Master of Statistics - Batch of 2025
3.8
A good university with better opportunities.
Tips: I think all the classes happen in a more practical way than theory unlike most colleges in India and that's the most amazing part about it t. There is not much exam pressure. There are easy subjects and sometimes putting in the best effort helps and it's very multicultural. Too good.
Likes (Indian Food): Since the Australian National University campus is in the city, there are so many options for indian food. Almost every convenience store also has samosas, kachoris etc. The quality of indian food here is absolutely phenomenal. I don't miss food back home too much because most of it is available here. However, it's quite expensive comparatively so I mostly prefer to cook at home but the quality of food is insane.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): The Australian National University does not provide any career support for grades. Usually, companies like KPMG and EY will offer a package of 65,000. It might depend on a different major. I would say, start early and make sure to job hunt. Plus, networking is gold.

Master of International Relations - Batch of 2025
4.2
A happy, vibrant and balanced life.
Tips: Don't carry extra food from your home country. Everything is available. Join ANU clubs, attend ANU events, and follow all relevant Facebook groups. This will also help in making new friends. Make sure that your assignments are not plagiarized. Skim through your reading before classes Refrain from making any racist remarks.
Likes (Indian Food): There are many Indian restaurants like Blu Ginger, Curry Twist, 7 on the Lake etc. Of course learning to cook is also important as it helps in saving money and it creates opportunities to make new friends. I preferred to cook for myself most of the time.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Given a chance, I would definitely have immigrated permanently. But the competition is tough in the job market. Even if you get the work visa, it might take a lot of time to get a full-time job, especially in Canberra. Although one can get casual or part-time jobs more easily than full-time.

Master of Finance - Batch of 2025
4.3
There are limited internship opportunities for finance students, especially with external companies.
Tips: For my degree, although the semester one courses are marked as 'Introductory,' they are complex, especially Statistics. A certain level of mathematics knowledge will be beneficial before starting this. Last-minute studying will not work.
Likes (Indian Food): There are mostly Asian restaurants due to the high Asian population, and many Indian restaurants in the CBD. As food is quite expensive, I generally prefer to cook at home. Vegetarian options are limited but available, and there are plenty of other affordable options for students on the ANU campus.
Dislikes (Internships): There are limited internship opportunities for finance students, especially with external companies, particularly if you're on a student visa, as many Canberra businesses are government-affiliated, restricting international student employment. While the college offers guidance, it hasn't been very effective in securing jobs in this market. The Momentum program for CBE students provides excellent support, and it's particularly beneficial for new students if they don't have a mentor.

Master of Machine Learning and Computer Vision - Batch of 2024

Make sure to fully utilize the facilities and resources provided by the university.
Tips: Make sure that you are using the facilities, which is the biggest mistake I made. Use the libraries and labs instead of studying in your room. Try to limit the days you work to let's say three days a week, and then focus on your studies for the remaining period. The buses are really good. They can be slow depending on where you live. However, if you are on campus, everything is accessible. Moreover, there are trams as well, which allow easier access. The transportation is affordable, with student fares around $1.60. If you are into sports, you will love ANU and Australia.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): I'm still struggling to find a job. Most of the jobs are restricted to citizens for security reasons. Especially because Canberra is the capital of Australia. Usually, a new graduate tries to get into really competitive graduate roles. During the interviews, they focus more on behavioural skills over your hard skills.

Bachelor of Advanced Computing (Honours) - Batch of 2026
3.7
Academically rigorous yet rewarding experience.
Tips: I received a scholarship that offset 50% of my academic fees. The transition initially was very difficult, especially when there was so much academic pressure. Be mentally prepared to spend more than 10 hours studying every week.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Heavily dependent upon government policies, which change on a year-to-year basis. Usually, the university does not play too much of a role in determining whether you will be able to immigrate. Studying abroad involves many more opportunities beyond immigration. You could also work in a different country apart from Australia.

Master of Marketing Management - Batch of 2025
4.7
A great experience so far with many opportunities and internships.
Tips: Canberra is a more relaxed town than most, so it may be slow-paced at times. However, the people are lovely and open-minded. Be wary of your expenses as the service industry is expensive compared to cheap labour in India. More than ANU's courses, the networking options and opportunities are what make the university a great value for money.

ANU: A second home away from home.
Tips: Canberra is a diverse city but it lacks cultural food options for South Asians especially Sri Lankans and South Indians. It is difficult to find good imported foods from India and Sri Lanka in Canberra compared to other cities like Melbourne or Sydney. Besides the transportation facility is very affordable convenient and easily accessible. There are lots of internship opportunities available so you need to find one that matches your schedule.

3.6
A leap for good challenges that will shape you for life.
Tips: Students must be aware of referencing, and academic style of writing and have fundamental knowledge in the field they are going to study. Students must also be well aware of resources and facilities for them by their department and the university. I experienced culture shock in terms of how young adults earn, live by themselves and study, which is very different in India. The party culture, drinking culture and legal drugs were surprising to me. I love how multicultural and diverse the cohort is at the ANU.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculty at the ANU is highly qualified and professional. The experience and work of the professors are exceptional. The faculty is very diverse and mostly all professors have their unique way of teaching. The professors are usually accessible by appointment and are supportive.
Dislikes (Value for money): It is an expensive country in general. The fee for international students is much more than what domestic students have to pay. A lot of university events are paid and hall events are usually very expensive. Anyone who is earning through a full-time job can take out the expenses easily which is a rare case.

3.7
Reputed University but we have to raise our standards equally and search for opportunities.
Tips: I haven't experienced any cultural shift. College provides scholarships based on the first-semester credit. Please check the university website for full details and can mail a representative for more details. They are helpful. Good University. It is up to you to make connections and find opportunities.
Likes (Public transportation): Hartford campus is not much of a campus. It is just a business building besides an undergrad building. If you want to enjoy the campus experience, choose Stamford but it has fewer opportunities for Part time jobs. The Hartford campus is in the downtown which is quite busy, so not far from the city. The bus transportation is good and running 24/7. Students are given with college pass, which makes it easy to travel. As I said, the university provides a bus pass for you to travel all over Connecticut.
Dislikes (Internships): At the moment, as you all know, the market is not as good as before. Considering the current situation, I have given 2 stars. But again, it depends on the individual. People with the right and good amount of work experience are likely to be shortlisted for the opportunities.

Place to build your career
Tips: Getting a scholarship for a master's programme in business analytics and project management is very hard. You won't be experiencing much of a campus life in Hartford but you meet a lot of career-driven people here and this is a good place to stay motivated and build your career by interacting with others. The academic curriculum is very important and valuable here.
Likes (Part time work): There are several on campus part times available at the main campus which is the Storrs campus for students. Also, there are multiple types of part-time available for all international and local students where you can work legally with good pay that is sufficient for all your needs and expenses to live as a student.
Dislikes (Student Life): Hartford campus isn't first choice, you miss a lot about your campus life in Hartford. Particularly for the Hartford campus as it is just a block for classes. You won't be experiencing many events or gathering to socialize but academically this university has its very own pros.

Not good in terms of student engagement.
Tips: Transitioning after coming here might involve adapting to a more urban environment. I experienced a cultural shift since I came from a completely different background. A merit-based scholarship of $3300 is available for students after their first semester. I am satisfied with the university and course, however, I enjoyed coming to the US experiencing various cultures and learning to live far from home.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): The campus is well-connected to the rest of the city. The most commonly used mode of transportation is buses, whereas other forms of transportation like trains are available for out-of-city travel. Public transportation is extremely convenient and free for students. Moreover, the frequency of buses is impressive.
Dislikes (Student Life): My experience at UConn hasn't been as vibrant as I expected. I head straight home after classes. There aren't many events organized on campus that catch my interest. Hence, I rarely find myself participating in these events due to lack of appeal. There are some student clubs and communities, but they don't seem to be very active or well-publicised.
