University of Stuttgart History
The University of Stuttgart was founded in 1829 and then, finally, it became a university in 1967. The university went through many changes in its journey to become an international research university from a trade school. With the name change, new study fields came into being such as History of Science and Technology and the Social Sciences, and expansion of the existing ones. In 1997, the internalization program was launched. Then, in 2002, Stuttgart University was divided into 10 faculties. In the year 2015-2016, student enrollment at Stuttgart University reached 28,000.
