Canada student visa rejection

For the last two years, Canada's student visa rejection rate was quite high but now it has improved. The visa rejection rate for 2019 was 35% and with the beginning of COVID-19, it went down to 60% in 2022. There has been an improvement in that now, however, it is a little slow. Students also had to wait for 8 to 10 months to get visas, but with relief in the rejection rate student will be a little relieved now. Earlier, students with good profiles were also facing rejection without any reason. But now, students with a gap of 3 years received study visas in the past few weeks.

Canada is a popular choice amongst students willing to move abroad for higher education. Its immigrant-friendly policies and quality education are some of the factors that draw international students from across the world. With the arrival of COVID, there are a high number of applications and acquiring a visa becomes difficult.

According to Study abroad consultants, one of the reasons behind this improvement is that a large number of students were applying to other popular study abroad destinations like US, UK, and Australia.

Several Indian students, take admission into Montreal colleges, and this trend continued during the pandemic. However, during the pandemic, due to the high admission rate of international students, the Canadian government announced scrutiny for 10 colleges.

The rejection rate had gone high and only 40 percent of students were getting accepted. But now there has been an improvement in it and the acceptance rate has now moved to 50 to 60 percent. There can be a lot of reasons for a student visa rejection. It can be due to less IELTS or TOEFL scores or inadequate documents. Students might lack the required academic credits or scores as mentioned by their college/university. Apart from this, lack of funds can also be a reason for visa refusal. The admission committee may not be convinced with the candidates’ SOP (Statement of Purpose) or other documents.

The student acceptance rate in the US was close to 95%, so, Canada could not take things lightly. So, it started considering all cases carefully. Study abroad consultants have advised aspirants to submit a document in the order they are directed to along with the offer letter. Students should mention their purpose for studying in Canada with a valid reason. Still, if they face rejection then they can appeal and apply again with the help of professional counselors.
