An Experience Beyond Academics: Learning, Opportunities & Personal Growth
Tips: If you’re thinking about Sheffield Hallam, do your homework first. Look into the course structure, tuition fees, living costs, accommodation, and scholarships. Rankings only tell part of the story. What matters more is finding a course that fits your interests and where you want your career to go.
Moving to the UK wasn’t easy at first. The culture, the weather, the food, and living on my own all took some getting used to. What helped was how multicultural the university is. It was easy to meet people from all sorts of backgrounds, and that adjusted feel much lighter. Looking back, I’ve become more independent, more confident, and more open-minded.
Money-wise, I was lucky, but it didn’t happen by accident. I received the Transforms Together Scholarship, which covers 50% of my tuition fees, plus a £1,000 award from the Santander UK Fund. The university also gave me the chance to take part in fully funded field research in Spain. I got all of this by searching for funding, applying, and keeping an eye out for what was available to students.
Overall, I’m really happy with my university, my course, and my time here. The learning environment is supportive, the lecturers are approachable, and there’s plenty to get involved in outside of academics. Living in the UK has given me real international exposure and helped me grow as a person. Managing living costs and finding accommodation can be hard, but I’d still say it has been a valuable and rewarding experience.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The quality of the faculty is 5, as the faculty members were very knowledgeable, experienced, and laid-back. They would always help us with any problem, solve our doubts, and guide us beyond teaching us in class. Teaching techniques were a perfect mix of theory and practice. There were interactive classes, discussions, case studies, presentations, and research activities which helped in independent learning. What else was added by the faculty to their teaching was the industry point of view of the subject matter in addition to the academic point of view. Another aspect of the quality of faculty was that there were diverse faculty members.
Dislikes (Internships): The rating of the Internship was 3 since the university helps and advises students on how to find an internship and secure it but does not guarantee internships. They will help you with that process, advise you, and even help you in finding an internship. But it is your job to search for vacancies, apply for those, prepare yourself for an interview, etc. Availability and relevance of an internship may depend on your field of interest, skills, and available opportunities. Ultimately, it is your job to make an effort in securing an internship. University helps you open the door, but everything else depends on you.

Definitely not worth the hype nor amount
Tips: I required an IELTS score of 7 to get admission for my course; however, it was really difficult to cope with native accents initially. A sudden turn from exams to assignments was another area that made it difficult for me. Scholarships are rarely available, and I haven’t met a single person who has actually received published ones. Even though I'm satisfied with university, the amount I paid to be in here seems to be huge when compared to academic quality.

The college is good with dedicated faculty members.
Tips: You will most definitely transform in terms of your behaviour and personality, you will be much more cautious in spending money and time. You will become a calmer version of yourself than before. I am quite satisfied with the outcome; whatever I had expected of myself, I have achieved. And yes, I'm very much satisfied with my college.
Likes (Safety): The city is safe, the campus is mostly safe and guarded. There is a shuttle bus from City campus to university campus and vice versa on designed times, so if you plan your day around it, you don't really have to depend on public transportation and can save quite a good amount of your money.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): I have attended so many job fairs but haven't gotten in yet. And most of the companies that offer jobs are not relevant to sports. I have only worked in part-time jobs while studying in this university, full time jobs are really hard to get and it's not just about my university it's very to find a job in whole of UK and sponsorship too is hard to get.

Sheffield, a city of hope.
Tips: I have lived by myself before so chores were not a challenge to me. I didn't grow up in a traditional and conservative home so not much of a cultural shift. I received a 2000 scholarship that was approved in my acceptance letter. Overall, I'm glad I'm here.
Likes (Indian Food): A typical day at the university is just attending classes, lunch and then back home. There are a few events on campus organised by the Hallam Students' Union (HSU). The first 2 weeks of joining, we had welcome week events lined up for us to get acquaint to the university and union activities, clubs and societies.
Dislikes (Safety): The teaching faculty is very approachable and helps us with everything through the course and modules. The weekly schedule is set and they adhere to it and assist us with any help that we need. The faculty is quite diverse even in terms of nationality.

Good academics and job options.
Tips: In the beginning, it is difficult to adapt. After a while, you get used to your new environment. On the basis of my past academics, I got a scholarship of 2000 pounds.
Likes (Safety): There's good safety here. Police are patrolling all the time and they take strict action against safety purposes. My experience is so good because I also come back from my shifts late at night, but I never face any safety issues.
Dislikes (Indian Food): It is quite difficult to find Indian restaurants, especially North Indian restaurants. There are only two or three Indian restaurants here, but their food is not very tasty, and it’s too expensive to eat out. I prefer to cook my own food.
