The British government in the last few months has been taking steps to ease visa regulations for immigrants and non-immigrant applicants. It has been trying hard to encourage Indian students towards the UK. In the second week of November during his visit to India, British Prime Minister David Cameron announced the scrapping of controversial visa bond scheme, under which visitors from certain countries including India were to provide a financial bond of £3,000 before getting a visa.

In 2012, the post-study work visa, which allowed Indian students to stay on after their degree for two years to find work, was scrapped. Although the scrapping of financial bond comes as a relief, the lack of work visa is still a deterrent for students considering studying in the UK. But considering the changing trends, it is possible that the UK government may ease the visa rules in the future.
