Master of Engineering in Electrical and Computer Engineering - Batch of 2023
3.5
Balanced Review, If you have patience and hard-working attitude then Canada is the country for you.
Tips: Reach out to Professors and ask them for TA and RA. This will help you a lot in gaining experience and also earning more than minimum wage. If you are planning for Canada then have a high level of patience. Things go very slowly. You can hear after 4 months about an interview. University fees are very high. Make sure you know your budget and then make a decision.
Likes (Safety): University handled well during COVID. Even though classes were offline, all the precautions were maintained. They supplied enough support on health and hygiene. Exams were conducted online during COVID. Also, there were very few cases in Alberta compared to other provinces.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): The University of Calgary doesn't provide its students with any career support. They conduct career fair and information sessions, but it is always crowded, and you cannot meet with the employers. They only call a few companies which have offices in Alberta.

A diverse educational institution.
Tips: After moving here you have more responsibility and maturity. You develop a sense of responsibility where you have to work and earn for yourself and your family in a better way.
Independence is what you learn. I am very much satisfied. It can be hard for some people as there is a huge cultural gap but it is easy to come around it.
Likes (Public transportation): Campus is about 3-4 kms from the city, easily accessible by public transportation. You can stay close to the university as well.
Very affordable for students who have less income due to part-time jobs. They can get low income transit passes which is the cheapest.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Depends on the type of work, but usually between 15-20 companies are available. Starting salary is 65,000-70,000 CAD/year depending on the different job descriptions.
For instance, my field is masters in project management so that was my starting salary.

Good place to settle in, friendly people.
Tips: You will find lots of Indian students here, at least in graduate school. So I can safely assume that you won't face any cultural shift unless you are enrolled in some other field. There are almost no scholarships in engineering unless you are an MS student. However, there are bursaries available depending on your expenses and student income.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): I think Alberta is the best province if you are planning to get settled here. It has many immigrant-friendly programs for PR. It has lower tax rates and there are more opportunities here in the engineering field. If you love to live near nature then I think you won't find any other province as good as this.
Dislikes (Internships): Less direct internship opportunities are available for graduate students. Although the university has a dedicated department for career building most of its activities revolve around undergrads. As a graduate student, you are expected to work on your own.

One of the best quality system.
Tips: Coming to a new foreign country meant adjusting to a new culture, but the friendly campus community made it smoother. I am very satisfied with my university and courses. This university provides a diverse and enriching academic experience. Plus studying in Canada is a joy due to its welcoming atmosphere and stunning nature around us.
Likes (Public transportation): Our university campus has good connections to the city through buses and a Train light rail. Public transportation here is affordable and efficient, especially with the pass for students. It's easy to get around the city for shopping and entertainment, making life at the University of Calgary more enjoyable.
Dislikes (Quality of faculty): At the university of Calgary professors in my department are friendly and easy to approach. We have a unique teaching method that includes a lot of hands-on learning, which I find very helpful. Our teaching faculty comes from all over the world, making our classes diverse and interesting.

Amazing city to be in and university is a great place to get a world exposure
Tips: I attended University of Calgary for Masters in Data Science and Analytics course. The course structure was good but when it comes to instructors for this course some are good but some are average. Also given it is a one year course it is fast-paced and you'll have a lot of assignments every week along with the projects and other deadlines. Lastly, internship is an important part of the program and don't expect the university to find one for you. You need to take the initiative to find your internship. Overall University has a good infrastructure and has all the facilities available for students. Also, Calgary is affordable when it comes to living expenses and safety is great.

Extraordinary experience. Very good college
Tips: The weather was so bad . So be careful and don't sit idle at free time, do some work. The part time jobs are more at that place so do any part time job . You will earn more money if you join in any IT field so be careful that you join in IT internship only.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): Once you settle in that place your life will be easier. If you settle in the country you will earn more money by regular periods. Time changes the money you get, and will be increased if you get permanent membership that is green card if you stay more years.
Dislikes (Value for money): The work you do and the money you get will not be sufficient. You will get money only if you join in any IT field. If you choose any other field you get the money but not enough. The prices of goods and any products will be slightly higher.

It has lowest fees, beautiful city and great university
Tips: Having good academic scores in previous study and at least 7 bands in IELTS with relatively experience if there is gap between admission.
Calgary has good opportunities for work after studies and especially for civil engineering students there is least competition.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): In Alberta there is PNP program available so, it gives benefit to international students. Also in Calgary there is lot of corporate offices and MNC companies are available, they recruit students directly from universities for working as intern or full time employees.
Dislikes (Part time work): In this pandemic time everyone has lost their jobs and work , hence it takes time to heal that situation. While overcoming this COVID-19 situation every student has to work for their expenses and fees even after studying online. That's why students have to suffer for initial 3-4 months.

The university is good but getting a scholarship for a course-based student is quite difficult.
Tips: Working while studying is quite stressful. If you are going to take a course-based Master's, this university is good. Remember tuition fee is high. Accommodation and expenses are manageable. Getting a scholarship for a course-based student is quite difficult. Until and unless you are a toppers of each semester, you can get some scholarship. The faculty are helpful and will assist and guide you throughout. Personally, it's a bit stressful for me to do a Master's in this course but worth it at the end. Overall, I am quite satisfied with my experiences.

Awesome college and good facilities for overall growth.
Tips: Lakehead University was a great experience. They provide good education and also provide placements after college term. They also have extracurricular activities that are very helpful for graduation. If you want to pursue your graduation, then Lakehead University is a very good choice.
Likes (Safety): There are regular safety checks and police patrols. Police barricading is in place, and police are only 5 minutes away if needed. Plus, the country is one of the safest in the world, and the crime rate is very low.
Dislikes (Public transportation): The transportation system is well maintained, but it takes more time to get to nearby places because the buses stop at every mile. Also, some routes have fewer buses, which can cause problems for passengers.
