What are the US Study Visa Requirements for International Students in 2026?

International students planning to study in the USA need an F-1 visa (or M-1 for vocational programs), which requires meeting a few key conditions:

• Acceptance at a SEVP-certified institution and a valid Form I-20 issued by the school.
• SEVIS I-901 fee payment, done before the visa interview.
• DS-160 form completed online with a recent photograph meeting US visa specifications.
• Proof of financial capability to cover tuition and living costs for at least one year.
• Strong ties to home country showing intent to return after studies complete.
• Valid passport. Validity should be at least six months in advance based on the intended stay.
• The F1 student visa interview at the nearest US embassy or consulate, along with academic documents.

Who Is Eligible for a USA Study Visa?
