Good student friendly environment.
Tips: Waterloo is very student friendly and happening and because of the Indian student organisation here, its made things more comfortable and easy going. The co op programme is useful for industrial and job prospects but the sponsorship here have decreased. Safety is alright other than some cases of theft and pick pocketing.

Try not to burn out here.
Tips: Waterloo is a very friendly and exciting place to study with next level academic expectations. The co op opportunities can be absolutely make or break when it comes to career growth and advancement and professors here are among some of the best in terms of expertise, knowledge and experience, so be sure to leave a positive impression. Living near campus is quite expensive but if you find a decent place, you can save up on commute expenses.

One of a kind experience.
Tips: Waterloo is a school that has truly lived up to its name. Great for business and entrepreneurship programs and if you're someone who likes to be on the field or in research. You'll meet like minded individuals and great faculty that can actually make a difference. If you manage a scholarship or part time jobs, you can get good return of investment.

Pretty nice place to study.
Tips: The university always has a lot going on and everyone is quite friendly and helpful, which really helped me through my initial days here. There is a lot to explore around, and it is ideally safe, but there are increasing incidents of pickpocketing, and it's recommended that you travel in groups if it's late. The city is well connected and there are every industry here as well, out of which a lot of companies come for placements.

Learning the ropes in Waterloo.
Tips: I have been exposed to one of the most multi cultural campuses there are, and this has helped me in building connections with people from all over the world. The networking potential is great, and if you acquaint yourself with your professors, they can be quite valuable for LORs and even referrals. There are plenty of Indians and Indian food options as well, and Canada has a welcoming culture, which is seen in the university.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): There were better chances of getting work here a few years ago, but now Canada has increased its restrictions on immigration and jobs for international students. Given a chance, I would certainly like to work here, and there are chances, but you will really need to stand out for companies to take a chance on you.

The University of Waterloo offers a global and diverse learning environment.
Tips: I haven't had too many culture changes as I have met people from my city here, which is also an indicator of how global the University of Waterloo truly is. The classes are quite academic, and it's hard to catch up on UPAT times. Also, the transport system can be a bit annoying. Rest, it's a lovely place to learn.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Well, Canada has become increasingly strict with immigration and giving jobs. You'll have better luck with part-time jobs than with finding a full-time opportunity willing to take you in. Be prepared for lots of applications and rejections in the process.

Tips: Waterloo has a great reputation both in and outside Canada, and they take their academics very seriously. Lots of Indian restaurants and supermarts are available all over the place; in fact, there are all sorts of cuisines easily available, as Waterloo has a very international campus. Good people and culture.
Tips: Waterloo takes a very modern and structured approach to education. Their co-op programme is one of their selling points, but if you won't be able to handle job hunting with classes, it might not be ideal for you. Tips: One of the best things about studying at Waterloo is the diversity in course and people. Not many places offer the same level of education, but it's very important to show initiative and participate in classes. Tips: I chose to come here because of the programs offered, and I haven't been disappointed. My degree allows for a truly comprehensive and detailed analysis of psychology and society, and is great if you are keen on publishing and academia. I have truly helpful professors. Prerequisites to adapt well and basic requirements.
Tips: Be very active in terms of studying, and be on top of your courses and assignments. You will feel the cultural difference, so be prepared to need some time to adjust to your life here. It is a great university with lots of courses offered. Plan your term courses selection way ahead keeping your work permit and specialisation requirements in mind so as to select the needed course in the term offered and plan it according to courses offered based on which term the professor is available. All this information is available on the University Website. The healthcare infrastructure here is not very good, carry your basic needed medicine along with a doctor's prescription from India. It is a cold country, so be well prepared in terms of warm clothes and gear. Also, bring basic utensils if you are planning to cook your meals, you might not immediately find the kind of utensils you use back home here. Also if wanting to stay off campus, start looking for accommodation well in advance through the Facebook marketplace or other WhatsApp groups present. Living within a 1.5 km of radius University will be a better choice in terms of time spent and winters.
Likes (Post study jobs): We don't need a sponsorship visa to work. Can apply for a Post Graduate Work permit, which has a set of guidelines on the duration of the course, field of study and an English Proficiency IELTS exam which makes you eligible to apply. Stay updated with the guidelines from the government regarding this. You can apply for Post graduate work permit once you are just 2 - 3 months away from graduation. Apply well in advance, once you are eligible as it takes time to get approved.
Dislikes (Part time work): Too many students but too few vacant jobs available. Sometimes job might not hire you as other experienced people are already working. However, start looking for it well in advance. It is unannounced on the University Website when they are hiring for what and which positions. Keep an open eye on it.

University of Waterloo is great for STEM and the industry.
Tips: University of Waterloo with its coop programme is a very STEM and industry-oriented university. Many students through their coops will get work experience and skills that they then use to get full-time jobs and a lot do internships also offer students full-time offers if they do well. Overall the courses offered are useful and helpful, but the best part about the university is the coop programme.
Likes (Public transportation): So with your student card, you can use all the public transport in Waterloo for free. There is a bus system that connects very well all across the city to the university and is especially useful in the winter when it's hard to walk outside. There are also tunnels and indoor bridges that connect different campus buildings so it's easier to travel in the winter and there is also a tram that runs between big hubs.
Dislikes (Student Life): I put a 3 on student life because the University of Waterloo is very study-oriented. There is often a lot of work pressure and multiple things at once for students, so we don't get the chance to enjoy other aspects of university life, like events and going out.

The university provides a strong community spirit.
Tips: If you are creative and keen on embarking on research, this is a good place to consider. I do feel that it is extremely expensive and although placements were usually pretty good, it's no longer the same because of how strict the policies have become and how difficult it is to immigrate anywhere.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Getting any kind of long-term employment opportunity especially as an Indian is going to be a very tricky and unlikely task. They have become extremely particular and your chances of moving here to immigrate are slim to none. It is better to plan an alternative instead.

Tips: The University of Waterloo has got to be one of the best experiences I've had so far. You are certain to find people you gel with but it is important to remember that academically, courses are quite hard to keep up with. Got to explore my potential and grow as a person.
Tips: Students should know that the people are polite and welcoming so you don't need to worry about feeling too out of place. You will be expected to prepare well for your classes to keep up with your coursework. Finding jobs is a big challenge and I feel it has become extremely expensive to survive here so if you can avoid Canada then you should consider that option.
Dislikes (Internships): You are going to have a hard time finding internships here since the college doesn't actively provide internships for students, you are left to your own devices which becomes even harder as we are international students and our options become limited.

University of Waterloo taught me hard work and resilience.
Tips: It is a warm and welcoming campus at least in my case. I chose this university because of its reputation but now I feel that it is a better idea to study outside Canada itself. Quality of learning is great and you will be expected to work very hard from the first week itself. The faculty will help you in every step towards your journey.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Canada has become increasingly strict when it comes to immigration and allowing foreigners especially Indians to settled in which is why there are very little chances to get a well paid job here at least right now. I am pretty grateful to be here as well.

Faculty and learnings have made it worthwhile.
Tips: With internships and job placements, the university has a limited role and you will have to rely on your own networking as well as through professors for any real assistance. Have a healthy work-life balance as it is easy to close yourself in the midst of work and assignments.
Dislikes (Internships): Haven't had much luck from the university when it came to internships, and I did land a decent internship in India, but that was also on my own. Professors can help out and keep an updated LinkedIn as well. Attend career fair and you should study the market as well.

UNT is a public university where there's a lot of opportunities for International students.
Tips: After moving here, I think it has been very easy to transition. There was no culture shock. I wish they had more scholarships for international students especially Indian students. Though, I am satisfied with the curriculum, and I think it is flexible enough to help students in this day and age.
Likes (Indian Food): We have a lot of Indian restaurants where Indians and International students are crazy about, especially Indian food trucks around the campus have high demand among all the students and on campus communities where it is crowded and busy in the evening times every day.

A supportive and practical learning environment.
Tips: UNT is a public research university in Denton, Texas with strong programs in business, engineering, computer Science and the arts. The campus is large and lively with affordable living costs compared to other U. S. cities. Students should be prepared for a structured but manageable academic workload. Denton is a safe, welcoming college town with easy access to Dallas and Fort Worth. Early engagement with campus resources like the Career Centre and tutoring helps academic success. Transitioning to UNT was smooth. The American education style emphasises participation, critical thinking and independent work. Professors encourage questions and discussions. The campus diversity made cultural adjustment easier. Support services and student groups for international students provide community and guidance. I received a merit based International Excellence Scholarship of $4,000 per year, awarded based on my academic record during admission; no separate application was needed. Scholarships at UNT help reduce tuition and are renewable with good academic performance. I'm very satisfied with UNT. The courses are relevant and taught by experienced professors. Facilities like labs and libraries support learning well. Career fairs and networking events provide good industry exposure. The campus life is vibrant and inclusive and Denton's affordability is a big plus. UNT offers a strong academic and cultural experience.

This is the most affordable and best university in Denton.
Tips: This college has a lot of Indian students and faculty. If you want to experience the culture of Native Americans and interact with them, you might want to go to a different university. However, if you like Indian food, this is the place for you. There is a lot of competition for a few positions. To get an internship, you need to have the right skills and knowledge. Unlike India, this country seeks to employ people who have core skills in the particular subject they are dealing with.

Vibrant transition to this place.
Tips: Before coming to UNT, know it's a lively place with lots to do. Adjusting here means getting used to a new culture, which can be fun but tricky. I didn't get any scholarships, but UNT offers them based on different things. Overall, I'm happy here. The classes are interesting, and there's always something going on, but getting used to American life took some time.
Likes (Student Life): I rate a student life a 4 because it's lively and diverse. A typical day involves classes, hanging out with friends, and attending club meetings or campus events. I love the sense of community and the variety of activities available. Events range from concerts to academic conferences and I try to participate when I can. UNT has a wide range of student clubs catering to various interests, making it easy to get involved.
Dislikes (Part time work): Part-time work at UNT offers opportunities but can be a bit challenging to balance with academics. Thriving at my college: A satisfying journey
Tips: Before joining this college, students should know about campus facilities, academic programs, extracurricular activities, and campus culture. After transitioning here, I experienced some cultural shifts, but I adapted over time. I received a scholarship by working as a teaching assistant, which waived my 50% of the course fees. Overall, I am very satisfied with my university, course and country.
Likes (Indian Food): The rating of 5 was give for food options from my country of origin because there are several Indian restaurants like Desi Adda, Namasthey Denton, Babai band etc. offering a wide variety of Indian cuisine. The average pricing at these restaurants is around $20 per person. However, as a student, I prefer cooking myself because it is more affordable than eating outside.
Dislikes (Public transportation): I rated the public transport 3 because it is okay and needs to be improved, there is a service called "go zone" with which we can travel in Denton and also in Lewisville with just 2 dollars for each booking, apart from that if you want to travel to other places public transport will not be helpful.

Diverse culture, several opportunities!
Tips: The university offers diverse culture and opportunities to its students. The faculty members at UNT are quite helpful and friendly. As per my journey till now, I have been introduced to so many wonderful peers and professors, all of them rooting for my successful career in Data Analytics. The campus life is not dull, you can join several clubs to meet and greet new people. There is only one problem, that is parking. Since there are a lot of students enrolled, it is difficult to find a parking spot after the morning classes. So if you are planning to take your own vehicle, try to be here as early as possible!
Likes (Value for money): I would say UNT is good value for international students, as it provides quality education. The professors are very good and knowledgeable. They hold good academic and industry experience and are quite helpful. However, if you feel it is expensive for you to study at UNT, you can enroll on various scholarships offered by the university.
Dislikes (Internships): To land on a good internship opportunity at UNT is a bit difficult. However, you can enrol on various courses organised by UNT, such as resume or cover letter workshops, mock interviews, etc. To help you upscale your skills. Personally, I connected with a lot of university alumni in my field to get a good internship opportunity at their company or startup. After contacting them, I received a few good opportunities from the alumni. If this approach does not work out for you, you can also take part in various events organised by the university to get an internship with the industry partners of UNT.

Great Alumni base, supportive faculty and life at UNT.
Tips: UNT is welcoming, clean and full of opportunities. The faculty and staff are incredibly knowledgeable, passionate and supportive. My interactions with the dedicated staff members and mentors proved to be transformative. The best thing about UNT is its extremely diverse student population. I also appreciate the variety of academic programs and extracurricular activities available. During my time at UNT, I feel I really developed myself and I am grateful for the opportunity. I highly endorse UNT, if you are thinking about it!
Likes (Public transportation): UNT campus is quite huge and car parking is difficult to find during peak hours. Also, the parking pass is quite expensive. Bus is the cheaper option to travel and additionally, you do not have to worry about searching for a parking spot. Also the pick-drop to college is free provided you show them the student ID of the university.
Dislikes (Quality of faculty): The professors at UNT are amiable and experienced in the subject matter they teach. However, some professors at UNT push political views which could have a negative effect on some students. Besides that, the professors encouraged critical thinking, promoted engaging discussions and provided valuable insights. I was impressed by their expertise and their willingness to support students.

Be patient, this is a great place to be.
Tips: Try to land an on-campus opportunity because that way you'll be getting a good allowance and fee waiver. Keep an eye on events that are happening in the university and please go through the official mail if you come to UNT. The documentation process is a bit cumbersome, come with a bit of patience. The good professors are always in demand so be there in their classes early as all the seats get filled. If you are coming for an IT or CS major then it's high time! Frisco Dallas is blooming and booming with top companies and I'm sure that if you have the skills, you'll land a good job here! You'll also get a SIM from the university but don't use that sometimes its network is not good so is the data service, get yours from outside! It is a bit pricy but definitely worth it. Oh! And there's also a vegan cafeteria on campus which made me feel good every time I passed by. All in all, it was a good experience for me and has helped me to be where I am today.
Likes (Student Life): The college has many students coming from diverse backgrounds so it was always a treat to interact with mates in and out of classrooms, got to learn so much about different cultures and countries via word of mouth. UNT has many student clubs too, since my graduation many things have changed and they've become better only, more structured. Campus bustle during Superball games, Basketball, Basketball is good and it was always an adrenaline rush to cheer alongside Scrappy the eagle which is the college Mascot. Outside of the campus too, nightlife is pretty good. I don't think that a student coming from any part of the world will feel bored in and around the university.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There are not many Indian restaurants in Denton. Back when I started studying in UNT, if I or my friends ever craved Indian food, we had to travel to Dallas or Forth Worth and both of these cities were around 40 miles from Denton. Gradually, Sangam restaurant opened in Denton and I've had food there which as per my taste buds is good! I wasn't expecting that since there aren't many Indian restaurants around and surprisingly, the monopoly turned out to be good. Biryani and samosas are good there. Now Indian green can treat their buds without having to travel too far.
