excellent education and international student experience at tum.
Tips: Students should carefully check the admission and scholarship deadlines in advance, as they can be different and require separate applications. Moving to Germany was a smooth but initially challenging cultural transition, and TUM provides a diverse international environment. Learn about the sports clubs and student clubs, which will help a lot in personal and professional life. Study and enjoy your life.
Likes (Post study jobs): TUM offers a vibrant and international campus experience. I spend my time attending lectures, working on projects and research, interacting with students, and participating in some sports activities with ZHS. TUM regularly organizes cultural, technical, and social events by student organizations/clubs. It has very good student clubs where many projects are developed, it's a great place to learn with interdisciplinary groups.
Dislikes (Part time work): Because the professors and academic staff are highly knowledgeable, approachable, and supportive. They are accessible for discussions and provide praticak research oriented teaching. The faculty is also internationally diverse, they are always ready to help with personal doubts and personal projects as well.

Challenging Transition, but a rewarding experience
Tips: Students should be prepared for a significant cultural and academic transition, especially if they are coming from outside Germany. In my experience, the change was quite noticeable because life here is very structured and organized. At times, particularly with the uncertain economic situation and the 6000 euro tuition fee, I did question whether coming to Germany was the right decision. I was fortunate to receive a tuition fee waiver for my final two semesters. Academically, I am very satisfied with the power engineering program. It is challenging, but the course content genuinely reflects what the name suggests and provides a strong focus on power and energy engineering.
Likes (Part time work): On campus, part-time jobs are limited, but still there any a handful of openings. The best part is the location. Munich and in and around the neighboring districts, there are a lot of industries and also part-time openings as well. Most of the students tend to get a permanent job in the same place where they did their part-time/werkstudent jobs (if you perform well). Since Munich is a big city, you can always rely on odd jobs. Managing both work and studies is a bit hard. Especially the course - I find it extremely hard. So you need to invest more time in your studies. SO there is a trade-off between the hours to work average payout if the work is an odd job: 14 euros per hour. An internship or a working student will get you somewhere between 18 and 22.
Dislikes (Value for money): International students have fees of 6000. Unless you are extremely talented and your profile aligns with power engineering, along with a strong academic interest in pursuing power engineering (it's a vast area but still a niche). But the course is intense.

A lot of opportunities so the competition.
Tips: You have to be flexible to align with a new culture, and balancing your academics and part-time job is not easy. Nowadays, finding part times are also getting difficult, but with a consistent mindset, you can earn one. Indeed, Xing and similar websites/apps can be very helpful in finding jobs.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculty are highly educated and talented and would help us with everything. They share their intellectual property and ideas with us and treat us without any discrimination. Quality faculty can help us academically, but getting a job after the course, they can’t do anything.
Dislikes (Internships): There are a lot of internship opportunities, but getting one is highly competitive, and you have to apply for a lot to get into one. Nowadays, the competition is among Indian students because we have a minimum of bachelor's degrees, English knowledge, and a good IT background, which makes us a good choice for companies, but there are a lot!!

Pursuing a Master's in Microelectronics and Chip Design at TU MUNICH
Tips: Finding permanent accommodation can be tough around here in Munich. People are polite, but interacting into the community takes a semester or two. The course and the university feel great overall. Germany is quite different from India and takes time to settle in and get used to.
Likes (Indian Food): The number of Indian, Asian, and Italian restaurants are plenty in all of Munich, and they cost 5 to 20 Euros each. Should you enjoy dining out as opposed to cooking, then the cost will be between 8 and 20 or 30 Euros depending on the type of food. You will also find some Asian, Indian, and African shops; you do not have to pack dry masalas and culinary spices since you will find most of them here.
Dislikes (Value for money): Yes, I think a university chip tape-out opportunity is rare, and pursuing advanced subjects with industry experts is also a strong value-add. The material updates every year, so you're almost always learning the latest technology.

Overall the academics and professors are really good.
Tips: It was pretty standard for me, as I had done my Bachelor's in Germany as well. No scholarships were needed, as I was exempt from the tuition fees because I had completed my Bachelor's in Germany. Yes, I am pretty satisfied with the university academically, the topics covered are really relevant and give you the best shot at expanding the frontier and conducting further research.
Likes (Indian Food): Mostly cook on my own, and in Munich you can find all kinds of restaurants. The average price would be around 15-20 euros. My favourite places personally are the ones near the Isartor station (connected by the S-Bahn). One can find a lot of great places to eat there.
Dislikes (Student Life): We have a wide variety of clubs/communities for a lot of varied interests. The coursework is pretty good, but it can get a bit hectic towards the end of the semester. Student life is great in Munich, there are a lot of good sightseeing spots at the intersection of southern Munich, Austria, and Switzerland. The best part about the Master's is that there are no compulsory modules, we can freely customise the courses according to one's interests.
