A breakthrough institution.
Tips: Definitely a lot of cultural change. I do feel there is an underlying racism in Australia although I didn't quite see that commonly translated in my University thankfully. I applied for several scholarships, which covered a significant portion of my tuition fees. Some scholarships are also available once students start the course as they are determined by academic merit.
Likes (Post study jobs): For social work, there are several companies willing to offer jobs that enable students to comfortably apply for a temporary graduate visa which can also be applied for without having a job.
In social work, jobs are clinical and non-clinical in nature. Salary packaging starts from 70000.
Dislikes (Value for money): I thought the tuition fees were a bit exorbitant compared to the QS/World ranking of my department/University. I do feel the academic rigour could also be slightly more, as the subjects were more descriptive than practical. There was a lot of spoonfeeding in terms of how to do assignments which followed rigid criteria instead of allowing some room for creativity.

Tips: I personally haven't received any scholarship throughout my degree. People who are planning to join the university, especially for the Data Science course should make sure their math and statistics foundation is pretty good because students have to take at least 2 statistics subjects each semester.
Likes (Safety): Me and my friends haven't come across any trouble during our time at the university. The university has well-equipped facilities to ensure the students are safe in and out of the campus, they have dedicated lines for harassment, racism, and other safety issues. I personally haven't experienced any bad situations during my time in Melbourne for about 2 years.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): The university doesn't offer dedicated placement offers, it is best recommended for students to start looking out for jobs at the start of their final year. There are quite a few companies that offer a sponsor visa and it is hard for international students. People can get into roles like Data & AI consultant, Data Scientist, ML engineer, GenAI engineer, and Data analyst. Freshers can expect 70,000-80,000 as a starting salary.

Multicultural and respectful community.
Tips: I think all the classes happen in a more practical way than theory and that's the most amazing part about it! There is not much exam pressure! There are easy subjects and sometimes putting in the best effort helps and it's very multicultural. Too good.
Likes (Post study jobs): I think all the universities here have a good amount of career fairs that help students get jobs. They have good connections and world class facilities that help in overall development. I think it also means you have to put in your effort in searching for opportunities by doing volunteering or unpaid internships as they count as very important experience.
Dislikes (Student Life): The socialising is amazing, but sometimes after the class there are not many class events. If they could have more involved sessions, it would be great! I think finding your community could take time but it gets easier when you join clubs and chapters and part time jobs.

Easy to get into, but difficult to survive. Feels absolutely worth it when you graduate.
Tips: I personally did not experience a major cultural shift, I was more curious and excited every time I got to know about something different. It all depends on the mindset. I personally did not avail any scholarships. I am very satisfied with my experience at university. However, it is a little difficult to make friends in a new country so you really have to put yourself out there and get out of your comfort zone.
Likes (Indian Food): Since the University of Melbourne campus is in the city, there are so many options for indian food. Almost every convenience store also has samosas. The quality of indian food here is absolutely phenomenal. I don't miss food back home too much because most of it is available here. However, it's quite expensive comparatively.
Dislikes (Quality of faculty): For all my lectures, the faculty was absolutely the best of the best. The University is quite difficult to survive in. But the faculty provide the right guidance and they're always available to sit down and have a chat. They also don't rush towards the end of the lectures. For tutorials they're mostly honours students who help you solve important questions in class. They're also all overachieving students at the university.

The education is good, but support after graduations is limited.
Tips: The transition to university life was smooth; however, post-grad options are limited. Australian universities are not like Indian universities, so make sure you have the mindset when enrolling. Make sure to attend orientation. This helped me a lot.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The education level, the content, and the discussion were all good. Everyone is open to each other's POV. Additionally, we had lots of guest lectures, field trips, and practical lessons. Perhaps the only complaint that I have is the assignments. They were all subjective.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): The University of Melbourne does not provide any career support for grades. Usually, companies like KPMG and EY will usually offer a package of 75,000. It might depend on a different major. I would say, start early and make sure to job hunt. Plus, networking is gold.

Intense academic environment.
Tips: This college is not like back in India, the studies are way more intense you need to focus week on week to get good grades and if you fail here, you can't give supplementary exams, you'll have to end up extending your degree because you have to retake the subject.
Likes (Public transportation): Every place you can imagine, there will be a bus or a tram line available throughout Victoria. I personally travel 2-3 hrs or a few done shots and the transportation lies are just amazing. They are a bit expensive in Victoria but as a student you will get a concession.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The permanent residence in this country purely depends on which degree and major you're pursuing. Personally I'm a Comp Science major and I would need college + 3 years of experience + IELTS bands to compete for the overall point system and we get to work only for 2 years. So unless you get a work sponsorship or you also do your Masters / Ph.D. here it's harder to get PR.

Academic but not professional.
Tips: Try to get out of student accommodation as quickly as possible, move in with a friend, or find people on apps like flatmate finders etc. There are short term loan but not many scholarships
You have to make a very active effort from the first year, I know it's easier said than done, but once you are settled in and please take your time settling in, that is very important; however once you are settled, start building a network, going to events and reaching out to people.
Likes (Safety): Pretty safe campus. They've got on-call security and other safety measures. Never felt unsafe on campus, but please use the services if you do, that's why they are there. It is an open campus, but in the heart of the city. Need to be more careful at night and around the main CBD but the campus is generally good. Beware of cults however.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Very few companies at the moment, and job roles for graduates are minimal unless you work your way up from first year, you can get a decent offer of 70,000.
I'd suggest RMIT or Swinburne for professional opportunities; Unimelb doesn't have that infrastructure.

Carefully choose your university on the basis of personal environmental preference.
Tips: If you are looking for research and are highly competitive this university and course are for you. However if you believe you need more attention in classrooms and better opportunities represented please carefully review your options. The medical and law fields are comparatively much better.
Likes (Indian Food): A lot of food options with prices ranging from 7 for student cheap meals to and avg of 20 for each meal when had outside. Home cooked meals are cheaper but the groceries still cost around 100 per week. But good restaurant options are available, ranging from Indian to Chinese to Nepalese.
Dislikes (Value for money): The course has too many students with very little attention to the quality of the delivery. Additionally, very difficult to get in touch with professors to rectify doubts. The internships and placement options are minimal to None with high competition. Good for research but not work.

Tips: A few might have a cultural shift and a few might not. But all students are friendly and helpful.
A lot of my friends got a scholarship. The university automatically detects one. But there are other scholarships that one can check tin he university handbook and apply for.
Likes (Safety): There are student houses with staff and security.
Out in the city is not in the hands on university. But it would always support various problems, has multiple clubs and associations.
I would suggest not going out super late in the city, the rest is amazing. Great food places to visit. Though it is more Chinese populated, one can easily get through it.
Dislikes (Quality of faculty): Faculty is friendly and approachable but tends to be busy most of the time. Depending on the subjects.
It’s good that we have a lot of assignments and times conferences and presentations too.
It is highly diverse and cheerful.
I personally came across a lot of different national professors and instructors.

Good place to study but worst place to chill.
Tips: It was very difficult to get a scholarship when I joined but I have heard that many people get it these days.
The subjects are really difficult and a lot of people fail as well. Please have at least 3 years of work experience before coming here.
The university is great but the country doesn't have a lot of opportunities.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Great faculty, work in the industry while teaching. Made sure that director of every big company delivered a lecture or a part of it. Industry relevant teaching. Faculty has a lot of experience and works very closely with industry leaders. The campus is really beautiful but you will never get the time to go around.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Australia has a very specific and difficult PR pathway. Rather than spending heavily on education it is better to use that money to get citizenship because education is free for citizens here. Also, they only take the professions they need. Currently they just want health care workers, engineers and people who can do physical labour. The requirements change every year.

Tips: I have been here for 2 years and I have never felt unsafe. The people here don't do anything to make you feel comfortable or unsafe. I have gone out at night as well and nothing happened here. The people here are good and respectful, mostly they mind their own business. Be sure of the course you're taking and research properly about the job opportunities once you graduate. Connect with alumni on LinkedIn and get to know the industry so that you're not wasting your money. The teaching pattern is different here, mostly hands-on. You learn and then you apply all those things in the assignments given to you.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): There are a few courses that give better chances of getting a PR in Australia. The remaining courses don't have that great a chance. The course I did doesn't have a great chance of getting a PR. Nevertheless if I get a proper career pathway to get PR, I'll be choosing that.

Tips: There is a bit of a cultural shift when you come from India but you will adjust within a few weeks/ months. Getting a scholarship as an international Bachelor student is quite tough and I wasn't able to get any. I am satisfied with my university but I do feel like it is quite expensive for what it offers and I am not sure how much return I am going to get out of it.
Likes (Public transportation): Public transport is quite accessible and is very well connected. It is however not very affordable as you have to pay 10 dollars (600 INR) even if you have to travel two stops ahead. But it is very well connected to the city and suburbs and you don't really need a car if living in the city.
Dislikes (Value for money): It is quite a lot and I believe the ROI is not much. The salaries you get compared to what an international student pays don't justify it. But again, it is one of the best universities in the world so you pay for the quality and the experience it offers.

Tips: Coming to University of Melbourne has brought a lot of changes in my personality and the way I perceive things. I have become so much compassionate, humble, kind and friendly. The university gives you an opportunity to meet people from all around the world who have different faith systems and that teaches you to become respectful and patient. Being here has also made me realise the importance of teamwork and professionalism. I have learned how to express myself more confidently and speak up to address any issues in a way that is mature and polite. This cultural transition has made me independent and self-aware.
I received the Business and Economics Scholarship from my university. This was an auto-granted scholarship that was based on my academic performance. The scholarship covers 50% of my tuition fees.
I am highly satisfied with my university, course and Australia. I wouldn't want it any other way. My university is academically oriented and has amazing faculty. They are some of the best people in their field.
Australia is a beautiful country. The people are kind, non racists, warm and welcoming. I found it very easy to adapt to the culture here because it is so open, relaxed and diverse.
For my course, it is slightly a little theoretical, but it provides valuable insights. I like most of my subjects that genuinely interest me. Subjects like consumer and consumption, branding, project management, managerial decision analytics and branding really fascinate me. I also love how the assignments allow you to apply concepts in real case studies.

Diverse and different university experience.
Tips: Moving to Melbourne was a big change but a great cultural experience. The city is diverse and welcoming, though at the university, most of my classmates were from Asian countries, with very few Australian classmates. which was a cultural shift for me. I received the FBE graduate scholarship of approx. $25,000 AUD fee remission by applying directly at the university.
Likes (Indian Food): You can usually find lots of restaurants with different cuisines. One time meal costs anywhere from $23 to $35, depending upon the restaurant, cuisine, etc.
I usually prefer a blend of both, cooking at home 5-6 days and eating outside 1-2 days a week.
Dislikes (Value for money): Studying at the University of Melbourne felt like an interesting cultural experience, but academically and financially, it did not meet my expectations. The tuition fees are extremely high, and I didn't feel the value provided was justified at all. Many subjects were just plain theory rather than practical, leaving me less prepared for employment than I had hoped.

Supportive college environment.
Tips: Do not come here expecting to land a part-time working gig as soon as you arrive. Things like that don't happen easily and take a lot of time. You eventually handle yourself after finding some initial difficulty adjusting to the cultural and ethnic changes in the city. Overall, Melbourne is one of the most accommodating places I've ever been to.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Students can have the time of their lives here. There's literally everything here that a student can ask for. With over two hundred clubs and societies, UniMelb forms one of the biggest student communities in the country, students are given the freedom to explore themselves.
Dislikes (Student Life): The faculty has complete knowledge about their subject, and even beyond that, they're the perfect mix of teacher and mentor. They also know how to maintain their boundaries from students and aren't very over-friendly or in your face with regards to your personal life.

Tips: Do not expect to land a part-time role as soon as you arrive. It can take a lot of time. The education culture of Australia is experience-based, so it'll involve a lot of group discussions and class participation. Hence, it is essential to do the required readings before class in order to make the most of your learning experience.
Likes (Indian Food): There is a variety of options for Indian as well as any other country's food, so you won't get that feeling of homesickness. Since I've come here, I've had the best of experiences trying out different cuisines like Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Argentinean, and whatnot.
Dislikes (Value for money): I feel like the course is expensively priced, and it costs more than double what it does to a domestic student. Although I'm sure the courses provide value for money, I still feel they're at a price that might not be comfortable for everyone to bear.

Finding part-time work can be challenging if you live in the city.
Tips: My transition was rather very personal and socially based. Things get very overwhelming when you leave the shadow of your parents and manage everything alone. Making friends was really difficult for me, and my studies consequently got affected. But over time, you realise that you won't get loyal friendships here. One of the funniest culture shocks was the Unisex Washrooms. Rest, people aren't conservative here, but I suggest you be safe from junkies, since they attack a lot. I couldn't get any scholarship from Unimelb despite getting 92.5% in 12th grade - CBSE. But from other students I know as of July 2023, you can get a grant of 10,000 AUD. Personally, UniMelb is too strict and stressful with studies. There aren't a lot of options if you're seeking courses like fashion studies. I'd suggest Monash for business-oriented subjects. The classes aren't interactive or individual-focused focused especially if you have an Asian tutor.
Likes (Public transportation): If you reside in the city, trams are super convenient, and student accommodation is well-located near the university. Myki cards with a concession cost $5 and are affordable, but many students don't use them often. There are also free tram zones that don't require a Myki card at all! If you need to travel from the suburbs, trains and buses are also super convenient, costing AUD 10 per trip.
Dislikes (Part time work): It is fairly difficult to secure on-campus jobs. Finding part-time work can be challenging if you live in the city. I've been searching for a job myself for the past year, although I did have a part-time job for three months during my first semester. Managing part-time work alongside academics is not difficult at all.

Tips: The University of Melbourne is quite academically oriented when compared to other universities in Melbourne. So, most probably you might hear your friends from another university saying that they don't have exams. But it's quite important to think that exams are a more preferable mode of analysis and can give value to our degree. It also makes sure that we won't steer away from our studies. I was automatically granted a scholarship of 10000 AUD off my fee, but as mentioned, it was assigned to me based on my track record back in India.
Likes (Safety): The campus is extremely safe for students. There are phone booths around the campus, and they provide easy access to security if you’re ever feeling unsafe. The staff of campus buildings are generally very supportive. And the campus security guards do a good job of making the university safe for everyone.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The job market right now is changing drastically, and many courses are being taken off from the PR options, but I believe the university provides enough resources for us to find jobs and utilise the most of it. Ultimately, I wish to get a job in Australia itself, as biotechnology has a great market.

The Universty of Melbourne provides a lot of facilities and amazing opportunities.
Tips: Melbourne is a fun city, and the people are wonderful. University life has been amazing so far. There are so many clubs that you can join and be a part of, and the academics are also so rigorous and hands-on. I was offered the "Business and Economics Graduate Scholarship". It was given based on my undergrad performance. I really enjoy the course that I am doing, the city is wonderful, and so is the university.
Likes (Part time work): On-campus jobs are really competitive but high-paying. For off-campus part-time jobs, you need to go and hand your resume in at the store for a higher chance of success. Managing part-time and university was a bit challenging in the beginning, but you get used to it as time goes by. The average payout for part-time work is $24/hr, and for casual roles, the pay is usually higher, around $30/hr.

Placements at NUS for Biotechnology are pretty low.
Tips: Moving into any country is initially difficult with a lot of challenges, but with time it gets much better. Specially I was happy to find so many Indian friends in a foreign land. No scholarships for this course. Loved my experience at NUS, with great friends and approachable professors. And Singapore is no doubt one of the most beautiful and safest places.
Likes (Student Life): NUS is beautiful and huge with a lot of things to see around. I personally found a great set of Indian friends during my time there. A lot of clubs, both academic and nonacademic are there. My favourite part about NUS was the student lounge called Pitstop, offering video games, TT, foosball, board games etc.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Placements at NUS specifically for Biotechnology are pretty low. But there are career fairs that keep happening around the year, which is a plus point to build your network and get an understanding of the companies in Singapore. Jobs usually start from around 3500SGD - 4500SGD for freshers.

The professors and peers are quite open and helpful.
Tips: Being in Asia the culture is quite similar. The intake of Indian students has increased exponentially over the past few years. The rental cost will be one of the main expenses. If staying off campus which is becoming more and more common due to limited space in the university, it can cost you 1000-1300 sgd/month easily. The tuition grant can reduce the tuition fee substantially and make it easier to get a job later but it can become a double edged sword if you don't get a job. There are no scholarships as such otherwise for undergraduates from India. The best part about Singapore is that it's very easy to travel back to India as the flights are cheaper and not too long. I personally used to go back 3-4 times every year. There are also a lot of places you can visit in Southeast Asia which are not too expensive either. Do note that the coursework generally tends to be quite heavy and the competition is quite high as well. The last few weeks of the semester and exam times can be quite stressful but generally manageable. The professors and peers are generally quite open and helpful. Do note that at the end of the day the culture is very Asian and everyone is more focused on getting good grades and a job. If you want to explore the entrepreneurial side, then NUS shouldn't be your choice. Interaction with alumni seniors and peers is usually quite limited and will depend on your personal effort. There's a very good chance you will only know the names of a handful of your batch mates by the time you graduate.
Likes (Safety): Singapore is probably the safest place you can be in. I would have given it a six star rating if I could. You can leave anything even in public cafes and nobody would touch anything. There are multiple university helplines too to help with mental wellbeing as well.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Being a small country, they are extremely selective when it comes to PR/Citizenship. Even getting a visa for your job can be very hard as the salary requirements are usually much higher than what a fresh graduate will get. There is a tuition grant option available which discounts your tuition fee if you are ready to work in Singapore for at least 3 years. That can make it easier to get a job later as well. Without that, it is very hard to get a job.

Tips: Before joining National University of Singapore students should know that it's highly competitive beneath the surface. Most peers were toppers back home. Internships start as early as Year 1 and grades are often bell curve so doing it isn't always enough; you need to be proactive about building your profile through internships, case competitions, networking and leadership roles from the start. The academic rigour is real especially in business, computing and quantitative fields, and the brand carries strong weight across Asia especially in finance and consulting. The ROI depends heavily on how strategically you use the platform. It's international and full of high achievers which can trigger imposter syndrome and Singapore itself is compact so social life requires effort. NUS rewards initiative, planning and resilience far more than passive participation.

Unlearning and relearning.
Tips: I was lucky enough to have made friends and built my community fairly early on. Sure, there were cultural difference but once you're open to learning and allowing yourself to ease your own stereotypical schemas about the world, adjusting becomes a lot easier.
I did not avail any scholarship, as there weren't any scholarships available by the school for my course. But there are many other private orgs that offer social sciences scholarships.
I wouldn't trade my experience for anything, and look forward to more students having the same experience I did.
Dislikes (Student Life): The faculty at NUS is as diverse as you can imagine. I was lucky to be taught by faculty members with experience across regions USA, Australia, Korea, Singapore, China, industries and teaching modalities. A particular teaching modality that I found value in was our practicums. After our lecture, we were divided into two smaller groups to review case studies, policy documents and mock-simulations. This way we were able to better integrate theoretical knowledge into real-world prescriptions.

Tips: The transition was quite easy for me. Singapore felt somewhat familiar. Almost like a hybrid environment. I'm not on scholarship. I'm quite satisfied being here. It is a great country with strong opportunities. Although the outcome still depends on market conditions and a bit of luck.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Quite approachable and super smart faculty. Courses are challenging enough in the mathematics department, and students are incredibly bright. Pushes you to think harder. Faculty is diverse, different colleges eg. College of Humanities, have greater diversity in faculty.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Companies sponsor based on your skill and experience. You have to work quite hard to balance coursework and internship applications and sometimes even internships. Have to work quite hard and hustle with university. The minimum amount to sponsor an Employment Pass is above 6,200/month in financial services. So that should be a good baseline.

Fulfilling experience studying at NUS.
Tips: Scholarships are plenty, you should definitely apply for one. Most of them, though, come with a bond. There are of course some culture difference but you can settle in easily. If you are a vegetarian, food options may be a bit limited. NUS is a good place to be.
Likes (Student Life): Well maintained hostels within campus, a lot of activities, amazing sports facilities, a wide variety of communities and opportunities to build your own society/clubs. The campus has events happening throughout the year from the student life fair to Supernova (a concert).
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): To apply for a PR in Singapore is getting progressively harder. If you really want to ensure that you get one, you will need to prove extremely beneficial to their country and economy. Have a portfolio that reflects what you have done for the country. But given that, it's not impossible.

Tips: There is a tuition grant which is available for international students which helps you reduce tuition feels upto 50% and contractually work in a Singapore registered company after graduation. Having said that kindly check the Ministry of Education policy and documents before considering this option.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Singapore PR is very tough to get and citizenship is close to impossible; it protects its citizens as a priority and is very tough to apply for citizenship. It is a highly protected country but we have an opportunity for an employment pass which serves as a right to work in Singapore.

Perfect place for focused individuals.
Tips: Very easy and convenient mode of transport. There are buses or metro connections to every part of the city and you can track your journey on Google Maps itself which is very accurate. The cost of public transport is very cheap and the buses and metro journeys is calculated as a sum of the journey and not charged per ride. Getting a job is totally dependent on how well you network. For Indians, it's easy to shift as you can find a lot of Indians living and working here. Very much satisfied with NUS and the alumni connect and opportunities you get as a part of the programme.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The Singapore law isn't easier for a foreign individual to get PR. You can get an employment visa from the employers which allows you to work in Singapore as per the contract. If completed Ph.D. then the chances for you to get PR would be increased as your contribution to the country's research will matter a lot.

NUS MBA is good if you are open to exploring job opportunities outside of Singapore.
Tips: Come with a clearly defined goal of what you want from the program and dont expect to learn what you want from the program. Network with people a lot to help break into opportunities and dont rely on the college to find you a job. Push yourself to go out and learn new things, participate in case competitions, go on study trips (GIP) and make friends from different cultures.
Likes (Student Life): The college campus provides great infrastructure and offers a good college life right from sports all the way to libraries. There are more than 13 tennis courts, numerous basketball courts, gymnasiums and much more. The library is huge and it offers diverse choices. On top of this there are different options to choose from in terms of residence and you can interact with a diverse cohort.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Tough job market since the government launched COMPAS to award work permits. Due to this, recruiters find it difficult to hire expats. If you have a generic skill it is difficult to get hired. There is a premium on technical skillsets.

Great university and good opportunities.
Tips: There will be some cultural differences when students come to Singapore for the first time. I got the SINGA scholarship by A*STAR for my course which covers my tuition fee and gives me a monthly stipend of 2700SGD per month for two years and which increases to 3300SGD per month for another two years.
Likes (Public transportation): All the places are well connected with metro and buses. The most common are the metro and buses. You can use the same card in both and you can also use your bank cards. The public transportation is affordable as compared to cabs and owning a personal vehicle.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): It is difficult to get a PR as it is very competitive and quota based. You can settle here with long term pass as well. If given a chance I would love to permanently immigrate here because of various reasons such as safety, security, clean environment.

A rigorous and international experience at NUS.
Tips: Students should be aware that this programme is academically rigorous and fast-paced, with reading that needs to be completed before each class. Students need to be proactive about networking and internship opportunities, as these are independent of the coursework. The transition was generally smooth. Classes are interactive and students are expected to participate as part of their grades and contribute from their own previous experiences. Personally, I did not avail myself of any scholarships. However the university offers certain merit-based scholarships as seen on their website, but these are competitive and limited in number and dependent on academic performance. I am satisfied with the university and the course due to the strength of the faculty and international exposure, safety, infrastructure and quality of life.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculty consists of leading academicians and senior practitioners who are recognised authorities in their respective fields. Faculty members are approachable. Professors are open to discussions beyond class hours respond to emails and actively engage during lectures. The teaching methodology focuses on both theory and practice.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Permanent immigration in Singapore is connected to securing long-term employment. As an international student pursuing an LL.M. at NUS the course itself does not guarantee job placement. The university does not provide a placement process. Given a competitive and saturated job market transitioning from a student visa to a work visa can be uncertain. Having said that, if table employment opportunities are available I would be interested in permanently immigrating to Singapore.

Great place to study with a lot of opportunities.
Tips: It is a fantastic place to study. Just don't expect to find a job easily. Also, you surely need to follow the rules, otherwise you will be in trouble. If you like to study as well as have fun, Singapore, NUS and NTU are most certainly the right places for you.
Likes (Part time work): A lot of opportunities. Can work for about 20 hours a week. Classes are late in the day for post graduation, hence it was easy to manage. I worked on campus as well as outside. The opportunities to be a teaching assistant or tutor were ample. Additional campus and tutoring jobs were common.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Most of the students who studied with me have moved to other countries or have returned home as it has not been very favourable for non-Singapore citizens and permanent residents. However, it is a fantastic city and country. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there.

A year of growth, grit and global learning; between books, botanical gardens and dreams.
Tips: Half of my batchmates were from China. They are quite smart and a close community. It will take time to get up with them but they are sweet, kind and simple. The country itself is quite silent except for tourist places. The day begins at 6 am & ends at 7 pm for them. However, for law students the classes go from 9 am to 9:30 pm depending on the subjects one opts for. The professors are quite down to earth and will guide you whenever you are stuck. There are numerous networking events in NUS and at various law firms. It is quite interesting to meet fellow lawyers and partners of the firm, especially the alumni. It was a wonderful experience living on your own and managing in a new country.
Likes (Student Life): Student life is too good. One gets flexibility to choose the subjects, interact directly with the professors, spend time in the study room and library, and explore the greenery around the campus. Fortunately, we got the botanical garden campus which was well connected to the main campus. We got to learn in a calm atmosphere with pleasant weather and explore the main campus which had a lot of events, museums, etc. to explore.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Considering the huge legal market and amount of competition, it is quite challenging to secure a full time position in Singapore. Strong networking and convincing skills along with a good resume may help to secure a full time position. After LL.M. one is required to give the FPE exam to practice in Singapore courts. If one wants to work in Singapore without giving the FPE exam, it is better to pursue a JD programme instead of an LL.M.

Quality education without emptying your pockets.
Tips: Be prepared for high quality education with quality students from the rest of Asian. The environment is highly competitive but also conducive to learning. NUS changed my life completely and gave me my best years of learning, growth and friendships.
Likes (Indian Food): There is a food court culture in NUS where every faculty and residence has its own food courts with multiple options including that of Indian food. While pantries are there with each residence, there is hardly a need to cook your own food because food is available cheaply and easily.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Multiple companies across sectors sponsor visas however it is becoming increasingly difficult. Salaries can range from as low as 40,000 annually to 1,20,000, depending on the sector and quality. There is no on-campus placement system here. Jobs are through career fair and offline applications so applicants need to self prepare and self-apply.

Tips: Be mindful of the fact that getting a job in SG and settling down in SG is not a certainty post the course and the job market in SG is mostly closed to international students but getting an internship is relatively easier in SG while you are enrolled in a full time course
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Due to recent changes in immigration policy, it is difficult even to get a work permit as a foreigner, let alone a PR. Firms in SG have a quota on how much of foreigners they can employ in their respective companies, and the quota for Indians is largely exhausted.

Adapting, learning and growing.
Tips: Life changes a lot when moving to Singapore. A degree here at NUS teaches both research and life skills. The school of medicine offers free mentorship and the university offers free therapy sessions which help manage stress. Be ready for cultural diversity and balancing your own roots with a new environment. The first year was challenging, adjusting to Singapore's diverse culture while staying connected to home away. Over time, I adapted and gained a broader perspective on people, life and friendships. I'm on a NUS research scholarship, which covers full tuition and gives a monthly stipend of SGD 2700 before PQE and SGD 3500 after. I first emailed my professor, later applied via the NUS website, submitted a proposal, went through an interview and cleared the GRE. I'm very blessed with NUS, my course and my supportive supervisors, while Singapore offers a satisfactory worklife balance and inclusivity.
Likes (Value for money): My course is fully funded by the NUS Research Scholarship, which covers tuition and provides a stipend. I became a president assistant in campus housing, so I have my accommodation secured too. Apart from the initial fight ticket, I haven't had major expenses, which makes studying here very cost effective. I feel the value for money is excellent.
Dislikes (Indian Food): I come from Kerala, India and I could find authentic Kerala food, pretty far from NUS. Within my university, there is a mix of casual eateries, cafes and fast food chain. I generally prefer to eat outside as my course keeps me busy and not all housing allows full cooking facilities. For those very particular about food, learning quick cooking hacks can be helpful when living abroad.
