Jul 14, 2025: International students planning to study in Canada are now required to maintain a minimum bank balance worth CAD 22,895 (INR 14.35 L), to apply for the Canada Study Visa, per a latest press release by the Candian Government. Earlier this figure used to be CAD 20,635 (INR 12.93 L).  The minimum funds required are subject to change depending on family size & the location where students opt to live over their studies. The change comes into effect from Sep 1 2025, for all international students planning to pursue their higher education in the country.

The minimum funds international students must possess to apply for a Canada Study Visa is now CAD 22,895 (INR 14.35 L). Earlier this figure stood at CAD 20,635 (INR 12.93 L). 

This is in line with the government's move to reduce the number of illegal immigrants in Canada. The changes comes into effect from Sep 1, 2025.
