable for any sort of doubts or queries.

Tips: It is an amazing college to do an undergraduate degree at. It is friendly and welcoming. The academics are very strong. Student life is beaming thanks to the many student societies, frequent student events and joyful environment on campus. Here, you study hard and party harder.
Likes (Indian Food): There are an innumerable number of Indian restaurants in London, and food from any part of India you want. I was very pleasantly surprised by the taste too. On average, a good meal will cost you about 15-20 pounds pp. I prefer cooking at home than going outside.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): It is a little difficult to obtain a work visa here after the visa requirements have changed. The volatile institutional environment around it discourages employers from hiring Indians, as it would require their support. There is still racism in the wider community.

There are many opportunities to engage and explore.
Tips: Students should know that transitioning into UCL especially the School of Management largely depends on their prior academic environment. For me it was a significant shift because the focus here is much more practical group work, interaction, teamwork and real-world application rather than only lectures or written assignments. From day one classes are highly engaging and you’re encouraged to participate instead of just listening passively. In terms of culture, London is a friendly yet professional place. People here balance warmth and formality very well whether it’s classmates, professors, or even the management team, communication feels open and respectful. Anyone coming from a different cultural or academic background might notice the shift, but it’s easy to adapt. Regarding scholarships, UCL offers limited options directly through the university. Once you receive your offer, they email you the scholarship details. I applied but did not receive one. Still, the process is straightforward. I’m extremely satisfied with my course and the university overall. The only minor drawback is that UCL has three campuses, and most events and societies are centered around Bloomsbury. Since SOM is in Canary Wharf, travel can feel expensive and sometimes makes us feel slightly distant from the main campus vibe. However, the SOM campus itself is stunning being on one of the top floors with panoramic views of London, sunsets, the skyline, Tower Bridge, and the London Eye is something truly special. The course content is well balanced and prepares you for the actual management world. As for the country, the UK, especially London, is welcoming, diverse, and full of opportunities. Living here genuinely feels like fulfilling a dream and gives a strong main character energy.
Likes (Student Life): Even with a busy academic schedule, there are many opportunities to engage and explore. As a management student I have compulsory 3 hour lectures every day and at least once a week I attend seminars or workshops that are optional but very enriching. UCL has three campuses- UCL School of Management where all management lectures happen, Bloomsbury and UCL East. Most social events take place at Bloomsbury. Our SOM campus mainly hosts academic sessions. Student clubs and communities aren’t campus-specific; they are open to all UCL students. There are clubs for arts, sports, music, reading, dance, hiking, cooking, cultural and religious groups, pride communities, and even niche ones like the Cat Club. The vibrancy of the UCL student community and the wide range of opportunities make student life active and enjoyable.
Dislikes (Indian Food): I prefer cooking for myself than eating out. it is affordable and allows me to choose exactly what I want. In Canary Wharf there are a few good Indian restaurants such as Dishoom Kricket IndiGo Rasoi Manjal and Mala by the riverside.

If you are looking forward to joining UCL for your studies, look for the scholarships, as it becomes value for money when you can get a scholarship. Nonetheless, the experience is marvellous at UCL. It carries an attack on my reputation for the money that I have put in. I'm completely satisfied with the outcome.
Likes (Student Life): The student life at UCL is fantastic. It's amazing. It's the best you can get their students from all over the world. There is a lot of cultural diversity. You get to interact with people having an experience of every sort. There are numerous clubs and societies. There is an Indian society as well for the Indian students. Frequent events are on the campus.
Dislikes (Value for money): The fee for the university is quite high. It's on the higher side with a range up to 40 lacs per year. Although I got this scholarship which covers 60% of my tuition fee, it became value for money for me, but if you do not get a scholarship, then it's not value for money.

Tips: I guess I have become more responsible, capable of handling my own finances and life. It’s overwhelming in the beginning, but once you find your ground and you start to make friends, it gets easier with time. Of course, there is a cultural and a mindset shift. The UK is more liberal, you can become your own person and craft your story in your own way.
Likes (Student Life): UCL has a lot to offer if you are ready and proactive to take on the opportunities. There are pro bono projects that you can be part of, social groups and creative societies such as Fashion society, International Politics, Dance, Cycling, Tennis, and travelling. Events vary across meet and greet sessions, career fairs, CV building workshops and some fun pop cultural events as well. I tried to participate in as many extra-curricular projects as I could, whilst balancing studies for my Master's. I stayed in uni halls as they are a great place to meet international people and make friends.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): It’s competitive to get a skilled worker job but once you do get it, it gets slightly easier to eventually get a permanent status. I am not sure if I would like to stay in the UK permanently but for the next few years, I definitely do see myself working here. It's been almost 4 years and London feels home now. I like my career transition path but I might or might not eventually move back to Delhi.

Tips: Know what you want to do. Start applying early on. Get your application right. It’s not that easy to get admission here. Once you come here you’ll be overwhelmed by the sheer vastness of the city and the uni, but do not let it intimidate you. Strive to do your best and aim to work here after graduation, so that it’s all worth it.
Likes (Student Life): From classes to pubs to society activities, it’s all great. You get to explore central London, which has a rustic yet modern feel to it. The east campus is in Canary Wharf, the business district, so that you get the corporate feel. The faculty is one of the best in the world, ranking is good, academically oriented and produces future assets, i.e., the graduates.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Chances are low because of the new and stricter immigration rules. Since the new rules introduced in July 2025 made it more difficult for companies to sponsor visas for jobs, it’s gonna be very hard to secure a permanent role after graduation. But you still have to try.

An adventurous year in London and UCL.
Tips: UCL is a highly competitive university, and one has to work twice as hard to score well in comparison to an Indian university. Also, there are 3 terms in a year - this means that classes will be held in the first 2 terms, and the last term is for exams/final assessment and research essay. UCL is also strict about the usage of AI or ChatGPT for assignments.
Likes (Quality of faculty): UCL is one of the oldest institutions in the UK, so all the professors are highly educated and accomplished in their fields. In the law faculty, I have seen the Law Commission as a professor; the lawyer of the Queen is also a professor. So, you don't have to worry about the quality of education here as it will be world-class, and the employers recognise this institute and give preference to the UCL students.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): I don't know much about the permanent settlement or immigration information in the UK, as I am a current student at UCL and I don't wish to apply for the same, but I hope that whoever wishes to apply for it does not get disappointed about the same. But the facilities here are easy to use, and people are quite friendly, so you can get more information after reaching London.
