ABS roots back to 1947, when Aston University's Technical School created a Department of Industrial Administration. In 1964, the Graduate Centre of Management Studies was founded as a joint venture with the University of Birmingham. In 1979, the school awarded its first MBAs and in 1987, it acquired its now-known name - Aston Business School.
In 1999, the business school was accredited by EQUIS. Later, it was accredited by AMBA and AACSB in 2000 and 2003, respectively.
