Competitive yet reasonable
Tips: Do not come if you are not ready to put in the hard work. None of the professors will go easy on you. You have to earn every single mark. You will obviously experience a cultural shift that you are not ready for. The weather also takes a toll in the beginning.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The professors are some of the reputed individuals in their respective fields. They are as accessible as you would expect a university professor to be, but the assistants are even more accessible. They are available to answer your doubts and advise in office hours.
Dislikes (Part time work): The ratio of the no. Of available jobs to the no. Of students trying for them is very skewed. Since it is a student city (RWTH alone has more than 40k students enrolled - at least in my first semester), the competition is very high. You get paid the minimum wage according to regulations.

Tips: - Personally, for me, the transition was not that difficult since I grew up in an international environment. I guess for indian students, the greater deal is, will I find a community I can interact with and share common interests with? The answer is always a resounding yes. - Generally, in Germany, scholarships are not that easy to secure since the tuition feels is quite low. - Before joining a TU9 university, it's important to note that it's going to be highly research- and academically oriented, so be prepared to put in the hard miles. - I am satisfied since I found the right channel to develop my skills, the right jobs, and academic positions to pursue my interests further.
Likes (Safety): The city is pretty safe, apart from a few junkies on the street. - Knowing German helps you assimilate better and learn local culture, and that directly helps with safety. - I never felt unsafe during the wee hours of the day since everything was accessible and secure. - I just never had any bad experiences, but that's only a personal thing.
Dislikes (Internships): - The university has a career center that is always open to international students
- Finding internships and jobs is more dependent on your profile
- Networking with industry experts at career fair, or through the university alums, does land some positions

Tips: Please learn German before you come, it helps you integrate with other students. When you want to socialise or participate in student clubs, for many activities. If you want to find Werkstudent jobs, German would be essential for that as well. Later, for finding a full-time job, you open up many opportunities if you have a good level of German.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The method of teaching is through practical coursework- mostly assignments, practical problem-solving, open book exam for some courses where understanding concepts matters more than memorising. All faculty are Europeans. You would be mainly interacting directly with the Ph.d. professors are accessible just after lectures.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Since it is a small student city, not many Indian restaurants are available. However, there are 3 Indian grocery stores where you can buy almost all things we get in India, including exotic vegetables, packed items, and spices. Some Indian restaurants are there, but not very authentic. So get ready to become a chef.

Tips: RWTH Aachen is an incredible place for anyone serious about engineering, but students should know that the academic pressure is real and the learning style is very independent. The university expects you to manage studies, handle German bureaucracy, and adapt to a fast, demanding pace. Knowing basic German makes daily life and admin work much easier, even if your programme is in English. The campus is spread across the city, so you'll walk a lot, and Aachen's cold, rainy winters can be tough at first. But it is all worth it.
Likes (Value for money): Indeed, in effect, you will get access to one of the finest engineering universities in Europe, the best labs, and world-class professors. The university collaborates with some of the finest companies like BMW, Ford, Continental, and others, thus creating chances for internships, theses, and jobs paying good salaries.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There are barely any Indian food points available here, which is an issue but not a deal-breaker because you can always rely on either donor or pizzas to bail you out. You can always make food at home because of the availability of various Indian shops selling Indian masalas.

Tips: I can say I had a fairly smooth transition. For me, it was a different experience to sit and learn among students from different nationalities. Also, it makes you more competitive and striving to be among an elite set of students who rival your intellect. The course is excellent, offering a variety of subjects from very experienced and knowledgeable faculty.
Likes (Safety): The safety, as such is pretty good. There has been an incident of women in the university a year back, but it is commendable that the university took quick and strict action against the offender. The city as such is decent, people are generally friendly, and you seldom find racism issues. Junkies do exist in some isolated areas, but they mind their own business and are rarely a problem for the general public.
Dislikes (Internships): The guidance is decent if you enquire about it. Unlike India it is not served on a platter for you. Internships are not mandatory for SSE although you could do one and it definitely boosts your CV. There are many companies in and around Aachen. Cologne and Du00fcsseldorf area, also fully remote options.

Tips: The course is really theoretically heavy and less practical than you would want if your goal is to gain a job in the field. More oriented towards a PhD. Type education. There are career events where you can go and speak with multiple companies and try to land part-time or full-time opportunities. If your focus is getting a job, then you can choose this university, but make sure to look for student jobs early on to gain experience in your field.
Likes (Public transportation): The transportation is great because the university is spread out across the city and you can get there easily by bus. There are only buses available within Aachen city. Sadly, there are no trams, but you don't really need them in such a small city like Aachen. The semester fee also covers transportation costs for one semester, so it's a great value for money.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There are a few restaurants that have Indian food, and they are decent, I would say, but I would prefer more restaurants and better quality. They also don't have a lot of Indian cuisines, so you can mostly get North Indian stuff easily, but you'll have to go to Ku00f6ln to get good South Indian food. I usually prefer to cook at home and eat out less.

Theoretical and time-intensive but reputed university
Tips: It's very theoretical, and 40% who start don't end up graduating because of that; the exams are quite difficult, and you have to study a lot for them. But tuition is very low, just 320 euros per semester, and it's a top German university, in the global top 100. If you have plans on working in Germany, note that a lot of positions, especially in German companies like Bosch and Siemens and the car companies like BMW, expect almost fluent German skills.
Likes (Public transportation): Good connection by bus and train except to the Informatikzentrum. The bus ticket is included in the tuition fee, so it is practical, and you can even go to the Netherlands and Belgium with it. So it is very nice for traveling in your free time to get your head off of work and studies.
Dislikes (Internships): You can go to the career fair and business talks, but otherwise there is not that much focused recruiting. It's definitely possible to do internships like at BMW, Mercedes, or Siemens, although you will usually have to relocate to southern Germany for that time. Otherwise, in smaller companies in Aachen.

An International Student’s guide in Germany
Tips: Overall, the transition was smooth. RWTH has the friendliest professors compared to what I heard from my friends at other universities in Germany. If a student is not able to connect with their classmates, they can start connecting with PhD students or professors and learn about the culture and take advice on anything and everything they face. I was very satisfied with my course and even applied for a Master's programme after my semester exchange and got accepted.
Likes (Part time work): There are plenty of part-time jobs available. You need to have patience and the right approach when approaching someone for work. Part-time work is manageable along with 6-7 master level courses per semester. Average payout: 12-13 Euros/hr for academic assistant jobs and more for jobs involving labour, like at grocery stores.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There are many Indian restaurants in the city of Aachen, along with cuisines from many countries. I prefer to eat outside twice a week, and the rest of the time, I cook by myself. You can get cheap groceries at stores like Lidl, which helps you keep expenses in control.

Tips: I'd say I've transitioned pretty well. In India I was constantly the top of my class, but here you'll find you are around students who are equally good or maybe above you. This helped me to learn better as I collaborated with them. I'm very satisfied with the university. The course, IMO is the best under Informatik in RWTH. It offers a lot of variety. Aachen is a good student friendly city.
Likes (Public transportation): Aachen's public transportation is pretty good. You can get even to the neighboring districts without much hassle, and the buses are fairly punctual. Train connections are good too, since Aachen is a terminus for most of the trains, they aren't very crowded when starting from Aachen. On top of that, the semesterticket from RWTH also adds areas of Netherlands and Belgium and you can also travel these areas for free with the semesterticket
Dislikes (Post study jobs): The 4 rating is not specific to the university, but to the job market. I would rate 4 for any university in Germany. RWTH is one of the most prestigious branding you can get, and still the job market is bad as of 2026. Still, some companies favor applicants from RWTH or TU9 unis in general. The company I work now only accepts applicants from TU9.

Tips: About the university, course and country its sport on if you are willing to learn German language. Even for the part time and after graduation German language skill is very important. I didn't get any scholarships or something. I have managed my finance by own. Also before joining the course please review the course first as I have seen lot of people who quite the course after 2-3 semester because the don't able to complete the exams.
Likes (Value for money): RWTH Aachen is an absolute steal when it comes to what you're actually getting for your money. Because it’s a public German university, there are zero actual tuition fees. You only have to pay a relatively small semester fee twice a year, and honestly, the perks completely cover that cost on their own. The biggest highlight is that this fee includes the country-wide Deutschlandsemesterticket. Having that means you can hop on any regional train, bus, or metro across the entire country for completely free. Just using it to travel around North Rhine-Westphalia or take weekend trips out of Aachen makes the semester contribution worth it.
Dislikes (Indian Food): As an Indian vegetarian, it is hard sometimes to find vegetarian food outside, so you should have to manage cooking with studying and a part-time job. I always prefer to cook at home rather than eating out, as it saves much more cost. But yes, you can also find Indian restaurants here in Germany. There are also Indian grocery stores where you can buy Indian groceries. Apart from that, German supermarkets also have the most common groceries like fruits, vegetables, and dairy products.

A wonderful experience at a word class university
Tips: A cultural shift will always be there but has become a bit easier as there are a large number of Indian students who come there every semester. Scholarships as such are directly limited. There are a few programs that give financial support based on academic performance. I did receive a one-time payment from such a program in the first semester. The university is one of the best in the world; of course, I would say it could have been structured a bit better; didn't feel like a specialization at the end. Germany is great all around if you speak the language.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Most of the faculty are experts in their field of study. They also have a large amount of teaching experience, which allows them to convey things quite easily, which makes it easier to understand for students as well. The course layout designed makes the lectures a lot more interactive.
Dislikes (Value for money): I had to rate value for money on the lower side because, honestly, the financial train of being here keeps creeping up with every new intake. If you're doing one of the specialized or international academy courses, the actual tuition fees are incredibly steep—especially when you realize you could get a practically identical degree for free at other public German universities. Even for the standard programs, between the rising semester contribution and the ballooning cost of rent in Aachen, it starts adding up fast. Half the time, it feels like you're just paying a massive premium just to have the RWTH Aachen brand name on your resume. The university rides incredibly hard on its reputation as this elite TU9 school, but the reality on the ground is just overcrowded lectures, completely brutal exam fail rates, and useless administrative support. Honesty, it makes you question why you're burning through so much cash and sanity for a piece of paper.

You just have to shell out around €300 each semester but that’s not actually tuition—it’s a student contribution fee and it covers your Semesterticket, which gives you free public transit across the entire state.
But here’s the catch you can't ignore: you need German, period. Even if your specific master's or bachelor's degree is taught entirely in English and you can get by on campus just fine, the bubble bursts the second you try to find work. Aachen is a massive tech and engineering hub, but local companies and startups expect you to actually communicate with their teams.
If you want to land a solid student job (HiWi) on campus, a part-time corporate gig or a full-time role after you graduate having a strong grasp of German is a total game-changer. Without it, you're competing for a tiny fraction of English-only roles, which makes the job hunt way more stressful than it needs to be.

It costs roughly €30,000 to €40,000 and is tailored for technology enthusiasts.
Likes (Public transportation): We have good connectivity to the campus. The travel fees are included in the semester ticket. So you don't need to pay again. There are no teams in Aachen. But there are buses in every 15 minutes. Aachen's public transit features an extensive ASEAG bus network and regional rail from Aachen Hauptbahnhof. It also includes cross-border routes like bus line 350 to Maastricht. Track schedules seamlessly on the go with the DB Navigator or the movA app.
Dislikes (Part time work): This MBA course is a full-time, tightly packed course. Therefore, one will not get enough time to go for part-time jobs. Good university but Learn German before coming
Tips: There is no campus placement concept here in Germany. You can avail scholarships; go through the website carefully—there are multiple options. I also got a scholarship. I am very satisfied with my course and university. For me personally, there was no culture shift. But for someone coming here, I would suggest familiarizing oneself with the rules and culture before shifting via the internet.
Likes (Student Life): Aachen is honestly just built for students, so finding your crowd and mixing with people from all over the world is a breeze. I actually did a stint as the HR for the INCAS group—which is this massive student org dedicated entirely to helping international students settle in—so I saw firsthand how crazy active the whole community is.
Aside from INCAS, RWTH Aachen has an absolute ton of stuff to do outside of classes. The university sports scene or Hochschulsport is massive plus there are countless cultural groups, music clubs, or random project teams depending on what you're into. It’s the kind of campus where you’re never just stuck sitting in a lecture hall. There's always some event or meetup happening which makes it super easy to build a solid network and actually have a life while you're here.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): I'm giving it 3 stars mainly because the job market for English speakers is honesty pretty tough. Most places in Germany really push for German fluency, which makes the whole hunt way more of a headache and takes forever. That being said, if you're in Teach, you might have a bit of an easier time since they're usually a lot more relaxed about the language requirements compared to other fields.

A Challenging but Rewarding Academic Journey
Tips: Look, if you’re actually coming to RWTH, you’ve got to be ready to stay on top of your own stuff—it is definitely not the type of place where you can just coast. Trying to cram for exams like two weeks before is basically just a disaster waiting to happen, so you’ve really got to keep at it all semester. If I could give one tip, it’d be to sit down and map out your courses right at the start so you don’t end up totally drowning in work later on. And honestly? Don’t beat yourself up if you can’t finish in exactly two years. Most people take about two and a half once they factor in the internship and the thesis, and companies actually seem to prefer that extra experience anyway. Also—definitely, definitely brush up on your math, especially calculus. It’ll make everything way less of a headache once you’re actually in the thick of it.
Likes (Value for money): Even though there’s a fee for the CAME program, they actually have quite a few scholarships you can look into. Plus, it’s still way cheaper than most other places in Europe, and honestly, the quality you get is worth the price tag. Most other courses in Germany are free anyway, which takes a huge weight off your shoulders financially. One thing I'd suggest is looking for a HiWi spot—it's usually not too hard to find one at the better unis, and it’s a great way to make some extra cash while actually learning the technical side of things. Also, Aachen is much easier on the wallet than other cities. Like, if you were in Munich, you'd probably be spending nearly double on rent and stuff compared to what you’ll pay here.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Honestly trying to land a job in Germany after a Master’s is just brutal lately. The recession has really messed things up especially with the big industries like cars and manufacturing slowing way down. It’s a total nightmare if you aren't fluent in German too as maximum of the decent roles basically won't even look at your CV unless you can speak the language properly.

Tips: There is no tuition fee. Students get high quality education with excellent research facilities, almost free of cost. The university is top notch. One needs to put in effort in studies. It is advised to study regularly. It is advised to learn German during studies to improve one's chances of finding a job in Germany after the studies.
Likes (Public transportation): Public transport is excellent. The city has a large number of buses running from 5 AM to 1 AM. Their live timings can be tracked using apps such as Naveo and DB Navigator. Public transportation is cheap. With 65 euros Deutschlandticket, one can travel on any bus within the city.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Indian restaurants are very few in number. They are also quite expensive. Generally students cook their food themselves. Occasionally, I used to eat outside in Indian restaurants. There are many other options available as well - Turkish, Greek, Italian, Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, Japanese etc.

Worst experience in international university of applied sciences Berlin.
Tips: Don't join! Not worth it. Maybe they changed their location and full course structure, so it will be different, but my experience was really bad. First of all, we didn't have a campus, no clubs, no community, no celebration. Firstly, it was non-mandatory classes later, after a university Court case, mid-course they changed everything exams, compulsory attendance- to resolve a visa issue. They extended the semester (for free). But not worth it waste of time and money. Also, employers' reputation is not good. I feel discriminated against because for German students they arrange events, and even their student office is different on campus from the one for indian students. They have a different student office with little to no activity. Once my friend went to a professional event arranged by them on campus that we wanted to join, the staff said it was not for indian students. So it was disappointing.
Likes (Public transportation): Berlin's connectivity is very good. The U-Bahn and S-Bahn are very convenient, and there are also buses. The public transportation fees are paid by the university it's included in feels so no problem. I currently live in Frankfurt. I moved there for an internship, but regional travel is also very convenient nowadays. ICE is more expensive that's why I rely on FlixTrain. If we book FlixTrain a month or so in advance, it's very cheap.
Dislikes (Quality of faculty): Our tutors are fine, but we don't learn from real professors who set exams professors work remotely with little to no help. 1) We have Outlook, so we can text them, and their replies are usually very vague. 2)I have absolutely no clue about my teaching faculty, but yes, our one tutor was so good, but unfortunately, he left the university.

Visa situation after the university
Tips: Most of the things they have to do on their own, and the university does not confirm the visa situation for the future because many students have experienced visa refusal even after completing the degree at this university. The situation was quite depressing when students had to leave Germany mid-degree.
Likes (Public transportation): Berlin has quite good transportation facilities. Trams and the U-Bahn rarely go on strike there. And the S-Bahn used to run regularly; it is quite easy to get to the university. Initially can be a bit confusing, but later you get familiar with where u have to get transfers and transport.
Dislikes (Quality of faculty): Initially, the staff was extremely experienced, but later they reduced the qualite, some of them were from Pakistan and India and were not able to pronounce some basic accounting terminology. And they used up a lot of the students' time.

My College was nice but my suggestion to any student would be to go for a Public University.
Tips: Studying here requires self-learning and Time management. Learning German is also very, very important. It was a big transition, but slowly, slowly everything becomes normal. Keep yourself positive. I did not get any scholarship, I came through UpGrad. Overall, I am happy. This college gave me international exposure. Finding a job is really challenging here, especially without German. But all this experience makes you more independent day by day.
Likes (Public transportation): I rated it 5 because the campus is well connected to the city. There are several transportation options available, including Bus, Tram, S-Bahn, and U-Bahn. For 63 euros, you can buy the Deutschland Ticket. For a whole month, you can travel throughout Germany and use any transportation.

Great Environment, Lackluster Job Support
Tips: Moving here was a positive cultural experience mainly because the city feels incredibly secure and student-friendly day and night. However, prospective students should know that the university lacks strong career infrastructure. I managed without scholarships, but value for money is low due to minimal internship guidance, limited part-time job avenues, and sparse industry networking. The academics and student atmosphere are average, but you must be prepared to do all the heavy lifting yourself if you want to gain practical work experience.
Likes (Safety): Very Low Crime Rate: A city is safe in every sense of the term, and there is no sense of danger or harassment in the city. A Warm and Friendly City: The city’s inhabitants take care to make it a warm and friendly city for the student so that he/she can feel valued and respected. Well-Lit Infrastructure and Roads: The city’s infrastructure, roads, residential places, and even the university campus are well-lit during the night and do not give a sense of being deserted. Safe and Convenient Transportation: A student can explore the city on foot or by bicycle conveniently.
Dislikes (Internships): Not any internship through the university; no help from the university. The university career center provides almost no help with internships, campus drives, or any kind of outreach for helping students to get internships. No Campus Drives: Almost no campus drives, career fairs, or company meet-ups by the university to bring the students in contact with prospective employers. Weak Links to Industry & Alumni Network: The university lacks active connections with local and national companies, as well as an alumni network, which means that cold outreach is the only way out for the students.

Tips: Students should know that the university requires self-study, good time management, and self-discipline. The transition was smooth. No, I didn't avail myself of any scholarships. Overall, I'm somehow satisfied with university, the course, and Germany as a study destination.
Likes (Indian Food): Giving Indian food options a 5/5 was a no-brainer because finding familiar ingredients around campus and the city is surprisingly easy. There’s a great mix of local spots—not just Indian, but also Turkish, Asian, and Italian places if you want a change—with eating out usually running between €7 and €14 per meal.
That said, as an Indian student at IU, I end up cooking at home most days to keep things affordable and healthy. Getting authentic spices, lentils, and basmati rice is super easy thanks to local Indian and Asian supermarkets nearby, so you can easily recreate home-cooked food whenever you get homesick.
Dislikes (Internships): No good internship opportunities from university. Should work very hard to find internships. Limited guidance and support available. Students mostly need to search and apply independently. The available internships are sometimes relevant to the field of study, but more industry connections and career support would be helpful.

It was ok until they switched the campus
Tips: Be flexible because the university recently had a lot of decisions that affected our study, but other than that, it's good to have a side job next to studying. There was a lot of transition that happened, like changing houses multiple times to figure out the best suitable affordable place for studying and work.
Likes (Part time work): Because I don't have to attend classes, I can work 20 hours a week. Apart from studying, working on campus is an option if you have a good German level, but there are more opportunities off campus. There will still be some time to study; the average payout depends on the job, but it goes from 13 to 15 as a minimum wage.
Dislikes (Student Life): Because there are no student activities like parties or student gatherings like there are supposed to be in other universities, most of my day is spent on self-study and work. Sometimes I don't go to classes, but when I go, I attend the class and then go back to study in the library or at home.

Tips: It was actually easy for me; my brother also lives here. And of course, there is a lot of culture shock in literally everything, but nothing that a person cannot adjust to. I did not have any scholarship; I work a part-time job and pay for my tuition fee. Overall, I would choose Germany and this course every time; maybe I would go to a different university only because it's a private university and it's expensive.
Likes (Public transportation): Well, the university is in a great location. The bus connection is right outside; supermarkets are a 5-10 minute walk away for middle-class snacks. And transportation is, of course, free; you can travel anywhere with your DB ticket, which the university gives you. You have to pay for it, of course, but it's cheaper for students.
Dislikes (Student Life): Honestly, I don't go to classes as much as I should, but when I do go, it's normal. I go to classes. We have a university canteen for lunch; we hang out in the university cafe in between classes. Our university has its own bar and cafe, we have student event team so they organize all the fun events like Desi night, Indonesian night, jazz night, etc.

My positive journey in Germany
Tips: If you're planning to join IU in Berlin, you should know that the city itself makes the transition incredibly easy. Moving here as a self-funded student was a big financial step for me, but Berlin is so multicultural and international that I didn't experience any real culture shock at all. Apart from getting over the initial hurdle of the German language in day-to-day life—like dealing with local paperwork—you can easily get by with English since the student community and the city are so diverse. The practical, applied sciences setup at IU is quite solid, but the biggest win of studying here is just how well the city works around you. The public transit system is unreal—between the U-Bahn, S-Bahn, and buses, you can get absolutely anywhere in the city at any hour without needing a car. For a self-funded student, having that kind of reliable, integrated transport alongside a welcoming, global atmosphere takes a massive load off your shoulders and makes the whole university experience thoroughly positive.

Tips: Students should understand that they are going for a higher studies abroad, meaning they are gonna move, stay, study and probably work part-time as well. So the transition is not gonna be easy. Also, it isn't tough given the seriousness of the student to take up the opportunity for moving to pursue higher education. There is learning in every phase of an international student. There are scholarships available but since it's Germany, there will be a lot of paperwork (bureaucracy). I am very satisfied with my university, course and Germany. Also, I received a dual degree from London South Bank University. I am very glad about it.
Likes (Public transportation): Berlin is the capital of Germany. Therefore, you won't find any trouble travelling within the city. The public transportation offers various modes of transport at an affordable rate but students can travel free of cost as their travel is already included in the Semester ticket which is to be paid to the university semi-annually.
Dislikes (Internships): You have limited guidance on finding or applying for internships. Of course, you can go through mentoring and/or using the power of the internet to find and apply relevant internship opportunities in Germany. Yes, there are enough internship opportunities available but I would say that most of them would be in the German language and/or the organisation or nature of the position will demand fluent German language skills to undertake the role.

Tips: About the reputation of the university, its course curriculum and how much faculty support students to find jobs. They offer scholarships at the start if you are taking admission directly without any third parties. I would prefer to go to a public university instead of a private one.
Likes (Public transportation): My university offers a student ticket on which I can use all public transportation for free. There are U-bahn S-bahn and trams in the whole Berlin. You can use anything with a student ticket that which university provides you at cheap prices. Sometimes in winter you will face some issues but not for a long time.
Dislikes (Value for money): As part of a private university, the tuition I am paying isn't worth. All private universities only care about money but after that, you have to face many issues like support from faculty regarding your course problems or anything. The university has one major issue is every process is online. You have to mail just to get in touch with the faculty.

Tips: Research is the biggest key to know about anything abroad. Just research well on how to deal with everything when you are abroad, as it might get tough at one point.

About internships, work experience works here if you have one, you might land somewhere. Tough for a fresher like me to survive.
The university is not really up to the mark regarding everything, as it is facing an issue.
Likes (Safety): Berlin is safe, every city has its own downfalls in a few places, but at the end, it is safe to travel here regardless of any gender, boy or a girl, to travel during the day or at night.
It’s fine to travel at night if you're thinking, some places are unsafe in Berlin, but you could always move to a new place, so not to worry.
Dislikes (Internships): The situation currently in Germany is quite tough for the job market, as students and working professionals as well are finding it hard to land any internships or jobs, as most of the universities won’t spoon feed you on the internships or work to find out.

Stressful, poor academics.
Tips: This is the worst possible university in Berlin. A lot of discrimination takes place here. Professors are not interested in teaching. You will learn nothing here. The acceptance rate is high as they are going bankrupt.
Likes (Public transportation): My student life was non existent as teachers were never ready to teach. The campus has 0 events. It is a host town. If you want an actual college experience, go somewhere else; you have been warned. IU is poor in every standard and does not even have a real campus.
Dislikes (Value for money): Faculty is the worst, unresponsive, no support. Teaching is monotonous and boring, and lecturers are often underqualified. The only diversity in students is Indians and Pakistanis, same goes for the faculty. Professors are often racist towards students.

Inexpensive university with public university benefits.
Tips: There is an early bird discount, not sure whether it's still available or not. Cultural shift was of course there but with STW and other student organisation, it gets easier to settle down. For scholarships, one can apply to DAAD, which provides a lot of scholarships, even Erasmus.
Likes (Public transportation): Even though trains are cancelled or delayed most of the times, but it is very convenient to travel across Berlin, especially as a student, you get discounted tickets with which you can travel all over Germany. Discounted tickets are 29 euros but students will get them only if they belong to a public university, and the university itself provides the ticket.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Currently in Germany, it is very difficult to find a job. There are openings but there is a big mismatch between supply and demand. It's mostly because of the language barrier. They expect immigrants to speak native level German even for jobs where English can work perfectly. Universities abroad don't provide placements like in India, there are job fairs where you can connect with companies and people. To find a job, it's all about networking.

The spacious, well lit campus, coupled with friendly staff is a major plus. Living in Berlin itself is also a significant advantage as locals are very friendly and respectful.
Dislikes (Indian Food): It's quite difficult to find authentic Indian restaurants in Berlin. Some are overpriced, while others aren't even Indian. There are also very few vegetarian options. I recommend that people cook their own meals most of the time and eat out only 1 to 2 times a week.

It is a good option for entry to Germany.
Tips: Before coming to Germany, make sure you have good language skills and financial backup. If you don't get a job, you'll need to survive after your blocked funds are used up. Due to the economic crisis, newly arrived students are experiencing cost-cutting measures that make survival difficult.
Likes (Safety): It's been 6 months in Berlin, and I've travelled here every hour, even at midnight, and there's nothing to worry about. On weekends, Berlin is more lively and vibrant, so no need to worry about safety. Here, on the street, you can find many beggars, but they won't harm you, and there's police available within a minute.
Dislikes (Part time work): The university campus has a high volume of English speaking students making it difficult for me to find a part time job on campus. I was already finding it hard to find work anywhere in Berlin before coming here. I have to learn some skills in the job market of my field before I can come here. If I learn some German I might have better luck.
