Been a learning journey.
Tips: My programme in particular is best suited for a more extensive and research oriented curriculum. University life has been helpful for me in terms of learning and discipline, exploration and finding my footing. Getting a part time job on campus is hard work but quite consistent and can be mentioned in your CVs as well.

Constant hard work is expected.
Tips: My first impression about studying here was that this is a very well connected school and students are given a lot of liberty and freedom in terms of academics and lifestyle and there is a sense of openness. Getting admission was an extensive process. I made my decision at the very end but so far it has been good. The campus is very multicultural and the Indian community is strong as well.

A diverse and enriching experience.
Tips: I've transitioned a lot personally and professionally. I'm very happy with all the good and bad experiences in my personal and academic life. The university offers strong academic support, a diverse student community, and opportunities for personal and professional growth. I received a scholarship of 15%.
Likes (Student Life): It's multicultural and vibrant, offering opportunities to connect and grow beyond academics. There are many student clubs and communities to choose from, allowing you to align with or discover your interests. I was involved in the Culture Cafe, as I enjoyed meeting and getting to know people from diverse backgrounds.
Dislikes (Indian Food): The food isn't authentic, and the variety is limited to a few places. I'm not used to eating out, so I prefer cooking for myself most of the time. However, I do buy food from outside for convenience, especially during exam time and the final week of university.

Tips: This degree is ideal if you are into research and application. The classes are small and discussion based where you can share your opinion and earn extra credit by participating in discussions and research. Some of our classes even involved field trips and excursions, which were a lotta fun. The faculty is very supportive and encourages us to aim higher. I would say I am very satisfied so far.

Tips: The people are warm but opinionated. They are more independent, and you'll have to work with their customs, although there are plenty of Indians as well. Getting a job has become much harder here than it used to be, and classes are quite rigorous as well. Maintain a work-life balance as much as you can.
Likes (Public transportation): Public transport is very feasible and well-connected throughout. You will have to learn how to hail a bus and figure out its routes, so get a few days to get used to it. Also, there are plenty of student discounts for travel and other necessities as well.

The place is great, people are warm, but the job market is really messy right now.
Tips: I have had a mixed response so far. The place is great, people are warm, but the job market is really messy right now. There is a clear preference for citizens when it comes to applications for jobs and assignments are made in a form to test your ability and application as opposed to solely grades. Every term has offered something new, and it's been a learning process so far.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Our professors are very approachable and happy to hear you out, which is something I really liked about studying here. It takes a while to understand certain methodologies and how plagiarism and academic writing work, but the faculty, in my case, have been very patient.

You'll have to adjust quickly, although the faculty is supportive and understanding, which was a relief. Jobs are hard to find. Not many companies offer sponsor visas.
Tips: It's easy to get acclimated here. Scholarship is available which helps a lot. You can apply for one at any time. For architecture majors, the courses are relevant, but there's no industry experience, and some are outdated. Its worth it coming here but the university should help you find a placement.
Likes (Safety): The campus is well-connected, and there are apps to help students feel safe on campus. Campus security does the grounds all the time and is helpful. I didn’t have a bad experience, safety-wise. Of course, you should be careful because you never know who is racist.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Not many companies offer sponsor visas. Jobs are hard to find. They prefer locals over immigrants. Salaries vary depending on your experience. Great university with good part-time opportunities.
Tips: Students should try and structure their courses early on. The trimester pattern at UNSW is a bit fast-paced, meaning assignments start from the first two weeks itself and the courses themselves are moderate to difficult. It is overall challenging but also manageable if you come prepared. I got a 15% scholarship, and it is granted to international students. (International Student Award). UNSW is a great option for CSE and Engineering courses. Tech-based courses are pretty advanced as well. It is very good for aspiring developers.
Likes (Part time work): The average pay is 24-30 AUD per hour, it is not too difficult to find a part-time job and the job itself are good. It takes time to learn how to manage jobs and studies, but with practice should be good. Casual work is great as well as more flexibility on the shifts you take and can accommodate studies easier.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Indian food is available, but in fewer options in the main city area for vegetarian Indian food. If you go to Harris Park (little India) you will find very good Indian food. I prefer cooking my meals, but sometimes with hectic schedules, it is tough to manage that throughout the day. I recommend meal prepping 2-3 days of the week for convenience.

It's very easy to find both accommodation and transportation throughout the city, as it's a metropolitan area. There's also a lot more to explore here than in a smaller city, and the surrounding areas are very close to the airport, which I think would be a good choice.

Indian immigrants at UoN- word hard, play hard
Tips: There was definitely a huge culture shock. The UK is a very individualistic society so everyone minds their own business but it's also harder to find people that will help you. Everything is expensive so take all the free stuff from events/fair that you can. Especially stationary. If you're a vegetarian, avoid eating at restaurants because they charge way too much for not-so-great food.
Likes (Student Life): UoN has a wide array of clubs and communities that sometimes offer tasters or free events. There are annual fair that showcase all the various clubs. There's usually a few to join these clubs. The sports clubs are the most expensive. ResX also organizes many fun (and free) activities in student accommodation.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Job roles related to economics, finance and accounting are more likely to be sponsored. For psychology, there are very scarce options. Since sponsorship is required to immigrants, its alot harder to land roles which offer sponsorship. The NHS has the most sought after job opportunities so it's worth a shot.

Cancer Immunology and Biotechnology MSc - Batch of 2025

This 1 year has shaped me well as a person.
Tips: Honestly, I’m just so happy I managed to wrap up my MSc at such a solid university. The people you meet are actually really outgoing and kind which makes settling in way easier. My favorite part had to be the campus in April—it’s honestly gorgeous when the tulips and cherry blossoms start blooming everywhere. There is so much to see across the UK if you can actually find the time (and get lucky with the weather). If you're into nature, you’ve absolutely got to go for a trek in the Peak District; it's easily one of the highlights of the whole experience.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculty for the MSc in Cancer Immunology and Biotechnology is impressive and focused on providing a high-quality learning experience with a student-centric approach. The assessment is majorly focused on exams rather than coursework. The faculty is diverse in terms of nationality and yet very inclusive.

A life-changing experience with growth, challenges and great memories.
Tips: Moving to the UK was a massive shock to the system at first—I’m not going to lie, the weather and the food were a total 180 from what I was used to back home. It felt pretty overwhelming in those first few weeks, but looking back, that whole struggle was probably the best part of the trip. It really forced me to grow up and learn how to handle things on my own. I didn't actually go for any scholarships myself, but I know the uni has a bunch of them for international students. You’ve just got to be on top of it and apply early to help with the costs. Academically the course was great. It’s not just memorizing stuff they really push you to think for yourself. Plus the people you meet from all over the place just make the whole experience so much better. I’m honestly so glad I did it—it changed me a lot and I’d give anything to go back and do that whole phase over again.
Likes (Public transportation): I rated public transport as five because of the excellent connectivity, convenience, and reliability. The campus is very well connected to the city through frequent bus services. The university Hopper bus, which is basically free, can be used for traveling in between campus.
Dislikes (Internships): I went with a 3 for internships because, honestly, the options were just spread too thin and the competition was brutal. The uni did have some cool research assistant spots at the different law centers—like commercial and criminal law—which were exactly what I was looking for. I actually applied and made it to the interview stage but it was just so cutthroat. Even though the roles themselves were solid and actually meant something there just weren't enough of them to go around. It would’ve been a way better experience if they had a broader range of placements available.

Academically focused, with staff support in all areas of your life and no judgment from professors.
Tips: Transition was very different; it's difficult as well. Not only do we deal with academic transition but also cultural transition, a new social circle, and a new lifestyle as well. There are a couple of cultural shifts that I've experienced - the please, thank you etiquette, respecting others' time and boundaries, and friendships in the UK take longer to develop with localities. I'm satisfied with my course; it challenged me academically would appreciate more case studies rather than exams. However, except for the weather its given me opportunities and challenges to grow myself personally and professionally.
Likes (Safety): Since Nottingham is heavily based as a student city, it has a lively and well-connected environment throughout the year. Public transport such as buses and trams is generally considered safe at night as many students travel late after classes, library sessions or social settings.

Tips: If you're a psychology student, I would recommend trying out for the BPS-accredited courses; you can just check online if it's possible for your undergrad degree to get accredited. There were issues regarding faculty in 2025 which led to delays in grading.
Likes (Indian Food): Lot of great restaurants in Nottingham for Indian food. Kottaram, Cochin Fort, and biryani places. The prices are better when you go with other people and split the price. Amazing and supportive university.
Tips: There wasn't any such major cultural shift; there were small here and there compromises and adjustments which everyone has to do. I wasn't on any scholarships. The major reason for me to choose the UK over other countries was the duration of the degree and this course wasn't available in other countries, so I knew this was the best shot.
Likes (Public transportation): So my university had 3 to 4 campuses which were pretty far from each other and there were on-campus buses provided by the university, free of cost so I personally found that a really nice means of transport on campus. And for the city as well, it has buses and trams to go around so a lot of options.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): So lately there have been a lot of changes in the permanent settlement options for immigrants, like proposed changes, and if they come into existence then it will be tough to settled permanent. After living there for a year, I would like to settle.

Tips: There were good restaurants and cafes available on campus and off campus. Most of them even offered student discounts and were all budget-friendly. However if you're really looking to save money, eating healthy home-cooked meals is the best. Big cultural shift, quieter life, high independence, discussion-led learning. Transition was tough but grounding. I applied for scholarships but didn't receive one. Partially satisfied: strong academics, challenging systems, slow administration.
Dislikes (Internships): Internship options in my field were very limited, and most were not closely aligned. Guidance on finding and applying for the internships was surface level with minimal structured support making the process largely self-driven for international students.

There are a lot of part-time jobs available some with good income.
Tips: It might be a little more overwhelming for international students after some time of coming to the university mostly because of the distance and the unfamiliarity and the academic stress. But when you find the right people, when you start to jell with your peers, when you get comfortable with the studies, and find warmth in the could weather outside, it won't be less than a dream.
Likes (Value for money): It is a little bit on the expensive side, not the tuition but the living cost, but wonderful properties and the university in itself is a world of its own so if you put in the effort and are passionate, it is all worth it. The cost of living can also be mellowed down if you are open to share room or a house with a bigger number of people like 5-6.
Dislikes (Part time work): There are a lot of part-time jobs available some with good income and some with average income. But most of them get filled out at the start of the academic session so be prepared to enter this aspect of your life as soon as possible. There will be roles available throughout your time out; just remember to be proactive but not overwork yourself.

Once in a lifetime experience.
Tips: The weather runs on extremes. Seasonal depression during winter is real, it can affect you mentally and you need to be prepared to cope with it. Here, vegetarian food could include eggs, so be careful. I didn't get any scholarship but I have friends who did get scholarships so you can always try. I was quite satisfied with my university because the campus was breathtaking, the professors were really good and supportive. There are a lot of clubs that you can be a part of.
Likes (Public transportation): The public transportation is extremely efficient. If you take a bus pass or tram pass in the beginning for the entire year traveling becomes very convenient and cost effective. The city is very well connected. The buses and trams are spacious, clean and regular.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): My chances for permanent settlement are not great because of the recent changes in the country's immigration policy. Even the cost for the 2-year graduate visa has increased to 3000 pounds. The situation is quite volatile. I would not permanently immigrate to this country.

Easily accessible and approachable faculty.
Tips: First things first, be prepared for the worst. Most of us have grown up pampered and under the shelter of our parents. Initial days will be tough but as and when time passes, you grow and see a newer version of yourself. Balancing household, part time work and academic may feel overwhelming at first but it eventually becomes a rewarding and enjoyable journey. I did receive a scholarship of 8580 approximately 9 lakhs. The business school awards scholarships based on your experience, profile, projects and most importantly, how effectively you answer the scholarship questionnaire. Together, these factors determine the level of scholarship or you can percentage. I receive 35% scholarship on my degree tuition fees. I’m very satisfied with my course and the degree disciplines. I could have done better in the first semester but as I said initially everything was overwhelming so yeah nevertheless it has been a wonderful learning experience for me.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Easily approachable through email, making sure you email during working hours. Everyone is given an equal chance in their group work and individual assignments that sets us apart from the crowd. Most importantly, the assignments are designed in such a way that you get a clear understanding of what is the main goal of this chapter or subject in real life industry applications.
Dislikes (Safety): Students have a separate walking area on the road that’s the yellow light walking zone mostly for students road safety. Every shop is within walking distance so no long travel or walking routes alone. Nothing as such for the safety part. I have never experienced anything unsafe. Just that in public areas and make sure you don’t use headphones or earbuds while walking, as phone snatching or pickpocketing might happen which is rare but can happen if you're careless.

Great university with a lot of clubs, activities and events.
Tips: I personally did find the cultural shift as drastic as I expected. It was primarily the weather that took some getting used to. I did avail a scholarship from the University for South Asain Students which amounted to 5,000 pounds and this was subtracted from my University fee. All the information is available on the University website and it was quite an easy application process. I am extremely satisfied with my course, the country I chose and the University.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Each staff member is a personal tutor as well and they have office hours on particular days of the week where a student may approach them. To solve any doubts. I personally found the tutorial set up unique compared to the teaching back home. It is a group of 5-7 students who sit around a table and discuss the topic just been taught. This is especially helpful as it is quite easy to feel lost in a 300+ student lecture theatre. I personally found the faculty quite diverse. A lot of my professors were themselves from different countries bringing a unique legal perspective to their teaching which is important for a well rounded education.
Dislikes (Value for money): There is a career service available during your course and still remains after you graduate. It is especially helpful for an international navigating the UK market and understanding what skills, experience etc. You would need to apply for an internship. There is guided help not just from the career service but also from tutors and professors. Another point would be that the teaching has been split into lectures and tutorials. The latter gives you more interaction with your professors and the ability to learn the same material in a smaller setting which works wonders. The staff is extremely approachable and are constantly trying to make international students feel at home. From the get go, an international meet and greet is set up, your tutor contacts you for a meeting just to see how you are settling in and other inclusive activities. There are also a bunch of student led and run societies for any interest you can think of. Along with an abundance of part time roles within the University that help you earn while studying.

Continuous changes in the rules and regulations make the immigration process difficult.
Tips: Cultural shift wasn't any different from any other UK cities. The welcoming local community and vibrant student communities made transition much easier. I was funded with a scholarship for academic excellence which made a huge impact and reduced the financial loads.
Likes (Value for money): Honestly, the reputation of the university and the respect we graduates get for studying in here makes each penny spent worthy. There are a lot of opportunities and benefits of scholarships and support funds available for students with academic excellence.

There are lots of student clubs at the university that are quite interesting.
Tips: There was a cultural shift, but UK doesn’t make you feel like that because of the diverse community. You won’t miss out on anything here. Unfortunately, I couldn’t avail any scholarship because I applied late. A lot of my friends did get scholarships up to 100%.
Likes (Student Life): There are a lot of Indian friends you make, so it makes you feel like you’re right at home. I recommend taking student accommodation for this reason. It can be pretty great, in my experience. Plus, there are lots of clubs at the university that are quite interesting. If you’re a cricket fan, you can even play for the university’s team, just like I did.
Dislikes (Quality of faculty): The teaching faculty consists of more European teachers, and the faculty is accessible upon appointment and quite helpful. I would also say that the coursework is a real asset. When you do that coursework, you grasp all the important concepts, and they are quite helpful during interviews.

The course is very well designed from point of practical skills and knowledge.
Tips: Prepare well for time management and burnout. Network with all types of people for best results. The course is very well designed from point of practical skills and knowledge. A huge amount of self-study is required to be informed for the growth in the course. The internship structure isn't really a thing, and I have to volunteer for internships to gain experience. While my course has active researchers as teachers and covers various families with case studies, the practice aspect could be better. At the Jubilee campus, the cultural events and student bodies work well to ensure that student life is energised and balanced. The Nottingham environment makes for a great experience, and the staff is always around and kind. Every element needed for well-being is available on the campuses.

Great academic exposure and supportive environment for growth.
Tips: Before joining the UoN, I suggest students research their course structure, living expenses, and academic expectations. It's also helpful to connect with current students for firsthand insights. Transitioning to life here is quite challenging and exciting at the same time. From academic style to social interactions, it is a big cultural shift. The classroom environment encourages critical thinking and independent learning, which was very different from my undergraduate experience. Adjusting to the UK's extreme & unpredictable weather and food also took enough time. I didn't avail of any scholarships, but the university offers several merit & need-based options. Many scholarships are listed on the university website, and applying early with a strong personal statement and a good academic record can improve one's chances.

A journey of growth and discovery at UoN.
Tips: My study at Nottingham has turned me into a different person with a lot of skills that I lacked before. I am now more confident. I didn’t receive a scholarship, but my course was totally worth every penny I paid. There are a lot of scholarships available, so make sure to apply for them beforehand so you will benefit. My campus was very beautiful and there are a lot of facilities and sport clubs to indulge in to learn new skills. Overall, I am very much satisfied with my course and the UK has become my second home.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculty is very supportive and always ready to help. The teaching methods include fun games and activities that make it easy to understand concepts. It's a multicultural experience, which will help you grow and learn new skills. You are assigned with a personal tutor who will help you with all your problems. The professors feel like family and are very sweet.
Dislikes (Safety): Some parts of the city were not safe to go alone, especially at night. There were a lot of incidents of abuse reported. In the campus, you are safe, but if you are walking alone outside the campus, make sure to be in groups. Don't carry too much cash.

A worthy experience, academically rewarding and personally insightful.
Tips: While the city centre is busy, the area around the university is quiet, especially compared to India. Also, choose your accommodation carefully because the walk might be longer than expected. The Masters program is short and intensive, so you might feel like you have too much to cover in a short time. The faculty is very knowledgeable and you can get a thorough insight into your paper. Overall, I am quite satisfied with the country, course and university.

Home away from home, just colder.
Tips: The cultural shift was less than expected, but I am an adaptable person so I was fine. I didn't receive any scholarships unfortunately because I applied through the clearing. The course is quite nice, but I wish the country wasn't as cold as it is during the winter.
Likes (Public transportation): Public transportation is really good and easy to use. The campus is well connected with the rest of the city and it is easy to get buses to and from the University as well as to your accommodation. Compared to other cities, public transportation is relatively cheap.
Dislikes (Value for money): It is quite expensive compared to other universities in the country and also compared to other degrees. It is thrice as expensive for international students compared to home students for this specific course, meanwhile, for other courses it's only twice as expensive.

University of Nottingham- Review
Tips: Make a list of everything you need. Plan out your weekly expenses. Stop covering GBP to INR while buying because it would trouble you and would make you conscious of what you are spending. In reality, you cannot help it. These are the basic things you need. Please try to make sure you study more about the course before applying and look at the disadvantage and advantage as well. Don't get swept up by the beauty of the country.
Likes (Public transportation): Public transport is always available and easily accessible at any time of the day or night. It's 2 pounds per person but if you buy a group ticket with one or two people, it lessens your expenses and it's better to buy on the app because the ticket would remain for 24 hours.
Dislikes (Internships): Not many internship opportunities during the course. The course does not offer you opportunities per se. It does offer some project-based opportunities though which adds up on your CV but overall there are no hospital-based internships or case studies.

Extra ordinarily Rewarding
Tips: Some of the things students should be informed of are that the education system is quite different compared to India's; they prioritize self-study. There is a very good balance between academics and extracurricular activities, so do take part in all the events that are conducted. I did not apply for any scholarships. My overall experience living abroad was definitely helpful, and it was an amazing experience.
Likes (Public transportation): Getting around Nottingham is mostly a breeze and doesn't break the bank, mostly because the NCT buses and the NET tram do decent student discounts. Plus, the uni runs that free Hopper bus between University Park and Jubilee, which saves you a ton of cash. My only massive gripe is how hit-or-miss the scheduling can be. The live tracking apps are a total nightmare sometimes—buses will literally just get ghosted or cancelled with zero warning on the electronic boards, leaving you stuck at the stop guessing if one's even coming. It’s a great, well-connected system overall, they just really need to sort out their real-time updates.
Dislikes (Internships): We didn’t have any particular guidance on applying to specific internships; the availability of internships for international students was also quite scarce. So I would not really say that the university was very helpful with helping us find good opportunities.
