Group of 8 Universities aren't always rewarding but your connections do
Tips: Though I did not feel much cultural shift since almost 80% of the class would be Asian, with an equal majority of Indians and the rest being from different parts of Asia. I studied with no scholarship and completed the whole course without it, though it's not tough to grab a scholarship, but to maintain it, you need to keep a minimum of a 5 GPA to continue the scholarship for the 2 years. I found everything satisfying, but the catch with the course is that you need to go through the course notes before attending lectures, which is opposite the way we have been taught in our Indian education system.
Likes (Safety): Adelaide is a genuinely safe city overall, with very limited crime. There's occasional racism towards Indians. I personally experienced just one such incident in my 3 years living here—but beyond that, it's a beautiful, welcoming place to call home.
Dislikes (Part time work): The availability of part-time roles on campus is limited and tough to get into, as a lot of students are trying for the same role. On the other hand, part-time roles are easy to manage with university, as you can manage your course subjects' schedules as per your convenience when you enroll in the subjects. It is easy to get part-time casual employment outside of the university campus and there are lots of options to choose from to help you with your expenses. The average payout is $25-30 an hour.

Navigating your University life
Tips: Moving abroad for uni is honestly a massive shock to the system at first. You are suddenly forced to scramble and balance classes, part-time jobs, missing your family and constant money stress. It’s a cool adventure and great for meeting people but the culture shock and burnout are incredibly real. You honestly just have to toughen up and ride out the rough patches. Money-wise, I ended up getting the Global Citizens Scholarship, which basically chopped 30% off my tuition fees because of my bachelor's grades. They just review your initial application and give it to you if you hit their benchmarks, but you do have to keep your grades steady so they don't strip it away. Now that I’m wrapping up, I’d say the whole experience was just okay. The absolute biggest nightmare right now is the job market. Trying to land a decent role before your visa runs out is incredibly stressful and takes forever. It gets totally exhausting but you just have to take a step back when you're hitting a wall and keep pushing.
Likes (Safety): I gave safety a high rating because the campus is just really well-covered. It’s not just about having security guards walking around—they have night shuttles to get you home safely and a solid counseling team if you’re stressed out. There’s honestly always someone or something available to help you out here. You just can’t be shy about asking for it when you need it.
Dislikes (Internships): The university has an internships team that can support you in securing internships. However, in an MBA, there weren't options for internships integrated into the course while I was studying. That being said, we can always look for internships on our own.

Master of Engineering (Mechanical) - Batch of 2023
4.1
It is a great university with a vibrant campus.
Tips: Becoming independent is the first and foremost thing every individual should learn. Taking financial responsibility and accountability is another thing. Managing all your funds on your own is something we should be aware of. I had 30% scholarship due to my previous academic record. University is a bridge between academics and part time opportunities.
Likes (Public transportation): There is free transportation within the CBD. Even if you live away from the city, buses are reliable and are cheap for students. There are monthly passes available for students for 120-150$. There are different types of public transport like tram, bus and train.
Dislikes (Internships): No proper guidance is available to find part time or full time jobs. They do not help in finding internships. My course had a compulsory internship for 6 months but you have to source internships on your own. This is very difficult for an international student.

Bachelor of Computer Science (Advanced) - Batch of 2028
4.3
Good university and faculty.
Tips: There are a couple of scholarship opportunities available, though not many. The cultural shift is a major one, but you’ll probably settle in in no time. Adelaide is a really peaceful city and settling in will be pretty easy and fun. Rest, the city’s full of hubs and fun centres for roaming around.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The teaching faculty includes numerous PhD holders from really diverse backgrounds. All of the staff are open to discussions and the teaching is really inclusive. Appointments with professors are easy to get and emails are responded to on time. The tutors are also really cooperative.
Dislikes (Part time work): Although the part-time jobs are usually manageable with studies, it is difficult to land any on campus jobs. The availability is low and demand is high, so on campus employment is a little tight. One can look for jobs off campus, though with effort, on campus jobs may also be available.

Good university with strong academics and practical approach.
Tips: I didn’t face any sort of cultural shift, as there are a lot of Indian students in the university. Explore Australian culture as well and learnt a lot of new things like work-life balance from them. I availed a 30% scholarship by maintaining a final year and individual CGPA and SGPA of 8+. Overall, I am very satisfied with the university as they genuinely believe in learning practically and the application of concepts. Adelaide is extremely safe in terms of Safety, and Aussie people are really helpful in every aspect and welcoming by nature.
Likes (Public transportation): I have my house located at Magill Road, and the bus stop is right next to my house, which directly takes me to the University Bus Stop. That is the best way of transportation. If you are travelling to a far place with a group, it is better to book an Uber or DiDi.
Dislikes (Indian Food): I prefer cooking my own food as it saves on cost, and there are several Indian restaurants nearby if I don't want to cook. Specifically: Chakna bill for two is 60 dollars, Bombay Spice 50 dollars for two, and Chatkaaz $50 for two.
