Against the backdrop of a record increase in migration to Australia, the country planned to enforce stricter visa rules for foreign students.

Australia Tightens Visa Rule for International Students

The stricter visa rules for foreign students in Australia took effect on March 23. After the official data showed migration hit another record high in the country, Australia planned stricter visa rules for international students.

Among other conditions, the new rules likely increase English language requirements for student visas.

"The actions this weekend will continue to drive migration levels down while delivering on our commitments in the migration strategy to fix the broken system we inherited," Home Affairs Minister Clare O'Neil said in a statement, as reported by VOA News.

As per reports, a new "genuine student test" will be introduced for students who want to come to Australia primary to work. Also, the imposition of "no further stay" conditions will be used on more visitor visas.

Study in Australia: Follow these 5 steps

As per Australia's government, there are following 5 steps the candidates must follow to study in Australia:

  1. Choose your study area: The country is offering courses across a wide range of study areas. The students can choose courses according to their career and learning goals.
  2. Choose a course: The course can be searched using the course search tool to find the best Australian study option for students based on the chosen study area. This can be found on studyastralia.gov.au.
  3. Plan budget: Once the course is decided, it is important to plan a budget for the cost of living and studying in Australia.
  4. Prepare student visa application: To pursue any full-time course which is of more than three months duration, the students need a visa.
  5. Get ready to study in Australia: Once the student accepts the offer from any Australian university, they need to plan to move to Australia.
