‘Academic Credentials’ or Academic Transcripts are the documents that prove your educational achievements to American universities. WES evaluations are considered to be fair and accurate and they will help you get your credentials recognized abroad when you seek education there. The WES evaluation confirms that your documents and transcripts are authentic.

WES requires that the documents and transcripts should:

  • Be issued by recognized colleges and universities
  • Be signed by authorized officials and bear their seal
  • Adhere to the standards of the issuing institution

WES has laid down specific requirements for submitting documents for each country. Students are advised to follow instructions and submit documents as required so that their evaluations can be done without delay. WES may submit documents for verification to the universities that issued them.

It is required for prospective applicants to request their credentials and submit the applications as soon as possible so that the evaluations may be completed on time.

WES Credential Evaluation Process

Applications submitted are processed as follow:

Receipt of Application

Right after you submit your application and full payment, you will receive a confirmation e-mail with a reference number and instructions on how to submit your documents and academic transcripts. You can check the status of your application by logging on to My Account.

Verification of Documents

Obtaining the documents on time is critical to the WES evaluation process. If all the required documents are present, the evaluation will proceed further. If any document or information is missing, WES issues a 'Document Request' asking for the documents or information. The file will be placed on hold until all the required documents and information is received.

If WES needs to verify the documents with the universities that issued them, they will send the copies of the documents to the universities with a request for verification. You will be notified when your documents are sent for verification. If the university requires that a fee needs to be paid to provide information, it is the responsibility of the student to pay the institution directly.
