University of Stuttgart experience
Tips: There are many ups and downs, regardless of how prepared you are, like visa extensions getting delayed, not finding accommodation in time, health issues, or several reasons that might motivate and affect the studies. So before coming to Germany in general, students should be prepared mentally and emotionally and have a straightforward reason set in mind for coming here. Lack of motivation will affect mental, emotional, and academic health.
Likes (Safety): Despite being a big city, Stuttgart is very safe relative to other big cities. Good public transportation across the city allows you to go and hang out anywhere you like within the city and come back safely by night. Public transportation runs on Sun-Thur from 5.00AM to 1.00AM. On Friday and Saturday it runs overnight as well.
Dislikes (Student Life): There are not many college clubs or active social life in college. If you know good German, you can inculcate a bit, but there aren't many events happening in the college. Students usually hang out in groups, and there is no graduation ceremony as well. So basically college is just where you develop academically and get your degree.

A Challenging and Rewarding Engineering Journey at the University of Stuttgart
Tips: If you're planning to join Stuttgart for Mechanical Engineering, the main thing to know is that German is non-negotiable. B1 or B2 German makes your day-to-day life and social integration 10x easier, even if you speak fluent English.
I didn't take any scholarships and self-fund my studies here. The program itself is demanding, but the practical exposure is incredible—hands-on workshops like StutCAD give you real engineering skills, and being located right in Germany’s automotive capital opens up huge career opportunities.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Permanent immigration gets a 3/5 purely because of the administrative nightmare at the Stuttgart Ausländerbehörde. The path itself for engineering grads is clear on paper, but the local immigration office is notoriously understaffed and painfully slow. You can wait over a year for a settlement permit (Niederlassungserlaubnis) while your application sits in total radio silence for months.
Bureaucracy aside, my actual chances of settling long-term as a mechanical engineer are great—especially with local heavyweights like Mercedes-Benz and Porsche right here. I'd still stay in Germany permanently because the career growth in the Stuttgart region is top-tier, but dealing with city paperwork will test your patience.

No regrets about the course and the city.
Tips: Stuttgart is a fantastic place to be a student, but building a solid group of friends early on makes all the difference in keeping university life fun and manageable. On the funding side, definitely throw your hat in the ring for the Deutschlandstipendium. It’s extremely competitive since so many high-achieving students apply, but it’s 300€ a month if you land it, so it's worth the effort. Overall, I’ve been really happy with both my course curriculum and living in Stuttgart.

The best. You get everything you wish for here.
Tips: Even though the course is in English. I would recommend learning German for a better and easier life. Without German, it will be hard to get a part-time job, as it is their main language for communication. So be prepared rather than regretting. Other than that, it's all good here.
Likes (Value for money): It's under TU9, and its reputation really meets the quality of education. Rest it all depends how much efforts you put in. Don't overthink; come here, learn, grow, and live up to your dreams. It's one of the public university in one of the good cities in Germany, so opportunities are here but how to get them depends on how much hard work you put in.
Dislikes (Internships): It depends on students—how hard they work for it. It's very competitive here, so learn German to excel. The university offers a job fair twice a year, which can help you to get a part-time job during studies. And yes, there are many internships available for all kinds of fields.

A look into Uni Stuttgart
Tips: If you're making the move to the University of Stuttgart you definitely need to brace yourself for some serious initial culture shock—changing countries is never completely seamless. But the great thing about this campus is that it’s packed with other international students, so you are almost guaranteed to run into fellow Indians who can help you find your footing and figure out the local system during those first few weeks.
You should also keep an eye out for financial aid and specialized campus initiatives; there is always a realistic shot at landing a scholarship or getting involved in targeted university programs like FEMTECH, which are fantastic for building a solid network and getting your name out there. Outside of the university itself, Stuttgart is a fantastic, highly international city with a ton of stuff to do. Looking back, I’m genuinely happy with my decision to come here and incredibly grateful for how the whole experience turned out.
Likes (Internships): When it comes to actually applying for or landing an internship, the university leaves you completely out to dry—there is basically zero guidance or support from their side. The only reason you can actually survive is because Stuttgart is a massive industrial powerhouse. Being surrounded by so many massive manufacturing and tech giants means the opportunities for technical part-time work and proper internships are way higher here than if you were stuck in some quiet, tiny college town.
Even though the competition for these roles is an absolute bloodbath, the sheer volume of companies in the area means you can definitely find a job, get your foot in the door, and build up some solid local experience.
Dislikes (Quality of faculty): The faculty is very diverse and are knowledgeable. But according to my experience, it felt like the university took in more students than the ideal number of students they could manage. It is very competitive to find a research project or a HiWi or even a good topic for the thesis.

3/5: Better/Latest Curriculum and Job Support Needed for International Students
Tips: Honestly, you just have to study hard and get your German sorted early on. If you're coming to the University of Stuttgart, you've really got to put yourself out there to actually get the local culture and all those tiny everyday nuances. Especially with the way things are set up here—there’s zero chance you’ll find one single, magic platform where all the student opportunities are just handed to you. You genuinely have to be proactive and chase stuff down on your own.
Likes (Public transportation): As the public transportation in Germany is covered under the Deutschland Ticket, you can move across Germany under a 60-euro ticket. Public transportation is generally reliable, with not too many problems faced, except for RE while traveling from one city to another. However, occasional delays have prevented me from giving it 5.
Dislikes (Value for money): Yes, being a university under BW, this is one of the most expensive universities in Germany after TUM. So I would recommend that anyone think about ROI before applying to this university. Also, as one has to put lots of effort into their own to understand the curriculum, get a part-time job, and also explore other critical areas for self-development and learning, I would rate this university 2 on value of money, as my experience with this university was quite bad. But kindly take it with a pinch of salt as each individual has a different opinion.

Personal and academic growth.
Tips: The cultural Shifts in Germany are mostly emotional and physical. The weather, food and language are some things that took time for me. I have not applied for any scholarships but the University offers different types of Scholarships that students can apply for. Getting the scholarship does not totally depend on academics but also on extracurricular activities and volunteer work. To be honest, I got much interest in education after joining my University and the course. I learnt a lot from writing the paper to learning Soft Skills from fellow students and professors. Through the systems in my University, it has really developed a thirst inside me to be more educated and be in a better position.
Dislikes (Internships): Stuttgart has diverse Industries. Home to Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Bosch, etc and because of these big players many industries have evolved and developed in the State, creating more opportunities and making the most of the research for Germany. There are many Industry and University Collaborations happening and they have strong university research, creating many internship opportunities despite high competition.

Theory and research-oriented study program.
Tips: In Germany, there is a division when it comes to higher education - 'University' and 'University of applied sciences'. University focuses more on research and university of applied sciences focus on applied knowledge. Since Stuttgart is a University, it is more theoretical. It is completely in our responsibility to gain experience through clubs, Formula Student or similar things. So it might be stressful, but it is manageable.
Likes (Safety): Germany is generally safe compared to other European countries. Immediate help on and off campus from mentors and tutors. It is easy to get help even from the police or the general public in case of emergencies. There are lots of international affairs people in the university or general coordinators who make sure students feel safe on campus.
Dislikes (Part time work): On campus part time jobs are extremely scarce to find. Also the competition is higher. The pay is relatively very low compared to off campus part time jobs. Since International students who already pay large tuition fee, they won't be choosing on campus jobs unless they are really desperate for a part time job.

Research oriented prestigious university.
Tips: This is a university oriented towards research. Good mathematical skills are expected. There will be some cultural differences in lectures but that will be on the positive side. I did not apply for any scholarships. However, you can look for DAAD scholarships. I liked the course, teaching material and especially the professors.
Likes (Safety): The city is very well connected through public transport via the university campus. I have lived there for 3 years and never heard a concern about safety. You could see police patrolling every in the campus at night sometimes. There are many helpline numbers for emergencies. However it is always advised not to travel alone in secluded areas which is a general advice valid for every place. There is not much of a nightlife in the city, so there is not much you could do during the dark hours.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): The job market is pretty bad at the moment. Moreover, even with good German language skills the opportunities are too less. Work sponsorship is not needed. You just need to find a job with a minimum salary range then you can get the EU blue card which is a work permit. Generally, after graduation, you can get into a PhD programme, of course you will have a stipend which is approximately 55,000. So it is pretty decent. Apart from this you can work in the industry with an average salary of 60,000 however, it is difficult to find one at the moment. Internships are easy to get but a full-time job is hard.

Tips: Students should be prepared for a rigorous, mathematically intensive programme. COMMAS is research driven, so self study and good fundamental knowledge in mathematics and programming are important though not necessary. Administrative processes in Germany can be slow, so patience and planning are essential.
Likes (Safety): Student residences have controlled entry systems. I have always felt safe moving around Stuttgart even when it's midnight. The police presence is consistent even when it's too late. The city is generally calm, well organised. I have never had any negative experience so far.
Dislikes (Quality of faculty): The teaching is highly theoretical and research oriented. The faculty is not very diverse in nationality. They are often very busy with research and projects. Some professors use advanced simulation examples, which is a unique strength. Getting quick response from the professors can sometimes be difficult.

Tips: It's important to research about the course that one is taking. For the Electrical Engineering Master's, a few courses are difficult. It's important to choose a subject that interests you. It's always good to get an opinion about each subject from any senior students before writing the exam. Once you write an exam, it's not possible to register for that subject.
Likes (Part time work): There are good Indian restaurants in the city, but not many options when it comes to South Indian food. There are Sri-lankan restaurants, which do provide good south Indian food as well. Mostly, students cook for themselves as dining out is not an affordable option.

The university is good and friendly.
Tips: Sometimes there are cultural socks but it is a matter of time as time passes, it becomes adaptable. There are scholarships like Deutschlandstipendium which offer 300 euros per month as a scholarship. It's a research university, so if you want to do research, it is good for you.
Likes (Public transportation): Public transportation is efficient as most people use bus and trains rather than their private vehicles. Students are not offered a city ticket but you need to buy a monthly ticket from the German train authority but it costs 40 euros per month only.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Generally, the market is not good right now otherwise, in a normal scenario placements are good. The job roles vary from design to development to project management. The package goes for a fresher from 50,000 euros per year to 65,000 euros and for an experienced a bit higher than this.

My honest take on studying in Stuttgart.
Tips: Well, students should know that Stuttgart is a big city and you might feel a bit lost in the beginning. If you are someone who likes European architecture and buildings, I will have to disappoint you because Stuttgart is not the most beautiful city when it comes to architecture. They do have a lot of industrial opportunities which also comes with a lot of competition from other international students. Unfortunately you also won't have the most international environment in your classes if you decide to pursue engineering here because mostly there are Indians so you might have to put yourself more out there for sports and extra curricular activities so that you can interact with more international people. We do have a lot of nature spots here. If you like nature and forest and hiking, you might like it here, especially on the Vaihingen campus at the University of Stuttgart.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculty here is highly qualified and they have themselves studied from the world's best institutions. They are quite passionate at what they do. The research institutes also offer a wide range of thesis topics which can be pursued in order to fulfil your areas of expertise in the course of your Masters studies.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The chances of permanent settling in the city of Stuttgart are less because the Visa office has really long waiting days. If you need to switch your visa from student to job seeker or a full time employee, it is a very overwhelming process. You could work in Stuttgart but it is highly recommended to shift to nearby cities in order to have smooth paperwork regarding the bureaucracy.

Stuttgart city and TU Stuttgart experience.
Tips: The Stuttgart city is not like a typical European city, which someone would expect, but it has decent leisure options. You would probably meet more people from different parts of India itself. You need to put in effort to make friends with people outside your country. Few people also have the opportunity to get the Deutschlandstipendium which gives you a scholarship of 300 euros per month for a year. The university staff is responsive, and local people are helpful as well.
Likes (Public transportation): The S-Bahn stop is right at the center of the University, and not just that, even the bus stop is directly in front. Once you have the Deutschlandticket, the connectivity is great. You can get to the main station in around 15 minutes, and have a lot of other options to go to like parks, shopping centres.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There are quite a few Indian restaurants around, which are decent, and you could go there once in a while. On average, the cost per person at a restaurant is at least 15 euros, and as a student, it is a bit on the higher side for a one time meal. Once you know how to cook, you would not prefer spending so much money for just one meal.

Tips: The academic transition was very drastic when I arrived in Germany. My Bachelor's at Savitribai Phule Pune University had a simple, straightforward curriculum and exam pattern, so it was initially difficult to adjust to the concept based lectures and exams at Stuttgart. I didn't apply for scholarships interested candidates can find information online. I am completely satisfied with my university and course. As a technical university, Stuttgart offers complete freedom in choosing courses and electives based on individual interests. There are also opportunities for internships and working student roles, providing valuable industrial exposure and helping students optimise their career paths. Settling in Germany can be challenging due to the demanding language, cultural differences and the current market situation.
Likes (Part time work): It is easy to find on-campus part time jobs at the University, which are mostly known as HiWi (Wissenschaftliche Hilfskraft) or Student Assistant roles. In such roles one can find and contact different Ph.D. students and assist them on their respective projects under their guidance and supervision. It is usually manageable to have a part time job that amounts to 10 working hours per week along with the regular academic activities. The average pay is around 13 euros per hour.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There aren't many Indian restaurants in Stuttgart, and the ones that exist are either expensive or not very good. This is specifically about Indian cuisine; there are still great options for Italian, Thai, Korean, Mexican, or Turkish food in the city. I prefer cooking Indian food at home.

The economy is weak and it's very difficult to find work for less experienced professionals.
Tips: Adapt to German culture and weather, especially in winter. Learn the language to grow your social circle or miss out on networking. The German National Scholarship is available if you have good grades and maintain them for the standard period of study for two years. I am generally quite satisfied, as you have a lot of flexibility regarding courses, how many courses you want to take per semester, and part-time jobs.
Likes (Safety): Generally, Germany is a safe destination for students. The campus is situated in the outskirts of the main city and is surrounded by nice park, forest, and sports facilities. Stuttgart as a city offers a lot - it has a great city center, a lot of museums (Mercedes, Porsche), and the nightlife is also very happening and safe.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): All companies offer sponsor visas, however, right now the economy is weak and it's very difficult to find work for less experienced professionals or students. There are all kinds of job roles on offer, from data scientists to software developers, but you need to demonstrate a lot of skills and experience.

Tips: It's always good to talk to your seniors who have taken the subjects, because a few courses are extremely difficult. I also don't have a scholarship for my course. I'm not really satisfied with the university and the course, particularly, because the university doesn't really help the students in many matters, including studies. I am, however, well satisfied with the country.
Likes (Safety): The campus is generally safe all the time. I'd say it's a common thing in Europe. I never had any bad experiences. I'm sure the police know how to handle things, though. It's pretty safe to travel even at night, too. The transportation facility in the city also helps a lot.
Dislikes (Student Life): The course structure is complex, but you could find time for travelling and engaging with student activities. There are some summer parties, as well as annual parties. Student technical hubs, such as the green club, are pretty active, but student activities overall have limited exposure.

The university is student friendly and people are very friendly.
Tips: Know the German language well. It'll help with part-time jobs and jobs after your studies. There are options for scholarships, but with the blocked account money and part-time jobs, it'll be more than enough to survive. Also, the exams and study patterns here are very different. You need to constantly study and be up to date with classes. Studying a day before the exam will not be useful here.
Likes (Safety): Germany is one of the safest countries in Europe. In my time here, I've rarely faced any racism or other issues. People are friendly here, even cops are helpful. And if you know German, it's gonna be of great help. Public transportation is quite safe and have connection to almost every part of the city.
Dislikes (Indian Food): I prefer cooking by myself. There aren't many Indian restaurants here, and the ones available are expensive for the taste. There are a few Indian grocery stores here where you can get stuff. My suggestion is to learn cooking before you come here. It's better for health and financially wise in the long run.

Tips: Have some insights on courses, companies working on similar technologies. I have not received any scholarship. DAAD and Deutschland Stipendium are some of the good ones. They offer around 600 euros per month for one semester.
Likes (Student Life): The best thing about this university is internationalisation and part-time options with professors. Events like visiting tourist spots in the city, tech meet-ups, Science day and more. On average, I visit at least one event a month. Data about the club is available on the university website.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Upon learning the German language, it typically takes around 3 years to obtain German citizenship. A Diverse and Student-Friendly University Experience
Tips: Honestly, the best thing about being here is just how many different kinds of people you run into—it’s actually really cool. Just hanging out with everyone from all over the place made me feel like I actually fit in, you know? You’re always picking up like random little bits about different cultures just from grabbing a coffee or chatting in between classes. But honestly, the workload is just non-stop it's a lot. There’s always some deadline or another popping up, so it's basically impossible to have a life outside the library half the time. There are so many deadlines crammed into the week that it’s a total mission to even have a life outside the library half the time. A few of the super intense people managed to land scholarships, but I definitely wasn't one of them unfortunately! I’m pretty happy with it all, though; the uni is solid, and I’m actually really liking the country.
Likes (Student Life): The university has a really good student union. It has its own building named 'Centre for Student Life', which is opposite the main building. Most of the students' concerns/queries are answered there. It has its own bar, 'the Staff', which is one of the best places for students to get connected. The Student Union also conducts icebreaker sessions and YOLO club nights for students to get engaged. Twice a year, they also conduct a fair (I don't remember the name honesty), where all the clubs will have their stalls promoting their clubs. There are several clubs which include the photography club, an anime club, indian society, the LGBTQ+ society, the film club, the music club, the poetry club, the scriptwriting clubs and many more. It's good to go there if you are expecting to get any frrebies from there. They are also supportive during exams and dissertations. The best part of this union is the student lounge, which is open 24/7. This lounge is my favourite study space, and you can also play board games and table tennis inside. This lounge saved my exams and dissertations. It is also a good place to gather your friends. There are several other study places available around the campus: ASSC Library (open 24/7 during winters), and ABACWS (open till midnight).
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Look, Astronomy is really all about research, so your future basically depends on three things: finding a research job (which is super rare), going for a Ph.D. if you’re actually serious about staying in the field, or just pivoting to something else entirely. Since you pick up a lot of tech skills, most people end up moving into IT, data roles, or teaching. But honestly, those fields are incredibly crowded right now, and you’re competing with people from every background imaginable, so landing a job isn't going to be easy. My biggest piece of advice? If you want to be employed by the time your one-year course ends, you’ve got to start hunting in the very first semester. The uni doesn't do placements for you, so the goal for most people is really just getting into a Ph.D. program.

Tips: They attract students on the basis of their Russell group tag which is helpful at times, but the quality of teaching and helpfulness of faculty were quite disappointing in many subjects. There are very few class professors who actually teach very well. Otherwise, quite an average experience. Cardiff residents are the best people I have met in the UK.
Likes (Public transportation): Public transport in Cardiff is amazing, plus they have several applications to get around the city and also track buses. Two train stations are also close to the University, in case you want to travel to places during the summer. Buses charge around 2.80 per journey, and 5 if you get a bus pass. Trains are expensive in general throughout the UK.
Dislikes (Internships): Internship opportunities and information are available through the placement cell of my university, but they're not readily provided, have to do a lot of digging to actually find out how to get them. Some resume trips from the placement cell were not helpful at all for finding permanent jobs.

Tips: The programme here is very academically strong and professors are great mentors. There are some hidden gems around campus and locals are pretty friendly as well. Nice and peaceful place.
Tips: I had a smooth and comfortable transition here with no major cultural shocks. Space and sizes aren't as big as expected but the city is very friendly and safe. The campus is walkable and you'll be moving around for classes a lot. There are some good hiking spots nearby as well. We tend to cover more of the theory in classes but ultimately, it plays a role.

Tips: I have not had any major cultural shocks other than keeping up with the local accents and timings of places. The university offers a pretty solid education and is better priced than others which has been a plus point. The city is very student friendly as well and not too far from London as well.

An incredible space of learning and growth.
Tips: It is very different from what I learned and how I used to learn. I was prepared for a fast-paced learning environment where the focus was on practical applications rather than theory. Learning in this way was difficult at first, but I did get used to it eventually. One area of difficulty was the scholarship. I didn't get one, so I had to pay for all of my education expenses. People are more reserved in public, but they're very warm once you get to know them. Also, try to look out for accommodation as soon as you land. Besides, the faculty is highly knowledgeable, approachable and supportive.

Great place to study and work.
Tips: The weather is one thing in which you experience the change as well as the lifestyle of the people around you. Also, the language is also the barrier that these people have with the accents of here. I got the scholarship of 3500 GBP which was a great help that was availed at the time of admission. It is mentioned in the CAS letter. I am very satisfied with my course and future opportunities in the country.
Likes (Public transportation): The public transport in Cardiff is very good and timely. It has a day pass option as well, which is nice. Another great feature they have is the public transport app, which tells you which buses go where, and their departure and arrival times. As far as price goes, it's reasonable -- not too cheap, not too expensive. I think it's about 4.5 GBP per day.
Dislikes (Internships): As far as the internship part is concerned, the student union helps students get jobs, but we have to be adequately skilled. Also, the Student Future department helps students. However, this assistance is only provided because students are also supposed to eagerly look for jobs, but this assistance doesn't always come through because the opportunities are limited. Therefore, you need to be patient.

The university is known to have a good student community and it stands by it. There is something for everyone on the campus from club nights to arts and crafts events. Very buzzing campus. The city centre is vibrant and has many activities to do. It is not impossible to find part-time work in the city, but it is difficult. You need to look in the right places. You can look for opportunities on or off campus. In the city centre, there are many opportunities for casual or permanent work. Overall, I am certainly satisfied with my experiences.

Tips: Everything depends on your mindset and willingness to adjust, its not gonna be easy at all! Every course has some scholarships for international students. There will be lots of cultural shifts, they will change you as a person. I am satisfied with the course/country 7.5 on a scale of 1-10.
Likes (Post study jobs): Not many companies would want to give you a sponsored visa if you don't have work experience in the UK depending on your niche, sponsored jobs can vary from 4-6% (i.e only that % of your course strength might actually land in a sponsored job).
Dislikes (Part time work): In this economy and high rate of immigrants, finding a job part-time isn't that easy. It might take you a few months 3-6 depending on your applications and effort. You can earn about 700-800 3 per month if you work 20 hrs per week. Very manageable with studies if you're a hard worker.

Tips: The transition was very smooth, my peers and teachers were very friendly and I was able to make amazing friends. I had a scholarship for academic excellence (90% in 10th and 85% in 12th). It was a scholarship of fee education by 33000. My University caters to my every need, the faculty on my course is spectacular and Cardiff is very easy to travel in and amazing for student life.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculty are all very experienced, pioneers of their fields, friendly and helpful with students. There is so much to learn from them. We have office hours for doubt clarification and professors frequently reply to all your doubts by email. The teaching method is very interactive and makes the subject really interesting, the professors like using real life examples to connect us with the concept. The faculty is very diverse and they are friendly.
Dislikes (Value for money): The international fees is obviously quite a lot but you do get some very good opportunities and interact with some of the leading researchers in Physics which kind of makes it worth it. The fee is reasonable compared to other UK universities and hence provides fairly decent value for money.

The struggle is real. Not fit for freshers, come with experience.
Tips: The course was pretty basic. So I think just know how to struggle. I am not satisfied with the course and country due to bad situations. Also, housing crisis is going on. No scholarships were provided. Cultural shift is real. Please don't come if you are fresher. They charge for graduate VISA as well. Now they have increased the fee to 3000 pounds.
Likes (Student Life): Overall student life is fun. There are Bollywood parties, you can play football in the park and enjoy with your friends roaming in the UK. There are multiple events like diwali, holi for Indian students. Also, lot more things, you can play cricket, go to trips etc.
Dislikes (Value for money): No part time jobs are available. No professional jobs, as a fresher, you need 1-3 years of experience. You should not come to UK for I think the next 3 years. Also, teaching is okayish. Don't come if you are expecting salaries like USA. You have to buy graduate Visa for 3000 which is valid for 2 years. Public transportation buses are cheap, trains are costly.
