Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology and Health Care Research - Batch of 2027
3.9
Good for exposure and growth.
Tips: I have had a mostly positive experience at university and it has taught me to become more self reliant and capable than before. The academic culture is more straightforward and optional reading isn't exactly optional. Scholarships can also be awarded as the academic year progresses. Part time jobs on campus are limited and very sought after so you'll be lucky to get one.

BSc Hons in Molecular Biology - Batch of 2028

Though competitive in academics, there are many resources to help students along the way.
Tips: Quite the academically inclined college. Academics are rigorous, but the quality of education is also great! Resources are available to students to help throughout education such as health and counselling services, recreational services, women's equity centre, etc.
Likes (Public transportation): Free bus is very helpful. Many free resources are invested in by the student union. These resources, including free busing for students, health insurance, free counselling services, allow students to have the resources they need in order to do well.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): In Biology, an undergraduate degree is often insufficient in the job hunt. Post-grad jobs after a Biology undergraduate degree can be very competitive due to this. Due to the competitiveness, it can be overwhelming for students to try and find jobs after graduation.

Good to learn and spend time on campus.
Tips: Great place to step out of your comfort zone and grow as a person. You will be exposed to all sorts of people from all over the world as well and you'll get the opportunity to experiment with your interests and ideas both within and outside the classrooms. The campus is huge and welcoming and you'll be occupied for most of the day. Ideal for STEM and business fields.

Meaningful growth and learning.
Tips: The cultural shift was quite drastic, but still did not feel too unfamiliar. I enjoyed going to classes and learning new things, but the experience was not anything like what I expected. It wasn't as easy to be socially active and find your kind of people. University was quite academically rigorous, which didn't leave me with a lot of time to focus on other things. The course was something I thoroughly enjoyed, but I still wanted more guidance to tap into all that the course had to offer. The country was average. Things like the increased prices on rent, transportation and groceries did make it a little difficult. Having the campus centrally located meant not a lot of community engagement within the college.

My study abroad life has been good so far.
Tips: Life in Toronto is full of surprises and activity. There's never much of a dull moment here. Classes are well structured and formulated in a way that they cover all essential aspects of your chosen field and the business programs are particularly renowned. Professors are wise and empathetic. Keep essentials from India especially medicines, as the winters can really trigger sickness if you're not used to it. Most of my meals are cooked and most groceries are available as well. Promising place to grow.
Tips: My first impression of this university was realizing how huge it truly is and the class sizes account for the same. In fact, it becomes tricky to get individual attention and participation outside of office hours. The city is really expensive but the university is helpful with financial aid for those who genuinely need assistance. Coursework can become quite intense and you'll have to learn how to make the most out of your university experience. More transparency could make things better.

Tips: University life is very practical and academically oriented here. People are friendly and I've found my classmates and professors helpful so far. Lots of real world insights and experiences are brought to the table to help us learn. Slightly on the more expensive side especially with housing and food. BA (Hons) in Economics - Batch of 2028
4.4
The faculty is extremely well-qualified and leading in their respective fields.
Tips: There is definitely a lot of exposure to different cultures, and a lot of freedom given to students. Students at the University of Toronto Mississauga are in charge of their own studies, which I think was probably the biggest cultural change. Unlike in school, you are responsible for your own progress, and nobody will follow up with you. You take charge of your education and assignments. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the experience. While the workload can be tough, the assignments help us gain a better understanding of the topic and subject. The University of Toronto has definitely helped shape my personality and made me more independent.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculty is extremely well-qualified and leading in their respective fields. Professors are increasingly helpful and kind, especially during office hours, and will patiently explain concepts until fully understood. Some professors go out of their way to accommodate students. Teaching assistants are also extremely helpful. The teaching methodology is mainly research-centric, with many assignments involving research and project work, which aids in better understanding. The campus's diversity is reflected in the teaching faculty, with professors of various nationalities.
Dislikes (Public transportation): The campus is well-connected to the rest of the city, being a major bus stop in Mississauga with nearly all buses passing through. While bus connectivity is excellent, occasional delays do occur, though rarely. I've rated it four stars because, although there's good bus service, the train connectivity throughout the city isn't as strong, and you'll primarily rely on buses.

Tips: The cultural shift here is real and expected, but not as bad as one would anticipate. Once you spend some time on campus, you will find yourself immersed in the city life and your classes to the point you'll have a pretty sorted routine. There are a bunch of mixers held downtown, so always stay a step ahead and network like a pro. Try to be active during classes and discussions, and ask as many questions and doubts you have. Balanced Review, If you have patience and hard-working attitude then Canada is the country for you.
Tips: Reach out to Professors and ask them for TA and RA. This will help you a lot in gaining experience and also earning more than minimum wage. If you are planning for Canada then have a high level of patience. Things go very slowly. You can hear after 4 months about an interview. University fees are very high. Make sure you know your budget and then make a decision.
Likes (Safety): University handled well during COVID. Even though classes were offline, all the precautions were maintained. They supplied enough support on health and hygiene. Exams were conducted online during COVID. Also, there were very few cases in Alberta compared to other provinces.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): The University of Calgary doesn't provide its students with any career support. They conduct career fair and information sessions, but it is always crowded, and you cannot meet with the employers. They only call a few companies which have offices in Alberta.

A diverse educational institution.
Tips: After moving here you have more responsibility and maturity. You develop a sense of responsibility where you have to work and earn for yourself and your family in a better way. Independence is what you learn. I am very much satisfied. It can be hard for some people as there is a huge cultural gap but it is easy to come around it.
Likes (Public transportation): Campus is about 3-4 kms from the city, easily accessible by public transportation. You can stay close to the university as well. Very affordable for students who have less income due to part-time jobs. They can get low income transit passes which is the cheapest.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Depends on the type of work, but usually between 15-20 companies are available. Starting salary is 65,000-70,000 CAD/year depending on the different job descriptions. For instance, my field is masters in project management so that was my starting salary.

Good place to settle in, friendly people.
Tips: You will find lots of Indian students here, at least in graduate school. So I can safely assume that you won't face any cultural shift unless you are enrolled in some other field. There are almost no scholarships in engineering unless you are an MS student. However, there are bursaries available depending on your expenses and student income.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): I think Alberta is the best province if you are planning to get settled here. It has many immigrant-friendly programs for PR. It has lower tax rates and there are more opportunities here in the engineering field. If you love to live near nature then I think you won't find any other province as good as this.
Dislikes (Internships): Less direct internship opportunities are available for graduate students. Although the university has a dedicated department for career building most of its activities revolve around undergrads. As a graduate student, you are expected to work on your own.

Likes (Public transportation): Our university campus has good connections to the city through buses and a Train light rail. Public transportation here is affordable and efficient, especially with the pass for students. It's easy to get around the city for shopping and entertainment, making life at the University of Calgary more enjoyable.
Dislikes (Quality of faculty): At the university of Calgary professors in my department are friendly and easy to approach. Amazing city to be in and university is a great place to get a world exposure
Tips: I attended University of Calgary for Masters in Data Science and Analytics course. The course structure was good but when it comes to instructors for this course some are good but some are average. Also given it is a one year course it is fast-paced and you'll have a lot of assignments every week along with the projects and other deadlines. Lastly, internship is an important part of the program and don't expect the university to find one for you. You need to take the initiative to find your internship. It has lowest fees, beautiful city and great university
Tips: Having good academic scores in previous study and at least 7 bands in IELTS with relatively experience if there is gap between admission. Calgary has good opportunities for work after studies and especially for civil engineering students there is least competition.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): In Alberta there is PNP program available so, it gives benefit to international students. Also in Calgary there is lot of corporate offices and MNC companies are available, they recruit students directly from universities for working as intern or full time employees.
Dislikes (Part time work): In this pandemic time everyone has lost their jobs and work , hence it takes time to heal that situation.
