Are you scared of the QR section on GMAT exam? Do you feel that even after doing enough practice, you cannot get the answers right? Then don't worry, we will suggest some tips and also challenge you with some practice questions so that you feel confident!

gmat focus - quant section

The most important section on GMAT exam is the Quantitative Reasoning Section. The Quant section comprises 21 questions in the Focus or 11th Edition, down from 31 previously. There are two topics tested in this section. Apart from this, the use of a calculator while working on this section remains prohibited. Applicants have to prepare for fewer topics on GMAT Focus than in the previous version.

Though the QR section on GMAT is 45 minutes long, yet it is the most challenging (usually). Applicants have to get ample practice and will have to be prompt with their question solving techniques as well. Time management is key here. If applicants don't follow the time limit, they may lose one mark for unanswered questions. So let us first understand how the GMAT exam pattern has changed. Then also help you understand your GMAT prep level when you solve the questions given here.

We have discussed the changes in detail in the following section, followed by some practice questions to prepare for GMAT exam.

What has Changed in GMAT Focus Quantitative Reasoning?

There are a couple of changes that have come in after the GMAT exam has been updated. The major changes in GMAT Quantitative Reasoning are as follows:

  • Previously, there were 31 questions on the GMAT Quant section, now there are 21 questions.
  • The time for solving 21 questions on GMAT's Quantitative Reasoning section was 62 minutes but now it is 45 minutes.
  • The GMAT syllabus for the Quant section included Problem Solving (Geometry, Elementary Algebra, Arithmetic, Ratio Proportions) and Data Sufficiency. But now there are just Arithmetic and Algebra topics in this section. The Data Sufficiency topic is now a part of the third section of GMAT called - Data Insights.
  • GMAT Focus Edition's QR section is being scored in the new bracket of 205-805 in comparison to the previous bracket of 200-805.

These changes have significantly brought down the time for GMAT exam preparation for QR, and with the new exam pattern, applicants have to prepare on focused topics instead of an exhaustive list of topics.
