• Get Your APS Certificate: If you are from India, apply for APS right now. It is a mandatory document and the biggest bottleneck, sometimes taking 2-3 months to process.

• Language Tests: Clear your IELTS/TOEFL (usually 6.5+ for English) or TestDaF (for German-taught courses) during these months.

Phase 2: The Application Window (November 2025 – January 15, 2026)

• Portals Open: Most public universities in Germany and Uni-Assist open their portals in November or December.

• Submit Early: Aim to submit by December 15, 2025, even though the final application deadline is January 15, 2026. This gives you a buffer for any missing papers.

• SOP & CV: Write a strong Motivation Letter and a Europass CV. Do not copy-paste; the admission office wants to see your real interest.

Phase 3: Admission & Finances (January – February 2026)

• Receive Offer Letters: Most universities send results in late January or February.

• Blocked Account (Sperrkonto): Once you have an offer, immediately transfer your €11,904 to a blocked account (like Expatrio or Fintiba). You need the blocked account confirmation for your visa.

• Health Insurance: Get your travel health insurance and sign up for a German public health insurance (like TK or AOK) to be ready for enrollment.

Phase 4: The Visa Process (February – March 2026)

• Book Visa Appointment: Don't wait for the physical letter; book your slot at the German Embassy or VFS Global as soon as you have a scan of your admission.

• Visa Processing: It can take 4 to 12 weeks to get your National D Visa.

For German-taught programmes, students would be required to appear for German language exams such as TestDAF and DSH. Students should also start requesting their Letters of Recommendation (LOR) per their university requirements. 6. Visa Filing Period: Once the student has successfully got his German admit letter he should look at applying for his German Student Visa to be able to travel to Germany to study.
