A breakthrough institution.
Tips: Definitely a lot of cultural change. I do feel there is an underlying racism in Australia although I didn't quite see that commonly translated in my University thankfully. I applied for several scholarships, which covered a significant portion of my tuition fees. Some scholarships are also available once students start the course as they are determined by academic merit.
Likes (Post study jobs): For social work, there are several companies willing to offer jobs that enable students to comfortably apply for a temporary graduate visa which can also be applied for without having a job.
In social work, jobs are clinical and non-clinical in nature. Salary packaging starts from 70000.
Dislikes (Value for money): I thought the tuition fees were a bit exorbitant compared to the QS/World ranking of my department/University. I do feel the academic rigour could also be slightly more, as the subjects were more descriptive than practical. There was a lot of spoonfeeding in terms of how to do assignments which followed rigid criteria instead of allowing some room for creativity.

The university doesn't offer dedicated placement offers.
Tips: I personally haven't received any scholarship throughout my degree. People who are planning to join the university, especially for the Data Science course should make sure their math and statistics foundation is pretty good because students have to take at least 2 statistics subjects each semester.
Likes (Safety): Me and my friends haven't come across any trouble during our time at the university. The university has well-equipped facilities to ensure the students are safe in and out of the campus, they have dedicated lines for harassment, racism, and other safety issues. I personally haven't experienced any bad situations during my time in Melbourne for about 2 years.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): The university doesn't offer dedicated placement offers, it is best recommended for students to start looking out for jobs at the start of their final year. There are quite a few companies that offer a sponsor visa and it is hard for international students. People can get into roles like Data & AI consultant, Data Scientist, ML engineer, GenAI engineer, and Data analyst. Freshers can expect 70,000-80,000 as a starting salary.

Multicultural and respectful community.
Tips: I think all the classes happen in a more practical way than theory and that's the most amazing part about it! There is not much exam pressure! There are easy subjects and sometimes putting in the best effort helps and it's very multicultural. Too good.
Likes (Post study jobs): I think all the universities here have a good amount of career fairs that help students get jobs. They have good connections and world class facilities that help in overall development. I think it also means you have to put in your effort in searching for opportunities by doing volunteering or unpaid internships as they count as very important experience.
Dislikes (Student Life): The socialising is amazing, but sometimes after the class there are not many class events. If they could have more involved sessions, it would be great! I think finding your community could take time but it gets easier when you join clubs and chapters and part time jobs.

Easy to get into, but difficult to survive. Feels absolutely worth it when you graduate.
Tips: I personally did not experience a major cultural shift, I was more curious and excited every time I got to know about something different. It all depends on the mindset. I personally did not avail any scholarships. I am very satisfied with my experience at university. However, it is a little difficult to make friends in a new country so you really have to put yourself out there and get out of your comfort zone.
Likes (Indian Food): Since the University of Melbourne campus is in the city, there are so many options for indian food. Almost every convenience store also has samosas. The quality of indian food here is absolutely phenomenal. I don't miss food back home too much because most of it is available here. However, it's quite expensive comparatively.
Dislikes (Quality of faculty): For all my lectures, the faculty was absolutely the best of the best. The University is quite difficult to survive in. But the faculty provide the right guidance and they're always available to sit down and have a chat. They also don't rush towards the end of the lectures. For tutorials they're mostly honours students who help you solve important questions in class. They're also all overachieving students at the university.

The education is good, but support after graduations is limited.
Tips: The transition to university life was smooth; however, post-grad options are limited. Australian universities are not like Indian universities, so make sure you have the mindset when enrolling. Make sure to attend orientation. This helped me a lot.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The education level, the content, and the discussion were all good. Everyone is open to each other's POV. Additionally, we had lots of guest lectures, field trips, and practical lessons. Perhaps the only complaint that I have is the assignments. They were all subjective.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): The University of Melbourne does not provide any career support for grades. Usually, companies like KPMG and EY will usually offer a package of 75,000. It might depend on a different major. I would say, start early and make sure to job hunt. Plus, networking is gold.

Intense academic environment.
Tips: This college is not like back in India, the studies are way more intense you need to focus week on week to get good grades and if you fail here, you can't give supplementary exams, you'll have to end up extending your degree because you have to retake the subject.
Likes (Public transportation): Every place you can imagine, there will be a bus or a tram line available throughout Victoria. I personally travel 2-3 hrs or a few done shots and the transportation lies are just amazing. They are a bit expensive in Victoria but as a student you will get a concession.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The permanent residence in this country purely depends on which degree and major you're pursuing. Personally I'm a Comp Science major and I would need college + 3 years of experience + IELTS bands to compete for the overall point system and we get to work only for 2 years. So unless you get a work sponsorship or you also do your Masters / Ph.D. here it's harder to get PR.

Academic but not professional.
Tips: Try to get out of student accommodation as quickly as possible, move in with a friend, or find people on apps like flatmate finders etc. There are short term loan but not many scholarships
You have to make a very active effort from the first year, I know it's easier said than done, but once you are settled in and please take your time settling in, that is very important; however once you are settled, start building a network, going to events and reaching out to people.
Likes (Safety): Pretty safe campus. They've got on-call security and other safety measures. Never felt unsafe on campus, but please use the services if you do, that's why they are there. It is an open campus, but in the heart of the city. Need to be more careful at night and around the main CBD but the campus is generally good. Beware of cults however.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Very few companies at the moment, and job roles for graduates are minimal unless you work your way up from first year, you can get a decent offer of 70,000.
I'd suggest RMIT or Swinburne for professional opportunities; Unimelb doesn't have that infrastructure.

Carefully choose your university on the basis of personal environmental preference.
Tips: If you are looking for research and are highly competitive this university and course are for you. However if you believe you need more attention in classrooms and better opportunities represented please carefully review your options. The medical and law fields are comparatively much better.
Likes (Indian Food): A lot of food options with prices ranging from 7 for student cheap meals to and avg of 20 for each meal when had outside. Home cooked meals are cheaper but the groceries still cost around 100 per week. But good restaurant options are available, ranging from Indian to Chinese to Nepalese.
Dislikes (Value for money): The course has too many students with very little attention to the quality of the delivery. Additionally, very difficult to get in touch with professors to rectify doubts. The internships and placement options are minimal to None with high competition. Good for research but not work.

Tips: A few might have a cultural shift and a few might not. But all students are friendly and helpful.
A lot of my friends got a scholarship. The university automatically detects one. But there are other scholarships that one can check tin he university handbook and apply for.
Likes (Safety): There are student houses with staff and security.
Out in the city is not in the hands on university. But it would always support various problems, has multiple clubs and associations.
I would suggest not going out super late in the city, the rest is amazing. Great food places to visit. Though it is more Chinese populated, one can easily get through it.
Dislikes (Quality of faculty): Faculty is friendly and approachable but tends to be busy most of the time. Depending on the subjects.
It’s good that we have a lot of assignments and times conferences and presentations too.
It is highly diverse and cheerful.
I personally came across a lot of different national professors and instructors.

Good place to study but worst place to chill.
Tips: It was very difficult to get a scholarship when I joined but I have heard that many people get it these days.
The subjects are really difficult and a lot of people fail as well. Please have at least 3 years of work experience before coming here.
The university is great but the country doesn't have a lot of opportunities.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Great faculty, work in the industry while teaching. Made sure that director of every big company delivered a lecture or a part of it. Industry relevant teaching. Faculty has a lot of experience and works very closely with industry leaders. The campus is really beautiful but you will never get the time to go around.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Australia has a very specific and difficult PR pathway. Rather than spending heavily on education it is better to use that money to get citizenship because education is free for citizens here. Also, they only take the professions they need. Currently they just want health care workers, engineers and people who can do physical labour. The requirements change every year.

Tips: I have been here for 2 years and I have never felt unsafe. The people here don't do anything to make you feel comfortable or unsafe. I have gone out at night as well and nothing happened here. The people here are good and respectful, mostly they mind their own business. Be sure of the course you're taking and research properly about the job opportunities once you graduate. Connect with alumni on LinkedIn and get to know the industry so that you're not wasting your money. The teaching pattern is different here, mostly hands-on. You learn and then you apply all those things in the assignments given to you.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): There are a few courses that give better chances of getting a PR in Australia. The remaining courses don't have that great a chance. The course I did doesn't have a great chance of getting a PR. Nevertheless if I get a proper career pathway to get PR, I'll be choosing that.

Academically challenging but good.
Tips: There is a bit of a cultural shift when you come from India but you will adjust within a few weeks/ months. Getting a scholarship as an international Bachelor student is quite tough and I wasn't able to get any. I am satisfied with my university but I do feel like it is quite expensive for what it offers and I am not sure how much return I am going to get out of it.
Likes (Public transportation): Public transport is quite accessible and is very well connected. It is however not very affordable as you have to pay 10 dollars (600 INR) even if you have to travel two stops ahead. But it is very well connected to the city and suburbs and you don't really need a car if living in the city.
Dislikes (Value for money): It is quite a lot and I believe the ROI is not much. The salaries you get compared to what an international student pays don't justify it. But again, it is one of the best universities in the world so you pay for the quality and the experience it offers.

Tips: Coming to University of Melbourne has brought a lot of changes in my personality and the way I perceive things. I have become so much compassionate, humble, kind and friendly. The university gives you an opportunity to meet people from all around the world who have different faith systems and that teaches you to become respectful and patient. Being here has also made me realise the importance of teamwork and professionalism. I have learned how to express myself more confidently and speak up to address any issues in a way that is mature and polite. This cultural transition has made me independent and self-aware.
I received the Business and Economics Scholarship from my university. This was an auto-granted scholarship that was based on my academic performance. The scholarship covers 50% of my tuition fees.
I am highly satisfied with my university, course and Australia. I wouldn't want it any other way. My university is academically oriented and has amazing faculty. They are some of the best people in their field.
Australia is a beautiful country. The people are kind, non racists, warm and welcoming. I found it very easy to adapt to the culture here because it is so open, relaxed and diverse.
For my course, it is slightly a little theoretical, but it provides valuable insights. I like most of my subjects that genuinely interest me. Subjects like consumer and consumption, branding, project management, managerial decision analytics and branding really fascinate me. I also love how the assignments allow you to apply concepts in real case studies.

Diverse and different university experience.
Tips: Moving to Melbourne was a big change but a great cultural experience. The city is diverse and welcoming, though at the university, most of my classmates were from Asian countries, with very few Australian classmates. which was a cultural shift for me. I received the FBE graduate scholarship of approx. $25,000 AUD fee remission by applying directly at the university.
Likes (Indian Food): You can usually find lots of restaurants with different cuisines. One time meal costs anywhere from $23 to $35, depending upon the restaurant, cuisine, etc.
I usually prefer a blend of both, cooking at home 5-6 days and eating outside 1-2 days a week.
Dislikes (Value for money): Studying at the University of Melbourne felt like an interesting cultural experience, but academically and financially, it did not meet my expectations. The tuition fees are extremely high, and I didn't feel the value provided was justified at all. Many subjects were just plain theory rather than practical, leaving me less prepared for employment than I had hoped.

Supportive college environment.
Tips: Do not come here expecting to land a part-time working gig as soon as you arrive. Things like that don't happen easily and take a lot of time. You eventually handle yourself after finding some initial difficulty adjusting to the cultural and ethnic changes in the city. Overall, Melbourne is one of the most accommodating places I've ever been to.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Students can have the time of their lives here. There's literally everything here that a student can ask for. With over two hundred clubs and societies, UniMelb forms one of the biggest student communities in the country, students are given the freedom to explore themselves.
Dislikes (Student Life): The faculty has complete knowledge about their subject, and even beyond that, they're the perfect mix of teacher and mentor. They also know how to maintain their boundaries from students and aren't very over-friendly or in your face with regards to your personal life.

The university is quite expensive.
Tips: Do not expect to land a part-time role as soon as you arrive. It can take a lot of time. The education culture of Australia is experience-based, so it'll involve a lot of group discussions and class participation. Hence, it is essential to do the required readings before class in order to make the most of your learning experience.
Likes (Indian Food): There is a variety of options for Indian as well as any other country's food, so you won't get that feeling of homesickness. Since I've come here, I've had the best of experiences trying out different cuisines like Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Argentinean, and whatnot.
Dislikes (Value for money): I feel like the course is expensively priced, and it costs more than double what it does to a domestic student. Although I'm sure the courses provide value for money, I still feel they're at a price that might not be comfortable for everyone to bear.

Finding part-time work can be challenging if you live in the city.
Tips: My transition was rather very personal and socially based. Things get very overwhelming when you leave the shadow of your parents and manage everything alone. Making friends was really difficult for me, and my studies consequently got affected. But over time, you realise that you won't get loyal friendships here. One of the funniest culture shocks was the Unisex Washrooms. Rest, people aren't conservative here, but I suggest you be safe from junkies, since they attack a lot. I couldn't get any scholarship from Unimelb despite getting 92.5% in 12th grade - CBSE. But from other students I know as of July 2023, you can get a grant of 10,000 AUD. Personally, UniMelb is too strict and stressful with studies. There aren't a lot of options if you're seeking courses like fashion studies. I'd suggest Monash for business-oriented subjects. The classes aren't interactive or individual-focused focused especially if you have an Asian tutor.
Likes (Public transportation): If you reside in the city, trams are super convenient, and student accommodation is well-located near the university. Myki cards with a concession cost $5 and are affordable, but many students don't use them often. There are also free tram zones that don't require a Myki card at all! If you need to travel from the suburbs, trains and buses are also super convenient, costing AUD 10 per trip.
Dislikes (Part time work): It is fairly difficult to secure on-campus jobs. Finding part-time work can be challenging if you live in the city. I've been searching for a job myself for the past year, although I did have a part-time job for three months during my first semester. Managing part-time work alongside academics is not difficult at all.

Tips: The University of Melbourne is quite academically oriented when compared to other universities in Melbourne. So, most probably you might hear your friends from another university saying that they don't have exams. But it's quite important to think that exams are a more preferable mode of analysis and can give value to our degree. It also makes sure that we won't steer away from our studies. I was automatically granted a scholarship of 10000 AUD off my fee, but as mentioned, it was assigned to me based on my track record back in India.
Likes (Safety): The campus is extremely safe for students. There are phone booths around the campus, and they provide easy access to security if you’re ever feeling unsafe. The staff of campus buildings are generally very supportive. And the campus security guards do a good job of making the university safe for everyone.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The job market right now is changing drastically, and many courses are being taken off from the PR options, but I believe the university provides enough resources for us to find jobs and utilise the most of it. Ultimately, I wish to get a job in Australia itself, as biotechnology has a great market.

The Universty of Melbourne provides a lot of facilities and amazing opportunities.
Tips: Melbourne is a fun city, and the people are wonderful. University life has been amazing so far. There are so many clubs that you can join and be a part of, and the academics are also so rigorous and hands-on. I was offered the "Business and Economics Graduate Scholarship". It was given based on my undergrad performance. I really enjoy the course that I am doing, the city is wonderful, and so is the university.

Tips: Honestly, studying at THI is a massive wake-up call that forces you to grow up overnight. You end up picking up serious patience and discipline just trying to survive the sheer amount of German bureaucracy—the endless paperwork out here is genuinely mind-numbing and will test your sanity, but it does build some major life skills. The campus vibe in Ingolstadt itself is actually great though, and it’s super easy to naturally mix with people from all over the world. Tips: After coming here to Germany, summer will be a blessing, winter is manageable, and April-May is basically four seasons in a day—unpredictable. Mostly fewer people will get scholarships through the DAAD website. The allowance will depend on which scholarship you got.
Likes (Value for money): Compared to other states like Baden-Württemberg, THI has lower fees and provides strong academic knowledge as well. There'll be a social contribution of 72 euros apart from your curriculum fee. For our batch 2025-2026, the semester fee is 500. Probably for the upcoming semester, it will increase.
Dislikes (Part time work): Too many students for few vacancies. Getting a thesis or work-study is a bit difficult on campus. The opening will be posted on the university website or as posters outside labs. Off-campus, unless you have a B1 level in Germany, it is kind difficult to get in. Pay will be mostly 1500€ for part-time and around 2200€ for internship before tax.

A rewarding experience that demands high independance and German Language skills
Tips: Transitioning was quite an experience. You have to be really independent to be able to get things done, be it studies, travel, or anything. Language is a must. Though many people in larger cities speak English, that will not be the case everywhere. In order to get any kind of part-time or student position jobs, they really need you to know German. I have not availed scholarships, but getting a part-time or working student position will be really helpful for you to learn language and to extend your visa as well. I am pretty satisfied with my course content and structure. But sadly the curriculum and the structure have changed for the intake that started after us. Getting into the course itself has become really competitive now.
Likes (Public transportation): Frequent bus connectivity throughout the city is available. There are 2 train stations close to the city for easier travel to other cities. There are only taxis, rental e-scooters, public buses and trains; sadly we do not have trams here. As a student, having a Deutschland ticket is really affordable compared to the individual ticket rates for buses and trains.

Highly structured course that prepares you for the future, but you must drive your own success.
Tips: German universities are big on independent learning, so you really have to manage your own schedule, prep for lectures ahead of time, and handle your assignments with barely any hand-holding. On top of that, learning German up to a B2 level either before or while you're here is a massive help for landing good student gigs. Moving here was pretty smooth overall, though finding a place to live and dealing with the city registration (Anmeldung) can definitely feel overwhelming at first.
I didn't get a scholarship myself since my course doesn't have tuition fees anyway. Like most international students here, I just cover my living costs by working part-time student jobs. That said, there are options like DAAD or the Deutschlandstipendium out there that can help save some cash.
Honestly, I'm really happy with how things are going. The coursework is super well-structured and focuses exactly on the kind of modern tech rolling into the auto sector right now. Even though Germany is famous for being an automotive powerhouse all the recent news about the industry going through a massive shakeup can be a bit intimidating. But at the end of the day, if you have a lot of personal initiative, stay proactive, and adapt to these new technologies, it’s not that hard to bridge the gap and land some great career opportunities.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): If I decide to stay here permanently, my chances are honestly pretty high. Graduating with an automotive engineering degree from a German uni puts me right in the middle of one of the biggest sectors in the country's economy. As long as I stay proactive, land an engineering gig within my 18-month job-seeker visa window, and actually put in the effort to master the language, the visa rules make getting permanent residency super achievable.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): I gave it a 3-star rating because even though the job openings are definitely out there, the market right now is super tough and competitive. The German auto industry is going through a massive shakeup at the moment, shifting away from old-school manufacturing and focusing heavily on electric cars and software. Because of that, companies have really slowed down their hiring and are being incredibly picky about who they take. Plus, while the university gives you a really solid technical foundation, actually landing a job is completely on you—it all comes down to your own networking, past experience, and German language skills.

Bittersweet way of Life.
Tips: New non-EU students have a heavy tuition fee of €1572 per semester. And for a small city like Ingolstadt, the cost of living is definitely high compared to eastern German cities. But then again, you’re in Bavaria, which is easily one of the most stunning parts of the country anyway.
Likes (Student Life): So many options to connect with students and enjoy. They organize programs every week. Lots and lots of diverse activities. Student groups and the Erasmus group are very strong here. Due to the Deutschland ticket, it is very easy to visit a lot of places in Bavaria on one-day trips, which feels straight out of Fairy Tale.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Not enough authentic restaurants. To be precise, none. But some frozen items at stores could be okay. (North Indian). Literally zero South Indian options. The restaurants we have (a pretty decent number for a small town) are around 5-6. But all of them are as bad as it gets.

A place where studies & exams are not stressful.
Tips: Indian students need to change their mentality of memorising and passing exams. In Germany professors expect you to learn everything rather than just memorize. Exams are very different in India and mainly focused on problem-solving. Aids are also provided in exams so that students won't have to remember lengthy formulas.
Likes (Value for money): There are no tuition fees at THI, but a service fee is charged, which is not much as compared to other countries or private universities in Germany. The mentioned service fees might have changed in 2025, so please check once. The facilities provided by the university totally justify the service fees.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Visa sponsorships are very rare, as the cost of a visa is not much, and one can easily handle it on their own. Permanent full-time job roles are very limited and not easily achievable. Salary packages for freshers are around 50-60k per year. Most freshers get the job roles in junior engineer positions. These jobs are often contract-based and are highly volatile in today's market. Getting a job on company payroll is extremely difficult for core engineering roles. Engineering & Management roles are easily available. The most important tip is to learn German till at least B1.

perfect place to get your masters degree
Tips: The cultural shifts here are real. Like, the second you step into Bavaria, you can immediately feel the difference between standard German and the local Bayerisch dialect, so definitely be ready for a bit of a language shock. Scholarship-wise, there’s actually a bunch of options you can find if you look around, but I didn't even bother applying since my semester contribution was already so cheap anyway. Honestly, I’ve just been super happy with how the whole uni is run.
I’m really happy with the university overall. But if you're looking at the courses now, they've started offering a bunch of AI-focused modules, and I’d honestly suggest leaning toward those. You can just tell that's where the future of the industry is heading.
Likes (Value for money): When I did this course of master's in automotive production engineering, the feelings structure was low. I just had to pay 65 euro, which is not the fee. It's a semester contribution to the student services. But nowadays feelings are so much higher for the same course within Bayern. So for me it was value for money; I got the master's degree for just 65 euro per semester. But maybe not for upcoming students.
Dislikes (Internships): My degree program didn't actually require a formal internship, so I don't have that specific corporate placement on my record. That said, I was working part-time on the side for a company that paid me really well because of what I was learning in my master's. So I still got a ton of solid, hands-on work experience during my studies anyway.But there are opportunities in this; it has so many programs where they hire students for internships.

Tips: Try to go to bigger cities for better job opportunities. Learn German and have a basic understanding of technical terms in German. Have a strong foundation of your major from India. Likes (Public transportation): Fully reliable, easy and convenient, and well connected. The city is well connected through buses. If one can take the student pass monthly, it can be as cheap as 35 euro or so. No trams in the city yet, but the buses are mostly punctual and cover most important areas, including the city center and residential locations.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The permanent settlement status all depends upon receiving the full-time job contact and according to the minimum Blue Card salary limit of Germany. Although the process is lengthy and depends upon the city. Big cities like Berlin/Munich take longer to process visa status. Given a chance, I would consider.

Tips: Look, the reality is that learning German isn't just a bonus anymore. It’s a flat-out necessity if you want to find a part-time job or anything full-time here. Having some actual work experience under your belt is another massive help because the market is just getting insanely crowded right now. I see tons of students constantly striking out on basic internships and student gigs mostly because they don't know the language or they’re just missing the right skills.
Likes (Safety): Public transport is reliable and safe; emergency services respond quickly, as there was an instance where I had to call emergency services. There are rules and systems in place everywhere. People usually respect rules and personal space. In the campus at the start of the semester, especially for girls, they provide classes for their safety and well-being.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Studying at THI has been great, and Germany definitely has a lot of potential but honestly trying to figure out your future here is a stressful waiting game. Dealing with the endless visa paperwork, the language barrier, and trying to land a secure, long-term job can feel completely overwhelming. Do not expect the professors to spoon-feed you the material—the academic workload is heavy and completely on you to figure out. On that note, learning German before you step foot in Ingolstadt isn't just a recommendation, it's a flat-out survival requirement. The market here is incredibly competitive right now, and if you don't speak the language, you are going to struggle hard.
Honestly, look at the career side of things: finding internships and post-study jobs here feels almost impossible, and the university doesn't really give you a safety net. Don't come here expecting a scholarship either; I didn't get a single cent, so you need your finances locked down.
That said the university itself is fantastic in other ways. The faculty members are top-notch, highly experienced, and super supportive. Plus, Ingolstadt is incredibly safe, and the public transportation system is flawless—getting around is completely stress-free. Adapting to life here takes some work; hitting the ground running with student groups and part-time gigs is the best way to blend in, though adjusting to German punctuality and the strict timeline shift is a bit of a culture shock at first. Oh, and definitely brace yourself to cook at home, because the local food choices from back home are pretty much nonexistent. Tips: Enrol in language classes early as only 20-25 students are allowed for a level.
Management helps with any problem regarding mental health, scholarships, integration into German society, language and visa issues. Just email them or book one on one session online.
Likes (Value for money): The tuition fee is minimal, but it has increased to around 500 euros per semester in recent months.
You can use jobs to manage other expenses. Lifestyle expenses can be managed with part time jobs.
Jobs are sometimes scarce in winter time, but there are apps on which you can book shifts.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Social life is a very important part of my life and given the language barrier and cold temperatures half the time, it’s hard to manage.
You can permanently immigrate if you meet the minimum earning criteria and you have language skills.
I would not immigrate permanently.

Ingolstadt is an industrial city with a huge number of students.
Tips: The first few days here were tricky, that's obvious with a new country and a new language. Learning German is the first thing I'd recommend before coming here even though the course is in English.
The course work of my degree has undergone several changes starting WS25/26. The subjects included in the new coursework are incredibly helpful in all round development of vehicles.
Dislikes (Part time work): Ingolstadt is an industrial city with a huge number of students studying in two Universities. This results in almost all positions being filled at all times. Language is an important requirement for most.
Work is manageable as nobody is allowed to work past 20 hours a week during the study period.
The average payout is usually 13-15 an hour.

Strong academics with good industry exposure.
Tips: Students should understand the course structure. Most of the programme is quite technical so strong basics are important. The university location is very important because most working students/ internship are available in or near major cities. In this case, Ingolstadt is well located between Munich and Nuremberg, so many working students / Internship opportunities are available. Also check availability part-time jobs in the city. For technical course students, they must attend lectures regularly; otherwise, they may face difficulties in the exam and risk failing. Each subject allows only 3 attempts, and if a student cannot clear it within these attempts, they are removed from the course as per university rules. The university also offers language courses every semester. Students should take advantage of these opportunities, as they are free and very beneficial. My transition was mostly smooth. A major cultural difference I notice is that weekends are much quieter here and most shops are closed. I did not receive any scholarship. Overall, I am satisfied with my university, course and country. My course is more theory - focused, I would be more satisfied if it included more practical subjects.
Likes (Indian Food): Indian food is easily available in my city. There are around 15-20 restaurants nearby, along with many other options such as Italian. Turkish, German, and Asian cuisines, so food variety is not an issue. The typical price at most of restaurants is about 15-20 euros per person. Personally, I prefer cooking at home because it is more economical. I usually eat outside only occasionally, mainly on special days. Grocery easily available here, which makes home cooking convenient.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): The automotive market in Germany is currently going through a transition phase. Many automotive companies are reducing production in some areas and shifting certain operations to other countries. Because of these situations the job market has become more competitive compared to earlier years. I am studying International Automotive Engineering with a major in automotive safety and electronics. The opportunities after graduation are available, but they are becoming more niche and depend heavily on the automotive industry. Germany Offers 18 months jobs seeking visa after graduation. Many companies hire international graduates. I don't know the exact number of companies that formally sponsor work visas. Typical job roles offered in my field include functional safety, Testing and validation engineer, ADAS, System engineer and embedded systems. For fresher salary range is 45,000 to 60,000 euros per year.

Tips: You have to learn a lot of things on your own. Nobody will spoon feed you. There is no campus selection in any German university. All the professors are very supportive and knowledgeable. Start learning from the start. Never rely on online lectures only and always clear your doubts.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The professor are or were working with the top companies and have hand on experience in their field and have awareness of what is really needed to become successful engineer. They are very helpful and encouraging to students. Basic knowledge of the topic is expected of them.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): For the last few years, the job market in germany is not that great especially in the automotive sector. There is a lot of competition and less openings in the company. If you are sure that you want to come, then learning German is beneficial.

Best place for international students who are looking to do masters in Automotive.
Tips: I would recommend learning German eventhough course is in English which would highly help in fetching an internship and work student. No strict class timings, friendly atmosphere, etc, will keep you motivated to learn and engage practically rather than reading only books.
Likes (Post study jobs): Part time job available as work student in college and outside college you can also find. Salary package depends on the job you get. In restaurant if you work for 4-5 hours per hour, it would be around 10-15 euros. If it's a work student, you would get around 450 per month.
Dislikes (Indian Food): I would prefer mensa (college canteen) where you get Bavarian food (local German food), so that you can plan and attend your classes accordingly. Of course you have the option to go to Indian restaurants nearby but expensive during college days.
Nearby you will find different local restaurants and also Indian restaurants. But being a student, I would recommend mensa food which is good and you don't need to go outside the college as well.

Tips: You will find so many students from our country. I didn't avail scholarship but there is one scholarship available you need to check after getting admit there. Germany is a nice country and our university is very practically oriented and the course is also good and there is an updated course too.
Likes (Post study jobs): In Germany, you will not get sponsorship if you get a work visa. Only when you are going for a job then they will sponsor you or else you have to fund it yourself, from your salary. You will get so many roles in Germany because Germany doesn't want your degree; they need your skills. And salary is actually based on that basis and also your past experience.
Dislikes (Indian Food): We are Indian and we need spicy food but you will not get it in Ingolstadt so you will definitely miss it. And if you want to go to some Indian restaurant, it will cost you around 30 per person. Cook your food by yourself. So you will get our food test.
