PTE Exam Slot Booking in Major Indian Cities

In India, over 62 authorised test centres of Pearson PTE are available in major cities. Most of these centres operate 4 to 8 slots daily (typically 8:00 AM, 10:15 AM, 12:30 AM, 1:15 PM, 02:45 PM, 03:30 PM, 5:00 PM and 07:15 PM) to accommodate the high demand for study abroad aspirants or of the ones willing to live, work and relocate abroad.

The slots at the most popular test centres of Pearson PTE tend to get sold out quickly, much ahead of the sale of slots at other test centres. Hence, even though PTE allows you to book a slot as late as 24-48 hours before the exam date (if seats are available) without having to pay a late fee, you must book the test online within the due time to avoid delays. Below are the cities with the busiest test centres of Pearson PTE in India -

  1. Delhi
  2. Bangalore
  3. Chandigarh
  4. Amritsar
  5. Ahmedabad

Commonly asked questions
Q:   Which ID proof should you carry on the PTE test day?
A:

The choice of ID to be carried to the exam centre on the day of the PTE exam depends on the type of the PTE exam chosen and the place of taking the test.

For a PTE Academic test, if a person is taking the test from outside of his country of citizenship then, he/she will be required to present a valid passport on arriving to the test centre. Only a physical form of the passport is the accepted form of ID across all PTE test centres.

However, if a person is taking the test within the country of their citizenship, they may carry:

  • A national ID card
  • A military identification card
  • A government-issued driver's license (including a photo)

Note that any form of the ID to be carried must be in its physical form and no digital ID will be accepted.

Q:   Which PTE exam centre is best for Indian students?
A:

There is no exact choice of the PTE test centre that fits the "best" for all students. Students must look for and choose a centre which is the nearest to their current place of residence and is easily accessible. For this reason, start looking for a PTE test centre within your city.

However, if there is no PTE exam centre within your city then, select the one where you can travel to easily without getting late for your PTE exam. This is because if you miss out on appearing in the PTE exam at your chosen time slot then, you will have to book your PTE exam slot again along with re-paying the PTE exam fee

Q:   Can I book the PTE exam 2 days before?
A:

Yes you can book PTE even 2 days before if a seat is still free. But many times slots finish quickly, so better book bit early. There is no extra fee, also called the "late fee" for booking in the last 24 hour of taking the PTE exam.

How to Choose the Right PTE Exam Slot?

There are many criteria to choose the right PTE exam slots. Consider these -

  1. As your exam hall becomes noisy when the speaking part starts for all, it might get difficult for you to understand the question prompt in such a disturbance. Choosing a quiet or may be less occupied test centre might be ideal one for you and also help the AI to accurately capture your oral fluency and pronunciation. For that matter, choosing early morning slots might be best for you - when the environmental noises are also less and some test centres are found to be less occupied during that time.
  2. Afternoon slots, say slots between 2 - 4 PM help you avoid heavy traffic and this time is also suitable for people who can't handle exam stress and travelling fatigue in the morning.
  3. Avoid the late evening slots (5:00 PM onwards)
  4. Weekday vs. Weekend:
    • Weekdays (Tue-Thu): These are generally less crowded slots. If you can take a day off, a Tuesday morning slot is often the calmest environment you can find for your exam appointment.
    • Weekends (Sat-Sun)- These are the most popular slots that often attract the maximum crowd or full-house booking of the exam centre. If you can book a slot only during a weekend, try to secure the earliest possible time.
