What if you have zero backlogs?

In case students have zero backlogs, they may still be asked to obtain a clearance certificate from their previous academic institutions to prove the same.

How to procure a Backlog Certificate?

While some Indian universities would have no problem in issuing a backlog clearance certificate, many small-scale institutions may be unaware of this requirement in the abroad education process. Hence, they may find it difficult to release such as certificate.

In this case, students may reach out to the intended abroad university’s representative and request them to write this requirement as a mandate by the university and take it the request to their respective previous academic institutions to procure a clearance certificate. This approach would also help in a ‘zero backlog’ case.

Backlog Certificate FAQs

Q. Are backlogs mentioned in degree certificate?

A. No, backlogs are not directly mentioned on a degree certificate. A degree certificate solely confirms the successful completion of a specific degree program.

However, backlogs can indirectly impact the overall duration of your studies. If you have cleared all backlogs before completing your degree, it won't be reflected on your degree certificate. However, if you haven't cleared all backlogs, you may not receive your degree certificate until they are cleared.

Therefore, a Backlog Certificate is a separate document that explicitly details the number of backlogs, the subjects involved, and the number of attempts taken to clear them.

This certificate is crucial for international applications as it provides a clear picture of your academic performance.

Q. Why is a backlog certificate necessary?

A. A Backlog Certificate is a crucial document for international students as it:

  • Provides a clear academic history: It details any academic setbacks and how they were addressed.
  • Improves university admissions chances: It helps universities assess a student's academic potential.
  • Strengthens visa applications: It clarifies any academic delays and demonstrates commitment.
  • Enhances scholarship applications: It provides a complete academic picture.
