Korean SAT Exam
The College Scholastic Ability Test is a scholastic aptitude test. It is a screening test conducted by the Korean universities to select the right candidates for their esteemed courses. The test is abbreviated as CSAT, Korean SAT and Suneung in Korean.
Abbreviated as CSAT or Suneung, College Scholastic Ability Test the test is administered by the Korea Institute of Curriculum and Evaluation or KICE on the third Thursday of November. To distinguish this exam from the globally established and pretty well known SAT exam, the CSAT exam is referred to as Korean SAT exam by some people.Â
CSAT is considered for the regular admission round of Korean universities. The exam is considered to hold so much value that regular everyday operations are halted on the exam day in Korea; even the stock markets open late in the country. This exam is definitely considered one of the most important exams in Korea and the university admissions and future jobs of the students depend on it.Â

What is Korean SAT Exam?
Korean SAT or CSAT is one of the most important and toughest exams in Korea. It’s a national standardised test that is taken by students for admission to universities and colleges in Korea. Here are the exam’s highlights-
- The exam is taken by high school graduates who are seeking admissions for higher education in Korea.
- The exam is considered for various Korean universities admissions, scholarships and job placements.Â
- The exam is conducted in 6 different subjects, that are - English, Maths, Korean language, Korean history, a second foreign language and a subject from Natural science/Social science/Vocational education.Â

Korean SAT English PaperÂ
The English section in the Korean SAT exam tests the test takers’ reading comprehension, vocabulary and grammatical fluency. The test consists of reading and listening (dictation) sections spread across Q18 to 45 and Q1 to 17 respectively. The dictation section comes with basic conversations like the shopping done in Euro, Korean Won, etc. while the reading questions are involved on topics like biographies, philanthropy, grammar, graphs, etc.Â
Korean SAT Maths Paper
Students taking the Maths paper of Korean SAT are required to take Maths I and Maths II papers along with one of the following electives - calculus, statistics and geometry or probability. Students generally choose the elective calculus with Natural Sciences the most.Â
Korean SAT History Paper
The History paper of the Korean SAT exam consists of a total of 20 questions; out of which 10 questions are on Ancient, Medieval and Joseon Dynasty and the next 10 are on Korean Independence Movement, the decolonisation of Korea by Japan, Pacific War, World War II and more.Â
Korean SAT Exam Dates 2025-26
The Korean SAT or CSAT exam was held on November 14 this year. Along with this, the deadline to raise objections to questions and answers also ended on Nov 17, 2025. Test takers can now expect to receive their results on 05 Dec 2025. students must note that while they wait for their CSAT results, the universities in Korea are operating regularly. So, it's important to take a quick decision after receiving the Korean SAT result as the seats may fill out fast.Â
What's Next after the Korean SAT?
While most universities consider the Korean SAT exam as the sole screening criterion for domestic and international applications. Some top universities in Korea go a step beyond that in screening applications. Universities like the Yonsei University, Sungkyunkwan University, Dongkuk University and Seogang University also conducted an essay test the next day after the CSAT exam. While other notable universities are also said to be conducting interviews of the prospective students.Â

Yes, Indian students can study at SNU Korea as long as they are applying as a freshman and not as transfer students. Generally SNU does not accept credits achieved from other higher education institutes. Therefore, transfer students from Indian universities may not get through the application round, let alone the screening round.
