Countries like Russia, China, Philippines and Kazakhstan are the top study destinations for Indian medical students to study MBBS abroad.

Studying MBBS in India is becoming harder each year because of limited government seats and high fees in private colleges. That’s why many Indian students are now choosing to do MBBS abroad at a much lower cost with good quality education.

Why Indian Students Choose the Cheapest MBBS Colleges in the World

Studying MBBS in India has become hyper-competitive, with over 2.5 million students appearing for NEET-UG for limited government seats. Private medical college fees in India often exceed ₹60 lakh to ₹1 crore. In contrast, the cheapest MBBS colleges in the world offer the same degree for ₹15 lakh to ₹30 lakh total, including high-quality clinical exposure and English-medium instruction.

Tuition fees and living costs play an extremely important role in influencing study abroad opportunities. A university providing world-class facilities at a competitive price would be in higher demand than an expensive university. India is a price-sensitive market, and students would prefer to study in countries that provide incomparable MBBS studies at a low cost over others.

NMC Guidelines for MBBS Abroad (FMGL Regulations)

Students planning to pursue MBBS abroad must ensure that their chosen medical university complies with the National Medical Commission (NMC) Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate (FMGL) Regulations. Following these guidelines is essential for obtaining recognition of the foreign medical degree in India and becoming eligible to practice medicine after completing the required licensing process.

Before applying, students should carefully check the NMC guidelines for MBBS abroad, the university's accreditation status, and the eligibility criteria for appearing in the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) or any future licensing examination prescribed by NMC.

Key NMC Requirements for Foreign Medical Graduates

NMC Requirement Details
Course Duration The medical programme must include a minimum of 54 months (4.5 years) of classroom and clinical training.
Internship Students must complete a 12-month compulsory internship at the same foreign medical institution or its affiliated hospital.
Medium of Instruction The entire MBBS course must be taught in English.
Medical Registration Eligibility Graduates must be eligible to obtain a licence or registration to practice medicine in the country where they completed their medical education.

Important Points for Indian Students

  • The foreign medical degree should comply with all NMC FMGL Regulations.

  • Students should verify whether the university is recognised by the relevant medical authority in that country.

  • Clinical training and internship requirements should be completed as prescribed by NMC.

  • The medical qualification should make graduates eligible to practice medicine in the country of study.

  • Choosing an NMC-compliant university can help avoid issues during degree recognition in India.
