The College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) or Suneung Exam in South Korea is also known as the Korean SAT exam. It is an admission test conducted by the Korean universities to select the right candidates for their esteemed courses. Abbreviated as CSAT, the College Scholastic Ability Test, is administered by the Korea Institute of Curriculum and Evaluation (KICE). What is Korean SAT Exam?
Korean CSAT is the admission test in South Korea - for admissions of both domestic and foreign applicants. It is one of the most important and toughest exams in South Korea. It’s a standardised national-level test that is taken by students for getting selected by the top universities and colleges in South Korea, including the SKY universities - which are believed to help students earn some of the highest paying jobs in the world.

Korean SAT Exam Syllabus

English Paper
The English section in the Korean SAT exam tests the test takers’ reading comprehension, vocabulary and grammatical fluency. The dictation section comes with basic conversations like the shopping done in Euro, Korean Won, etc. while the reading questions are involved on topics like biographies, philanthropy, grammar, graphs, etc.
Korean SAT Maths Paper
Students taking the Maths paper of Korean SAT are required to take Maths I and Maths II papers along with one of the following electives - calculus, statistics and geometry or probability. Students generally choose the elective calculus with Natural Sciences the most.
Korean SAT History Paper
The History paper of the Korean SAT exam consists of a total of 20 questions; out of which 10 questions are on Ancient, Medieval and Joseon Dynasty and the next 10 are on Korean Independence Movement, the decolonisation of Korea by Japan, Pacific War, World War II and more.
Korean SAT Exam Dates 2026
The Korean SAT or CSAT exam was held on November 14 this year. Along with this, the deadline to raise objections to questions and answers also ended on Nov 19, 2026. Test takers can now expect to receive their results on 05 Dec 2026. Students must note that while they wait for their CSAT results, the universities keep operating on a regular basis. So, they must take a quick decision after receiving the result for their Korean SAT exam - as the seats of their preferred course may fill out fast.
What's Next after the Korean SAT?
While most universities consider the Korean SAT exam as the sole screening criterion for domestic and international applications. Some top universities in Korea go a step beyond that in screening applications. Universities like the Yonsei University, Sungkyunkwan University, Dongkuk University and Seogang University also conducted an essay test the next day after the CSAT exam. While other notable universities are also said to be conducting interviews of the prospective students.
