Planning to study aborad? Every college requires that you fulfill certain criteria before you even apply for its MBA program. It is always good to know about the specific requirements beforehand and prepare for them early on, as it will save your time.
- Bachelor's Degree – Every college will require you to have a bachelor's degree before you enter the program. Most MBA programs do not require a specific undergraduate major. In fact, many programs prefer some diversity in that regard. Although, a specific degree may not be specified, a bachelor's degree in business can be helpful when prerequisite courses are required.
- Admission Test – The Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) is the most common admission exam. A significant number of schools now allow you to use the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) test. Careful and devoted preparation will be required to get an above average score. It is important to put enough time into preparing properly for any MBA entrance exam.
- Prerequisite Courses – Some programs require that you complete some of the specified courses before you start. MBA prerequisites help you enter your program with a "common body" of business knowledge. Many schools require various forms of math, economics, financial economics, basic marketing, and statistics as prerequisite courses. You usually must have a passing grade of C- or higher in the course.
- Work Experience – Many MBA programs recommend that you have a certain number of years of work experience. This is stated as post-college, full-time work experience. In general, your experience should involve handling increasing responsibility or be managerial in nature. Even when work experience is not a requirement, you are still competing with other applicants based on this requirement. So it is important to take up managerial roles during your work years.
