Tips: The culture of Colorado is extremely immersive even though it takes a while to settle in so I would recommend one to arrive on campus before the orientation so they can truly understand what is needed and what to expect. As an undergrad, your SAT scores can determine whether you get in or not but once you've arrived, you are expected to contribute to society in non-academic ways as well which makes this truly a one-of-a-kind experience. The faculty are helpful and understanding so feel free to reach out to them in case of any queries or doubts. Also, try to contribute in classes and be creative. Tips: The biggest issue here, at least in my case, was the limited options for housing and accommodation, especially on campus. It is crucial to find an ideal form of housing near campus, and it may not be the best idea to opt for an off-campus option through the internet as there has been a rise in scams. The classes are engaging, and participation is a must. Although there are part-time work options available, and ideally, it is recommended to have some kind of part-time occupation to meet the expenses here, the availability of work is limited and time-consuming, which is not a feasible option if you have a challenging major or programme. Tips: The best part of staying here is easily the student life. The faculty is cooperative and will guide you with your classes and assignments. It’s a good university but it is very difficult to find part time and internship.
Tips: You will need to hustle a lot for internships and part-time as there are many international students and foreigners and it's quite competitive. I recommend starting searching for it as soon as you come to the university and from the first day of your classes only. The country and the university are quite safe because of the continuous patrolling and security presence. There are security guards at the train station and emergency security guards on campus, which helps students feel safe and surrounded by people.
Dislikes (Part time work): There are very few part-time jobs available, and students are quite competitive. Even internships are hard to come by. If you don't get an internship, you might have to pay extra for summer classes.

Tips: I have started interacting with people from diverse backgrounds. This has made me more confident. People here enjoy privacy and usually like to be left alone. You need to maintain basic etiquette in public spaces. You need to follow rules all the time. I am getting a stipend for the role of teaching assistant. I got the role by contacting my graduate advisor. I am satisfied with the course and university because of the personalized attention that professors give me. They help you to really learn and become successful.
Likes (Indian Food): There are Mexican, Indian, Chinese, and Thai joints almost everywhere. Downtown Denver has many fast-food chains as well. I cook on weekdays. i.e outside once a week. The cost of per meal outside for one person is around $10 to $20. You also get a variety of food stores within the campus.
Dislikes (Value for money): The tuition fees is on the higher side for international students. Each 3-credit course is around $4200. The average cost per semester is around $12000. However, students can manage the cost with part-time work and scholarships. Students have access to various facilities such as a gym, library, printing services, medical services etc.

Tips: Though the University experience is decent, getting scholarships or financial aid is a little tricky here. The first semester, especially if you do not know anyone here could be challenging to figure out things. Denver as a city is nice, and worth the living cost.
Likes (Indian Food): There are a handful of Indian restaurants and grocery stores. I prefer cooking by myself. There are also Middle Eastern places that serve good food. Konark Grocers has all Indian grocery items including vegetables, biscuits and snacks.
Dislikes (Internships): To secure an internship, one needs to actively apply from the second semester onwards. Though there are career fairs at school, the applying part is totally on the student. We have a career center that helps with resumes. Not much guidance is provided by the University.

Tips: Be prepared for a practical, career-focused programme and manage time well. Weather can be harsh, so pack according. The cultural shift was manageable, but adapting to the fast-paced lifestyle and communication style took some time. I did not receive a scholarship; most are merit-based and competitive. The surrounding area felt unsafe at times, especially during late hours. I felt the need to be extra cautious off-campus, which affected my sense of overall security. UMBC provides emergency alert systems, shuttle services, a well-lit path, and blue light emergency phones throughout the campus to enhance student safety. Baltimore has a rich culture and vibrant food scene, but I had a few comfortable encounters downtown at night. It's best to stay alert and avoid isolated areas.
Likes (Indian Food): There are many Indian restaurants and grocery stores nearby that offer authentic food, which makes it easy to find meals similar to home. Local options include Indian, Chinese, Mediterranean, and American restaurants. Casual meals cost $10-$20; mid-range restaurants are $25+. Overall, I'm really satisfied with my experience at UMBC so far.
Tips: As an international student at UMBC, there were definitely some adjustments I had to make when first arrived on campus. The bigger one was probably getting used to the more independent and self-driven style of learning. Here, you really have to take initiative and be proactive about your academics and getting involved. That said, the transition was made so much easier by the diverse, welcoming community at UMBC. There are tons of cultural clubs and events that helped me find my niche. The application process was pretty straightforward -just to maintain a high GPA and write a couple of essays.
Likes (Student Life): I rated student life a 4 because, for me, the college has been a truly enriching experience so far. I love the buzz of being on campus and the sense of independence that comes with it. My typical day involves attending classes in person, hanging out with friends at the student centre or coffee shops, and squeezing in some study time at the library. I also make sure to hit the gym or catch a game to unwind. The best part is the freedom to explore new interests through the diverse range of clubs and activities on offer. Speaking of which, our campus is always buzzing with events and festivities, from cultural celebrations to open mic nights and movie screenings. It's been an awesome way to meet like-minded people and build a strong sense of community.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Finding employment with visa sponsorship after completing your master's programme can be difficult, but not impossible. Start preparing and networking early, and focus on larger companies and major tech firms. STEM fields have more opportunities with competitive salary packages at the entry level. Maintain an excellent academic record, and develop unique skills. Stay focused, highlight your strengths, and seek guidance from career services and mentors.

Satisfied with my time here but a little too expensive.
Tips: I got paid an allowance once it was around $12000 however did not avail of any scholarship. My professors were all good, and the labs here are well-equipped. The only concern I have is that library is not open 24x7. There are many things to do in university here and if you have any talent you'll easily find your way up. Be sure to prepare your assignments on time. I am overall satisfied with my university although I would say that a fee is a bit higher as to where the university is located.
Likes (Internships): Relevant internships are there which give you hands on experience. The faculty and college help you with that and if you are an active member of any club, your connections will help you too. There is a portal called UMBCworks where you can find relevant internships and job opportunities with respect to your course.
Dislikes (Safety): There is only one reason why I have rated 3 on safety and that is because Baltimore as a city is a bit higher on crime rate than other cities in the United States. This city is like a remote city and you'll feel like you are in an outskirts area.

Tips: Students should know that if you are planning to come here to feel city like vibes then you will be laid a bit back. This university is in the outskirts with forest surrounding and there isn't a lot of development here if I talk about the area. University itself is good, the extra-curriculars here are good as well. So before coming here at least talk to someone who has lived or studied around here so that you can have a fair idea.
Likes (Quality of faculty): My course here is data Science and I must say the faculty is good. They not only help you with your assignments and course curriculum but they are there for you when you are looking for jobs or internships. Try to build relationships with your professors when you are here and this is what will set you apart from others.
Dislikes (Student Life): To be in states is not like in India. Here you have to take a part-time job anyhow to make ends meet so you should be knowing how to balance your academic and personal life. There is not much to do outside as a student, don't expect it'll be like New york or California here. College has many clubs you can involve yourself with but again you should know how to manage your time.

Tips: I come from South India and have met many fellow students from South India here. All I'm saying is that no doubt you are in a totally different environment you'll still meet people from your place and background but try not to only sick to it, open yourself towards other people's beliefs and opinions that's how it works here in US. It's a good place to make new friends and develop lifelong relationships so if you are someone who wants that US is definitely for you. I'm satisfied with my university and that I'm in US, there are a plethora of opportunities here starting from part-time, to internships and getting settled here. Also, the university is very sporty you'll know after coming here.
Likes (Safety): I didn't encounter any un-safe event myself in this area and thus, I have rated 5 when it comes up to safety and security. All I would say is that be cautious of your environment nobody will harm you if you don't provoke or poke others. As a student I believe that you should always be humble towards people and if anyone provokes you don't act up to it. Baltimore is a diverse region so make sure to respect diversity.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There are many Indian restaurants in Baltimore like Namaste Baltimore, kumari and Ambassador but eating there will cost you a lot as a student say 2 samosas will cost you around 500 Indian rupees and I don't think that's worth it even if I consider the taste. So as an Indian student studying here in Baltimore US my suggestion would be to cook yourself. It's more convenient, easy on pockets and more of an acquired taste.

Tips: UMBC offers excellent educational opportunities. The lecturers are extremely educated, and they always encourage you to do your best with difficult homework, classwork and tests. Nothing to damage you, yet everything to motivate you to achieve. You have a lot of options as well. There are always office hours, study sessions, and online discussions forums, as well as the library and other students in your classes. There are also TAs who are quite helpful. The individuals that work here are what make this school what it is. People here normally do their own thing and are concerned about what others think of them. I adore and admire these folks. The housing is quite good here. I reside on campus in an apartment with four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a complete kitchen and a laundry room. It is also pretty spacious. These locations are well-equipped.

UMBC needs to be modernised
Tips: UMBC has its reputation but in reality the university and the surrounding area definitely needs to be worked on. It's more like an old university in the middle of a hilly forest area. The faculty members and management do a great job and assist students wherever. UMBC is expensive compared to other universities.
Likes (Internships): The internship opportunities are good as UMBC has its reputation. But a student needs to actively look out for internships in order to get one. Career fairs are regularly conducted by the university and many companies come in to offer internships and jobs to students.
Dislikes (Safety): As far as Baltimore is concerned it is one of the highest crime rate cities in USA. There is no proper development of the area surrounding the university which makes it scary and unsafe with animals wandering around in silence it feels more like living in a forest.

It is worth it if you are ready to work.
Tips: It is a research oriented university. So, be prepared to work hard. The syllabus will not be easy and also don't get disappointed if you cannot get an assistantship. The assistantships are luck based and given out randomly. But you'll have ample opportunities to work on campus.
Likes (Public transportation): The area is well connected by bus and also with the University shuttle services. The shuttles are free if you have your college ID card. Other than that, you have metro trains and buses. It can take you from point A to B at a cheap price.
Dislikes (Safety): It is not very safe. The crime rate is high. There are lots of unsafe areas here. People don't go out when it's dark. You should choose your neighborhood carefully before you rent a place off campus.

Tips: I experienced a lot in starting, because there is lot of difference compared to India and USA and not only in cultural things. I didn't get any scholarships, I just got some allowance once. However, I'm fully satisfied with the country, course and university.

The University has multi option to choose and career track.
Tips: The student should do well research about the course and the topics to be covered in the course.
There is the basic or fundamental for every course if you are doing Masters/ PHD or bachelors.
one should be clear and focused to have practical knowledge rather than the bookish concepts as the way of teaching is totally different from India
Likes (Post study jobs): When your masters is completed, the UMBC is surrounded by 4 states which have plethora of jobs and internship options.
Washington, Penn, New York, Maryland, Ohio and many more have options in various domains such as insurance, health, education, banking, government projects which gives student to do the job and well paid as per the state policy.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Indian food is the blend of all the culture and spices such as nutmeg, turmeric, cumin, cinnamon, coriander and many more which help to fight from various infections and inflammation.
Each state in India has their own cuisine and method of cooking.
