Good uni but no uni life.
Tips: The university has a good ranking but lacks a lot of facilities. Very few interaction activities. Facilities are decent enough, but I would say there are no activities where you could connect with other students across campus. Also, I personally felt 1 year is way too little to complete your M.Sc. You don't get to explore very much.
Likes (Indian Food): The food options are plentiful enough, and in the supermarket too you get almost everything and of the best quality. The city is easy to travel in, as it is not a very big city and mostly students are in the city. You get a good crowd nearby, and almost all the brands are also available. All areas have a supermarket nearby where you can shop for everything easily.
Dislikes (Internships): No internships are available over there, nor any support from the university. There is a student support department, but they could just show you the openings, which are very difficult to get. Post-study, also, the job market has crashed very badly. It's very difficult to find part-time work as well.

A chapter which transformed me into who I am today
Tips: If you're heading to Leeds, you need to show up ready to hit the ground running from day one. You can't just coast through this—you genuinely have to be proactive, get yourself to every single lecture, and take the seminars and mock exams completely seriously if you want to stay afloat. The workload demands that you build a solid daily reading habit early on, otherwise, the massive amount of material will pile up and bury you before you even realize it. Look, it's a massive grind. But if you actually put the work in, it pays off big time and leaves you completely set up for whatever you want to do next.

An honest review of my year at University of Leeds
Tips: Look, the University of Leeds is a solid institution, and there are plenty of chances to push yourself out of your comfort zone and really test your limits. But you need to hear this upfront: it is entirely on you to actually go out and hunt those opportunities down, because nobody is going to spoon-feed them to you. Those extra initiatives are the exact experiences that actually make your time here worthwhile. Aside from that, everything else—like the lectures, the campus facilities, and the daily coursework—is pretty standard uni stuff. My one big letdown was the crowd; I came here expecting my peers to really challenge me and push me intellectually, but that just didn't happen. Honestly, it was a bit disappointing on that front, so just be prepared to find your own drive.

I recommend university of leeds
Tips: 1. Do not expect anything such as part-time jobs or full-time jobs to be handed over to you 2. Yes, I had a 6K GBP scholarship. 3. University, yes—but nothing prepared me for England's cold weather, especially in Dec.-Feb. I wish I had picked a warmer place with some sun. Having said that, the weather is relatively better in summer.
Likes (Indian Food): Leeds is a beautiful city and has multiple options for Indian cuisine. I do cook for myself. It's still a struggle if you have to eat outside often; every student must learn how to do simple cooking, or they might burn their finger. So finish some cooking sessions with your family before arriving.
Dislikes (Part time work): This is a huge campus; many of the published jobs get closed immediately, and many of us didn't succeed in getting a job. While a few of the students have gotten part-time jobs within uni, this is a gamble. One needs to be realistic about the market scenario.

Uni of Leeds - A multicultural journey
Tips: It was an important experience for me. I did get a 5,000-pound scholarship. I learned how different cultures are, and Leeds is a very student-friendly place. I made lovely friends and MET lovely faculty. You get good opportunities. I represented my business school in Milan.
Likes (Public transportation): Easy travel, convenient. Uber is expensive, but you might get used to it in a few months. The bus is affordable and very convenient You can also walk, as nothing in Leeds is too far. If you like to cycle, there are cycling tracks throughout as well, so it's not an issue.
Dislikes (Internships): There was good guidance provided on securing internships and jobs. There is a career service that provides CV checks too and helps you get to your goal. We also have internships on campus that pay you; some are related to your course, and some are generic student ambassador part-time job opportunities.

to pursue dream its great
Tips: I have chosen this uni because of its reputation for the supply chain management course. If your motive is to study and complete your degree with a good score, then it's best to pursue it. But it will be hard if your motive is to do part-time and rarely focus on studies; then it will be hard to pass the course, as it requires proper dedication and time to do all the assignments while constantly focusing on applying for full-time jobs. Only then will you be able to understand the job market and mentally get adapted to the interviews while increasing the confidence time by time.
Likes (Quality of faculty): While the faculty is good, resolving doubts or academic-related queries can sometimes be challenging. Well, I suggest talking to all the professors and reaching out to whom you want as your mentor for your course because it will help you in any way to achieve the end goal.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Constant changes in the immigration rules and no proper guidelines whatsoever, and they even reduced the PSW that is the graduate visa duration, which makes it difficult to get an ROI back, so it's better to keep an eye out on that part if you feel like getting a permanent visa or having settlement options.

My Leeds Experience: Academics, Lifestyle, and Career Prospects
Tips: Do thorough research on the immigration laws. This is the part most students who come here with an ambition of landing a job forget about. If you're coming to this country solely for the purpose of education, I would wholeheartedly recommend it, especially Leeds as a city. It is vibrant and beautiful with so much diversity and people from all backgrounds.
Likes (Indian Food): There's a plethora of restaurants in Leeds with cuisines from all across the globe. Not just Indian. There are pubs in every corner, not just for drinks but for good food as well. There are many AYCE restaurants, hot pot, sushi, the list can go on. - I prefer eating food I cook myself, but I do eat out once in a while when I'm out with friends.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Looking at the UK right now, the Home Office has made things incredibly tough for international students. The salary threshold to get a skilled worker visa sponsorship is now up to £38,700 for most roles, which is honestly a massive ask for a fresh graduate. Unless you're doing something incredibly specialized or already have a ton of experience under your belt, trying to get a company to sponsor you straight out of uni is a massive uphill battle.
A lot of companies might hire you at first on the Graduate Visa, which gives you two years to work after finishing your degree. But the reality is, once those two years are up, most employers will just let you go instead of sponsoring you because the costs are so high. Companies have to shell out thousands for the sponsor license and the Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS), which most just don't want to do for entry-level roles. There’s also been non-stop talk about the government tightening up the rules even further, like pushing the route to PR from 5 years out to 10, which just adds a massive layer of uncertainty.
Being here at Leeds, the uni itself is great, but looking at the bigger picture outside of campus, the overall vibe toward immigrants across the country has gotten pretty tense with the rise of right-wing politics. Honestly, with the visa hustle being this brutal and the general atmosphere shifting the way it is, I’m really not sure if I’d even want to stay here permanently anymore.

Great University, Great Exposure - Just Come Prepared
Tips: Before joining the University of Leeds, students should know that it's an amazing experience, but it does come with its challenges—the cost of living, the weather, and adjusting to a completely new academic system can be a lot to handle initially, so being mentally and financially prepared is really important. The cultural shift is real, as coming from a different country, everything from the food habits and social norms to the pace of life and communication style feels different at first, but you gradually settle in and honestly start enjoying the diversity around you. In terms of scholarships, I did avail myself of one—the process involved submitting a strong personal statement, maintaining a good academic record, and applying well in advance through the university official scholarship portals, and the allowance helped in partially offsetting the tuition, which was a big relief. Overall, I am genuinely satisfied with my experience; the University of Leeds has a strong academic reputation, the course content is well-structured and industry relevant and the UK as a country offers great exposure and career prospects, but it's not a perfect journey, but it's absolutely a worthwhile one, and I would recommend it to any serious student who is ready to put in the effort and make the most of the opportunity.
Likes (Student Life): Honestly, student life at Leeds is an absolute 5 out of 5 and easily one of the best parts of being here. A normal day is usually just a solid mix of hitting lectures, grabbing coffee with friends, and just chilling around campus. The whole vibe here is super lively and inclusive. There’s always something random going on so you never really feel bored or left out.
The uni and the student union constantly throw events, everything from cultural festivals to open mic nights, which are awesome for taking a break and meeting people. Plus, the sheer amount of clubs and societies they have is insane. Whether you want a sports club, a debate group, or a society for your own nationality, there’s literally something for everyone. Especially as an international student, joining these groups is pretty much how you find your crowd and make the place feel like home.
Dislikes (Internships): Honestly, I had to give the internship situation a 3 out of 5. Don't get me wrong, Leeds does have some decent tools like the MyCareer portal and they do host job fairs, but the actual support just isn't that hands-on. When you're an international student trying to figure out the UK job market totally from scratch, it’s honestly pretty brutal. The careers team is nice enough if you go out of your way to find them, but they definitely aren't going to chase you down—it’s 100% on you to take the initiative.
As for the actual jobs, yeah, there are placements that fit certain majors but it feels super limited depending on what course you're doing and the competition is just crazy. The uni isn't doing a terrible job or anything, but we really need more direct, structured tie-ups for specific degrees.

Leeds Mirror for International Students
Tips: Meeting people from different countries and sharing ideas is a better way to improve your soft skills. The method of teaching there is also unique. For scholarships, one must apply before the deadline, and if you're planning to study abroad, plan in advance, like for the UK, one should plan 10 months in advance. Most students in my course were Chinese, and a few were from different parts of the world.
Likes (Indian Food): Indian food is available all around the campus. However, the pricing of food may be expensive even if you're earning and working part-time. I prefer cooking myself and eating outside once a week according to my budget. I tried stocking nonperishable goods in the first week, and for perishables like milk, bread, fruits, and vegetables, I walk about 2 km to buy them from Aldi, the cheapest store in the UK.
Dislikes (Internships): In the UK or any other western nation, students are on their own. Finding an internship is really difficult, especially for people who haven't had experience there. For an internship, you need good references and support of the academicians, who can guide you through the process. There are career fairs where you can meet people from corporates. However, the application process is really time-consuming, and you waste a lot of time completing it.

My dreams my journey from Delhi to Leeds
Tips: Fitting into the British culture is honestly just about a bit of a cultural shift—you really just need to be an extrovert and open to starting conversations, and you'll be completely fine. I actually managed to get a £5,000 scholarship that was specifically set up for Asian students which helped out a lot. Overall, I’d easily rate my experience a 9 out of 10. The uni itself is amazing, the campus is always super lively, and Leeds is just an incredible city to live in—plus it’s way cheaper than London. If you're looking for serious global exposure as a student, I’d definitely tell you to head to the UK. But if you're going purely just to land a job right after, I probably wouldn’t suggest it.
Likes (Indian Food): It's definitely cheaper to cook yourself. If you are going out, you can expect to spend around £10-50 for a meal for two, depending on the restaurants. There are a variety of restaurants, like Indian Tiffin Room and Udaipur; they're definitely a bit on the expensive side, but their food is worth it.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Currently in the UK the job market is very tough to crack due to anti-immigration laws. Every employer seeks a citizen or ILR or someone who has stayed for a longer duration is given more preference. If you ask me according to the current situation, I wouldn't volunteer to immigrate permanently.

Life changing experience
Tips: Honestly, it’s a massive experience. Between the classes and all the campus events, it really forces you to see things differently. You end up meeting people from literally everywhere and learning from professors who actually know their stuff. By the time you finish, you’re basically a completely different person
Likes (Public transportation): The best part about Leeds Uni is that it’s right in the city center, so you can basically walk everywhere. If you do need to head further out, the buses are super easy to use, and you get a decent student discount. Traveling around the rest of the UK is not too bad either like if you grab a railcard, it can actually be pretty cheap to just hop on a train and go explore new spots on the weekend.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): For international master's students, there is not much opportunity available nowadays to be given a work sponsorship visa. Employers prefer to give sponsorship to students who have been in the UK since their bachelor's program or who are British nationals.

It is overall a good experience, but a heavy investment for a one-year degree.
Tips: There is a massive change both personally and professionally. This is my first time away from home and it does feel scary at first but eventually with time you tend to adjust to the lifestyle over here. I did get a scholarship of 6,000 pounds. I'm averagely satisfied with the entire experience as it is very subjective.
Likes (Value for money): The tuition fee is massively high. We pay a huge amount even including a scholarship which I personally feel is not worth it. The focus is more on a practical learning environment but the tuition fee could have been lowered to a huge extent. The university does give out scholarships but make sure to apply for them in advance.
Dislikes (Part time work): Most of the part-time work offered by the university is reserved for undergraduates, as they have a longer course than master's students. Most of the part time work does not relate to the field, and the number of vacancies is very less compared to the volume of applications. I suggest searching LinkedIn for a role in your field of expertise. A student can only work up to 20 hours per week.

MSc International Business - Batch of 2023
4.9
The University of Leeds is best for International Business.
Tips: Come as early as possible. You must join the on-campus early welcome event and the first day of class. It's really helpful to understand the class, campus, classmates, networking, rules, and culture. There are very limited options for scholarships.
Likes (Public transportation): The campus is near the city center and we'll be connected to bus service across all student areas. There's a city bus every 5 minutes around the campus. There are around 15 bus stops across the campus. Also, 24/7 bus service and free night cab service are provided by the university for students.
Dislikes (Value for money): Tuition fees are too high compared to other universities with similar rankings and for similar courses. Teaching, assessment, campus life, and the alumni network are strong, but if you compare the price of the same course at other universities, you can find it cheaper for 31,000 to 35,000.

Great things demand great price.
Tips: The University of Leeds will transform you completely into a different person. You will step out of your comfort zone and work hard. They do provide 6000 pounds scholarship for all indians, and for students from certain countries. In addition to that they also provide an international excellence scholarship which is completely based on your merit.
Likes (Value for money): The education and student life that you get in University of Leeds is outstanding. The teaching and learning system is well rounded, and they even provide internship opportunities for students throughout the course, on the career website where you can apply, but the competition would be very high. In addition to this, they also make sure everyone who had no issues with every sem, get an internship in the final sem, and add "with experience" in the titles of their degree.
Dislikes (Part time work): Part time jobs are kind of hard to land due to congestion and high competition. And also due to the new rules that the government impose on international students, companies prefer full-time workers over the part-time workers. So it's sort of hard to land a part time job than a full job in the same restaurant or a warehouse where typically most part time jobs are there.

An excellent environment for academic and personal growth.
Tips: Students should be prepared to be self-directed and manage their time. The transition of mine was smooth overall. I had to adjust a bit as there are many cultural differences but the environment is so diverse and unique. I got around 9300 pounds of scholarship. Amazing experience, with immense practical learning.
Tips: It is a great experience, although with a mix of ups and downs. One will get a lot of global exposure in all aspects, since it is a whole new country with different kinds of people. Try interacting with all cultural backgrounds for networking purposes. I did receive a scholarship, since the university provides one for indian passport holders. I am impressed with the course and university as it teaches you outside of just books.
Likes (Student Life): College timings are mostly 3/4 hours per day which keeps shuffling according to the timetable. I love connecting with people from different cultural backgrounds and networking in general. Leeds University offers students events and I am a part of the mental health committee, which has made me learn a lot. There are a variety of events and clubs, based on specific interests- such as performing arts, sustainability, photography, organising committees for events and marketing jobs.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): There are post study jobs available in the UK. It is extremely difficult to secure one given the intense competition and fewer seats available. It is imperative to upskill oneself by maybe pursuing online courses. The packages are usually high but for freshers right after Master's, it may be of a considerable amount.

Strong global exposure and opportunities.
Tips: Before coming, learning basic cooking skills is very important. There are cultural shifts that one may experience, but the experience is different from that of your home country. You get to interact with people from different countries which makes one more diverse in experience. There are plenty of scholarships available but they depend on your skills. Very satisfied with the course and experience.
Likes (Value for money): The course is splendid. Every module is carefully designed to meet your future needs. There are separate seminars and workshops dedicated to teaching you, where groups are allocated and in depth research and studying will be done. It is quite interactive in general and very real life based.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The UK recession is really bad. If you apply for jobs in your first year while studying you can manage to find one that aligns with your course and degree, since the return on investment is pretty high. The university also provides support when it comes to job hunting.

The job market is tough right now.
Tips: The weather is harsh and the cold is brutal. So layer up well. Learn how to cook basics. I did get a scholarship; depending on your course, it's different for everybody. I am very satisfied with the university since the course curriculum is quite diverse and offers practical learning.
Likes (Post study jobs): It depends on course to course. The job market is tough but preparation in advance can get you somewhere. There are many email newsletters that you can sign up for and the university career page also helps you prepare for interviews and get a placement.
Dislikes (Public transportation): There are quite a few bus stations and the train is 15/20 minutes walking distance. However it really depends on your accommodation and where you live in order to catch the bus. The city is very walkable, my accommodation is quite close by and the business school is a 15-minute walk from there.

The university was great and friendly.
Tips: It was difficult initially. The large Indian diaspora helped settle easily. The experience was great. However the employability factor is not great as you are supposed to figure that out on yourself. It all depends on one's perseverance. Given the tough job market conditions in the UK it is important to be proactive from the start of the academic journey.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The teaching is world class. It is world ranked. The teaching methodology is great, especially for business courses. The Professors are easy to talk to. They are helpful as well. In my department, the teaching methodology was all very different. For example, in one module named Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Creation, we had lectures, seminars and workshops. All super exciting and engaging.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): During 2023, the UK was slipping into recession. It was very difficult to secure an interview. For that reason, the employability is not satisfactory as compared to the fee charged. Generally, a package of 30000 is given. The job roles are typically graduate roles.

The University of Leeds doesn't have an internship option available for master's.
Tips: Increased my confidence level and am very independent. Cultural changes were huge, but there will always be an Indian around you. It won't affect you much. No scholarship, did part-time for my allowance.
Likes (Quality of faculty): It's very easy accessible due to the online map system in the university app. All the departments follow the same teaching methods. What I found unique would be that there will be a single professor assigned to 5 students with whom we can make an appointment and get a 1:1 coaching. We find faculty members from all around the world.
Dislikes (Internships): The University of Leeds doesn't have an internship option available in Master's as far as I know. They do provide very strong guidance when it comes to job hunting. Easy access to career support. There will always be someone who is willing to listen and support you.

Excellent academics with good career opportunities
Tips: NC State offers a good balance of academics and career opportunities, but managing coursework and time is important. Raleigh is a safe and student-friendly city with a reasonable cost of living compared to many other cities. I did not receive a scholarship, but overall I'm satisfied with the university, the course, and the learning environment.
Likes (Quality of faculty): I rated the faculty 5 because the professors at NC State are highly knowledgeable and research-oriented. The curriculum focuses on both theoretical understanding and practical applications through projects, labs, and industry collaborations. Faculty members are approachable during office hours.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): I gave it a 3 mostly because moving to the US permanently wasn't really my main goal when I picked NC State. I came to Raleigh for the solid academics and the job opportunities, pure and simple. The uni is great for lining up internships and getting your foot in the door with post-study work, but staying long-term is a whole different ball game that completely depends on tricky visa rules and where you want your career to go.

A very welcoming and homely place where you can learn a lot.
Tips: Received a 10% scholarship and a 500 professional development fund to attend conferences and get certificates. Definitely very satisfied with all the learning outcomes. There's also an Indian association that takes care of all Indian students' needs.
Likes (Value for money): The courses are very good. The living expenses of the city of Raleigh are also quite low in comparison to other cities, making it easy to manage expenses while working part time on campus. The tuition is manageable as well and they also waive tuition if you get a TA or RA position.
Dislikes (Internships): There are internships but just the market in general isn't the best right now and for the career fair, only a few companies accept F1 students. Some students who have work experience have got very good internships all around the US and they provide good career guidance services so eventually everyone will definitely get a job.

A challenging yet very supportive university; good opportunities for future.
Tips: The university is academically rigorous but it helped me a lot to learn new things. There are many resources and mentors for you every step whenever you need help. My transition was smooth, I had even got my finances sorted and even secured a part-time job before arriving in the States. Most international students work part-time jobs here. The university offers scholarships and funding to various departments.
Likes (Public transportation): The university has its own public transportation which is well-connected to all campuses and the housing location that students prefer on or off-campus. The frequency is amazing year around. The public transportation is completely free and very convenient.
Dislikes (Value for money): The fee structure is very manageable compared to most of the Universities. And the university being a public university, has various facilities and resources for international students. The departments have funding and scholarships, even if you want to do a the university funds you for it.

Great value-for-money program.
Tips: One of the best courses with a strong curriculum and excellent career support. The Financial Mathematics programme at NC State offers a well-structured and rigorous curriculum. The career services are outstanding and very supportive with good industry exposure and guidance. Tuition is reasonable compared to similar programs and there are multiple scholarship opportunities available. Additionally, there are plenty of on-campus part-time jobs available for students. A great value-for-money programme.
Likes (Value for money): It is one of the best courses with a strong curriculum, excellent career services and reasonable tuition. Being rigorous academically and having excellent career guidance along with great industry exposure with hands-on projects makes this a great value-for-money programme.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Mostly American food options are available at a reasonable price. Indian grocery and food options are not very accessible. I prefer cooking for myself which reduces living expenses by a considerable amount. There is a Feed the Pack free grocery service which you can avail for basic groceries.

Very fulfilling experience.
Tips: The university here is very diverse, and there is plenty of representation on campus. Once you're settled, things move much smoothly and the bus services are free to help you get around. There is an Indian restaurant available, although not as authentic as you might like, but there are plenty of options nearby. I am quite satisfied with my experiences.

Great university for aerospace and Indian students.
Tips: Cultural shock might initially be challenging but the large Indian student population at NC State makes it easy to make friends, which can help ease homesickness. Securing Resident Assistant (RA) or Teaching Assistant (TA) positions is quite competitive so plan accordingly. Finding part-time work is relatively easy; dining jobs offer $10 per hour with a maximum of 20 hours per week, which can cover living expenses if you share a room and budget carefully. Over time you may be able to move into a higher grade or departmental position which is less demanding and offers better pay. Scholarships for Indian nationals are scarce. The university is excellent with a good faculty, well structured coursework and strong research opportunities. Be prepared to dedicate yourself to your studies. The academic approach here differs significantly from Indian universities; cramming won't suffice for good grades. Plan your studies thoroughly

North Carolina State University has been an ideal place for me to learn and grown significantly.
Tips: What I have realised so far is that while the coursework here is challenging, it can also be rewarding. I've learnt to manage my academic commitments with extra curriculums and truly enjoy the experience offered here at NCSU. Students should use a planner or a digital calendar to help them out with their deadlines and planning. The exam patterns here are very different from those in India so it might take some time to adjust our faculty are helpful and you can reach out to them without any hesitation.
