- The programme is designed primarily for those who have a background in physical sciences or technology (e.g. engineering, physics, chemistry, mathematics, computer sciences). Candidates with other backgrounds can only be considered if they have strong analytical and numerical skills.

The normal intake is primarily of students who have achieved a UK First Class Honours Degree or the international equivalent.

- Bachelor of Arts / Science / Commerce (3-4 years) from a well-ranked institution
- Bachelor of Vocation (when awarded from 2017 onwards) from a well-ranked institution
- Bachelor (Hons) degree from Ashoka University
- With 73% or CGPA 7.7/10 or CGPA 5.5/7 (National Law School of India University) or CGPA 6.5/8 (O.P.Jindal Global University or GPA 3.8/4 (Ashoka only)
