While it might seem like getting your student visa application approved by the immigration and visa office is fairly easy after you have received an admission offer from your university abroad; the reality is far different from it. Check out the tough realities of getting a student visa for studying abroad and how this seemingly simple process may turn out to be the most difficult step of your study abroad journey.

Tough Realities of Securing Student Visas to Study Abroad

Dreaming of studying abroad is a common aspiration for many students. However, the reality of securing a student visa can be daunting and often fraught with challenges. This blog post will delve into the tough realities of securing a student visa to study abroad.

Realities of Getting a Student Visa to Study Abroad

Getting a student visa application approved is even more difficult than getting an admission offer from a university abroad. This is because even the slightest mistake or lack of document(s) might lead to your visa denial (or rejection) for the current year and hence waste your efforts and resources - all at once.

Hence, on the ground level, the tough reality of securing a student visa is that any casual behaviour towards this almost last step of getting to study abroad could lead to an ultimate VISA REJECTION which would mean - no going abroad or waiting for another few months before finally getting the visa application approved. This might lead you to miss out on the progress of your coursework and class-taught lectures.

Check out the list of several such reasons that become the reason for student visa rejection below.

1. Strict Requirements and Documentation:

    • Incomplete documentation - You have not submitted all the documents as mentioned by the visa authorities. This may lead to you getting another visa appointment.
    • Unethical documentation - Trying to hide something such as previous travel history or your visa rejected earlier but you didn't inform the visa authorities about that. These reasons may also lead to the visa rejection.

2. Irrelevantly Chosen Program:

    • The program chosen is not relevant to your last qualification
    • The program is not relevant to your future plans/career goals. This is especially the case when applying for a German student visa

3. Not an appropriate university chosen: You chose a low-ranking university but you deserve better. This may be one of the reasons for the rejection of your Irish student visa

4. Not enough proof of financial means: Showing funds that will be enough to support your living and studying costs in a foreign country. So, if you don't show proof of funds, or, in some cases, you didn't provide the ITR or related documents then also your request for student visa approval may be denied. This is followed across all major study-abroad destinations/countries, especially in Ireland

5. Passport records hidden/missing: If you hide/forget to present the previous or past account of your passport history to the visa officials then also, your visa application may be rejected. For example, if for some reason, your visa was denied in the past and you did not inform the visa officials about the same in the current visa process, your request for the same might be nullified.

6. Going unprepared for visa interviews: Often neglected, but very crucial aspect of the visa approval process. Most students go unprepared for the visa interviews which leaves them with no answer in front of the visa officers. For that reason, you must consult a good study abroad consultancy like Shiksha Study Abroad as the counsellors will help you with questions that are asked in a visa interview. Check out the Role of Education Consultants in Studying Abroad.

7. Less/no knowledge about the chosen course: In a visa interview, you will be asked questions related to your course. In that case, if you will not be able to respond, your interviewer might not approve your visa.

8. Accommodation: Accommodation is mandatory for visa processes in some countries. As a result, you must present proof of your sought-after accommodation, especially when applying for a France student visa. So, if a document regarding that is missing - you might face rejection for France student visa

9. Previous Qualifications: In some cases, your previous qualifications can also pose some problems. The visa officers want to confirm that you will be able to complete the course that you have chosen in the foreign institution. Hence, in that case, if they find some gaps in your previous qualifications or other discrepancies such as extended course duration (3 years degree completed in 5 years) then, you must present a valid and genuine reason for the same.
