  • The findings, their significance, your involvement in conducting this research, and your involvement with any resulting publication.
  • In case you already have research plans, you can outline them below.
  • Try to be specific, giving particular examples rather than general statements. You can list the names of the particular faculty members you are interested in working with.
LOR
  • Names and email addresses of three referees

    • Three reference letters are required to complete your application. At least two letters should speak to your ability to conduct independent research at the graduate level. Referees with extensive research or academic experience are preferred. We strongly recommend that you contact your referees in advance in order to confirm their willingness to act as a reference for you, to confirm their institutional email addresses, and to tell them to expect an email from our system (it will include the words "University of Toronto" and your name in the subject line). Only Adobe PDF format will be accepted.

    • Your referees’ email addresses must be their official institutional address. For example, Gmail addresses are not acceptable.

CV
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) You will be asked to provide information regarding awards received, conferences or journal publications, and any relevant work experience. We recommend uploading a PDF copy of your CV detailing your educational, professional, and other experience. List all your conference and journal publications, with complete citations including all authors, the publication venue, date, page numbers, and whether it was peer-reviewed. Also list all conference talks you have given, including the name of the conference, and the length of the talk. Research-stream applicants will be asked to provide this content separately in the application portal. Please use the following formats:

    • Awards or recognitions:

Year. Full name of award (common abbreviation, if any). Organization offering the award. Institutional / Local / National / International. Academic / Research / Leadership / Other. Full monetary value in Canadian dollars.

    • Peer-Reviewed Publications:

Full authorship as it appears or will appear in the original publication, with your name marked with an asterisk (*). Year. Title. Full publication name (common abbreviation, if any). Volume and Number for journals. First and last page numbers, or total number of pages (indicate if institutional, regional, national, or international; for conferences, state whether the presentation was oral, poster, or both).

    • Other Research and Development Contributions:

List other contributions to research and development. Begin with your most recent contributions and list each entry on a new line. Briefly describe your role in each contribution. Follow the same format as for peer-reviewed publications where possible. Use the following headings in the order indicated, omitting any headings for which yo

Challenging yet Fulfilling experience at the University of Toronto
Tips: 1) The transition is the most difficult part of the process. There is a huge cultural shift, and the only way to overcome it is with time. I have become very independent, and honestly, the experience gives one the confidence to survive and thrive in any situation in any part of the world. 2) I received the International Scholars Award that contributes $180,000 towards my tuition at the university. It's an admission award given based on the student profile. 3) I am very satisfied with my education. I feel very confident about my future career options because of the skills and the opportunities I have gained over the last 4 years at the university.

BA (Hons) in Economics - Batch of 2028

Learning about myself everyday
Tips: Just come with an open mind, because almost every social norm is different from back home, and to thrive, you need to be social; otherwise, you might end up alone. I feel communication is by far the most important skill, so put yourself out there in situations where you are comfortable and have to communicate in all sorts of situations and with people from diverse backgrounds.
Likes (Student Life): The campus being in the heart of downtown Toronto, you can never get bored, and there is so much to do. The thing I enjoy most about my college life is to go on random side quests with my friend, play a random sport, explore the city, etc. I don't really participate much on campus, but there are tons of communities and opportunities.
Dislikes (Internships): Some faculty members' resources are very limited, and they don't prepare you very well for networking and job hunting. You need to do the majority of the work yourself, and even seeking help hasn't been very useful from my personal experience. Internships in Toronto are available in almost all fields.

Very independent and structured.
Tips: Very research oriented yet fun loving campus. You'll learn a lot more than you initially sign up for yet you'll get an experience to cherish. Professors are very patient and available which makes things easier and the campus is very diverse as well. Learning format is independent and you'll be responsible for your own pace of learning.

Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology and Health Care Research - Batch of 2027

Good for exposure and growth.
Tips: I have had a mostly positive experience at university and it has taught me to become more self reliant and capable than before. The academic culture is more straightforward and optional reading isn't exactly optional. Scholarships can also be awarded as the academic year progresses. Part time jobs on campus are limited and very sought after so you'll be lucky to get one.

BSc Hons in Molecular Biology - Batch of 2028

Though competitive in academics, there are many resources to help students along the way.
Tips: Quite the academically inclined college. Academics are rigorous, but the quality of education is also great! Resources are available to students to help throughout education such as health and counselling services, recreational services, women's equity centre, etc.
Likes (Public transportation): Free bus is very helpful. Many free resources are invested in by the student union. These resources, including free busing for students, health insurance, free counselling services, allow students to have the resources they need in order to do well.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): In Biology, an undergraduate degree is often insufficient in the job hunt. Post-grad jobs after a Biology undergraduate degree can be very competitive due to this. Due to the competitiveness, it can be overwhelming for students to try and find jobs after graduation.
