University of Tennessee, Knoxville Review
Tips: The university is very good, but it is more famous for its PhD programs than its undergraduate programs. This is probably because the university is a close partner of Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). The tuition and fees are on the higher side for a public university, and most of the scholarships were available to PhD and bachelor's students in my department.
Likes (Student Life): The University of Tennessee, Knoxville has a great campus to explore, and a wide variety of events take place on campus. There are student clubs and communities for all types of interests. The events range from sporting events to Halloween and Food Festivals to International Coffee House once in 2 weeks to Diwali, Holi, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
Dislikes (Public transportation): The public transportation system is not so well connected with the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. There are a few bus routes that run from the campus, and while they are affordable, they are not very convenient. The university does run a few bus routes around campus for students who live nearby.

Amazing faculty. Totally worth it.
Tips: Rent's gone up almost twice in the last 4 years. So a cool tip to new students: move out to either South Knoxville or near Alcoa and come by car. You will need the car anyway so take the car first and don't spend on rent. Travel more, Knoxville is beautiful.
Likes (Quality of faculty): UT's faculty are great. I mostly know graduation students and most of them do their experiments on campus. All the high-teach cutting-edge instruments are available with the right faculty members (nearby ORNL is a plus). Some of the departments, especially the engineering ones are great.
Dislikes (Public transportation): Public transportation is worth it if you live ~4-5 miles from campus/downtown (but the rent's pretty high around that part). Anything beyond it takes forever. Also, the hill terrain makes bike computing problematic. Transportation is affordable but it costs time.

Financing intelligently is significant here.
Tips: I would like to mention one thing, which is pretty straightforward - if you are coming here as a Bachelors/Masters student without any scholarship, please make sure you have your financial plan ready for the necessary funds to cover your tuition fees + living expenses. Relying on campus jobs for living expenses is not reliable. Sure, you get some money, but it can help you cover your wants, not needs.
Likes (Student Life): There's always a lot of stuff that keeps happening on the campus. If you can manage your time effectively and prioritize what you like to do, you'll like your student life. There's the football season in the fall and other sports that happen in the Springs, Basketball being one of the most popular.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Knoxville does not have many options for Indian Food. It still developing, better options might come up in the future. For Non-Vegetarian, there are always options available. For Vegetarian, obviously not much. I prefer cooking 80% of the time, and doing meal prep. Cooking would be the best way to eat whatever you like at a minimal cost any day.

University overall is fine but depends on department to department
Tips: There is a whole cultural shift after moving here. It's totally different but in a good way. I was on scholarship but I was ready to spend it all as the living cost is high. I am fully satisfied with the university as it is one of the best in the world but being a student as well as TA workload is too much.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): Good cost of living, a nice and peaceful city. I like it here as people are really nice and helpful to each other. Big cities are also not far away and have good connectivity by road and by air. Also the weather is really nice as not too cold winters and not too hot summers.
Dislikes (Internships): Most professors don't want students to go to internships as most internships happen in the summer and professors want to spend that time in the lab. There are a lot of internship opportunities available relative to the field but getting a chance to grab those opportunities is low as your professor won't let you go for an internship.

A supportive and academically enriching experience.
Tips: Students should know that the college is academically rigorous but very supportive. Time management becomes extremely important because assignments, labs, and group projects can get intensive. It's also helpful to be prepared for a collaborative learning environment where participation is expected. Having clarity about your programme requirements before joining will make the transition much smoother.

Strict academically but with a fun and happy campus life.
Tips: This is a very academically strict university with good campus life. I have learned how to manage my day and balance work and study together. Living away from family, I'm learning to do things on my own. You can also try for scholarship based on your academic performance. We have a safety shuttle that runs from 8 pm to 2 am. There are also stampede buses that run from 6 am to 2 am, and they come every 10-20 minutes. Every Saturday, there's a shopping shuttle that takes us to all the retail and food stores so we can buy all the basic necessities. Last, there's also the subway, which takes us downtown in a few minutes. Overall, I am highly satisfied with my experiences.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Post study jobs are based on individual persons' performance. You should attend classes and perform well so you can try to land positions as a teaching assistant or grader, which looks good on your resume. These positions might help you get an internship that you can later convert into a full-time position.

Great university for international students especially for computer science.
Tips: I didn't experience a great cultural shift at this university, and I found like-minded people in my class. The professors are very nice and approachable, and they teach the course material very well. The course structure is good, and the teaching staff is diverse in nationality. Most of the teaching and course structure is very practical, which I really appreciate. However, I didn't get any scholarship because my CGPA was not very good. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the university.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): SUNY Buffalo State has a good reputation, which makes it easier to get a job after graduation. This makes it easier to get permanent immigration options. However, I'm not planning to immigrate to this country. If I get a chance, I might consider moving here.

SUNY Buffalo is an amazing college with advanced facilities.
Tips: Before joining SUNY Buffalo, students should research the professor and their courses. They should also research what the course curriculum and the course content will be. Students should also ask if they will get an internship after their third year at SUNY Buffalo, and it's important to look into the rankings of the school and the class sizes to get an idea of whether or not SUNY Buffalo is a good fit for them. The University of Buffalo is a great school. It has a strong faculty and great professors. They can really give you an enhanced education in your field. The school does a good job of offering a very diverse group of extracurricular activities that are great for learning new things and meeting people. The dining hall food is also really good for college dining.
Dislikes (Internships): SUNY Buffalo has strong connections with industries. which provides students with hands-on experience and practical learning skills, and they can gain more knowledge about their field. By gaining hands-on training through interships students can be more expertise in their field.
