Graduate assistantship is assigned by the graduate programme director through each graduate programme during the admission process. The specific positions are not assigned until the beginning of each semester. International students without a social security number are refrained from the assistantship during the first semester.
For international students to receive the benefits of the scholarship offered by RISD College, students need to participate in the National YoungArts Foundation Competition which comprises two awards of at least $10,000 (INR 835,115). Two awards of a minimum $10,000 are also made to participants in the Scholastic Art & Writing Award in which international students can participate.
