History
Hertfordshire University was founded in 1952 as a Technical College. In 1969, Hatfield College of Technology was designated as Hatfield Polytechnic. In 1992, the British government granted university status to Hatfield Polytechnic and it was renamed the University of Hertfordshire. In 2004, the University of Hertfordshire opened three research institutes; Health and Human Sciences, Sciences and Technology and Social Sciences Arts and Humanities.
