The UK student visa continues to cost £558 for students applying from outside of the UK in 2027, unless an increase in fees is announced by the UK Home Office. The UK student visa fee is also £558 for students applying for an extension on their existing student visa validity or switching to a student visa from another visa category from within the UK.

How much fee has to be paid by the UK Student Visa Holder's Dependents?
First of all, it is important to understand that, as part of the new rule that - you can only bring dependants in 2027 if you are enrolled in a postgraduate research program (such as a PhD, research-based Master's, or a Doctor of Education) or if you are a government-sponsored student on a course lasting longer than 6 months.
However, bringing a dependent will roughly double your upfront visa expenses. The UK Home Office does not offer any "family discount" - each individual dependent must pay their own identical fees, i.e. GBP 558 and an IHS fee of GBP 776 per year. Dependents will also be required to provide proof of financial means for their period of stay, which for 2027 will be:
- Studying Inside London: £845 per month per dependant (up to a max of 9 months = £7,605 total per person).
- Studying Outside London: £680 per month per dependant (up to a max of 9 months = £6,120 total per person)

To apply for the UK student visa, you must show the authorities that you have sufficient money to support yourself and the cost of your education in the UK. This condition can be exempted if you have been staying in the UK on a valid visa for the last 12 months on the date of your application.
The money you need to show must be available in your bank account for at least 28 consecutive days within 31 days of the date of your application. Indian students are required to pay the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) to access the National Health Service (NHS) in the UK. They can avail of the NHS from the day their UK student visa validity starts, given that they have paid the IHS.

For example, if the visa is for 12 months, the UK Home Office grants extra time (a buffer period) before and after your university course dates.
