About University of Birmingham
The University of Birmingham is a public university based in Birmingham, UK, founded in 1900. A part of the prestigious Russell Group, it is accredited by the AACSB, AMBA, and EQUIS, and is considered among the best universities in the UK. History
It began as the Birmingham Medical School in 1767. This was opened by John Tomlinson, a surgeon at the Birmingham Workhouse Infirmary. It was used to train medical interns. The first clinical teaching classes began in 1779. The Mason Science College started in 1870. It got the Royal Charter in 1900.
The university continued to expand over the rest of the 20th century. It offered its first MSc program in Geotechnical Engineering in 1956. The same year also saw the start of the longest-running MSc program in Physics and Technology of Nuclear Reactors in the UK.
