The SAT Score is a major deciding factor when it comes to choosing a college and/or course for students. A lot of universities and courses require candidates to be above a certain SAT Score to actually be eligible to apply into the curriculum of that particular college. Hence, the exam is an important factor while planning to study abroad. Today, we will be talking about the essential tips and strategies to score well in the SAT exam.

It is important for the candidate to know everything about the exam. Candidates are advised to first know about the exam in detail. They should be well versed with the SAT Syllabus, SAT Registration, SAT Important Dates. Candidates are advised to prepare well ahead of the examinations. They should get familiar with a lot of English passages, they should be well versed with SAT books and resources and above all check out our SAT Preparation Tips for a comprehensive step-by-step guide to preparing for the SAT.

Secondly, candidates are advised to practice as much as possible. Candidates can check out our SAT Practice Papers/Sample Papers. This way they will be able to self-evaluate their performance as to how they would be faring on the exam day. Candidates are advised to identify areas that are relatively easy and focus more on the tough sections of the paper. This way they would be able to bring a balance to their overall performance.

Q:   What is a SAT score?
A:
When you apply to universities in USA, they ask the score of a standardized test called SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test). The new SAT pattern has total of 1600 instead of 2400 earlier. The highest composite score for the redesigned SAT is 800+800, or 1600. Your section scores are the individual scores for the two main sections of the SAT: reading/writing and math. Each of these sections is scored out of 800, and they are added together to get your overall score.
Q:   How many hours would require to cover SAT syllabus?
A:

Check when you are going to take the SAT test. The SAT syllabus is vast hence it cannot be covered in a couple of hours. If you have a good amount of time say six months then you need to give fewer hours daily, on the other hand, if you have less amount of time for SAT test then you need to study more hours. Go through the SAT syllabus and understand how much it will take you to cover each and every topic and prepare a study plan accordingly. Thus, this completely depends on the applicant and how he/she wishes to cover the SAT exam syllabus.

Q:   How many times can you take the SAT exam?
A:

As in the case of the SAT, there are no restrictions set by the College Board, students can take the SAT exam as many times as they want. SAT is administered now eight times a year in India from 2025. The test is usually conducted in March, May, June, August, September, October, November and December.

However, it is recommended that applicants appear for SAT twice - in Spring and one before Fall. This is because the highest SAT scores among the two will be considered by universities for admission. Since in a lot of cases, SAT scores improve in the second time, it is recommended to take the SAT exam twice.
